I experienced Terrible customer service, from Amanda Callahan and Amber, as a (14 year) long standing HVAC maintenance contract customer with Hutchison. They both were very instituting, unprofessional, disrespectful, antagonistic, and refused to send a service technician to my home because I questioned a dispatch fee; while I agreed to pay the fee. I was told they would Not send a service technician to my home because I informed them I was going to call the Dispatch Manager, the next business day, with my complaint. My complaint was about a dispatch fee ($64.00) being charged for something that should have been addressed/cleaned in my recently performed Annual AC preventive maintenance contract cost of $519.00. I witness all Hutchinson Service Techs while working in my home and over the years; less service is performed, the Techs take shortcuts, or completely skip service that should be and is normally performed. For example: outside condenser units are not cleaned and inside AC condensate drain lines are not checked to be free and clear of debris. In summary, my AC condensate drain line was not checked in the recent annual maintenance contract service performed ( because I witnessed the service) resulting in condensate overflowing on my basement floor; a few days ago. Adding insult to injury, I was charged a dispatch fee ($64.00) for something that should have been checked and cleaned under my $519.00 preventive maintenance contact. I agree, with other postings, and do not recommend Hutchinson for business because of Disrespectful and Insulting Customer Service, Extremely High Rip-Off Prices, and Poor-Quality Workmanship. read more

Spent close to $14,000 for a heater/ac/water heater. I had a UV light in my old heater only a year old. Asked if it could be moved to the new unit. Installer busted bulb....Hutchinson said they'd replace bulb at no charge! It's rounding 2-months and a lot of promises but no bulb! I heard so many good things about the Hutchinson company, but their promises just turn into lip service. It seems once they get your money all bets are off! Thank god I still have my PSE&G service contract. if there was an actual heater/ac issue I wonder how many months they'd need to fix your heater... especially if they had to order a part??? read more

Expertly better is our motto, and the company stands by it for its employees. I absolutely love, love, LOVE working for Hutchinson. I cannot name a better employer I have ever had experience with! They value their employees, treat each other fairly and equally and really show their appreciation where it is granted. It is a big happy family here. This is an update to a review I did in 2016. After never telling me that regularly schedule maintenance was a condition of maintaining my warranty, I scheduled an appointment for service on my heating system as well as my tankless water heater. The heater technician showed up, did his thing and basically told me that the only air filter that would work properly on my system is an 800.00 electric filter. What! Secondly I was told that the system I was sold is too big for my current duct work. What was the measurement dog and pony show for then? So now, my system is overworked because I need bigger ducts. This is something the technician said should have been discussed as part of the install. The plumber never showed up to service my water heater and I learned on my own that one of the 4 shut off valves does not work. They would like to send out a plumber for 79.00 to see if it is defective or if they or I caused the problem. That's a clandestine way of calling me a liar. Also because it's been 4 years, they can't be sure something was not done to it. By the way, they also never told me the water heater needed to be descaled annually and I have well water. It's been 4 years and the nightmare continues. I had to vent and then profusely apologize to the kind woman on the end of the line because, none of this was her doing. With all of this being said, Hutchinson couldn't change a light bulb for me let alone service my heating, a/c or water heater. I will find another authorized company to do the work! Again, stay clear of this company! One star, only because I cannot give less. read more

The head of Hutchinson came out to give me a quote. He never checked under the house to see the extent of the job, quoted me $2800. My wife and thought it was high, called 2 other companies, one quoted $800, the other $250. Job was done in 20 minutes and we have had no problems. Once we signed the paperwork for a new HVAC system we did not hear back from the sales person Brendon. The insulation subcontractor that Hutchinson hired left a mess in the house. Now less then 2 years later the coil on the Carrier condensor is defective and Hutchinson is charging us $1500 in labor to repair it after spending $15,000 with them because we didn't spring for the labor service contract. So much for customer service, which was tough to get a call back from by the way. I would not recommend them. read more

First time using this company and it was not a great experience. If I could give zero stars I would. My window was from 1pm-5pm and the tech showed up around 5:30. First the tech arrived a half hour late, then it took him over an hour and a half to do the "routine" heater check-up. I thought I signed up for a 10 point inspection and a new air filter. Not sure if 10 point inspection was completed and I definitely did not get a new filter so I overpaid for what I got. He said he found some problems and I told him to give me a quote for what he found, writing the quote took atleast 30 minutes. Not clear when explaining what was wrong and needed to be fixed. By the time he got done it was almost 7pm. read more

