Beautiful hotel, centrally located. About 35 min from Midway airport. We had a red eye flight, landing at 545 am and arriving at the hotel at 7am with check in at 3pm. We went to the front desk hoping a room might be available but sadly it wasn't. Kathy at the front indicated she'd call me personally if anything opened up. There were quite a few groups of ppl with suitcases that appeared to be waiting in the downstairs lobby, so we were realistic but optimistic. We fully expected that we might be stuck wandering like zombies for hours. We grabbed breakfast at the hotel restaurant downstairs and before we even finished, Kathy called me to let me know she had a room for us. She went above and beyond and had the most amazing customer service. We gratefully got a few hours of sleep to prepare us for the rest of our weekend. Amazing bar on 2nd floor - if you have Discoverist status and up they give you $25 per day at the bar if charged to your room in addition to free 33oz of water daily at the Market. The hotel is so walkable and perfectly located with the Riverwalk right across the street. We walked a lot and it was about 15 min to get back to the hotel from most places. We absolutely loved this hotel and would def book again. read more

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Chicago and when I tell you this hotel is HUGE, I mean HUGE! There are different towers so it can take a minute to figure out where you're going. Check-in is upstairs not on the main level. The hotel has several restaurants, and I definitely recommend making reservations because the lines can get long, especially on a busy weekend. We also received a 25 nightly credit that could be used at participating hotel restaurants during certain evening hours, but not at the Market. Our room was clean and comfortable. I was on the 20th floor with a river view which was beautiful. I could still hear some music from the boats on the river, which surprised me being that high up, but it wasn't loud enough to disturb my sleep. My mother was on the 30th floor and said she didn't hear anything. Transportation was super convenient. Taxis are right outside, Ubers were easy to get, and there's even a place inside the hotel to rent a car. They even had an area where you can check in for your flight and I believe you could print boarding tickets. There are also nice sitting areas throughout the hotel with city views, charging stations and fireplaces, plus a gym and spaces that look like they can be used for private events. Everyone was nice, but Camille at the front desk was especially helpful and accommodating. It's a little pricey, but we enjoyed our stay. The room even passed my high touch area clean. when I come into hotels I know they have tons of rooms to clean and so they do them very quickly and miss spots so yes, I do come into hotel rooms and clean my room and I will say some hotels comes up dirty especially on the high touch areas but I have to say my room did not have any dirt come up. the bed wasn't the most comfortable. I feel like it kind of sunk in the middle. The location is a BIG plus you're right near Michigan Avenue and plenty of attractions, restaurants and other things are within walking distance. read more

Overall a great stay in downtown Chicago. Hyatt Regency Chicago is a big hotel with lots of business conferences happening here. So there are lots of business travelers and we see some tourists. The front desk is always busy but we were able to utilize text message to communicate our needs. The hotel is right next to the river and just minutes away from boarding location of First Lady Architecture River Cruise. It's a major plus for us since the river cruise is on top of our list when visiting Chicago. There is a club lounge at this hotel. If you have access to the lounge, there's drinks and snacks that you can grab during the hours it's open and it has a great view. With club access, you get breakfast at the American Craft restaurant on the first floor. We got a room with river view. The room is nice and clean. Only downside is the staff had to service our bathroom since the bathroom in the next room had problem and they had to fix it from our side too. The location is great but it's a bit far from public transportation. We relied on ride sharing service and walked along the river and to Michigan Ave. read more

The amenities were also strong, and the room itself was comfortable and well-maintained, top floor. The view was magnificent at night, but that was mainly because of the specific room type I requested. Without that view, I would have rated this hotel much lower because of the service. Unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing. On the day of checkout, while I was sick and still sleeping, housekeeping entered at around 7:30 a.m. to clean the room. I also stayed on the top floor, and something seemed to be loose on the roof, causing repeated banging against the wall or ceiling for several hours. After checkout, my bags were still stored at the hotel, but when I tried to use a basic facility (that is available even for non-guests) about two hours later, the doorbell/front-desk staff member almost did not let me in and then argued with me about the hotel the policy. Management was confused about that staff's behavior and told me they would follow up about the issues, but I never heard back. Overall, the hotel has a great location, nice amenities, and decent rooms, but the service and follow-through were far below expectations for a Hyatt property. read more

