    Grilled Pork with Bones
    Faith V.

I would come here as a kid and their banhmi's were my meals after school and weekends. But later over the years the quality lessened, sandwich meats became more grey, and the prices increase from $5 to $6 to $7, and thinking the menu was still $7.99 as I placed my phone to tap pay, it was actually around $8.99 without taxes. I thought didn't mind it as much but I am drawing the line when the current and last banhmi had bones in the grilled pork. How and why and whyy? I was fishing out bones in the scarce grilled pork meat scattered in the sandwich realizing the sandwich is thin and small and priced significantly more than the hassle. As I bit on an alarmingly amount bone, I was shocked to realize the second time I ordered I got even more with larger and tiny pieces. Huang Luang is a staple in the neighborhood, but they need to improve and stop cutting in areas that leads to potential choking hazards. From an adult who ate here as a kid, do better please.

Great place for pho in the clovis/kings canyon area i am a regular there and always order a large #28 the default broth is nice and Umami and sometimes i just eat it as is without adding in any other condiments such as hoisin/sriracha etc. the variety of sandwich selections are a must too and i favor the vietnamese coffee, thai teas, and freshly squeezed sugar cane juices

Omg the food here was so good! Cheap and yummy great for a gathering or quick meal. The service is good they come quickly and keep the place clean.

4/08/24 Getting lunch. A major language barrier. A lot of repeating to try to confirm the order of grilled chicken vermicelli & shrimp spring rolls that I ordered. I asked to make the grilled chicken vermicelli spicy and he had issues understanding that part. He says it would be ready. I went in to get it hoping for the best! Saw the order and not at all what I wanted. It was a chicken wing, breast & leg on top of vermicelli noodles and they were plain. Nothing on them. =/ Darn language barrier. I ended up showing him pictures in the restaurant and told him that was how I wanted it. He said okay and would make it. 10 minute wait! Made fresh! Restaurant is nice. Safe & clean. Pictures of their food all over the walls. Booths and tables with chairs. Large. Lunchtime! Order split. Shrimp spring roll was fresh & Delicious! The peanut sauce with it was really good too! Grilled chicken "chow mein" was really good! Fresh veggies, tasty chicken and noodles. Even better with the hot sauce topping they include on the side. Mother said hers was Great, especially with the fresh jalapeños. Leftovers too! One order is a lot! Definitely recommended for the food, but not for the experience. Okay service. Thankfully, it all worked out. Just a bit much in getting it worked out. A process! FYI!

This place has got to be the dirtiest with the rudest employee ever. The cashier/hostess/server (one per person) was rude from the moment we walked in. Honestly we all should have left. We had a party of 3. The employee already looked annoyed when we walked in. He said sit anywhere. When we found a spot, he came out immediately and asked what we wanted. We asked for a menu and he rolled his eyes with a huff. He expected we knew what we wanted because we're Asian I guess? When he comes back, he tosses ONE menu for the three of us to look at on the table instead of handing it me when my hand was out. I told my party I didn't want to eat here and let's leave but one still wanted to eat here. I proceeded to look at the menu despite not wanting to eat here. I ended up ordering a Vietnamese specialty sandwich combination of 1 and 2. There was more bread than the filling and definitely not enough pate. My friend got a medium meatball pho (watered down and too sweet), (ask for extra noodles - no extra charge) . My other friend ordered steamed rice with veggies/chicken (it was ok but oily). We also ordered shrimp pork spring rolls but it had a lot of noodles and lettuce, shrimps were cut in half and pork was extremely thin to even taste it. Dipping sauce had good flavor. Our cashier/host/sever never checked on us never brought our drinks that we asked for, only water, never brought us our check. We had to go to the front counter to get our check and to pay up front as well. The floor needed some sweeping and definitely mopping. Bathroom smelled a mix of cleaning products and mold. I will never in my life ever come back here. What a shame to our Vietnamese culture and food.

    Grilled Chicken over Rice

The food itself is great; I was just disappointed in the portion size. I usually go to the other Hong Lan location, but I was in the area so I decided to try this one. Staff was helpful and the interior, although pretty old, seemed clean. I got my food to go... here's what I got & here's what I thought: Grilled Chicken over Rice (5/5): The chicken itself is SO GOOD-- the perfect mix of sweet and salty! It's tender, flavorful, and juicy. The only downside to this plate is that I would probably have to eat 2 or 3 of these trays to actually be full. For $16, I thought the portion would be a bit bigger than just 3 small pieces of chicken.

Our third visit and that time we stay an eat there. They have plenty of room and tables to seat. The waiter was friendly but not too attentive. We had to be looking for him to ask for sauce. They didn't have it on the table. My daughter order her usual as pe the last visita. She likes the Pork short ribs with rice. They add some salad with it. My husband tried the shaking beef with rice and some salad. He got In love with this dish. He loved the take, the meat was so tender and flavorful. It's was not overcooked. Just perfect. My soup was on point. I wish they have vegetables broth. Since it's been a while since I ate any meat the soup tasted with too much chicken flavor. I had to put some sauces to get rid of the flavor. This is just me because I don't eat meat. For other people this would be delicious! So, after I put more lemon and siracha it tasted delicious. I really wanted some soup. Prices have gone up but this is everywhere. So just be prepared.

