Furnace pump was running but not circulating hot water. Technician came out and quoted me $521 to replace the igniter. I purchased one on Amazon for under $15 and it took me 5 minutes to change it. If I could give zero stars I would. A service tech came out to my house, was here for 20 minutes and charged me $79.00 (for coming out) and then $101 for a diagnostic? He didn't even do anything. He stood in my basement and talked with my fiance about a part we needed and left. Literally 20 minutes is pushing how long he stayed. I smell a bit of bs.... I tried to get a condenser installed for a row home in Camden and was told they don't service in Camden That's odd: is the money different in Camden? So they ask for the zip code and the receptionist proceeds to tell me that they don't service homes in that community because of the way they are constructed. That's even more odd; so I go out back and count 8 condensers installed and operating. So you don't service homes in Camden because of how the homes are constructed or is it something else? The hvac unit is literally 12 feet from the far wall. I imagine it's a very routine install....so what is the true issue? read more

My AC had not been serviced since I bought my condo 20 months prior, so I scheduled a maintenance visit for the $79 special rate and stayed home. Although they had my cell phone and email, and texted and emailed the night before to confirm the visit, on the morning of, when I stayed home to WFH so I could let them in, they called my office number to let me know they were not going to be able to send someone. When I got dispatch 15 minutes after their 4 hour window, they explained they could not come, were not apologetic at all, and suggested rescheduling. My compressor was not coming on in my Mitsubishi split system. Hutchinson came out, diagnosed the system and replaced a circuit board. They said it was fixed and working fine. When I turned in on it on for the first time a day or so later. The system froze up immediately. When I called they said that it was fine when they left and it must have broken just sitting there for a day or so (or they did not actually check it out?). So... they came back out and charged me for the visit since they said it was unrelated. After that they said they can fix another part for $1500 more and that might do it. No thanks! Obtain competitive bids before signing with Hutchinson. They lowered their price significantly when I presented another bid. I should have gone with a smaller Carrier dealer. After installation of new hvac system, it required 3 visits from 3 technicians to rectify a humidity issue. Additionally, I emailed Sandy, customer relations manager on 8/2 regarding a dehumifier system. She responded with a cost and no specifics, ie make, model number, etc. I called, she said she would email me, and 31 days later, no information. After investing five figures, this is how they treat customers and have your money. I am very disappointed. read more

The crew arrived on the originally scheduled date and went to work. Several teams worked in different areas of the house wearing masks, shoe covers and protective tarps on the floor. Had a plumber come out to assess the water forming under the shower basin. He said it was a grout/sealing issue, charged me $80 and left. I sealed shower with grout with enough sealent to use it as a boat; still water. Called family-friend plumber to fix it. I then called to see if I can get refunded my $80, they said no since my family-friend plumber did not write anything up. So I paid the $80 dispatch fee to be told the wrong solution and a misidentification of the problem. read more

Needed an new Central AC unit in the heat of the summer, was crazy hot & humid. Brian, in sales came the day I called. He put loaner window units in the bedrooms immediately! We bought a high end Carrier Heat & AC unit. Joe & Dave, the installers did a great job. The system LOOKS & works great! Runs so quiet, and is very Efficient, They made it perfect in ever way. WAITED 10 HOURS for someone to arrive and replace a water heater. Terrible experience. My time frame was from 9 am to 1 pm. No one showed. I gave it till 1:30 pm to call Hutchinson. Why am I calling them? They should be calling me saying they are on their way. I called them and they said they'll be out today but do not know what time. Someone showed up at 5 pm with no apology or anything. He"ll be here till 7 pm replacing the water heater. I had to sit in my house on a Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm because of this company. Had water heater installed 1year ago by Hutchinson rod was defective I experienced excessive air pressure in all home faucets and water heater crackling complained to Hutchinson numerous times they returned to flush system but never continued working to identify issue insisting nothing was wrong with water heater. They finally replaced it after I had to hire other plumbers and research to identify the problem myself. They had workers come that spent 5 minutes to diagnose and left, another that spilt water near my ac that caused my auto shut off to trigger a system shut down and then worker was very rude and Hung up on me when I contacted him to find out why my ac suddenly stopped working. When they were installing the new tank they forgot and I had to remind them to install the upgraded rod they had assured me would be installed to prevent further rod issues. After the workers left I discovered Personal items were missing from my basement. I have communicated my dissatisfaction to Hutchinson but after a year of repeated issues with this company I believe my experiences should be shared with other consumers. read more