Came here on a family/work trip and couldn't have been more pleased. From check in to check out the staff and amenities were great. Check in staff were quick and cordial on another level. Wait staff and bar staff were very nice and thorough in their tasks, not a single hiccup which is appreciated in a busy hotel environment. Maid service was on point and cleaned and restocked our rooms very precisely and that says alot with a couple little one's that are messy! Although this hotel doesn't have a pool and a couple things we would have enjoyed it made up for in service and value! read more

The layout was kind of confusing initially with all the levels, but for as busy as the hotel was this entire week (2 conferences, the World Cup, and the fact that this is Chicago), it has been a great stay. This hotel was great! Beautiful location (but with its location in the middle of the Magnificent Mile comes a lot of noise and sirens at all hours). Walls are very thin and you can easily hear outside. Water pressure in shower is also pretty low. The hotel itself is clean and spacious. The Market offers Starbucks coffee which is convenient. Although they offer complimentary water (which is quite rare for hotels these days...), you do have to ask the front desk for a bottle every time (versus room service leaving fresh ones when they clean your room). Rooms were nice and big. The market place downstairs has a lot of food for a quick bit if you arrive late at the hotel. Be prepared for a lot of folks due to the amount of conferences that seem to be held there. Its not a big thing but there was a lot of people. Can't wait to go back. read more

My review should not make people hesitate to stay at this hotel, but please stay away from room 2551 in the East Tower. I was here for a conference and is very friendly lady in the reception. Tried to upsell me to a better view on on payment. I am a World of Hyatt member and I was expecting at least to to get some recognition of my membership. The the room was so noisy and initially I thought it was probably the Chicago wind and since I was with a at the conference I asked others if their rooms were noisy and they said no. The next morning I called the reception and I was told that the noise was because of the elevator and it seemed like it was common knowledge that this room had something like a train running through every 3 to 4 minutes. I was a little disappointed that this room was given to me and no fair warning that it was noisy. I spoke to the front office manager who arranged To have me move to a different room which was a big inconvenience because I'd already unpacked and I was busy with the conference. It's a big hotel other than this experience. The location is really great and you're very close to the million Mile and the river. Most of the staff were friendly other than the person who checked me in who was friendly but may have just thought that that I would not complain about the noise and give me the worst room in the hotel. I hope the management will take care so that no other guest has this experience. The rooms are quite big for downtown hotel. It has good amenities. I would not mind staying in this hotel on a future visit. read more

Perhaps 4.5 stars. We had a customs/layover at O'Hare on the way back from Marrakesh and, 2-months ago, decided to just turn it into a 36 hour layover. The Hyatt excels in location for the purposes that we carefully scheduled on this targeted visit. We are both veterans of the Windy City, having lived here at different phases in our separate/earlier lives. We flew all night and arrived at 10am. Concierge had a secure (manned) room where the bellhops tagged our luggage for the 4-5 hours until our room became ready. On this visit we wanted to do three things including an architectural river cruise and the Hyatt is located barely one block from the river boat launches and it's 3 blocks to the Magnificent Mile (Michigan Ave) shops. It was also walking distance (about 1.3 miles) to Mr. Beef and not too far (10 min Uber) to Swift & Sons (a Michelin rated Chicago steakhouse in the West Loop). The Hyatt is huuuge and the intimate attention and ambience that we are generally more accustomed to with standard hotels in smaller cities is not here. There are scores of travelers bustling in/out throughout the massive lobby. The comparatively small driveway is equal measures controlled chaos, with taxis, personal cars, ubers all jostling for short term access (no parking there!) But with ample staff at all points, checking in or hailing a ride did not require much of a wait. Our "14th floor" room was large and clean. Views at this location unavoidably look across to another high rise so the large windows generally remained curtained. Walls are a little bit thin (we could hear toilets flush (above us I think) and rushing water as showers lit up around us, come morning). But sleeping was easy with no street noises, nicely firm beds, and efficient HVAC. Their mini fridge was cold and their safe is industry-standard-easy to use. Floors are all tiled (no carpet anywhere) and that was actually refreshing. We already have another visit planned next year, targeting another "corner" of Chicago but if your purpose/attractions are co-located within this Hyatt's radius, it is definitely worth considering. read more

