I finally made it out to Pikes Place to try Hellenika on a warm spring day. For those who are familiar with the local Ellenos greek yogurt, Hellenika is their cultured gelato. As a fan of their regular greek yogurt (and frozen desserts in general), I knew I had to give them a try! At 3:30pm, the line was already out the door and about 50 people long (by 5:30pm, the line was closer to 70 people long). It took my group about 20 minutes to get through the line. The inside is relatively small and tight. There is no indoor seating (which is a bummer if you come on a cold or rainy day) but there are some outdoor tables with umbrellas lined along the sidewalk shared among businesses. Hellenika makes their yogurt every 20 minutes and so you know it's fresh as they pour the mixture into the rotating churn machines in front of you. They have eight rotating flavors on a seasonal basis and you can order a kid's size (i.e. "Walkaround") for $6.95, medium for $9.15, large for $13.35, and flight (the equivalent of 8 kid's scoops) for $26.25 plus tax. If you want a split scoop, they charge $0.85. My partner and I split a FLIGHT so that we could try all eight flavors. The flavors they currently have (as of May 2026) are LONDON FOG, LEMON CURD, UBE COCONUT, BLACK SESAME WITH MOCHI, DUTCH CHOCOLATE, APPLE PIE USA, AUSTRALIA TIM TAM SLAM, and BISCOFF. Although the kid's size cups look small, they pack the scoops and so the flight was honestly more than we had anticipated and could've easily fed 4 people instead of 2 (it's no wonder they gave us seven spoons). - LONDON FOG - this flavor was decent and tasted more like lemon lavender than an actual london fog. My second favorite of the flight. - LEMON CURD - this was the best flavor of the bunch as the tart curd went well with the tart yogurt/gelato. Reminded me of the Ellenos lemon curd yogurt cups! - UBE COCONUT - I was a little perplexed by this flavor. While the coconut flavor was strong, the tartness from the gelato overpowered the sweetness of the ube. I did appreciate the coconut flakes mixed in though. - BLACK SESAME WITH MOCHI - As a black sesame and mochi fan, I was very much looking forward to this flavor after seeing it featured multiple times in my Instagram feed. However, this flavor unfortunately was the bottom of the list for me. The mochi had a hard texture and similar to the ube, the tartness just overpowered any sweetness. - DUTCH CHOCOLATE - the chocolate shown through in this one, but again, had a slight sour aftertaste from the yogurt which I didn't like. I thought this one would be sweeter, given that it's chocolate, but was not so. - APPLE PIE USA - this flavor worked because the apples were slightly tart to begin with. The cinnamon also mellowed out the tartness of the yogurt and so this one was maybe my third favorite. - AUSTRALIA TIM TAM SLAM - I didn't know what a Tim Tam was, but apparently it's a chocolate covered wafer. This one actually tasted less like chocolate, and more like coffee/mocha as there were definitely some bitter notes mixed in. It tasted like overnight tiramisu oats without the sweetener. - BISCOFF - this one was probably the sweetest of the bunch and like the Apple Pie, had good cinnamon flavor that hid the tartness. I'm not a huge Biscoff fan to begin with, but I liked the crunch of the Biscoff cookies mixed in. While the service (once you get to the front of the line) was great and the scoop sizes were huge, I was unfortunately left underwhelmed by the gelato overall. I had high expectations, but my foodie friend and I agreed that it just missed the mark for us. While the texture was nice and creamy, I think I actually prefer my treats a little sweeter and with less tang (and that's coming from someone who used to like Red Mango's tart frozen yogurt and who orders 30% sweetness on drinks). With that said, I think I'll be sticking to Shugs, Molly Moons, or Salt & Straw instead next time I'm at Pikes Place.

Worth the hype! I would describe this as the perfect hybrid of gelato and yogurt. We chose the ube coconut flavor, and it was amazing. The texture was rich and creamy, and there was just a little bit of tartness which went perfectly with the sweetness of the coconut and ube.

