Overall the room was clean, well maintained with a comfy mattress. Due to a last minute upgrade request, we got a great river view room from where to enjoy the river dyeing. This was one of the best parts of staying here. The only complaint for the room is the lack of lighting in the area near the window- which was a third of the room. The hotel amenities are pretty good too. The hotel bar has happy hour specials. The coffee bar on the main floor has plenty of snacks and some warm food options as well. Outstanding flagship Hyatt property. This hotel is super conveniently located right in the heart of Chicago. My room is warm and comfortable and has an amazing lakefront view. It was absolutely immaculate as well. All the furniture appears to be new too. On check in Raymond at the WoH desk was super welcoming and friendly. He went out of his way to see to my needs and find me a great room. This is despite the hotel being very, very busy. Also in the Regency Club, Yvette was also outstanding. She is the perfect host. Yvette treated me like family. It is outstanding people like Raymond and Yvette that absolutely convince me of the value of globalist status with Hyatt. Located on the Chicago River just off Wacker and Michigan Ave, the hotel is close to everything! Restaurants, bars, shopping, Chicago Theater, etc. - the city is at your fingertips! ++ VIEWS are amazing. We booked a river view room - requesting one on a higher floor and boy, did they deliver. Our room was on the 22nd floor with the most gorgeous view of the city, water and Lake Michigan! ++ Rooms are modern, updated and large in size, creating the perfect space to spread out! ++ Staff is seriously wonderful. We arrived a little earlier than expected and had requested an early check in for just $15. When we arrived, our room wasn't ready but the attendant made a room swap and within minutes we were headed to our room! They were so helpful in providing directions, recommendations nearby and all with a smile! ++ The hotel itself is massive and features 3 different restaurants plus a market - allowing for all your dining and drinking needs! Not to mention, they have plenty of spaces for large scale meetings, weddings and more! Truly a massive property in the heart of downtown Chicago. ++ Pricing was surprisingly on point for being downtown Chicago. Although we were staying on a Wednesday and Thursday night, the room rates were under $200/night! I stayed here for the Chicago Marathon weekend and it was wonderful. The location is perfect with a lot within walking distance downtown. The hotel is huge with a few restaurants on site, working space and a gym. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Special for the marathon they had extra stretching, yoga mats, water and other additions for the runners. It was very thoughtful and a great touch. The rooms was spacious with comfortable beds. Massive downtown convention hotel that was nicely updated not too long ago. Two towers and lots of meeting space, bars, coffee shops, restaurants and gym. For as big as it is, very manageable to get around. Rooms are comfortable and surprisingly stylish. I stayed in the West Tower and apparently that has the best rooms. The overall experience was good. We were here for a conference so it was busy. The rooms were awesome! Clean, spacious, and comfortable. However the hotel layout for a conference was hectic. The layout is horrible. It was like a maze trying to find your breakout rooms and meeting spots. The signage was the worst, especially for bathrooms. Bathrooms seemed hidden. If you're looking for a very walkable, convenient location in downtown Chicago, this place is it. So the hotel has two towers and your view is dependent on which tower you get. Initially you get assigned a pretty basic, lower level room. But I paid a $30 upgrade fee and got a higher room with a nicer view. However, I was in east tower and the west facing view is obstructed by their other tower (kinda made upgrading pointless). My recommendation would be to stay in the West tower with a north facing window if you can. You get a beautiful view of the lake and Streeterville to the east and a great view of the Loop to the west. Winter or Summer, it's great. The room is okay. Standard. Could use some renovations. TV wasn't working at check in but maintenance fixed it promptly. Ladies at the front desk were very nice. Gym is decent also with nice views. The lobby and and restaurant are beautiful. The ceiling is glass and has tons of natural light. I sometimes just come to the lobby to do my work / have a drink on a regular weekday. Hertz is in the lobby if a car is needed. Hotel is always hosting meetings/conferences/weddings (it's huge). The skywalk is a nice little aesthetic as well. The bar on the second floor is open very late which was convenient. Parking is $70 a night. Expensive but expected for the area. In the winter, if you want to walk around, it's connected to the underground Loop pedway (can get you close to Millennium Park and the River Walk). read more

