We wanted to find a place outside of the "tourist traps".... My parents live on the mountain and recommended another place inside Gettysburg----But this place had better reviews. I chose another option. I'm glad we did. The food was amazing. The portions were huge and you can tell e everything was homemade. Pancakes as big as your plate and I ordered the chicken fried steak and I've never had it like this before. Great service (albeit it was a bit much....... just in my opinion ) She was nice just a bit too clingy. The pace was dead and if I needed anything I would have asked. That's my only quirk which I don't wannna make a big deal. But next time we are in town we will def go here again. I used to love going to the Lincoln Diner but as stated in my last review--- the place is FILTHY. I will Never step foot in there again. This little gem isn't in town. Atmosphere - located at a truck stop just off Rt 15, so nothing special. However, everything looked pretty clean. Service - excellent. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Food - the menu was a extensive for a truck stop restaurant. I have a cup of cheeseburger soup, which was served hot and was great. I ordered the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. We wanted some comfort food as we had been eating fancy for a few days while traveling. We both love diner food so decided this would be the place. Service was quick and the menu is extensive. We both settled on the open face turkey with mashed potatoes and I got stuffing. Food came out nice and hot. Very large portion of real turkey, and smothered in gravy. I am not a huge gravy fan, so this was a bit overwhelming as it was heavy and thick. Everything tasted great, but for me, too much gravy. I go here for breakfast because my in-laws love it, but I seriously don't see what they see in it. I ordered biscuits and gravy that were no better than the frozen ones you get at the grocery store. The sausage gravy was mostly white gravy with a little bit of sausage in it. I've also had scrambled eggs, bacon and home fries in the past. The bacon and potatoes were always a little undercooked for my liking...I like both with some crisp. Service is always good, however. Maybe for lunch and dinner they're better, but I would not recommend them for breakfast. read more

The wife orders hot tea with a little milk. Tea comes eight minutes later with no milk. "Any chance I could get a little milk for my tea?" "Sure, honey, cream okay." "I'd prefer milk if possible." Ten minutes go by. No milk. Tea gets cold. Just 4 other tables occupied in the diner with two servers so no one is in the weeds. Food finally comes. No milk. Wife is afraid to ask for it a third time. Wildebeest: "Anything else?" Me: "Yes. Utensils would be great." Wildebeest walks to the far end of the diner, picks up a coffee pot, and fills three empty cups at other booths before finally bringing us forks. Never returns to refill our empties. Finally mumbles to a co-worker behind the counter "Keep an eye on these guys" -- strangely sounds more like a cop assigning a detail than customer-service -- before she disappears again into the void of space... We still left a decent tip because we're concerned she's living in the dumpster out back with no heat... By the way, the reason we're giving the joint two stars instead of just one is because the All Day Breakfast was very, very good -- large portions at a good price... To start the staff is okay and nice. The cleanliness is questionable. Now the food is a different story: my brother got fried catfish and it was undercooked. The soup isn't all that good. I got the broiled flounder and fries. The fish was clearly just pan fried and very dry/bland. Not even the sauces could revive the fish. If there was a way to kill something twice, this place has mastered that. The fries aren't cooked all of the way. I'm assuming that seasoning is nonexistent in this part of the state. The service was middling (not terrible but not good either) so getting some mayo for the sandwich took longer than it should have. Surprising little truck stop diner just outside of Gettysburg. Nothing special, nothing fancy. I'd guess this place looks the same as it did in 1978, or maybe even '68 (aside from the tv). I was driving back to Virginia from my Harrisburg office and decided to give it a try since I had a hankering for some biscuits and gravy (and this place has all day breakfast!). Well skip it!!! Everything was ok till we went to pay and I was charged $1.40 for an English muffin when the menu price is $0.75. I was told (and it says this no where) that's only if I substitute. I wasn't given that option while ordering. I definitely don't need extra bread. I know it's only $0.65 but it's the fact that this needs to be clarified and don't argue with the customer. The ambience at this diner is a bit cold and very dated. I love diners, but this one just doesn't feel that clean or kept up. The waitress was nice and efficient, but her dirty shirt was hard to look past. On a positive, the breakfast exceeded my expectations. The omelette was large and full of meat and veggies and the remainder of the plate was filled with breakfast potatoes. Most of the place was filled with locals, so business was steady. I meet my parents here on a fairly regular basis. We met for lunch one day and the special was a rack of ribs for $6. I kept telling myself that there was no way these could be good (based on the price) but I ordered them regardless. They were the pork short ribs and they were excellent!! They were perfectly done and were not smothered in rub or sauce, which is the way I like them. I was pleasantly surprised. I don't believe these are offered on the everyday menu, which is a shame. As good as the lunch was, the breakfast fell short of expectations. I ordered poached eggs, corn beef hash, home fries, and toast. The eggs were ok but were sitting in a bowl that had not been completely drained. The home fries were not good, even a bit slimy and underdone. I had to douse them in salt just to be able to eat them. I still didn't finish them. I asked for the corn beef hash and asked for it to be "fried hard". They got this part right. The hash was delicious. The rye toast was ho-hum but I might be spoiled. The usual breakfast place I attend uses local, hand sliced rye. For breakfast, the diner is below average. For lunch, it is above average. That is the reason for the 3 stars. read more

Absolutely a truck stop. Needs a makeover. But where it counts, IE food and service, this place has it all going on. Nothing hipster about it, but when I requested hot sauce, they offered up Siracha, Texas Pete's, as well as Tabasco. They provided extra hot water and a second teabag for the tea.