They were recommended as a highly dependable and reliable..When the heater was installed the wrong filter was installed, trash was left in my yard, the electric box was left and someone hat... My allergies because of the wrong filter caused me to take more medication.. I purchased the wrong size at the store...The installer told me the wrong size.. I called the salesman and and someone came out and corrected the problem... Now I can't get an answer to when I will get my rebates and the New Jersey Clean Energy Rebate for my taxes.. The State told me it was best that the company did the paperwork... I called the salesman numerous times on his cell and he hung up on me or didn't get back...Also, I noted that I was 65plus that was not check off on the application...This has become depressing...I would like to know when my rebates will arrive...Very dissatisfied with this coming... read more

I just moved in and wanted to have someone come out to update the thermostat. Immediately I was being sold on a new system. He ran it and changed a filter but then gave me prices that were astounding. To install a Nest (that I supplied) I would be charged $350! Then again I was being sold on maintenance plans etc that ended costing me $135 for 15 minutes of work. Don't use them, rip off and is like a used car salesman coming to your house read more

My AC compressor stopped working and I suspected the capacitor was shot. I called Hutchinson out to diagnose the problem and repair it. They came the same day, which was a great start. It was $89 for the service call plus $25 fuel surcharge. I told the tech what I suspected and he confirmed it after a 2 minute test. The tech then told me it would be $660 to replace the capacitor. I was shocked, and asked why it was so much to replace a $20 part. He said he had no control over what the company charges. I asked again how they could charge such an unconscionable amount. He said it was because of the expertise required. I sent him packing and ordered the part from Amazon for $18, and it was delivered the next day. I installed it myself in 10 minutes after watching a short video on YouTube. The only expertise required it to make sure you discharge the capacitor before handling it. That requires you to short the connections on the capacitor together with a screwdriver. No more calls to Hutchinson for me. These guys are a rip-off. read more

I called Hutchinson for a quote on a new Heater, Air, Hot Water Heater which included modification to duct work. The guy came right out and was very nice. The only issue was when he left he did not leave me with a card and after two call back to Hutchinson I still did not get a quote. Each time I called they apologized and said they would have someone call me back. It never happened. NOT sure how this company operates when they do not even provide a quote for a very large job. Make sure you get a second opinion after receiving an estimate from Hutchinson. They told us our air conditioner could not be repaired, and that we needed a $10,000 system. Another company came out, cleaned the unit, and said we needed a new filter, repairing it for about $400.00. Need I add that the homeowner is well into her nineties? Sad. read more

We had the misfortune of hiring Hutchinson to install a new central heating and A/C system. They have a very polished and fast talking sales persons. The salesman told us that if anything goes wrong, Hutchinson will take care of it and all you need to do is to give them a call. He also told us that they will tune the system at the start of Heating and then Cooling times, and that this service is complementary. Well last June, we were conned into getting them install a brand new Heating and A/C system at a cost of over $10,000. The sales person very conveniently "forgot" to mention that they charge $79 dispatch fee every time you call them. Ever since the installation of the new system, our basement could not get above 64 degrees (our Heating/Air conditioning system is in the basement and there is a vent no more than 10 feet from the system in the basement. When I called them they said that you should wait until March or April so that they can look into it. Last week, their technicians came to perform the "complementary tune up". They themselves noted that there was very weak air flow out of the vent in the basement. He changed the blower speed to maximum, but still no significant difference. He immediately took the thermometer from his pocket and showed me that it is now reading 72 degrees so the problem is fixed. I told him that his thermometer is showing 72 degrees because it was in your pocket. Wait for a little while and see what happens. As expected the thermometer started showing lower and lower temperature. When I asked him how they are going to correct this, he simply said our company does not install dampers. (We never had this issue with our 15 year old system, and actually had to close the basement vent completely to keep it from getting too warm. Our basement is a play area for our grand children). when I told the technician about this he simply said that their tune up only included check of electrical system. He refused to document that there was not enough warm air coming from the vents and simply said that we will report it to our office via phone. When I refused to sign his work, he very reluctantly documented that there was not enough air coming out of vent. Well we have not heard from them and I do not want to call them and pay $79 so that they can tell me that there is a problem in our duct system and not the fault of the system. This company is praying on innocent homeowners, especially senior citizens like me. Unfortunately homeowners are out of luck after they have paid them. The only way to drive them out of business is to advertise their unethical behavior. My two experiences (dishwasher installation and the A/C installation) with Hutchinson company have been the worst. I hope others would look into the customer reviews before they hire them. read more