I learned about this ice cream parlor from IG for their viral swirling creamery videos. When we first passed by the store in the afternoon hours, there was a huge line out the door, about half an hour wait time. Luckily when we passed by it again next morning, there wasn't any line, so we decided to try it out. The store is small. Everyone walks thru the aisle and during the turn you get to see the churning flavors. They had 8 flavors available. They hand out small portions for the flavors guests want to try. The scoops come in three cup sizes of S, M, L and a split option available as well. Prices are between $7 and $14. We tried the mango, lime curd, and ube coconut flavors. Mango was my favorite. We got small cups of mango and ube coconut. But even small cups had such large scoops, we kept eating for a while. The ice cream was so dense and creamy, very unique texture. The staff member were super friendly. They were smiling all the time and handing tasting spoons to all guests without any fuss. The checkout process was quick and simple. We were delighted to be able to try out this viral spot.

Had to stop at Hellenika Cultured Creamery while exploring Pike Place Market and it did not disappoint. The gelato is incredibly creamy, rich, and packed with flavor -- you can truly taste the freshness in every bite. I loved that everything is churned every 20 minutes or less, which gives it such a smooth texture. The menu has a great mix of staple favorites and fun seasonal rotations, so there's always something new to try. The staff was friendly, patient, and happy to let us sample flavors before choosing (honestly, you'll want to try them all). The shop itself is bright, spotless, and super easy to order from, which made the whole experience even better. Portions are the perfect size, prices are reasonable for Pike Place Market, and the quality is absolutely worth it. If you're visiting Pike Place and want a refreshing treat, this place is a must-stop. The Honey Lavender and Ube Coconut were amazing! And the Mango Tajin is not one to be slept on.

Absolutely loved Hellenika and their cultured gelato! Right by Pike's Place and we happened to stumble upon it. From other reviews we were lucky there wasn't a long line! Thought the 20 minute churning was neat to see as well as the windows into their kitchen. Appreciated being able to sample! I ended up going with a different direction than I originally would have because of the samples. Coconut Ube was so good! Has little pieces of coconut which adds to the texture and the Plain Greek almost tastes like cheesecake. A small was plenty too and loved you could do two flavors even for a small.

We were visiting Pike Place Market and saw a LONG LINE for this ice cream place so we decided to try. Hellenika is known for gelato made with local milk and live cultures, blending Greek aspects. Small menu for the flavors. You can sample as many as you like. I got ube coconut. It's creamy and soft. Fresh for sure. As we eating it, it didn't melt at all. I know that's definitely a good quality gelato. I found the small cup was still too much for me. You can ask for a split (half and half) to buy more flavors. It's a very popular spot. Line up to order, take some pictures then exit. No tables or seats inside. Nice Greek theme through out the store. The lady was very nice and patient with all the customers. (Imaging everyone asks for multiple samples). Highly recommended to try it out. Go early to avoid the line (we did that).

So glad I got to try this place! I went mid-afternoon on a weekday and there was almost no wait. They have all their flavors displayed on the wall, and they will update with these red stickers next to the flavor if it's current unavailable but is churning. I think when we entered, the ube flavor was unavailable and just started churning but by the time we ordered, it was already done. I liked that we were able to sample everything and they're really generous with the samples as well. The only thing was that the specific person helping us felt super rushed and was handing us samples super quick consecutively, and I felt like there was a pressure to just finish the samples as quickly as possible instead of getting to process the taste a little bit. The flavors were really good and obvious, not like sometimes when I feel like you really have to think about if the ice cream really has the flavor they label it as. The creaminess didn't feel heavy at all and was actually quite refreshing.

Came here around 4pm Sunday on a sunny day. Line was long. We probably waited 40 minutes. The ice cream was tasty very rich and creamy. They let us sample all the flavors. Our favorites were definitely ube coconut!! Also lemon curd and honey lavender.

