Initially, the price was a bit high but Hunt's had been recommended by a friend so I figured it was worth the extra money. Overall, I am happy with my actual install and install experience, but that doesn't outweigh the general dismissiveness and lack of communication, so I wouldn't work with Hunt's again. Our outdoor spigot was also broken during the install--it was old, so probably not all their fault, however there seemed to be no real concern that it was at least partially a result of their installation and we paid top dollar to get it fixed by them quickly without a discount. I regret not calling another company. Our install also failed inspection on a minor issue. They came out, fixed the problem, then said they may be able to do the reinspection with photos and that "no news was good news" ...then 3 months later I started getting notification from the city that our permit wasn't closed out due to a failed inspection. Called Hunt and they didn't seem at all concerned about the miscommunication, take responsibility, or acknowledge the fact that I'd have to take a day off work for this. Finally, I had a problem with being unwittingly enrolled in their Hunt's Club. I noticed I was being charged and when I asked about it and said I didn't sign up for it, they said "you agreed, it was on the invoice, nothing we can do" despite insisting that it was unclear and I didn't sign up for it (while sitting on hold listening to their "no hidden fees" message). I eventually found the PDF in my email box that showed that it was NOT on the quote and the answer was "oh, but when you click in our portal to sign electronically it's listed differently." The charges were reversed, but again, no accountability for the issue. If I could just work with those installers through a different company, I would, but I wouldn't work with Hunt's again. read more

Needed electrical repair of under cabinet lighting plus the installation of an exterior outlet and new ceiling junction box and light. Brenden was professional, thorough and knowledgeable and completed the jobs in a very reasonable time. He even reached out to our former general contractor who remodeled our kitchen several years ago to make sure he had the right parts for the high end cabinet lighting. Let's be honest, home repair services are expensive and Hunt's is no different. However, their technicians are highly trained, skilled at their jobs and, I assume, paid as such. Nic, a technician from Hunt's, came to our home yesterday and spent 2 hours inspecting our home's electrical and plumbing systems. His services are part of being a member of Hunt's Gold Club (I think there are different levels, but we are gold). I was skeptical about club membership but over the past few years it has paid off handsomely. We get discounts, we get fast service and we get techs annually coming out, gratis, to check all our systems. Nic is a low pressure sales guy, really close to zero pressure -- he wants us to have a reliable working home and suggests options that we can do ourselves, mixed in with what a professional must do. I felt bad when he announced he was now going into our crawl space...it's low, dark, hard to maneuver in. He did it well, fast, and came back with great info. I would give Nic and Hunt's more than 5 stars if I could. read more

I hired this company in 2016 to repair a leaking pipe in my home and unfortunately had a terrible experience with the contractor, Josh, who is the brother of the company's owner. He overcharged me and kept increasing his service price saying there needs to be more tools and labor than he initially thought. It ended up costing 10 times more than what was quoted initially, and the final cost was around 4300 dollars. (Look at the picture, do you really think he did work that was worth 4300 dollars?) He failed to properly explain the scope of the work and the final outcome, leaving me responsible for additional repairs and demolitions. The final result was not satisfactory and Josh's assurance that the job would be covered by insurance proved to be false. I strongly suspect that the company, through Josh, deliberately misled me in order to get more money because Josh never told me to check with the insurance first, instead told me to pay him first and then get money from the insurance for myself which was not the proper way. When I attempted to address my dissatisfaction, it was difficult to get a hold of Josh, and the company showed little interest in resolving my complaints. 6/4/24 Contacted through Thumbtack to get estimate for HVAC Cleaning. First available 6/11, with no set appointment. Got a call at 11am on 6/11 saying the guy was too busy to come by and I could rebook for 6/15 or 6/19. What a joke. This company employs a triage scheduling system which does not value customers or their time. On Thumbtack, they put in that they've scheduled with you so it appears they were selected from the bids you received, which increases their selection statistics on that app. The company can also see the size if the job on this app, so they can use that information to triage your appointment. Pick a smaller company that actually values people and their community. read more

Make sure you get a detailed estimate, invoice and eventual bill from Hunts. It will help with any warranties, rebates and tax filing for credits if you replace certain equipment like water heaters and furnaces. Make sure Hunts line items the product, model, serial number, price of material or product and labor cost. Putting all of this in one large quote without delineating each item leaves you stranded when utilities and the IRS, for rebates and credits, wants you to report it to them. Hunts failed to supply me with information of the water heater I had installed on the initial invoice. After contacting them, they finally added it and sent it to me. After looking at the IRS form needed to receive Energy Credits, it requires a cost breakdown for the product. Hunts is reluctant to send me that information claiming they cannot give any further breakdown and that the invoice has already been exported and closed out. I believe you have 30 days to ask for an itemized bill in Washington State and plan to contact the AG's office for guidance. read more