Called Hutchinson on Saturday to service my tankless water heater. They said a tech would get to us between 2pm and 6pm. Later they called back stating they had no tankless water heater technicians available so they scheduled an appointment for the following morning between 8am and 10am. The tech arrived at 8:30am the following morning and went through his diagnostic procedures; said he located the problem but did not have the parts on his truck. Long story short: he told me he contacted his parts department via email and was awaiting a response then he proceeded to tell me that "best case scenario I'll have to come back tomorrow". I stated to him that if he came back next day the service is free as per their written promotion; at that point he said "well I'm outta here and left heading to his truck got in and drove off. I called the Hutchinson and made a complaint. I was told someone will reach out to me within 24 hrs. We'll see. not holding my breath. read more

This is the worst and is the most unreliable company we have worked with. Be aware of their scams. They cancel their appointment without prior notices, if they get more money from other jobs. When they do arrive after several cancellations, they try to lure customers into paying more than what they quoted for the job. Doesn't even deserve a i star. I called them out to look at my air conditioning in my condo. June 30th they came out. Right away they said I need a whole new air and heating unit. Since the temperature outside was 90 degrees and me and my wife are 76 years old. We had them do the job. The salesman Mike Costanzo, said it would cost $18,900 for the job. I agreed and signed the paper. He said it would be done in a day. July 5th is when they were supposed to come out and install the unit. When they got here they claimed the unit was damaged and had to re-order another unit. Mean while my wife and I were sitting in the condo in this 90 degree heat. We're lucky we didn't have a heat stroke. But the technician unhooked our old unit and took it with them. (i guess so it couldn't be examined by another company) July 12th they were supposed to install it, but they never showed up and never called. I was furious! Mike Costanzo called me and talked me into letting them install it the next day. I felt like my hands were tied at this point. So they did in fact come out on the 13th installed it and then left with the vent not secured to the frame outside. I called and told them about the vent outside that needs to be secured, so it doesn't fall off and hit someone in the head below. They make an appointment for Saturday July 22nd for someone to come out and fix it between 8am - 12 pm. The guy shows up at 10:30, looks at the vent and then tells me that they can't get ladders on the weekends and that he couldn't fix it. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. I've been sick and stressed over this whole process. I did find out that the unit cost $5700. So I guess the labor was $13,200. This company should be investigated because I think they take advantage of the elderly. They also sent me a credit card with a limit of $22,000 that I never asked for. And when I questioned Mike about it he said it was a thank you for using their company. What a rip off company. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Very disappointed with service and would not use again. Appointment was for repair or replacement of a kitchen faucet. Tech was slow and the service was way too expensive for what was done. My parents have a history with this company for AC/heating but this was first time for plumbing service. Will find another company to handle both services in the future. Completed the survey sent by the company and never received a follow up call regarding my concerns. that alone says a great deal about the quality of the customer service. I had a small leak at the kitchen faucet meets the countertop, The Hutchinson employee tackled the problem from underneath. He told me not to move the faucet too much from side to side. He charged me $368.92 !!! The (almost) fix lasted only days. Today, I had another plumber, Charlie Dawson of Cherry Hill, look at the problem. He removed the faucet at the top - replaced a washer = and viola - problem fixed. Charge $75. Would I use Hutchinson again - NO. Would I recommend them - NO. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. I called and received an estimate for drain cleaning for $97. When the technician arrived at the house , he wrote up an estimate for $214. When I asked why it was not $97 like I was quoted, he had no answer. I needed my drain cleaned so I had to sign to get the work done. After contacting customer service for a refund so I would only pay the $97 they quoted me and not the $214 they charged me , I still have yet to receive my refund after a month. I had an A/C service Monday 5/25 2pm for a bad contactor on a 13 seer 4 ton Goodman unit - not knowing how much the price really was, technician quoted $760 which I assumed was up charged as normal but after the service, search on google revealed part price range from $15 to $66 only. I had contacted Hutchinson customer service by phone immediately after the service (2:32pm) to voice my concern/displeasure but 24hrs later I still have not received a call back. Invoice check was cashed next day but still waiting for my actual invoice via email. I believe that this is price gouging and would open a case/complaint with BBB & NJ Consumer Affairs. read more