Had a great stay here on a recent Thursday - Sunday, after getting a solid deal for this property using Priceline. When we arrived there were only a few people ahead of us to check-in. We were offered several upgrade options including a river or downtown view for something like $25 extra per night which we passed on, or a higher floor for $5 extra per night, which we took. We were given a room on the 35th floor with a great view of the lower part of the city, lower section of the Chicago River and Navy Pier in the slight distance. The room was recently remodeled, but to be frank, I wasn't a fan of the "updates" they'd made. The former decor, bedding and carpet I've seen in photos seemed much more in-line with a better quality hotel chain like Hyatt. The new design featured colors popular with HGTV-inspired quick house flips, and our room certainly looked and felt like one... grey walls and light-grey furniture, and with the grey laminate wood floors and an area rug around the bed, it felt more like a stark college dorm room or cheap apartment than a tastefully appointed hotel. I certainly expected better from a brand like Hyatt. That said, the internet was plenty fast, the TV had a good variety of channels and we made use of the in-room Keurig machine each morning of our stay here. The bed was comfortable, but the A/C didn't keep the room very cool and the fan sounded like a jet engine. The restaurant/bars in the expansive lobby were quite large, they had tons of TVs for watching sports at the "BIG Bar" and they have an on-site steakhouse and a souvenir shop, all of which offered discounts to people staying at this hotel. One thing I thought was interesting is that they did charge a "destination fee" of $25 per day to stay here, but that also gave guests at this hotel $25 in daily credit to be used at the on-site bars or restaurants. The bridge between the 2 hotel towers is set up for business travelers with several workstations and laptop-friendly seating, outfitted with power and USB charger outlets. This hotel is only a few blocks away from Millennium Park where you'll find The Bean (Cloud Gate), Pritzker Pavilion and a few other attractions, and directly across the street from stairs that lead down to the Riverwalk. There are lots of restaurants, bars and activities within easy walking distance of this property - It's in a great location for sure. When ready to check out they were happy to keep our luggage for a few hours, but when we initially asked for late check out due to our later flight, they first wanted to charge us a significant amount for a much later departure time (a few hours after our flight would've taken off), before relenting and offering us complimentary check out at 1 p.m. read more

The check-in process was fairly smooth, my only issue was that the room was not ready, and I chose to upgrade which is fine. And they also do not have a parking garage. They only offer valet parking for around $70 a night which is a bit too pricey for me and I wish that there was a disclaimer somewhere that said that. All of the staff that I spoke to her very pleasant and nice. Throughout my stay I kept getting hot and turning the air lower or putting the fan but nothing seem to be working. The Hyatt is one of the bigger, nicer hotels in the area. It's actually two buildings connected with a skywalk and has a large "driveway". Within the building is 2 bars, a mini coffee snack place, and 2 restaurants- plus a gym, "club" area, and lots of seating area. Check in is up the escalator. The American Craft Kitchen and Bar comprises most of the Hyatt Residency's lower floor plan. The 3? story open concept atrium consists mostly as the back area for breakfast. Dinner area is typically the bar area of some of the breakfast seating. At night they use different colors to light the area. It offers a breakfast buffet, a $35 ish value per person. We had club passes for this stay. They also gave us coupons for free waters. The club access is in the west tower, 35th floor. They don't have breakfast but give you the buffet at the main entrance first floor, American Craft Kitchen and Bar, a $35 ish value per person. The club itself has some snacks during the day. For dinner, around 5:30 it had some roasted vegetables, raw vegetables, cheese, chicken tenders, a flavorful clam chowder. The roasted vegetables were cold on purpose but others seemed to enjoy it. Drinks are around $5-$8 each. A staff member unlocked the liquor to serve you. read more