I love ice cream and especially LOVE A creamery! Hellenika's has been sneaking its way onto my feeds because of their unique flavors and delicious milk taste. They even offer flights in case you want to try a few flavors. It's located at Pike Place making it a busy location but the line goes by quickly and there's nowhere to sit so it's a quick grab and go spot. I would have liked to be able to enjoy my ice cream there but maybe they'll expand eventually. They're constantly churning ice cream and sometimes you might need to wait a few minutes for it to be ready but it's well worth it. I wasn't patient enough unfortunately but something to consider. I of course tried a few before deciding and was shocked that the flavors were a lot more subtle than expected. The milky taste was there but not enough for me.

This ice cream tasted out of this world! I've never had ice cream taste so smooth and creamy with such vibrant flavors. The worker was extremely helpful and gave us multiple flavors to try. Ube and mango were my absolute flavors. This place is a must visit when in Seattle.

Tried London Fog during my first time. The second time, we tried marionberry and raspberry coconut, 7th inning, and Dutch chocolate. The churned gelato was the best that I have ever had. It was smooth and perfectly sweet with real ingredients. Depending on the time of the day, there may be a line. If you go when they open, there is no line. There are no tables to sit at but you can just eat the Pike's Market. The servers were all friendly.

Yooo, *bold* black sesame taste in the xian black sesame mochi Greek gelato with a tangy flair. Though the more I ate it the more I realized that it's a tad too sweet for me; I couldn't finish a small size. I also tried the cantaloupe flavor (pretty tart, almost as tart as a sorbet lol) and the ube coconut flavor (deliciously tastes *just* like Magnolia ube ice cream :p). No line when visiting on a Thursday afternoon in early March.

I have walked by Hellenika Cultured Creamery at Pike Place Market so many times, and the line is always insane even in the dead of winter. The zombie-like insanity coveting Hellenika is in competition for the (not-)first Starbucks steps away. Well, as luck would have it that we finally encountered a short line on a pouring rainy day. The inside is sparkling clean with canisters of whirling ice cream. Even though we sampled some from a very kind staff member, we opted to get a takeaway container instead. I won the rock-paper-scissors over hubby and chose the Marionberry. I still want the Seattle/London Fog and Lemon Curd in the future, while he wants the Ube Coconut next. The ice cream is super rich and thick. The marionberry flavor is full of berry goodness. I am glad I bought the take-out container. I learned that I want only about two tablespoons at a time. It is soooo rich! I also learned something else. These are at select grocery stores, too!

As you can see from my review years ago, when my hubs and I came back from a trip to Italy, we wanted to find a gelato shop that had the same quality as the shops in Rome. Not all the gelato and sorbetto we had in Italy was good, some flavors tasted artificial, and during our time there, we learned how to tell the good from the meh. When we returned to Seattle, we were happy to find great-Italy-like gelato at the Bottega Italiana in Green Lake. After that shop closed (still sad about that!) we started going to their other shop by Pike Place Market. For years, this place featured delicious, fresh, quality gelato and sorbetto that tasted like the flavors they were labeled with--so strawberry tasted like eating real strawberries and so on. But on a recent visit, I got a small cup with strawberry and raspberry-dragon fruit and the first flavor I got when I tasted it was sugar. As I ate more of it, it started to remind me of Jolly Rancher candies, not totally, but enough to turn me off. They use just enough fruit to make you believe it's the flavor that it's labeled with, but the amount of sugar and other things added makes their fruit flavors as meh as the not-so-good shops we learned to avoid in Rome. Alas, I think my favorite gelato shop in Seattle has fallen prey to profit over quality. Why, Bottega Italiana, why??? It makes me and my hubs very sad. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because the service was friendly and efficient, and my hubs's dairy-based gelato flavors were all right--not great but all right. Over the years, we've tried all the other gelato shops in Seattle and none of them measure up either. I guess it's time we take another trip to Italy.