Paul Hutchinson was my salesman for the entire home HVAC upgrade. The entire job was over $15000 when all set and done with the hot water heater, new AC/heater, and home insulation. After the job was done there were several damaged areas of the drywall that needed repairs, includes a cracked sealing and nail pop outs. It's been 2 months since the job was complete and Paul has still have not resolved this issue. To make matters worse, he has not responded to any of my texts, emails or phone calls for the past 2 weeks. I am so furious from dealing with Hutchinson Plumbing that I cannot believe they have any customers left. 3 1/2 years ago we had the whole house energy review done with them (new high efficiency A/C and gas heater and a gas tankless water heater system, more insulation). Over the last year the gas company has been telling me I am using 200% more than an efficient equivalent home and 50% more gas than an average equivalent sized home. Since the tankless system still has a 5 year parts warranty I call Hutchinson and tell them that I am using excess gas and that the water heater IS PERIODICALLY MAKING LOUD NOISES so I assume that it is the issue. They send out a polite serviceman who cannot find any problems. Naturally the system doesn't misbehave in his presence, so with nothing else to readily blame he suggests having the gas company replace the "old" meter (home is only 18 years old). With a $55 off coupon, the bill is still $186. That is somewhat reasonable. As soon as he leaves the noises return louder than ever and the water flow starts strong, reduces to half volume and then returns to full force. I call Hutchinson back. Hutchinson informs me that this will not be a free call back since the tech had recommended that the gas company may be at fault! (HOGWASH!). The tech returns and with the Navien's tech advice replace a valve and presents me with an additional $206 bill. So even after $100 + in coupons and the waving of a second dispatch fee I have bills in excess of $400 for a system still under parts warranty. This was a "call-back" and should NOT be chargeable. Please also be warned that Hutchinson advertises a $55 off plumbing coupon. They do not tell you that they have an $80 dispatch fee before they even start charging you for work. So what they are saying is if you use the coupon we will only charge $25 for the "privilege" of sending you a tech instead of $80 (before we start charging time). Now I understand why all the plumbing service trucks I see in our senior citizen neighborhood are NOT Hutchinson trucks. Once all the parts warranties expire I will not be using them and I heavily recommend that you do not either. read more

