Well, my wife and I went to get groceries and it was about 5pm, so we decided to try it. It was on a Thursday night, not busy at all, and they had been open for a couple of months so we thought it would be OK. So here is how it went.... We walked in and were seated immediately, so far so good. We look through the menu and we both were impressed, still looking good. So we looked at the beer list, and we see they had Shiner Bock (if you haven't had it, I HIGHLY recommend it), so we both decided to have a beer and a burger. So we order, and about 5-7 mins later the waitress comes back and tells us they are out of Shiner. We immediately told her we wanted to change our order, since we only ordered the burgers because of the beer. She goes off, and returns about 5 mins. later to take our new order. So I ordered a steak (medium rare), and my wife has the Chicken Parmesan. It takes a good 15-20 mins. for us to get our food. When it comes, my wife's Chicken Parmesan is actually Chicken Alfredo!!! She called the manager over, who looks at it and say's "Yup that is Chicken Alfredo, not Parmesan". So he takes it away and says they will get Chicken Parmesan. Well, I ate mine VERY slowly, and I was almost done by the time her dinner. It was at least another 20 mins. on a RUSH order to get her dinner. My steak was about medium well instead of medium rare, which I ate simply because I did not want to wait for another one. Looking back at it, I should have ordered another one so I could have eaten with my wife. The baked potato that I ordered literally comes with NOTHING on it. If you want cheese, sour cream, bacon, butter, and chives, it costs an additional dollar!!! Really, does ANYONE eat a backed potato without anything on it? They did comp my wife's meal, YOU THINK. We got our bill and it was all the waitresses fault, since the bill had Chicken Alfredo on the receipt. Bottom line, EXTREMELY poor service and the food is mediocre AT BEST. So in my wife's and my opinion, any McDonald's would be better food, faster service, and cheaper (although maybe not as healthy)!!! read more

It has the best of two worlds, sports screens to watch sports, and nice mood lighting for a meal with your date. The rolls are excellent. The best part is that if I need to get groceries I don't have to get in my car and drive there, I'm already there. read more

Got off the highway looking for something not fast food or chain related. Saw the sign, took a chance and now wished we lived closer to go back again! Highly recommend. This is the worst place to go and eat. I have tried to do dinner a few time and the food was horrible along with horrible service. I decided to give breakfast a try as how can they mess up breakfast. I can tell you Hyvee can along with horrible customer service. My server Tosha seated us and waited a while before she took our order and may I say there was only five table with people and three of them were already eating their breakfast. Server did finally come and take our order. We waited for like a half hour and then I asked to speak with a manager and server had asked to why. I stated that we have been waiting for a half hour for our food and not sure where our server Tosha is as seemed she just disappeared. Manager comes over who I was told her name was Shalena not sure that I was told the correct name as they seemed to have to think about who they are. She came to the table and before I could even get a word out she cut me off. She said, " I here you guys are in a hurry for your food and need to get going." I told I am not sure that you can say that we are in a hurry but we had been waiting a half hour for food,. Again she rudely interrupts me and says you have only been waiting 23 minutes. I did tell it had been longer as I knew when we order as I sent a text while the other two people were ordering their food. I did remind her that there is no one really in the restaurant and not busy and it does not take that long to cook bacon and eggs and hash browns. The sushi was fishy. The servers inattentive and uninformed about the menu items. The steak was good but very little for the money. The bartenders are good at pouring beer and wine but be prepared to educate them if you want a mixed drink. Also watched the manager on duty be rude to servers as well as another table next to us that had an issue. I absolutely love the store but this restaurant is a fail. read more

The Sunday brunch is fabulous if you like food variety with legitimate flavor and flare. The restaurant was well staffed, clean and efficient. I honestly have never seen such variety on a sunday brunch buffet; from your standard brunch menu items of eggs, hasbrowns, sausage, bacon, french toast, fruits, yogurts, danishes, to made to order eggs, omelets and pancakes, smoked salmon, shrimp, desserts, fresh made cinnamon rolls, and carved prime rib and that's just the beginning. In addition to the "restaurant" portion of the buffet, you may also choose items from the "Asian", "Italian", "kitchen" and "Salad Bar" of the ready made meal items in the grocery store. Needless to say, even though we had great intentions to try all of our favorite items, we had to "tap" out and save the rest for another day. We very much look forward to returning and spreading the word at how pleased we were with the Hy Vee Market Grille. read more

