I was there on a busy night to see a band. Friends and I sat at the bar. The bartender asked to hold a credit card until I settled the bill as it was busy. I said I want to pay cash, she said you can pay cash at the end I won't charge your card. I paid my tab in cash, got my card back. When my credit card statement came, I saw my card was charged. Left several messages for a manager - no response. Finally spoke to one. He said he had to call back. Never heard back from after leaving several more messages. Finally spoke to a different manager. I've never been to Hurricane but I must admit that it was a lot better than I thought it would be. I've had multiple opportunities to pay a visit in different areas and didn't bother. We decided the time had come and ordered a few things. I really love the wide variety of sauces and rubs to choose from. I was super excited to see mango habanero, being the pepper lover that I am. It was a nice sweet sauce with heat that builds up. It definitely wasn't as hot as I expected though. The garlic parm fries were soggy when I received them and I'm hoping it was just due to the plastic containers they were in for takeout. The flavor wasn't as great as I'd hoped but wasn't awful. Just a little disappointing. My fiancé was blown away by the firecracker shrimp though, so I guess that made up for the fries. He ate every bit and they smelled amazing. Just an FYI, when ordering a wing count, it goes by pieces. So the 5 wing order is 5 pieces (not the full wing which is the drum and flat). That was a little confusing when ordering because most places I've ordered from consider a "wing" the drum and flat. We returned to Hurricane Grill & Wings in Poughkeepsie to enjoy great friends, food, service, and live music! Our server was Ms. Madison and everyone at our table thought she was the best! Madison was very sweet, attentive, and did not rush us. I explained what kind of drink I wanted, and she gave good suggestions. My drinks were mostly ice, but that is common in most places. Our food was delicious and delivered hot. As busy as it was, Madison checked our table throughout the night to make sure we had everything we needed. She was very efficient! Probable Cause played and they were incredible! You can't beat live music. Overall, we all had a great time, enjoyed what we had, and were treated very well! Well, first off coming in we were welcomed to a good host and asked where we wanted to sit, which was outside. The ambience and the scenery is wonderful. Once we were seated we were greeted with our waitress, asking us what we wanted to drink. Upon letting her know that we still need time to think she went ahead and let us be for the moment. She went to go get our waters, and came back in a timely manner. While still looking at the menu and decided what we wanted, we waited approximately 20 to 25 minutes, waiting for her to come back to our table to take our order. We also noticed that she did come back outside and went to another table and passed us completely, and went to another waiter, they were chitchatting. The only way she knew that we were waiting for so long was because another waitress had asked us if we were being helped yet. Although the food was very delicious and was very worth the price. We just wish that we had better customer service. Don't know if I'll be returning to sit and eat, but definitely will take the food to go. read more

My first thought, when I checked in, was, "Why haven't I heard of this place before?" Then I found out it has only been open for a week. Then my thought was, "And it's already bursting at the seams after only a week, and Vassar isn't in session?" WHOAAAAA! This has already become THE place to hang for the summer. No surprise, with a lot of outdoor seating, and 2-for-1 drinks for happy hours. Though I have heard you are better off sticking with beer and wine for the 2-for-1; several people said their mixed drinks were watered down. The drinks I had did not seem that way - but be aware, there's usually justification when these rumors abound. My meal was quite good. I had the half-pound angus steak burger, with applewood smoked bacon and cheese, and the other basics, i.e., lettuce, tomato, and red onion. It was cooked to order with good flavor. I substituted "hurricane slaw" instead of fries. The slaw was good, but it's amazing how little slaw you get instead of fries - cabbage is NOT that expensive people! We had a few speed bumps when it came to bill time. Evidently New York State law requires that when there are buy-1-get-1-free drink specials, you must order 2 of the same. In our case, 2 of us split the drink orders for 2 different drinks. Initially they tried to charge us full price for all 4 drinks. When we protested, they moved each pair of drinks to one check so we could get the discount. So watch out for that. They also have a rewards program you can join. I have been going to Hurricane's for 5 years and it is, hands down, my favorite place to go out to!! Time to let the world at large know a few things, so here goes!! For starters, I love the atmosphere and they have a great selection on their menu. My favorite appetizer is the giant, hot pretzel with the dipping cheese, and I have several entrees that I usually gravitate towards. The fish and chips portion size is very generous, so that's my go to when I'm super hungry, otherwise I usually get one of the tacos or wing selections. I've really never been disappointed with any food there, and I think they have the best drinks anywhere. I love the Solarita, and actually any of their mixed drinks. The bartenders are TOP notch and never overpour. They make the drinks so that they are really perfectly blended to bring out the flavors of each drink like a good mixologist ought to!! I can't stress that enough. Of course, my husband likes his Stella Artois, and the beer on tap is always fresh. I like that they have locally crafted brews as well as some tried and true national brands. And let's not forget Saturday night for a possibility of a local band livening up the night!! There have also been plenty of Friday nights after work meeting up with friends and family to sit at the bar from the outside at the open window. Quite the amazing ambiance because the pergolas and flower arrangements are so nice to look at. It really takes you away to a different place. It's hard to believe you are in Poughkeepsie, NY!!! I went to Hurricane grill about 2 months ago because I wanted to see a band that I liked called The Crew. I took a seat outside since that's where the band was playing. I was by myself. Shortly after I sat down, a waitress came to my table with drinks, However, I told her they were not for me. I told the waitress, when you come back, I'd like to order something. She never came back to my table. As a matter of fact, the entire wait staff completely ignored my table. All of them walked right by my table. I was the only table without glasses or dishes on them. I was therefor 3 hours. I contacted the general manager of the store, Jesus Berrospi via letter as well as corporate telling them about my experience at the restaurant. I have concluded that if you come alone, you are invisible. I got no response from either one.
