We've had such great experience at Dr. Hwang's office since day one. My then 7 yr old daughter's underbite was fixed in a few months. She is now passing her first year of braces at 8 yrs old. At first we were hesitant to start treatment on her so young but after the thorough explanation from Dr. Hwang and her staff we felt comfortable in starting it. Over a year has passed now in her treatment and we've seen such amazing results thus far. I would recommend this office to anyone. Both doctors there are so knowledgeable, patient and friendly. Her "chair-side" manner is top-notch; she's a true professional who can read her young patients' personalities and is very patient and calm with every one of them. SERVICE: When you look for an orthodontist, you're looking for someone who will be all up in your mouth for about 2 years. Dr. Hwang was INCREDIBLY thorough with my diagnosis before I even signed any papers. She explains technical orthodontics in plain English and doesn't try to worsen your already unfortunate situation (of getting braces). Whenever I break a button or need more rubberbands, her team is always ready to assist me! Dr. Hwang is pretty busy, but her staff takes the time to get to know you and makes you feel welcome. My brother's orthodontist was never this personable and operated his business like a production line. Dr. Hwang and her team treats you more like family. 5 stars all the way! Was referred to their ofc by our family dentist, Dr Maria Kim. From the office mgr, Karen, to Beverly, to Dr Kathleen Hwang herself. They are all awesome! Called and scheduled a consultation. Karen worked with us with our insurance and fsa payments. Beverly and Dr Hwang explained to us the procedure and what was needed. Gave us the different options. Finally made the appt. It didn't take that long. Dr Hwang made sure the kids are comfortable and has no questions. They explained everything that is going on thoroughly. Even the after care. By the next day or so, you know it was working that my son had to call to come by so the wire can be cut down a little. Their doors are always open especially for emergency... and that is important! =D My kids are getting the personal treatment that they deserve. read more

Dr. Hwang did my braces 10 years ago when she was still working as an associate for Dr. Chang in Los Alamitos and then Dr. Di Giovanni in Newport Beach. When my boys were finally old enough to start their orthodontics treatments, I took them to Dr. Hwang. She's a perfectionist and will not let you out your braces until she's absolutely satisfied with the results, so you'd better wear your invisilign or your rubber bands! Once she does take out your braces, you have PERFECT TEETH. Recently my youngest son Alex started phase 2 of his treatment with Dr. Hwang. When they took his X Ray, they discovered that 2 of his adult teeth were coming out fully crossed, making an "x". I could see the looks on Dr. Hwang's staff's faces when they saw the X-Ray, betraying their thought that there was no way Dr. Hwang could fix Alex's teeth. Dr. Hwang said he might need oral surgery but she'd like to try uncrossing the teeth with ortho treatment first. I was frightened for my son, for having to endure what would certainly be a very long and painful treatment but Alex LOVES going to to Dr. Hwang's. Her staff is really friendly, her office looks like a local hang out where he always end up bumping into local friends and classmates, and Dr. Hwang herself is very gentle and friendly with the kids. She takes her time explaining what she's doing and working on each patient herself until she's satisfied with the results. Several months later, my son's crossed teeth are half way uncrossed and well on their way to being fully moved to where they're supposed to be. His pediatric dentist said that most orthodontists would not even take Alex as a patient. I'm just grateful that she did. I don't mean to gross you out, but wanted to share this picture of his crossed teeth now, half way through his treatment, so you can see how mission impossible it is to make them right! Now she's doing my mom's teeth. My mom is really hard to please and resisted orthodontics treatment for many years. She finally started with Dr. Hwang and is very pleased with the results. read more