Excellent Service! ZA from Hutchinson is the best HVAC Engineer I have ever met, besides my own brother. He is efficient an excellent thorough diagnostician had my AC running within the hour. Works like new. Needed refrigerant and the compressor cleaned a bit. Word to the wise if you see ice on the compressor connection on your outside central air unit it's a good bet your condenser coil inside is a solid block of ice especially if none to very little air is coming thru the vent. Switch the AC to the off position and the fan on continuous leave the windows closed only if it's hot and humid outside. The circulated air from the unit will be cool for a while giving you a chance to call Hutchinson. As with any service company you may have to wait a bit but they are prompt in sending someone to look at your unit. If you prepared properly you will have purchased a maintenance agreement which will help you a bit with the cost. Get your HVAC system tuned every year in spring and fall. Will recommend to anyone looking for a great HVAC business. Thank You! read more

Came out to service my AC and told me that it was leaking freon. Would cost over $1000 to repair and that the repair might not even work. Immediately tried to send out a salesman to sell me a new AC system. I called Cundiff Oil in Belmawr and they fixed my AC for $600 and it worked like a charm all summer. I called for an estimate and put in a request online. I wanted to replace two toilets. No emergency just an update. I asked what toilets were included in their BOGO coupon. No one could or would supply that info. They had to schedule a pre-paid plumber call. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that I could NOT speak to a supervisor. Sooooo was no supervisor there, did the person on the phone make-up the non-answer or what???? Whatever, no one responded to the online request either. No way to do business. read more

Do not trust the free estimate. What a SCAM! Our air conditioner was completely broken, we needed an estimate for a new one.(old service company verified with was broken) One the free quote, there was a service fee credit? They ended up sending someone out after free estimate (fee of $79.00 now, plus service) Not sure why a salesman would send someone out, when we told you it was broken and we needed a quote for a new air conditioner. Since the quote was so high, we decided not to use them. Months later, we get a threating notice stating we owe $231.27! The Customer service lady, Amber Surguy,is very unprofessional with trying to resolve this. Amber also could not understand why a service call/fee was placed after the quote, so they are now requesting the $79.00 plus tax!!!! I would never recommend this company to anyone! read more

on 2/10/23 hutichinson came out to my house not wearing a mask, told me they did not have the part made an appointment for a few days from the 10/23, never showed up i called them and they said there was not an appointment. when thet finally came out they charged me for a service call about 90.00 and 813.55 for the part and installation. they left, the heater never came on. they came back and wanted to charge me for another part over $1900.00 plus tax I told them to get loss. So i'm out over 900.00 dollars and i still dont have heat. The bill they left me does not have an address on it just a phone number 1800 360 5807. the invoice number is 192247907 and the town is sea isle city, nj 08243. i called a local hvac and got it fixed for $300.00 I now have heat. I will bad mouth this company any chance i can. I have 3 cars in the family, there will be signs in the back windows and I will be on every web sight i can think of to post my story. I had a plumbing problem where a pipe started leaking and water was dripping through he ceiling around 10pm. I called Hutchinson and they had someone there within 20 minutes and stopped the leak and came back to next day to permanently correct it. I had previously used them to replace my heating and air conditioning unit as well as my hot water heater and I have always found them to do first rate work at reasonable prices. read more

Tom D is an excellent technician and so very kind. He was servicing a 10 year old HVAC unit in a new to us house which is unlike any kind we have previously owned. I was unfamiliar with how to properly clean a unit with a permanent filter so Tom took the time to go over it with me. He even waited patiently as I took notes and pictures so that I would not forget. He fully and thoughtfully answered all questions I had. That is above and beyond service! read more

Customers beware ASK ALL PRICES BEFORE SERVICES. Had a line blown out ,( cleared, 10 minutes of work ) $224.92 !! plus service fee of $79.00 . I had several service calls prior to this problem which a new pump and lines installed thermostat /heater was serviced.$ 500.00. Under warrantee and contract . I believe this problem was overlooked. I was advised that service fee was $79. I was not told fee of LINE BLOW until after it was done. I paid the technician and called the company to question the high fee. I asked Amber to speak to a supervisor and she was beyond nasty. She would not connect me to a supervisor .She would not listen to my issues. Customer service skills non existent. I did try to call again and spoke to Racheal she was very kind and did try to help my situation . Unfortunately , there was no resolution . No supervisor ever spoke to me . They stand by these fees and services. BEWARE read more