We came on a Friday at about 545, we were seated right away and it wasn't that busy. Our family ordered 2 burgers with fries and 3 kids meals. It was almost an hour before we got our food. We have a one year old who was losing her patience, rightfully so. When we finally got our food, some of the order was wrong. We also got charged for 2 kids meals when we should have only been charged for 1 (they were running a special with free kids meals for each adult entree). We just paid it because we needed to leave and get our baby to bed. Won't be going back. read more

Good news first...beautiful location and drinks were delicious. Bad news: we've been here a ridiculous amount of times over the last 6-12months and have had truly good service only once. We keep coming back hoping that something will have gotten better, but it hasn't. It's not the chain because service at other locations such as Brooklyn Park, MN and Sioux Falls, SD is fantastic. But the location in Oakdale is by far the worst. The cranky elderly died-red hair waitress is rude and more interested in playing with her family than doing her job. The couple other waitresses we've had stop by once every 20mins if that. If you're in a hurry this is definitely NOT the place to come. And when you finally get service they seem to have no idea what they're doing, or what's going on in the restaurant. The managers are super nice, but the wait staff is aweful. There are a couple of younger male waiters that seem to to do their job well. The rest seem pretty clueless. I really hope this site gets some help or retraining for the staff. read more

I went to the Market Grill in Oakdale at 6:45am on Sat Oct 5th, to find the doors locked although they were supposed to be open at 6:00am. I don't recall ever in my 68 years of life ever finding an operation the size of Hy-Vee not being open as advertised. read more

Place had decent food, the service was very subpar. We were there on a Wednesday night so it wasn't busy but the waitress took half an hour to get us our drinks. We ordered the maple wontons and nachos for appetizers and the wontons were absolutely phenomenal, the nachos however were far from that. Overall dinner was good with the minor setbacks of the service. May try again in the future to see how I feel about this place. read more

Okay. So we've been coming to HyVee grill for two years. Good food, good prices. Good service. It's been my tween boys' favorite restaurant for that time. Until today. Gross. Service was non-existent (we had to flag down our server multiple times). The food was horrible. The manager had to be asked twice to come chat with us. Previously, the managers and staff are pretty good but this guy? He should be managing a Wendy's! We could walk 20 feet to the store and get better, fresher food at the in-store Food Court! What happened? This is the Oakdale store and I've been seeing the standards slip for a while. We used to travel here from Stillwater--20 min for a meal out and our weekly food shopping. Now? Tried this restaurant on a whim when I was out shopping with my daughter. I had the pulled pork sandwich which came with fries. My daughter ordered the Buffalo Chicken sandwich with fries. We absolutely loved our meals. If I remember correctly they offered lunch portions and dinner portions. We opted for the lunch portion and we're full when we were done. I recommended it to my brother and his wife and they tried it today and called to thank me for the recommendation. They loved it as well. Will definitely go back. The price point is mid range. Not over priced - what I would expect to pay for a good meal. I think the two of us ate for approximately $28 and that was with a piece of chocolate cake each for desert (they had buy one get one free promotion on their Cheesecake Factory deserts). read more