Their ordering process is 1) order at the counter 2) they bring you your order to your table 3) you go back up to the counter to pay your bill. Surprise that don't just allow you to pay when you order. Eliminates going back and forth. Onto the food! I ordered the bun vermicelli bowl with egg roll and grilled pork. The pork was too fatty for my liking. I could only eat one piece and couldn't eat anymore. I was expecting the thin leaner cuts that I'm accustomed to from other restaurants. The egg rolls were different as well. One of them has shrimp and diced onions in it. When I bit into that egg roll, the shrimp slid out and all that was left was a hollow egg roll with some diced onions. The other one was fine and what I was expecting of an egg roll. Other than these two, the rest of the dish was as expected with enough of the sauce to round the dish out. Service was good but the restaurant lacked air conditioning. I would have ordered pho had it not been so hot. Next time, I'll give the pho a try but definitely skip the pork bun bowl.

My family and I come often but, sadly we won't be coming to this location anymore, it is just so dirty inside, the camera's and fan's have the thickest layer of dust on them, the floors are so dirty and the door has so many smudges, the walls and are dirty and sticky, mind you this was at noon, so this is not a day's problem this has been going on for some time, I've been hoping for it to change. Honestly, just made me not want to eat the food just thinking what the kitchen looks like. Really hope management will deep clean and sanitize because I would love to continue to support this location.

A hole in the wall place, so don't expect anything fancy inside. The food is authentic and have a broad range of choices. The steam rice noodle is delicious, fresh and flavorful with lots of fillings. And a couple fried rolls that are interesting. Service is ok, friendly and food comes out fast. They ran out of ice coffee and the milk coffee is too sweet for me as they are using condensed milk.

The eggs and meat came out on a sizzling try. There were two sunny side up eggs, thick cut of sweet/salty/tender marinated beef, small mushrooms, and pate on top. Paired with the bread this was a very comforting and delicious dish. The Nam Nuong rolls were good. Good portion of fillings and great crunchiness of the eggrolls wrappers and thick cut of the nam Nuong pork. I was only disappointed in the sauce. It was good but lacking depth of flavors. I think my expectation was it go be like the ones at Brodard's. And it wasn't. Located in the back corner, it can be a little hard to find parking if it gets busy but there is also the side parking lot. There was a wait list but we waited in line at the to go counter to ask to be seated. We were given our water and ordered. Once the food was dropped off we weren't checked up on again but this didn't bother us and you pay at the counter afterwards. The place had a lot of seatings with some seatings outside. There were tv playing Vietnamese food channels that was cool. I didn't get anything from their huge options of drinks and Che this time though. Looking forward to doing so next time. If you haven't tried this place, I would highly recommend their Vietnamese sandwiches with extra pate and butter.

You do have the option to order your dish with regular thin noodles, flat noodles, or egg noodles. The broth is basil-y and the flavor has great depth. They have a self-serve station for condiments where you can grab some chili oil, jalapeños, bean sprouts, and lime. My memory is shot. I don't want to be handing out 5 stars so easily but I think they deserve it. The restaurant is very clean, and I love the little Asian lanterns they have, all different, above each table. Plenty of seating. When we got there (a little after 5), there was only one other table occupied... by the time we left (6:30), every table was nearly taken. Our waitress, as well as the other on the floor, were both very welcoming and friendly. They handled the service remarkably as a team. The fact that they were a packed house and still were very attentive with us, checking how we're doing, checking on our water refills... these are the little things I appreciate most (and, of course, good food). I got the Pho with the Fatty Brisket, my friend got just the Steak Pho. They have a bar against the wall with all garnishes you may need to grab what you'd like. This is pretty smart... It saves them from waste. Instead of giving people items they may not use-- they would just grab what they'd like themselves. My friend grabbed her goodies, I prefer mine as is. To me, if your broth is good and doesn't require me to flavor it... I'll eat it just like that (unless I feel like adding spice). I've only ever been to a few other Pho places where I had to season up the broth myself...definite no no for them. All my friends who have gone out to eat Pho with me know I eat it just how I get it. Pho from my Mama is a different story though... I put the works (not because it's not flavorful) but, it's just different. Moving on... They also have a Teazona in their establishment. I've tried a few different drinks in the past but came to regularly deciding on the Tiramisu Milk Tea (no flan for me, light boba). Make sure to shake it well. You can also let them know your preference on the level of sweetness. We both got this tonight and it nearly tipped me over on the full scale. Couldn't finish it. Everything was really good though. Pho was the perfect choice for this weird, gloomy weather we've been having. The price is a bit up there but that seems to be the norm everywhere nowadays. But-- for the portion, the quality, and the service? Worth it.

I couldn't help myself and active point picked up my bowl and just started sipping the broth. My wife ordered the same thing as I, minus the meatballs and she too, could not get over how much flavor the broth had, almost like they had been slow cooking this for the past three days straight. The spring rolls were 100% handmade and the filling inside was delicious. We did bring our kids with us and we're definitely nervous because they are very picky eaters. Broth had the right amount of saltiness where I didn't need to add much. And you can actually taste the spices which I'm pretty huge on. Big flavor bomb indeed. Cons: My only knock is skimming on the noodles and meat. For $18, you do pay a little higher than most places. I'd definitely pay that for the quality alone but felt shorted. Customers are smart, they pick up on things all the time. I just wish this was improved and this place easily gets a 5 star. Definitely will be one of my new go to places for Pho in town!