Have attended plenty of weddings, showers and other events at hotel banquet facilities. The food was not good at all, the sides would usually be bland and the meat would be rubbery. Not the case at this hotel. This is honestly the first hotel banquet facility where ALL of the food was a deliciously flavorful ten out of ten. We had to preorder prior to the date. I chose the salmon; cooked to perfection and seasoned nicely. Topped with a cream sauce to die for. The sides were mashed potatoes and collard greens with turnips. DELICIOUS! This Hyatt, the largest Hyatt in the WORLD, was just outstanding. Everything about it from the service to the perks to the facilities was very appreciated. The staff service was pleasant and efficient. We book a room with Regency Club access, and this was beyond our expectation. It included all day access to the Club for snacks and drinks, AND breakfast daily (easily $150/day for our family). Our room was spacious, as we basically had four adults, and we fit comfortably (unlike the other hotel we stayed at in the same trip). We had a gorgeous view of the river leading to Lake Michigan, which we received an upgrade for. The lobby area offered a bar with floor to ceiling windows showcasing the Chicago skyline (Big Bar), an eatery (American Craft Kitchen, where we had our breakfasts), and led to other dining areas. We received a daily $25 dining credit that we used in these spaces for drinks or dessert. The gym was spacious, with lots of machines, weights, towels, and water dispenser. I wish we had used it more. The hotel is essentially two giant sections (one has the convention area) connected by a bridge...I see why it's the largest Hyatt. Could walk to most downtown areas, it's located one block off Michigan Avenue. We did not drive a car here, so cannot speak to that. Would easily stay here again, and so would Hubs, and THAT is saying something! read more