If you are reading reviews of Hutchinson, I strongly suggest you sort them by newest first. You'll see that in recent years the reviews are overwhelmingly negative.  Poor customer service and exorbitant pricing are common themes in many of these reviews.  I've been a long time loyal customer of Hutchinson. I've used them exclusively for over 20 years. They used to be an excellent company to deal with.  I don't know what happened to them but they've really gone downhill from this customer's perspective.  I'll just give you one example from recent years. In 2020 the blower motor died on our 7 year old Carrier AC unit that was sold to us and serviced by Hutchinson.  It was still under warranty so we didn't have to pay for the part, but Hutchinson's labor quote to fix it was $584.37.  That seemed like a lot of money to me, and I questioned the technician about it.  He told me it was going to take at least a couple of hours to do the job. The part came in 3 days later and a different technician installed it in about an hour. So with my 5% discount for having a service contract, I had to pay $555.16 for about an hour's work.  That seems pretty outrageous to me! A recent call with one of their customer service reps was so poor that it finally pushed me over the edge.  At this point, I'd recommend ABH (anyone but Hutchinson).  I'm switching to a new company and wished I'd have done it years ago.  I'm paying more for my maintenance contract with the new company but their reviews are overwhelmingly positive and there's no mention of poor customer service and price gouging. If I could give them less than 1 star I would. They have been at our house at least 30 times trying to fix issues for the ductless air conditioning that they installed. Ultimately telling my husband that the pumps they use are not good. Why would you sell us a product that has parts that don't work. Great on workmanship, poor on paperwork. I wouldn't go anywhere else for complex repairs and installations of some of the more sophisticated equipment on the market today. A little miffed that a $300 state rebate for installation of a tankless hot water heater was denied because "contractor did not sign" the rebate application. Our AC froze-over last summer and the tech came out and explained why the entire system had to be replaced, and why he wasn't going to do anything else to solve the problem. He was actually giddy thinking he made another big sale - a dumb move. I let the salesman come out and give me his spiel, then sent him packing. The contract I paid for said they would recharge the system if it needed it, but then I was told that only happens when you buy the replacement system. Dishonesty, or smoke and mirrors, is one way of describing this approach. I was told it was leaking freon, but I bought a tester the same day and verified that it wasn't leaking. Green HVAC came out quickly and verified that it was not leaking - only a bit low on freon. The manager at Hutchinson said "you are not a certified tech" as his way of saying I must have been wrong about the leaking freon - weak - I may not be certified, but then again, it doesn't take a genius to figure out the con game they play. The penny-wise pound-lame game. Green quickly identified and solved the problem professionally. The freon recharge would have cost Hutchinson a hundred bucks +/-, so rather than simply shut up and recharge the system, that acted like incompetent used car salesmen. If they spent half as much time solving customer-problems as they do heading off their own expenses, they would be better off. Sometimes in business, you have to take a loss to maintain customer relationship - not in the Hutchinson playbook - it's about the money at all times; don't let the cutesy comments that they follow-up with fool you - it's them "gaslighting" their sad remaining customer-base and pumping up the sunshine for new prospects. Read the other review by the retiree - it doesn't get any worse than screwing old people over. Green had me up and running in no time. I will never use Hutchinson again. Greedy and poor customer practices! The only positive thing I can say is that they have a Polish tech (Ted??) who is a credit to Hutchinson and every time he came out over the years I had nothing but positive experiences - too bad there's only one of him. read more

We had a pipe in the basement leaking drop of water, 1 drop per 30 second may be. We were worried and got an Hutchinson appointment. The plumber mentioned they have to glue near the joint and he did that, I was charged Diagnosis Fee - $129, dispatch fee - $79 and was given a discount if $50. The job is done in 10 mins. Not sure, how they can do the diagnosis without dispatching to the location. Glad it is a minor issue, but overall, I felt it was too expensive. Even the regular HVAC tune up is $60, the Job that was done is comparatively less expensive. read more

Do NOT use this company. We had a new AC and Heater installed. Less than 6 months later we had issues with the heater. Service was AWFUL! We were told we would have to go over 24 hr without heat before anyone would come out to look at it because they were done servicing our area for the day(it was 1:00 in the afternoon). The technician told us our issue was caused by our unit being overcharged, he told us that it was a mistake made the last time we were serviced because too much refrigerant was in the system. I asked if we would be refunded our service and diagnostic fees since it was Hutchinson's mistake that caused us to even need service at all. He said he still had to work, made a joke about telling his boss he had covid-19 so he could get two weeks off, and then wrote up the service. I did not appreciate that joke. After he left I called to speak to management and request a refund since we only needed service due to their mistake (literally what the tech told us). The receptionist was rude enough to repeatedly say "well no one else heard that conversation" as if I was lying. I asked for a manager or supervisor to follow up. No one ever did.