I told Hutchinson that I needed my mini-split air conditioner fixed. I knew it wasn't working correctly. They charged my for a maintenance visit and did not repair it. They claimed I did not indicate that I needed a repair. They left me a proposal for $1200 + 200 to go up a ladder. The price indicated the most extreme and costly approach. They never suggested any other solutions although they claimed to. I found Comfort Consultants and they came and completed the job for $600. Their tech found two issues that Hutchinson did not, a dirty wheel inside the bedroom blower unit and a corroded sensor in the outside main unit. He even called the manufacturer hot line to confirm his work. I called Hutchinson to discuss my issues and after 4 days, I was told that Rocco the supervisor would not refund or even lower the charge. Even after I had a new furnace/air conditioner installed by them for $18,000. Bad business practice. Lost a customer for $65 to $100. They will offer to fix things for the largest amount and skip easier, less expensive solutions. Shop around! read more

I am very disappointed in your response time and the quality of service. We scheduled an appoint two days ago and were told a technician would be by yesterday. He showed up at the end of the day and did not have the proper tools to exam the unit. We were moved to today's schedule but put at the back of the line again. ZERO RATING!!! (made me select a star to post) I am extremely unhappy with my latest dealings with Hutchinson! I have been a customer of theirs since 2004 and have always used them until now....I will never use them again they have the pushiest sales people and the worst customer service ever! I had a tech come to my home on May 7, 2021 for my AC maintenance and I gave him a $50 off coupon to be used and instead of taking the $50 off he charged me the $50. I called the office immediately seeing that on the emailed receipt and was told that they would take care of it and would be placed back on credit card as that was how I paid. I then had to follow up on May 14th with another rep who told me that it was noted on my account and someone was looking into it and I would get a call back. Sandy called my husband on May 19th 2021 to say we were right and that she would have the refund processed and it would be a check and could take 2-4 weeks to get. He explained to her that the refund should be for $100 as it was the over charge of $50 plus $50 for the credit of the coupon we should've received in the first place. I then called back on June 4th 2021 to inquire the status of the refund and to verify that the amount was $100 as no one there has a clue what is going on....the rep on the phone proceeded to tell me that is was processed on 5/19/2021 but there was no note on the amount refunded and that someone would call me back that day or I could call back on Monday 6/7/2021. I never got a call!!!!! So today June 16,2021 the refund check was received in the mail with a postmark of 6/14/2021 and it was only for the $50 over charge. Why did it take so long to get back the refund? And why did I not get the $50 for the coupon? For the next issue we had a sales rep come out same original day 5/7/2021 to give us a price on a new heater as ours needed to be replaced. He gave us 3 prices as we wanted to move the location in the basement. I asked him is this the best price you can give me? He said yes and was only good for when he was present at my house. He then back pedaled his answer when I said I had another company coming to give me and estimate later that day. He proceeded to tell me that he would match the other company and to call him back by 5pm that day to let him know our decision. I felt so pressured to make a decision....when I did speak to the sales person I let him know that we were going with another company and told him why, he proceeded to tell us that he was sorry we didn't trust them enough to handle the job. Needless to say I signed with another company for the new heating system and will NEVER use Hutchinson again!!!! read more

This has been my worst experience with a service company. My AC broke and based on my past experience, it was due to a bad capacitor and needed to be replaced. I called Hutchinson for service because it did a regular AC checkup for me just a year ago. I figured a simple job like that should not cost too much. Boy, I was so wrong! The service technician arrived on time and asked me a few questions. I indicated it could be the capacitor problem. He asked me to turn the thermostat on. And in less than 5 minutes, the AC was back running. Then he showed me the $350 bill for the job he worked on for less than 5 minutes.. I was shocked, but swallowed my pride and paid with my credit card. This company doesn't ask you to sign prework agreement and consumers (dummies like me) would not necessarily know how much the work would cost until it's too late. FYI,, the best of the line capacitor, such as GE capacitor is under $15 on Amazon. YouTube has plenty of how-to-videos to teach you how to replace capacitors safely. And of course no more Hutchison on my book. read more