The toilet paper here is impossible to use without it getting stuck in every single nook and cranny where the sun don't shine. Not only is this insanely unhygienic, but it ruins the mood when you want to get intimate with the person you're staying with. Also, if the toilet paper doesn't do its only job, what do you think people are using instead to clean themselves? The towels, that's right! Meaning every towel in this hotel likely has been up someone's genitals. Disgusting. Final gripe: no microwave in the room. We just wrapped up a stay at the Hyatt Regency Chicago that completely blew us away! From the moment we checked into the Millennium Suite, we knew this trip was going to be something special. The Room & Design The suite is absolutely massive and beautifully appointed, but what really stands out is how thoughtfully and intentionally everything is decorated. Someone clearly took the time to curate the space so that every single piece wasn't just pretty to look at, but functionally aesthetic. From the clever, flattering lighting in the bathroom to the sophisticated design touches scattered all over the property, the attention to detail is unmatched. And waking up in that suite? The views are everything. Dining, Sports & Atmosphere The hotel footprint is huge in the best way possible, offering three or four different bar areas that make it a fantastic, lively spot to grab a drink, socialize, and catch a sports game on the screens. For dining, the options are seamless--there is a great marketplace right inside the hotel for quick bites and essentials, which is conveniently connected to Stetsons, their modern steak and sushi restaurant. We also ordered the breakfast skillet during our stay, and it was delicious--way better than we even expected! Location & A Major Pro Tip You literally cannot beat this prime location. You are within easy walking distance of the best restaurants, the Chicago River and Riverwalk, Navy Pier, and major public transportation. Pro Tip: The hotel is connected directly to the Pedway, Chicago's underground walking tunnel system! We were able to take an easy, climate-controlled stroll through the Pedway to completely bypass the street traffic and avoid the hot, humid weather outside. It is an absolute game-changer for getting around the city comfortably. We came from the Blue line. You could literally, fly into O'Hare, walk onto the Blue line (a CTA train) get off onto the pedway and walk to the hotel. No car needed! Final Verdict The staff was great from check-in to checkout, elevating an already top-tier experience. This Hyatt Regency is pretty impressive. It's on Wacker, close to the river. A sky bridge connects the east and west towers. The main lobby is massive and very shiny. It's certainly meant to hold large groups of people in the underground conference rooms. Check-in is located on the second floor of the East tower. Just take the stairs or escalator up. They have a glowing light ball that's sometimes a Pokèball and sometimes the Earth. Check-in seemed to be a breeze, though there was a short delay at 7:15pm on a Friday night. We were put in a room on the 35th floor in the West tower (which also has conference functions at the lobby level). Upon check-in, we were presented with keycards, and daily $25 vouchers for hotel restaurant purchases after 5pm. They specified that the vouchers are not valid at the convenience store ("market"). I requested some toothpaste, razor and shaving cream, and slippers at check-in. It turns out that they don't stock those items at the front desk. Instead, they place a request with housekeeping, who will deliver those items to your room. After we arrived at our room, the items were delivered roughly 20 minutes after. So, not too quick, but not too slow either. Our room had a south facing view of Millenium Park. Within the room, there was an amenity menu, indicating what types of items could be provided, such as tooth paste. What I appreciated about this hotel was that toothpaste was provided in actual tubes, rather than those sample pouches. The room itself was very clean. Part of the floor near the entrance was slightly not level. The bathroom was shiny and did not smell. The shower was a bathtub with a cloth curtain. The cloth curtain didn't seal very well, and water from the shower tended to splash out onto the floor; the direction of the shower head was not adjustable, but the output of the shower head was adjustable by rotating the switch. Turning on the water was slightly confusing. Blue color coding was present on the top half (10oclock to 2oclock), but to turn on the water, the handle needed to be rotated downwards, counterclockwise, which was unlabeled (and cold). Hot water then came at at 1 o'clock. The mirror featured backlighting and a building in digital clock, which was quite useful. An ironing board and an iron were located near the entrance in the clothes hanging rack. The iron featured a retractable cord. The ironing board was free of dust. The iron was free of griminess and worked well. The lights in the room operate using motion sensors and pressure switches. Lamps have a physical on/off switch. All tabletop surfaces were polished stone. Outlets were available o both sides of the bed, four in total. A lounging couch is located by the window. The floor is rock solid. The thermostat appears to be modern. It is a touch screen, displays the weather, and it is in color. However, it seemed that the air conditioner in the room struggled to cool the room to below 73F, even though the target temperature had been set to 69F. This resulted in a slightly warm room that slightly uncomfortable to sleep in. Noise in the room was quiet. The only noise was about 20 seconds of brief conversation heard through the wall from our neighbors, and it was not bothersome at all. Wi-Fi is free and did not seem to have a captive portal. The elevators were pretty speedy. The skyway between towers on the second floor features plenty of workspaces, with outlets for every single seat or space. This extends to the workspaces on the second floor "Gallery" in the West tower too. The East tower houses the restaurants on the first floor. The Big Bar is on the second floor after checkin. There is a copious amount of seating. The West tower had a fitness room on the second floor. It was stocked with LifeTime fitness treadmills, ellipticals, and a handful of cycling machines. There are a handful of weight machines. Dumbbells are located in the corner. Motivational quotes are printed on the walls. A beverage machine is located near the digital scale. They also have those big rubber balls that you can use to keep balance. They have towels and disposable headphones. For check out, they provide a card with a QR code and phone number, meaning you can check out remotely. They do ask that the keycards are returned to a dropbox by checkin. This allows for a quick exit. read more

We are staying at the Hyatt regency in downtown Chicago for four nights. We are in the East Tower, which houses the main lobby and restaurants. If you happen to have club access, that is in a different Tower. You do not have to leave the hotel to access it, because there is a sky bridge. The rooms at the Hyatt are small, but they have everything you need in a compact hotel room. There's good service everyday and they replace your towels, which is essential since there really is no room to hang towels to dry and reuse. They've updated the rooms so the carpet is gone and the furnishings are as airy as possible to help. The rooms look less small and boxy. Overall, they're fine and a good value for this location. I love to stay at this Hyatt because of its location. It's fantastic for walking anywhere in central Chicago. It has everything you need and you also don't need a car. I recommend taking the train from O'Hare to this hotel. If you have a good small suitcase you can walk, or you can get an Uber from the nearest station and get here for about $7. This allows you to avoid the ridiculous parking fees. The only thing I wish the Hyatt had is a swimming pool. But, other than that it's great! read more

