I really do enjoy this diner. The service is always friendly and prompt, the food always tastes fresh and delicious, and the prices literally can't be beat. Plus the place is quaint and rarely super busy except for weekend breakfast times. I will say, I love the chicken fried steak here. It's probably my favorite breakfast item on the menu. My kids absolutely devour the pancakes, which are always fluffy. The omelets are also always cooked well, and never over done. Also, a surprising standout on the menu was the French onion soup. Came in for lunch today with my parents and daughter. Every seat was filled due to the after church crowd. In spite of how busy it was we only had to wait 10-15 minutes. My dad and daughter got breakfast and both portions were very large and they both loved their dishes. My mother and I got lunch and both our dishes were a lot smaller and lacked flavor. The chili might have been one of the worst I've ever had. We were to get rolls with our meals and we had to ask for them. When we asked we seemed like we bothered our waitress to bring out what was supposed to come with our lunches. I would come back but definitely get breakfast instead. read more

Visited the Starlight Diner for the first time for breakfast with my dad one Tuesday morning around 9am. The restaurant was very crowded, but they have a ton of seating available and we were directed to a booth as soon as we walked into the building. Our server was over within a minute and took our drink order. We ended up ordering a good amount of food because my dad was coming off a 1.5 day pre-operation fast. Needless to say, we took a few leftovers to go. The food was delicious, though. I personally had a breakfast special with 2 eggs, french toast, sausage patties, and hashbrowns. I added cheese to the scrambled eggs. All of the food came out piping hot and exactly as ordered. The portions for the pancakes and chicken fried steak were huge and the quality was fantastic for a diner. We left very full and very happy! Would definitely recommend. read more

The place is alright. Lots of standard diner fare. My friend and I each got an omelet. He got the 3-meat-filled Ultimate Omelet and I got the Philly Cheesesteak Omelet with shaved ribeye, provolone, and peppers. The food was cooked fine but I have to say it was all pretty under-seasoned to the point where I felt awkward salting my food a second or third time as our waitress checked on us. I enjoyed my side of scrapple which was perfectly crispy and served with a touch of syrup. The inside is plain but cozy enough. It's clearly built to feed lots of people and turn over tables fast. We only had a short wait before being seated and to their great credit, our waitress was super fast greeting us, getting us drinks and taking our order and I think our food was out in maybe 5 minutes - impressive. read more

I love diners. The Starlight is a diner in every sense of the word. The inside is clean and bright. The counter, booths and dining room are well laid out and comfortable. The server staff was prompt, efficient and friendly. The food came out quickly, but the temperature was barely lukewarm. It tasted fine, but was less than enjoyable. When the cashier asked how our meal was, we told her that it tasted okay but that the food was cold. She just kind of shrugged her shoulders and was very indifferent. First time I hear and let's say that u won't be making a return to this place. Ordered the chicken Alfredo, and when I started to eat it. I found charred something or another from the grill mixed in my food. When I found more, I couldn't even eat it. Chicken was dry and over cooked. When I asked for the manager the waitress told me she left at 8pm. Didn't even offer a refund or discount for the dinner. I might not be on the line of owning a restaurant, but last I heard when you are getting blacken charred from a grill, that means it's not being cleaned properly and now it's contaminating the food that customers are Recieving in here. I will not be coming back to this and advise others to be very careful on eating here. read more

Food was pretty good overall but honestly the service was absolutely ridiculous. Our waitress came to our table we placed our orders and then once we got our food never checked back to see if we needed refills, if we needed anything, or if the food was even good. All the waitress sat at a table in the corner talking and eating not even paying us any mind. We waived them over multiple times and only got acknowledged after 10 minutes of trying to signal them over. Then it took them another 15 minutes for us to signal them and get our check. Definitely need to be taught better customer service and better etiquette on how to be aware of your customers and what they need. Definitely won't be back! read more

Had lunch here today with a friend. Very good food and great service. We ordered from the Senior menu. Crab cake dinner, broiled haddock dinner. Very good and not skimpy portions. Plenty of food with a senior meal. Entree, soup or salad and two sides. Did not take long for the food to arrive. The salad was very nice. I was surprised that there was actually chunks of cucumber and tomato instead of the usual fluff of lettuce on a plate that many places serve. Icing on the cake was the dressing tasted homemade; delicious. We were sad that we were too full for dessert because the desserts looked wonderful. We will definitely stop again. read more

Earlier this week my wife and I stopped in for breakfast before heading off for our day. This is the second visit we made to the starlight in the last couple of weeks and I have to say both visits were less than good. The food is on par for the Hanover area which basically means it's terrible. There are absolutely no good places to eat in Hanover Pennsylvania. It is as if this town is a Mecca for crap on a plate. I really can't say breakfast was screwed up however when it comes to reviewing their service that's a whole different subject. Once we were seated we waited almost 10 minutes just to get water. Once the waitress showed up to take our order and we ordered our breakfast we again waited more than 10 minutes for a plate of eggs. After being served our meal we didn't see our waitress again. She never came back to check on us. She never came back to offer us a refill on our drinks. She never came back at all until it was time for her to walk past our table and drop the check as she kept on going. At least when the Russians owned it there was hospitality in the restaurant business here. So unless you think mediocre quality food and absolutely lousy service is what you're looking for... don't go to the starlight. We certainly will never return. read more