Overall this is an amazing hotel. We had a staycation here for a downtown holiday party. I expected this older hotel to be a bit dated and dingy, but instead, it was well updated. This hotel is enormous and has a "corporate hotel" feel, so it will disappoint you if you want a quaint or cozy space. Otherwise, you will probably enjoy it. Our room was spacious, with a large TV, and there was plenty of room to get ready for two people. I was thrilled that the thermostat had a very unobtrusive sound to it, if any at all, and controlling it involves a modern, user-friendly interface. Our view was minimal, a west view with a sliver of the riverwalk, but that's fine since we're local anyway. Special shoutout to the BED! It is so comfortable! It is not as firm as hotel beds usually are, but it doesn't sink in too much or sacrifice support, so most people would be happy with it. The pillows have a bit of a typical hotel problem where one is too few and two are too many, but that's so common, and I still slept great. It is idiotic to necessitate a resort fee, I'm sorry. I get the idea of making money; that is its goal! But resort fees feel sneaky and unscrupulous. We are not a resort. This is not Vegas or Hawaii, and weather-wise, I doubt you would confuse us with either location. (I also find it annoying when New York hotels have this, and almost all do.) My last concern here is that valet is run terribly. My husband tried to text the provided number but got a response saying it didn't work, wasn't in service, or something like that. Going down to the Gold level for the car, the people working in the office had a very difficult time locating us, telling us they ultimately charged the wrong person for our valet! Then they fixed it and charged us instead. They blamed it being a busy morning, but this hotel has been here for a while, and I doubt this is their first time experiencing a busy Sunday morning. Enjoyed my short stay here for a conference. Reserving online was easy. Check in and out was fast. Did I ever really know where I was in the building? No but there are maps everywhere. Couldn't ask for a better location. Right on the river and just a short walk to the lakefront. The service and food served at the conference was great. Always hot and tasty. Good WiFi throughout. I didn't eat at any of the places in the hotel but they looked very nice. I had a king room that looked out on the River in the main tower of the hotel. It was a sizeable room. Comfy bed. I stayed here during my last day/night in Chicago and it was the perfect way to end my amazing trip to the Windy City (which wasn't all that windy when I was there). Check-in is up the escalators on the second floor. It seemed like large groups tend to stay here so I tried to make a bee-line to the check-in counter to beat the crowd that just came out of a large bus. I was able to check in pretty quickly and the girl asked if I'd be ok with a smaller, corner room, but with a view of the river. I was by myself so that was completely fine with me. There are two towers and my room was located high up in the West Tower. The room felt a little dated, but comfortable and the view -- aaahmazing! I loved looking out of the window and seeing the river below, especially at night. The bed was comfortable and the room was the perfect size for one person with ample outlets for charging all the things. There was also another door that connected to the adjacent room and I could hear the people in there a bit, but not for long. The great part about this hotel is that it is very centrally located. The Chicago Riverwalk is right across the hotel, Navy Pier was an easy 10-15 minute walk, The Bean was less than 10 minutes, and it's near many eateries and shops with a handful within the hotel itself. They also have a Lyft bike rental parking near the West Tower which I wish I knew about earlier. I parked my bike there and it was definitely convenient! Stayed at the Hyatt Regency Chicago for 4 days. The location was super convenient as this was for a work trip. The hotel itself was interesting because there were two towers. The main area where you check in with rooms on the upper levels and a tower across the street with additional rooms. I was able to check in on my phone and didn't have to visit the front desk at all. The second tower required a key to enter the hotel after 10 pm and for the elevator so late at night, be sure to keep it handy. I was really lucky to be upgraded to to a king bed with a view of the lake and the view was absolutely stunning. The room itself was giant with a closet area, desk and enough space for one to exercise in the room. The bathroom was also a really great size and the shower was giant which was fantastic. I would definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a really nice hotel in the Chicago area with plenty of space. read more

I've stayed here a few times and have never had any real issues. The front desk workers and any staff I pass by are always friendly and helpful. They give me a lot of info about the hotel, restaurant, and good spots in the area. The hotel is big and has a nice lobby. The connecting wing to the East building has a gym and cute seating area. The rooms are spacious and they offer little amenities like cotton swabs, cotton balls, and a shower cap, in addition to the standard soaps and lotion. The location is convenient and it's walkable to everything. Millennium park is 5-10 min by foot. There's a pizza spot a couple blocks away, along with tons of other food places. You can easily cross the bridge to all the bars and restaurants. I don't love that the shower water pressure is meh. But it's not bad! Don't get me wrong. My last stay, there was a booger on the top sheet of one of the clean beds that grossed me out, and a black speck of something on the pillow. The other bed didn't have anything so I slept in that one. Otherwise, the room was very clean. I think this was just a one off because I haven't had anything like this in the past. read more