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency Chicago over Memorial Day Weekend. I think the location is great since it's right on the river and a short walk to Michigan Ave. I booked through the World of Hyatt and used points so my opinion on value might be a little skewed. I'm not sure if I'd book a room here if I were paying out of pocket rather than with rewards points. However, everything here was pretty good. I'm not that picky when it comes to hotels though. The king bed was comfy, the room was clean when we checked in and was regularly cleaned every day. The booking also came with a $25/night credit valid after 5PM that could be used at any of the 3 restaurants in the hotel. Unfortunately I was only able to make use of it once during my 3 night stay but it was appreciated nonetheless. The check-in process was smooth and my room was ready a lot earlier than the slotted 3PM check-in time. Staff was very friendly. I was also able to request things like toiletries or linens through the World of Hyatt app and they were pretty prompt in bringing them into the room. That's not to say that the stay was perfect but the following things are just nitpicks really. I didn't like that there was no microwave in the room to use. There is one on the first floor to use right outside of Starbucks. I also felt like the TV was mounted at a weird angle relative to the couch and the TV. Stayed here for several conferences and it features large meetings spaces and room configurations for a number of programs. Rooms themselves are well lit and have a decent amount of space. Location and views are terrific too. Not sure I would stay here outside of a conference as conference people constantly come through this hotel, but it is otherwise a good stay. read more

This Hyatt is huge and it's located close to the river. There's a bar on the second floor that is beautiful. My room was on the 31st floor of the West tower and there is a convenient bridge on the second floor that connects the East and West towers. Since I'm a member of the Hyatt Globalist, I had free breakfast buffet which was delicious. There were so many options to choose from. The staff was excellent and very nice and assisted my family and I with all our stuff. One of the staff members even provided recommendations of things to see in Chicago since it was our first time visiting. The room was spacious, clean, and we had a pretty nice view of the river. This hotel is convenient since it is located near the Riverwalk and near many restaurants, bars, etc. I would stay here again when I come back to Chicago. read more

Cozy hotel right by the riverfront. I was able to check in early which was a bonus! I came to stay here for the Chicago marathon. I had requested a late check out on Sunday, months in advance and was denied. All I needed was an hour. I even offered to pay for an extra hour. Still denied. It was a bummer because I knew I wasn't going to be finished the marathon before check out time at noon, and all I needed was 10 minutes to shower before my flight. My other friends staying at other locations were all granted late check outs. Lesson learned. I was offered an upgrade with a view for $34 more per night but still could not get a late check out. The room was spacious. Bathroom large. Really awesome black out curtains. Bed low to the ground, super comfy. I was able to leave my bags with the bag check while I went to run the marathon. read more

The wifey and I took a early Christmas holiday getaway to Chicago and stayed at the Hyatt Regency. The location alone was perfect; close to the Riverwalk, Michigan Ave/Mag Mile shopping, CTA trains on the blue/red line and stunning views of the lake. The room was clean, cozy, spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and quick to help, check-in/check-out was online so it helped eliminate the wait of going to the desk. The hotel gives you a $25 voucher to use per day after 5pm on food, snacks or a drink for a night cap after a long day which was a nice perk. Only downsides: no microwave, although there is a mini fridge, no pool, and the parking is pricey, but keep in mind you are in downtown Chicago. Overall, i'd recommend staying here. It's the perfect distance to so many good restaurants, coffee shops, shopping and transportation services. read more

Large recently renovated conference hotel. Definitely a decent stay. First thing you notice about this hotel is how massive it is. Huge lobby with multiple restaurants on first floor, 2nd floor check-in and fancy bar. More importantly, there are two separate towers connected by a bridge with plenty of seating and additional lounge area. Everything is modern, hip, and fancy. Check-in went well for the most part. Front desk lady didnt know when the lounge closed which is a training issue, but was able to explain key parts of the hotel and get your key without too much of a wait. Never saw a line at check-in which is awesome. I was in the tower attached to the lobby, room was well appointed (though darker / less lights then I would like) and very spacious. Bathroom was also huge (a bit too big as it looked at bit empty). Bed was very comfortable. Pillows were great. AC / Heat worker as expected. Wifi was a bit slow though and I had to get off it a few times. Also, water pressure was terrible. Maybe because I'm on 33 out of 34 floors, but definitely didnt do it for me. I was here for a conference. The hotel was clean, updated and curated for the best conference needs. We were a large conference with many rooms needed throughout the day. It was laid out where you did not have to go through multiple levels. Dining options were good and bars were nice. Staff very friendly no matter where you were. Navigating this hotel is a pain! The parking garage, the tunnels, amenities, 2nd floor lobby is way more complicated than it needs to be! I also had a very difficult experience with a gentleman at the desk over a complimentary water. I called prior to arriving and there was still an issue. Lastly, just as a heads up: there is no room service. There are restaurants downstairs, but they only offer dine-in services. Best perk is that there is always taxi cabs on standby downstairs. Great for going to dinner, event, or a show (especially when dressed up). read more