I would like to start off by saying "THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST COMPANIES I HAVE EVER WORKED FOR IN MY LIFE". I have a college degree and not in the HAVC field, however Hutchinson welcomed me in with open arms and my boss, as well as our CSR's trained me very well, so well that I am succeeding in every aspect of not only my work life but my personal life because the comfort of knowing that I work for such a great company, that is stable, with room for so much advancement. I have personally also used Hutchinson Services and had Mike Perkins the plumber came out to my home to unclog my toilet. I had a superwoman, and 2 cast iron hot wheels all the way down the drain and he did such a nice job. He was sufficient in his work and amazing at his trade. I have no plan on ever leaving Hutchinson and plan my retirement here. I am surrounded by very good people, co-workers, bosses, and owners. I love my job!!! They are a family owned and operated company and treat all of us at Hutchinson like family as well. Hands down by far the best company. I must also say we have a very loyal team, full of trust and respect for one another. No one is treated, nor have ever been treated poorly or unfair!! The team that has taken time and reliability to build up so strong and I couldn't ask for a better work place!!! read more

On July 15, at the start of the heat wave, our central air system stopped blowing cold air. The technician replaced two parts on the outdoor unit, charged us nearly $425, stated that both units needed to be replaced, that systems only last 10 years, that both the outdoor unit and indoor air handler needed to be replaced due to a change in the compressor gas, and conveniently made an appointment for a sales rep to quote new units. Within an hour and a half, the outdoor unit began to periodically vibrate loudly followed by a loud electrical humming noise. The compressor once again shut down and failed to generate cold air. This left us to continue to endure the intolerable indoor temperature of 86 degrees. Anticipating a major investment, we called another company the next morning. They examined the outdoor compressor unit and found the hard start installed the day before was defective causing the unit to overheat and shut down. Once that was removed and the unit ran for 20 minutes generating cold air, they cleaned the condenser (fins) which is A SIMPLE MAINTENANCE TASK THAT HUTCHINSON SHOULD HAVE PERFORMED had they not been trying to sell complete central air systems that is. The unit has been working flawlessly ever since. The service call by the second company cost only $90.95 including sales tax. If needed, the R22 compressor unit could be replaced without replacing the air handler for a cost of $1,600 to $2,400. Meanwhile, the quote for the complete system from Hutchinson, also the older R22 which we requested and amazingly still available, was between $13,595 and $18,540 and conveniently included financing at 9.99%. Please DO HESITATE TO CALL HUTCHINSON who were intentionally incompetent and unfairly took advantage of the heat wave in order to sell a central air system. read more

Wow, these guys are expensive and don't do a very good job. After my experience with a minor water leak in my basement pipes (easily reached) and the mess they made I checked them out. Called Friday evening around 7 when AC died. First thing that comes on is they are not servicing plumbing or heating that night. I tell the answering service, which I might add is not in the USA, that I have a service contract. Doesnt matter. No service. I argue to speak with a technician who calls me back and tells me to reboot the system, which I do. Doesnt work. The sticker on the unit says call for service 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Next morning technician comes out, tells me system is iced and he cant do anything. He sets the fan to on and says someone out first thing in am. So I go to Walmart and buy some AC units. The following morning Angelo comes out and he knew his stuff. Said the line didnt de-ice because the AC unit itself was not off. He temporizes the unit to continually have a fan and the AC starts up. Says I need a new circuit board and blower which he orders. Ok. Then Tuesday they call and set up installation of the parts. Lisa Small comes to the house and is also great. She spends the time sets everything up, speaks with Angelo and has the unit going again. By the way posted it on FB and Hutchinson argues saying they dont send technicians in the night to work on AC units. Dangerous. I responded interesting that no one really was outside and they all worked on the inside aspect only. read more

Hutchinson came out to my house after our toilet was clogged. The plumber could not have been more polite or nicer and the end result was that the clog was removed. However, the cost of the service was likely two times what should have been spent for the service. To auger a toilet and drain line should not cost $900+ dollars. And even the $79 dispatch charge was not reduced by the overall cost of the service! They indicated they do not charge by the hour - but do the math... $350 / hour for a plumber is excessive. We knew the cost before they did the work and signed off because we desperately needed the toilet repaired and the problem resolved. But buyer beware - these guys are too expensive.
