    What I received at Hurricane Allie's 0/10

I used to come here quite frequently for food and drinks. The last time I came here in a Saturday night I ordered 2 draft beers and Reuben sandwich. Beers were barely cold, service was terrible and the Reuben had 2 slices of meat on it. Probably won't be coming back if this is the kind of slop they are serving here. Step it up!

This is one philly we got.

OK... So we eat at Allie's at least once a month (for years). They WERE one of the best places in KC to get a Philly Steak sandwich until we came to eat SAT 5/17. The male short order cook made an abomination for our to-go order. Got home and it was horrendous looking slices of burnt, tasteless steak with hardly any peppers/onions. And the "cheese" was something that looked like a product of a reproductive organ. Fed it all to feral cats outside. And this was the same night that the internet/phone provider had it's network vandalized... so we couldn't call them to voice our displeasure. So if you or we walk in and there is a man cooking... just might need to turn around and walk out.

I love this place for karaoke!!! Thursday's and Fridays are the nights to go! KJ Chad on Thursday is so fun and everyone seems to know him! Tracy is so great, we always have drinks in our hand! She works so hard Love Hurricane Allies!!

I'm so glad Allie's fought to keep her place open until midnight during COVID! As a near-regular for their Friday night karaoke, it's nice to know a place to hang out these days! A purchase is necessary to sing karaoke, but - as the menu shows - it's not a big sacrifice. I put newest menu & daily specials on for your review. Now - the person who MAKES Allie's run smooth as silk, even when busy (Covid busy, you know), is TRACY! It was great to have ALEX back in the kitchen, but I've seen TWO servers with a cook not keep up like Tracy & Alex - all while keeping their cool & sense of humor. Without them, especially Tracy - I don't know how they'd do it. All the KJs are great - Jordan, Devin, Craig - the new guy (LOL) & you can go get your sing on Thursday-Saturday- just sign in after me!

Love this place...Been open since Sept 2010...Been told it was the location of the old "cheifs" bar (not sure about that). It's a small litter place with great food and friendly people. Has different specials everynight. Sunday they have a free poker league, that starts at 4, come join it's lots of fun!!! The food is great..ask for the cheesy corn, it's sweet with a bit of kick to it, all Allie would tell me is that it has jalopeno's in it....it sure is yummy. So if you looking for a clean bar this is diffently the place to try out.

Our server had our drinks ready quickly and was really nice. It wasn't super busy, but since it was the last day of this pop-up, they were out of most food and a couple of the drinks. We didn't plan to eat so it wasn't an issue! The drinks weren't the best ever, but they were fun and still good. The decor was perfect!!! Overall a great experience and we'll definitely be back for another pop-up!

Immediately upon entering the smell of vinegar hits you. We sit down and look over our menu. They had sold out of a lot of their beers and some food items the night before, so they weren't available. They had a lot of fun drinks to chose from though. I decided to start with the Winifred. When I got my glass I was a little shocked. It was $13, and small with a lot of ice. I brushed this off thinking well it's a pop up bar and specialized for Hocus Pocus theme. I took a sip and was shocked. It was as if the drink wasn't mixed. All the syrup was at the bottom and all the alcohol was at the top. From the looks of my friends they too were not enjoying their drinks. Sadly this is not where my experience ended. After receiving our drinks, no one came to check on us. We decide to move to another location, but it took a long time for our server to get to us so we could pay our bill. I was sadly disappointed with my experience.

Low light, hidden-away energy, the whole vibe from the second you're through the door. Bartender Kate asked if I wanted a specialty cocktail and I said absolutely. She built me something based on a mojito I first had in Dallas -- mint, cucumber, and a habanero syrup that sneaks up on you in the best way. Cool and sweet up front, then a slow burn on the finish. I could have sat there sipping those all afternoon, which is exactly why I made myself stop at one. This is a real find. Genuinely undiscovered gem territory, and I'll be back.

I highly recommend visiting if you are looking for an intimate night out and wanting to sip on tasty cocktails! We will return.

I went to the Coach Lite about 2 weeks ago to see my friends' band play for their CD release party…read more I understand they only held the show here because it's their "birth place." This is the first bar they started playing in and the became part of this odd family there... and an odd family, it is! This little hole in the wall is strange. It's difficult to navigate because of how small it is. There are literally 4 tables to seat in here, and not a lot of standing room. I'm not sure if it was really dirty in there, or if the wood paneling and low lighting gives the illusion of dirt. The drinks were cheap, but limited. They only have like Budlight and Miller High Life class of beers... but on that note, they don't have PBR... which was surprising to me, since it seems to be a Kansas City epidemic of sorts. They do however sell giant cans of Monster for 3 bucks! Cheaper than QT! :) And if things couldn't get weirder... they did. There is no stage, so the band was literally playing in the arcade section of the bar. The lack of space didn't stop two completely wasted girls from dancing wildly and knocking things over, including themselves and band equipment. Maybe going back on a normal night, no event, less people, etc... maybe then, I could change my mind about this place. But as of right now, I don't have much intention on returning. If you're looking for a small backwoods, midwest American bar, this is the place for you.

OffKey itself is a fun karaoke bar with private rooms for groups. Our group had a great time going through various songs in the catalogue and enjoying a few drinks. We didn't spend much time at the actual bar out in the main area, but it looked snazzy and our waitress was on the ball with drinks to our private room. My minor quibbles are that several of the songs...the lyrics weren't actually right? And it didn't seem like the mics worked particularly well. But it was good enough for friends just having drinks blasting out well known tunes together. Overall it was a good time. Just dress appropriately for the walk over, make sure you've got your ID (they card), and try not to sing too far...off key.

The room was reasonably comfortable, though maybe could have used one or two more TVs to reduce neck strain for all the seating. The person taking orders for our room was friendly but slow to bring orders or circle back for new orders. We appreciated having some cups and water left for us to fill the gap between drinks. The sound system or the platform they use at times was difficult to hear the music prompts to follow along. The music seemed a bit too stripped down to pick up at times especially when several people were singing along. The system would add it's own song suggestions, which I can understand the reasoning for that, but it ended up kind of overwhelming our list of preferred songs and we ended up having to frequently skip several songs in a row that had been added "for us". The "disco lights" in the room added a fun touch but there were a couple that were like red laser lights that ended up being a bit too much as they'd zap you in the eyes while trying to watch the screen. I did leave with a stiff neck and a bit of a headache from the lights, but it had already been a long day at the office so that likely added to it.