Continuing the story, the water pressure control valve, which was installed for me for $3,500 (the valve itself costs about $100), by the way the cheapest and lowest quality, started leaking 1 year and 1 month after installation. Although it should stand without problems for at least 7-8 years. The leak was not very strong and Hunt's Services sent a specialist the next day. He tightened the valve - reduced the pressure and the leak stopped. Only for 2 months. Yesterday the leak started again. And significantly. I called Hunt's Services and said that a strong leak had opened in the same place. And this is an urgent problem, but I received the answer that the next day someone will contact me and agree on when to come. I had to call other plumbers from another company for help. I even bought a valve in Home Depot in advance. They disassembled the valve right in front of me and showed that one part (gasket) is missing. And this part comes with the new valve. They installed the part and that's it - no leaks. I had to pay another $400. So not only did I pay $3,500 for the installation of a cheap valve, but the installation was seriously defective. And what's more, the specialist who came a year later couldn't identify the problem and simply tightened the valve. This is a company that provides incompetent specialists and bad parts for huge amounts of money. And it doesn't want to be held responsible for its mistakes. read more

I had Hunts Services out recently to provide me with an estimate to replace a bathroom fan and light switch connection. They quoted me $1200 for the fan and charged $291 for the light switch connection, which took less than a minute to replace. I had another electrician out and they replaced my bathroom fan motor for a total cost of $275.00, good for about 10-15 years. This is less than the simple light switch connection Hunts charged. Hunts tried to up sale a membership plan as well. I'm sure that would be like bank account quicksand. It was clear to me Hunts grossly over charged]]]]]]]]]]] this and come to realize I most likely way over paid both times. Not sure how they sleep at night treating customers in this manner. I found Hunt's Services when I lost electrical to half my home. Said visit would be $49.00. After Marc arrived, he said it would be $400 to figure out my problem. It took him an hour and said if he spent more time, it would be more. I reminded him it was $400 to find the problem and time wasn't mentioned. He located issue. It was the end of the day, so he would come back the next day. The problem was fixed, but was charged an additional $1900! My furnace is old and coming into winter I needed a maintenance service so called Hunt's. They came out quick and did an inspection where I was told that the heat exchanger had a 'large hole' and it was unsafe to use. The tech showed me a picture (attached) and I was confused because the opening looks like it's supposed to be there. I asked if he was meaning the hairline horizontal fissures in the round opening? No. He meant that hole wasn't supposed to be there. I said thanks, paid them $175, and then called for a second opinion. The sales person from Hunts tried to pressure pitch me a $5k or $7500 new furnace. Immediately started offering 50% discounts if I took installation the next day, which I didn't. Hunts is clearly a company with people on straight commission, or at least that's how they behave. Which is a bad deal for homeowners and for that I'd stay away. This almost was a $5000 mistake for this first time homeowner. The second opinion confirmed for me (glendale heating) that there's nothing catastrophic about my furnace but it does simply need cleaning. And I'm missing a couple of screws now from the last guy. He had me take a carbon monoxide hand monitor to every vent in the house to check, and nothing was present. I'm now having my furnace maintemanced, (another $225), and will be calling Glendale next year for a new furnace. read more

Description of work: Repair or replace a section of kitchen sink drain and vent pipe; also replace supply valves for kitchen sink and dishwasher. The plumbing part of the project went fine, if a little on the expensive side. The new installation appears to be functional and free of leaks. Major problem: A few days after they finished, I moved a floor mat in my kitchen and discovered a 3/16" hole drilled through the floor! (It seems that when drilling a pilot hole from the basement for the new drain pipe, they had misjudged the location of the cabinet, and drilled through the floor instead.) While on-site, they never mentioned their mistake to me. Instead, they just covered it up by moving the floor mat back into place (with some sawdust still around it). Minor problem: They also failed to clean up scraps of pipe and hole-saw cuttings, both on the ground outside the house and on the roof. The company did not respond to my emailed report of these issues, in which I included a photo of the hole in the floor. I would have expected them to at least offer to reimburse me for the cost to repair the damage. read more

THESE GUYS ARE EXPENSIVE I want to start with the good. Hunt's came to our aid in a modestly emergency situation and fixed the problem. The difficulty for me is that the price for one technician working work five hours installing two, one-foot lengths of pipe and six copper fittings (priced at less than $9 each) cost us $2,957.22. That works out to about $575 per hour. Or about $200 per hour more than my attorney charges. When I asked our technician how the price broke down in terms of time and parts I was told "Hours don't matter, you are paying for my expertise." I am open to hearing from other plumbers or customers who think that was a fair price for the work (see photo below for context). And, yes, I signed the estimate. But felt I had little choice since the water was turned off and turning Hunt's away would mean hoping to find a "popularly priced" plumber in a short time frame. The technician was a nice guy, we gave him cold water and even set up an umbrella over his work space because of the heat. I hope his work holds up because maybe if I "depreciate" the cost of this repair over the rest of our time in this house, it won't seem so horribly wrong. read more