My husband and I came here for a relaxing dinner tonight before grocery shopping. We sat at the bar and our bartender Danielle, was so polite. It was obvious they were busy and understaffed and it took a while for our food to come out. Not only did she give us some delicious biscuits to hold us over but she also remade my flatbread after it was sitting too long (without me even asking), and she comped our food without us even complaining. Let me just start by saying that I usually do not write reviews...but the experience we had today at HyVee Market Grille in Oakdale has to be shared. We went to breakfast and I was going to order Eggs Benedict and hash browns off the menu but our server recommend the Sunday Brunch and said there is an Eggs Benedict bar. We decided to have the brunch. Big mistake! 1st I went to the Eggs Benedict station...there was dried up ham, sausage and bacon in a warmer with English Muffins that had to be left over from yesterday and no eggs...we asked the guy that was making cook to order omelets where the eggs were he wasn't too sure but he would check on it...about 15 minutes later we went over to check and he came out of the kitchen with a pot full of water and told us we had to wait for the water to boil...so my husband decided to have an omelet instead...but he couldn't make omelets because the the burner was being used to boil the water for the eggs...so 15 minutes later we checked back with him and he was walking over to our table with a completely burnt omelet....and 2 eggs for the eggs Benedict...which were like hard boiled eggs. My husband didn't even attempt to eat the omelet...I took 1 bite of the eggs Benedict it was so bad I didn't finish it. Ok 1 more try...pancakes...there was 3 cold pancakes in the warmer and only sugar free syrup. I asked him if they had regular syrup and again he had to check with the kitchen...I never did find out if they had syrup....and the whole time we were there the pancakes were never refilled. The place was packed with people one would think that they would be better prepared for a Sunday Brunch...which they have the brunch every Sunday. The one positive thing I can say is that our server was very good! She was slammed with many tables and she kept up with coffee refills and kept checking with us. I stopped here after church with my parents on Sunday. We were given a 15 minute wait for a table and handed a buzzer so we could wander the store until they were ready for us. They have a huge buffet set up for brunch on Sundays- the restaurant doesn't seem that big so it felt like the buffet took up a lot of space but it looked like a lot of good choices. We opted to order off the menu which gives you options in several categories- Asian, pizza/flatbread, burgers, tacos, etc. I ordered the Asian dinner for one which came with an appetizer (TRY THE BACON MAPLE JALAPENO WONTONS), soup, rice and a full entree for $10. I got sesame chicken and it was piping hot and delicious- I'm excited to eat the leftovers. My parents got fish tacos and the tomato basil flatbread and were both pleased with their choices. My mom had coffee and our waitress came back to the table at least 3 or 4 times to refill her cup- she was very attentive to our beverages. Overall this is a fun place to sit down and enjoy a meal. We'll definitely return to try out the Sunday buffet! read more

I really like the restaurant here. I have always gotten excellent service (sorry other posters who did not!) And the food is always very delicious and fresh. I just commented last night how fresh all the produce and meat are that they use when preparing meals. Last night we did firecracker shrimp appetizer, I had the chicken parmesan and my husband did the Chinese for 1. The only thing he wasn't happy with was the fried rice. We compared it to like either making fried rice with day old rice (the proper way) but his was fluffier and more than likely made with fresh rice. We came on a Friday night 9pm. They must have been cutting servers or something at that time because we waited over10mins before anyone would acknowledge us. Once we did get a server, she was great and attentive. We started with the crab cheese dip. Would not recommend. Just flavorless cheese with a single leg of crab meat over it. The pita chips tasted stale. We had the loaded Mac and cheese with snow crab was extremely cheesy so if you like that, that's good. Pasta was a little over cooked. We also had the chicken Alfredo. Sauce was lacking, but tasted fine. The chicken was really good though, moist and flavorful. read more

Had dinner there tonight for the first time - will likely do once more, but in no hurry. Friendly server, and manager talked to us for a few minutes, got our input on the place, so thinking (hoping) the issues were start-up in nature. I had Shepard's Pie - was very disappointed. Server placed the plate down, I grabbed it, then she said "watch out, it's hot", to which I replied "no it isn't". Shepards's pie should be assembled in the dish and baked; this was just slow-cooked beef chunks (still kind of tough) thrown together with some veggies and Sam's Club gravy, served in a bowl with a scoop of mashed potatoes put on top - gravy very runny. Wife had a burger (with no bun, per her diet), but was very shy on the mango salsa that was supposed to come with it. She did think the burger tasted OK. Big worry is that a HyVee (with a Market Grille) is coming to Cottage Grove, and the Grille is replacing a very popular, locally-owned restaurant in that spot, (which HyVee bought out). They better step up their game if they want to compete here. read more

I had very high hopes for the Market Grille because I absolutely love Hy-Vee and this store in particular. However, I was disappointed with my first curb to go order. The good: it was ready on time, and it was delivered right to my car door! The food that was in the box was also very tasty. The cons: part of my meal was missing. The order online said that my meal came with one side, and I selected fries, and it also said that it came with a drink. However when I opened the boxes there was no drink and no fries. Unfortunately, given my tight schedule for the evening, I was unable to go inside and request the missing items. Will I try again? Yes. But I recommend going inside to pick up your order so that you can make sure everything is there and acquire any forgotten items. read more

The service is absolutely amazing here! I've gone for their late night happy hour during the week and they have half off beers and appetizers.