Really solid category four Hyatt. Location is central and the service feels personalized even though the hotels boasts over 1,000 rooms. Views are nice and they have a helpful/thoughtful way of sending your stuff if you leave it in your room. Rooms are renovated, and have plenty of space for a city hotel. Nice views but small windows unfortunately because of the buildings age of construction. I'd definitely come back here. Recommended for families, business travelers, effectively the whole nine yards. read more

Let's begin by talking about the pros of the trip. The elevators were extremely fast even with large conference numbers in the hotel. I did enjoy the fast check-in and checkout process, which can be done via the app or the desk but we opted for the app. There were vegan options at the market as well as restaurants within the hotel, as well as around in the area. And I enjoyed the abundance of amenities that could be provided if you forgot something when traveling. Now with all that being said, I must begin to talk about the cons with the price that was paid there were chips in the headboard, hair on the floor in the room, the grout in the shower was dirty, and there was chipping in the wallpaper. I have attached photos below. The cleaning staff and bellhop were extremely friendly however, the individual who was told to get our bags and put them on the trolley was very rude. Let me explain this hotel has a policy that states that you can valet your car or park in a surrounding parking garage. If you choose to valet your car that will be $97 per day. I know astronomical however it's Chicago so I'm not surprised. No shade to Chicago but I've traveled to major cities and this is not shocking. When I attempted to take my trolley or remove items from the trolley that was going to go up to my room, the individual on the first floor was very rude and told me I could no longer touch the trolley that let me say this contained my items! I was offering to bring my own luggage up to my room up until that point, and this man who could've de-escalated the situation, decided not to explain plainly that the bellhop was in charge of taking my things to the room. Meaning my items which contained personal things were sitting out in the open for an extended amount of time until they were transported to the room. But wait, there's more while I was attending a conference. I looked down at one of the doors and saw roaches the size of a original iPhone by one of the doors. Now guarantee these roaches were not in my room and I am very grateful for that, but it was shocking that the hotel didn't clean these up as there was a conference happening. Catering did an excellent job with their breakfast options for the conference. I'd also like to note that the hotel does not offer any options for attractions in the area for example surrounding hotels may offer discounts or transportation services. This hotel does not have that option. Another thing I'd like to note is they have a gym facility available however, there is no swimming pool. Parking is free on side streets on Sunday so if you don't want to play the $97 a day valet parking I would suggest taking your car out parking on the side street for free then coming back in and having to do the $97 the next day. The bathroom could use some brighter lighting when I was in the bathtub/shower. I found it to be darker requiring me to take the mirror light and put it towards the shower/bathroom. I did enjoy that they had lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, which were all vegan. During my conference there was limited bathrooms for attendees which were over 2000 in total. Meaning a lot of the stalls ran out of toilet paper requiring attendees to find it and surrounding areas. Given that the conference was over 2000 individuals in total, and a lot of the stalls contained only three places to use the restroom. It was tumultuous. This was incredibly intense for individuals within end of the conference who were disabled as they had to wait in long lines just to use the handicap accessible bathrooms. Although this hotel was absolutely beautiful and they had a beautiful view of the city. I have to say they have a lot of work to do considering the price I paid for the room. Hyatt Regency Chicago is an excellent place to stay. McDonald's USA held a conference. Everyone stayed at the Hyatt. The rooms were nice. The beds are lush. The restaurants/ bars are cool. read more