We had a plugged toilet and I called around to find a company to get it flowing again. Hunt Services could not provide me with a quote as they said they had to come out and see the issue. The "technician" arrived and provided me 3 quotes. The first for $280 to use a Kmart brand fish tape about 3 feet long because nothing would get all the way through the toilet. The second for $780 because if the first would not work, he would have to pull the toilet "Its the only way" the 3rd for $1200 to replace the toilet because he said was construction grade and the problem would only repeat. I asked if he had a longer snake and he said no. The Cheap 3 ft was the only thing that would get through the toilet. Danny was rude and condescending and believing that because he was right there, I would concede and have him fix the problem and he would walk away with up to $2,000. I declined. I found a local plumber in Burien, he was out that night at 8:30pm. He had a snake that would go past the toilet and unclogged the drain in 10 minutes. All that for $180. Be aware that Hunt Services is only on the hunt for your money. 1. No quote 2. Layer after layer of bids knowing full well that the 1st quote would not work. 3. Trying to force an upgrade (my toilet has worked flawlessly for over 5 years) 4. Rude "technicians" who obviously are on commission and only care about getting their commission. As a small business owner - I am embarrassed for them as they come across as folksy small businesspeople, when, in my opinion, they are simply opportunist praying on the misfortunes of others. Get a few bids - don't be desperate and save yourself thousands of dollars by staying away from Hunt Services. Thats just my opinion. read more

Just like another review here on Yelp, I needed furnace service, the guy came out and told me it had all these problems including the heat exchanger, he gave me an outrageous estimate to repair and another outrageous one to replace. I looked up the cost of the heat exchanger, he quoted me about $2300, I found it for as low as $350-$850. I got 4 other quotes from local HVAC companies, all of their quotes were cheaper to replace the furnace, than their bid to replace it like for like. I used Hunts in 2016 and attempted to use it again in 2021. I will start with 2021, as it is most recent. We wanted a new kitchen faucet installed. They were about a week out on jobs, so we scheduled and waited. Day of the job, I waited all day long before receiving a call at 3:30 that a technician had a family emergency and they were not going to be able to get to me. They requested to reschedule 3 days later and offered $35 off. I accepted and was thanked for being so understanding. Today, again I waited all day... at 11:30, I received a call stating that they were running behind but would definitely be there today. I expressed frustration and that I would be more of priority since I was already rescheduled. The dispatcher said that people who had no plumbing at all were the priority. I reconfirmed they would be here today, she said yes. I called at 1:30 to confirm again they were still on track to come to my house. Then at 3:30 dispatch called and said I am so sorry we will have to reschedule again. I said absolutely not, you proved you do not want my money and I will be using someone else. Dispatch again began to explain other people had plumbing emergencies, not to say I was any less important..... Back in 2016, we called for help to repair a leaking shower head. While attempting to fix ourselves we broke our main water shut off valve. Hunts showed quickly for us that time, just with a really high price and an injury to myself. They removed and installed a new shut off valve, which was located in my kitchen pantry and then headed upstairs to work on the shower. While upstairs, the fitting on the new shut off valve burst and water was spraying everywhere. I jumped up to try to contain the mess and slipped and fell really hard on the tile in my kitchen. I hit my tail bone really hard and busted open my elbow in the fall. The technician and apprentice ran downstairs to fix the problem and the whole time was more concerned about us leaving a bad review rather than seeing if I was OK or showing any concern for me at all. I tried to nurse my wounded pride and pretend it wasn't that bad.. at the time I was more embarrassed and felt bad for them, but today I am really angry and will make sure my review is shared here and throughout my community. read more

We found out we had a water leak this morning and Hunt's was here by 1:00 to fix it! In that time frame we also got a quote from Roto Rooter. Not only were they super fast to arrive and fix the Ieak, the tech was able to resolve the problem for literally $2000 less than Roto Rooter! In addition, it's nice that they send an actual technician out, rather than an estimator who knows very little (the other company). The technician was also very friendly and knowledgeable. When I first reached out, I got very fast service concerning my dryer duck. The gentleman actually went into the crawlspace to see if the dryer duct could be made straighter. It turns out it could not, but he did recommend that I get the duct clean which I did, and it only cost me minimum amount of money. The only reason I had not gotten the ducks cleaned before was because of the price they wouldn't like $500 to do it and I wasn't gonna pay that much. Honestly, I was frightened, so I paid, just to get hem to leave. My handyman looked at it today. It needs a $20 part, and a "few minutes" to install. I used Hunt's 2 weeks ago for running a 220v dryer line from the breaker box to garage and it went flawlessly. The work was "to code", the guys cleaned up after themselves and left nothing for me to do other than buy a dryer. 5 star experience. I'm now having them plumb into existing pipes to route hot and cold water for the washer and install a drain as well. They're promising it to be a 3 day job and was reasonably priced for the amount of work involved. Update : Completion was delivered as promised and the plumbing work was immaculate. After the initial conversation the person I spoke with told me they would come by the following day, but were unable to give me any sort of time window at all. Luckily I work from home so it was possible for me to be home all day waiting for these people to show up. They didn't. No communication, so attempt to reschedule, nothing.