We got an awesome deal to stay here through Priceline. It's in an amazing location downtown and if you get the right room, there are incredible views. We chose to upgrade our room at check-in for a better view and when we opened the door, we were not disappointed! We had an awesome view of the riverwalk and from the window right outside our hotel, we could see Lake Michigan. Our favorite thing about the hotel was it's location. The Hyatt Regency is right by the Wrigley Building and you could totally walk to Navy Pier if you wanted. It's in the Magnificent Mile area, right off Michigan Ave. and about a mile to Water Tower Place. You're also within walking distance to the Art Institute, Millennium Park, and all of the shopping Chicago's known for. We had a ~situation~ while we were here that kinda put a damper on the mood. After we checked in, we went out for a long walk and had dinner. When we came back, my boyfriend took his shoes off and immediately noticed that the carpet was soaking wet. Somehow, the floor had low key flooded (maybe from the air conditioning unit? a connected room with an overflowing bathtub, a redrum type of ghost situation? You see where this is going...). We had to change rooms, and were super disappointed when our view was less stunning. But at the end of the day, i just kinda hope everything was okay in that other room. The front desk staff was very accommodating, and seemed to be as perplexed as we were at the cause. It took about an hour from the time we got back from dinner to move out of the first room into the second room--and like, it's only an hour, but an hour of your time at 10pm when you're on a little mini-vacay seems like too much. This hotel is located in a prime location right across from the Riverwalk & Michigan St. Centrally close to anything and within 20 minutes of most. The lobby is huge with a bar and restaurant that is opened from breakfast to dinner. A market and Stetson's restaurant. Take the escalator upstairs to registration and off to the side is a bigger bar. I believe this is the biggest Hyatt if not in the states, also in the world. I believe parking is like $70 per night, but if you are a Hyatt member, you get a discounted rate. The hotel is pretty modern looking with very nice decorations. There's an East and West wing. I was put in the West wing overlooking the Riverwalk and Michigan St. My king room was pretty big with an oversized chaise lounge chair. Though, I wish it was more firm. The bed was comfy, although I would have liked to have a firmer pillow. The bathroom was a good size with an adequate sink that has enough room to hold my toiletry items. I love that there's a ledge over the sink to hold more of your toiletries. The mirror has a built in clock. Shower pressure wasn't bad. Only issue was the toilet seat wasn't tightened down because it would move when I sit on it. So some things to know about this hotel, there is no pool or jacuzzi. They do not have room service and the WiFi speed for the free or $9.95 premium pricing is basically the same speed. Not sure if it's where my room is located as it was 2nd to the last. There is a fridge and safe in the room. There's also a good size desk to work on, though, the chair doesn't have any wheels on it so you can't move it around as easily. There's a Keurig looking machine for coffees or tea. Right next to the TV are power outlets with USB-A & USB-C ports. I was able to charge my MacBook Pro and other devices while plugged in. Now, one thing I really like about Hyatt is that their concierge and front desk staff was super informative and communicative. I love how someone from the Hyatt team reaches out prior to my stay to make sure I need everything and I have a point of contact if I need anything. The staff is very responsive whenever I pose a question through the chat using the Hyatt app. I have to say that Hyatt has the best customer service in this regard. Then up the escalator to the check-in floor and the Big Bar. The Big Bar was a fun and lively place with a very nice view. The bar food served here wasn't great so recommended that you eat before or after. Our room was spacious, clean, and had a gorgeous view of the river and city! The floor to ceiling windows gave a fabulous look of the area. The bathroom was larger than most & featured a large lit mirror. The hotel elevators were quick & there was virtually no wait time at all for sick a large hotel. Although the staff was friendly & helpful, once below the main floor, it was very confusing to get around. Hallways & doors everywhere in a difficult maze. At one point, we were looking for the hotel gift shop but ended up in some sort of underground mall with all stores & restaurants being closed other than McDonald's. The whole thing was confusing & difficult to maneuver. After that one time, we didn't venture before the main level of the hotel. Also of note was the easy access to cabs in the front of the hotel, but trying to get to your Uber was a walk down an icy slope because the Ubers & Lyfts were not allowed in the main drop off and pickup area. I stayed here recently and I just came to leave a review to say how grateful I am for people like Linda! I came downstairs in the middle of the night with an unusual guest issue and she was able to solve it with empathy and care. It was truly appreciated and made up for anything and everything I experienced prior to arriving which included being double charged for my stay, and then charged a third time plus incidentals...mortifying to check your bank account to before catching your flight. However, the team was able to rectify upon my arrival and I am grateful for the hyatt service as usual. read more

We were here for few nights with a toddler. Very ideal location. Hyatt members can save some pts. by being strategic and coming during off-season periods. It was very central and parks/etc. were to the close proximity. After a while, you get the hang of which elevator to use and where to walk etc. to get to your hotel room. There are two wings to the hotel. The price of breakfast was actually comparable to few other places we tried while we were in Chicago, so next time we'll probably do the same and not bother with walking to a restaurant/cafe for breakfast. Clean room and no issues with Wifi. The valet was reasonably quick to get our car. There is a super-close parking structure that those who don't want valet could potentially use. This will probably be other next go-to hotel when we are back in Chicago again. Highly recommend them. read more

Clean, spacious, convenient. Great views, everything is expensive though. Seems like a fairly safe area. Being from Birmingham, Alabama it's sorta shocking to see people, families walking around downtown. read more

Ok hotel w, good location. Nothing exceptional, nothing horrible either. Decent place to stay and be near lots of good attractions

Due to the fear of traveling and the pandemic, we were able to stay here at a discount. Only the main tower was opened, the other closed. The location is very central and safe. It's right in downtown and a few blocks from millennium park. And a few blocks from the L. From the room you can kind of see the River. Check in was easy, they close the real reception area and put some make shift desks downstairs for check in. We worked Thursday in their many lounge chair areas. They have plugs everywhere for laptops. It was nice. The room was decent size. We got 2 queens. The rooms were a little outdated, especially the bathroom but it was clean and worked. No refrigerator in the room. Air flow worked well. WiFi worked very well. The bar area is nice, I like the big bar and catching happy hour there. Overall not too bad. read more
