Great diner, lot of people . It's a trucking stop, has a lot of parking and a station behind it . Portions are huge and inexpensive. We got 2 coffee, coke, stake skillet, egg/backon , cheese sandwich with home-fry and fresh blueberry pancakes- total bill was $33. Great place to eat with family.

Chicken soup- really liked the abundance of corn on the bottom

It was late at night and thankfully this diner was open. We were seated right away and our waitress quickly stopped by. We were happy to see they had a special menu for those over '55'. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs, my husband got the fried clams. Soup was included as well as a scoop of ice cream. My chicken soup was good as was my husband's crab soup. My spaghetti was ok but my husband really enjoyed his clam strips. The ice cream was really good. Our waitress was friendly, warm and checked on us quite a bit to make sure we were okay. And checking out was also quick and pleasant. Would definitely stop by again. Plenty of parking in front and on the side. They also have a pump station on the side. Very nice people.

We tried a wide range of breakfast dishes and they were excellent. The chipped beef gravy really made everything it touched better. The PA classic, scrapple made me feel like a kid again. I enjoyed the truck stop-style diner feel. There aren't many left but I'm glad this one was. Friendly, attentive servers rounded out the experience.

This is the kinda place I think my Grandma might've run - down-home cookin', decent portions, & good prices. Add all-day-breakfast & you've got the Hunterstown Diner! We decided to head out of town for a late breakfast while spending the weekend in Gettysburg and had a great previous experience here, so off we went. This is truly a locals-type place and has some great eats! We went for an afternoon breakfast (of course) and were not disappointed! Place was packed, but there was an open booth, so we were seated immediately. Server was attentive the whole time & we wasted no time in ordering up some comfort food - My Girlfriend went for French Toast etc & I went the Steak & Eggs route. Everything tasted fresh & came out in a jif! Yep - we'll be back!

I drove from NC to Gettysburg PA to go to NY to visit my best friend and her family. I wanted to go to Gettysburg for so long that it had finally happened and I made the most of the time I had there.. I was exhausted by the time I got to Gettysburg and I found a diner that was a truck stop as well. It was so cute inside and everyone was so nice and friendly. Plus the prices were amazing for the quality of the food. I would come back to the diner again

We always are cheerfully greeted, and we are seated immediately because it was right after lunch and right before the dinner rush and we sat in the bar area on a high top and it worked out perfectly. Our server was outstanding. She came over got our drink order and if we wanted any appetizers which we did not get this time, but let me just say their appetizers are to kill for they are outstanding. As you can see in the photos, the burgers are done right they are nice and juicy and the toppings are just right in the buns are so fresh. It's crazy. So if you're in the Gettysburg Square area, we highly and I mean highly recommend stopping in here for either a burger or one of their other options which are all really good food well prepare prepared.

Coming from Rhode Island with hot weiners I have high expectations for what they call the 'Texas dog' and I can say that they didn't even come close. A dog with meat sauce, mustard and onions...The bread was a majority of the dog with a mountain of yellow onions that left so much of a bite I couldn't take another. The dogs were really big and seemed to be cut in half but the casing was tough and the dogs were not of quality. The stars given were simply to account for the memorabilia and history of the establishment which was cool to see. Overall, the dogs made us sick and left us disappointed but the history is worth the trip? Maybe just don't get the hotdog.

I had a ham and cheese with rye toast and my dad ordered a western omelette, but swapped the ham out for sausage and asked for two sides of scrapple and home fries. The omelettes were stuffed. I've never seen so much sausage in an omelette as I did that morning. The rye toast was only very lightly toasted.. I prefer a little crisper. My dad's home fries were seasoned well and the scrapple was thin and crispy. He loved it. The inside of the restaurant is small and homey with all of the expected diner touches (signs, and barstools, etc.). There are two unisex bathrooms and the one I used was a little dirty. If we're looking for diner food in the area, I think we would definitely stop in again for a quick bite.

We'd spent an entire day touring the battlefield, it's a Saturday, and the town is full of tourists. No surprise we had a thirty minute wait for a table. But once inside and seated, it was clear to us that the B & G was no ordinary bar & grill. The burgers are themed for generals, both Federal and Confederate, who took part in the battle. Each burger is characterized by the general it's named for. The General Buford, for example, is served with bleu cheese crumbles and horseradish (he's a cavalry officer, get it?) and the Robert E. Lee features a slab of Virginia ham. I ordered the General George Meade. Meade was a Pennsylvanian, so naturally this burger comes with a pile of Philly cheesesteak. A carnivore's delight, to be sure. No complaints here. And if I'm ever back this way, I'm curious to try the General Longstreet: it's served with carmelized onions and peanut butter. That's gotta be good.

My wife and I both had the shrimp baskets and two soft drinks for lunch. The shrimp baskets were $17 each and the soft drinks $3 each. With tax and tips the total bill came to $50. The shrimp were obviously pre-battered and frozen but they were pretty tasty. The french fries had some kind of a nice crispy coating and were excellent. The coleslaw was pretty tired. The service was cordial and quick. The decor is as I remembered very nice. There is free parking behind this restaurant, but not many people know it is there. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because I think that the cost of the luncheon was a little more than it should've been for what we received. Had the shrimp been coated with a batter and fried from scratch (instead of being taken out of a frozen bag) I might've been able to award five stars. But... All in all this restaurant continues to hold its "very good to excellent" reputation for food and service over many years. I would die there again and I would recommend it with no reservations.

We were there on a busy Saturday; they were clearly slammed and probably understaffed, and it took a bit over 20 minutes after ordering to get our food. Other than the wait for the kitchen, the service at the table was very good. It felt a bit pricey at about $62 for two with tip. Cheesesteaks were good but on the small side for $17 and $19 (the latter on a gluten‑free bun), and a little light on the Cheese Whiz. That, plus a cider and a Coke, left the overall experience somewhat underwhelming.

Of the two servers they had, we had the worst of the two. She disappeared from the floor for long periods so it was difficult to even get a drink refill. Ended up sticking with water as the one cocktail I had was clearly a mix and also seemed to have no alcohol in it. Appetizer selection was limited to seafood or onion soup. Don't like seafood? Tough luck. If you like seafood with some variation of Old Bay then you'll probably like this place. Although there are much cheaper places to eat if you just want basic northerner seasoning. The restaurant was not advertised as a seafood place otherwise I would have avoided it. I ended up ordering a steak, which came with a salad and a potato. The salad and potato was the best part. Despite ordering the steak medium rare, it was unevenly cooked and dry with a leathery exterior. I would have sent it back but I didn't want to spend another hour trying to get someone's attention to resolve it. If I ever find myself in Gettysburg again, I will be sure to eat elsewhere, this was not good value for money.

It was nice because we didn't wait long to be served and we had I nice view of the entire restaurant. A very rustic place that looked as I would imagine it did in 1863.
