As a NASA & Jet Propulsion Laboratory Engineer i have worked on a wide array of instruments, components, and even entire spacecraft like the Mars Rover, but I am embarrassed to admit I have no idea how to fix my Prius when it has a problem. The great thing is.... Valentine does!!! That's why I only trust Valentine and his crew to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair my vintage 2007 Toyota Prius. It has 200K miles on it and I am hoping to put another 200K on it with Valentine's help. This time it was a bad fuel pump that was damaged after I ran out of gas and tried to start the car several times. Now, let me ask an engineering & design question. Would you integrate the fuel pump inside of the fuel tank so that when (not if) the fuel pump fails, you have to replace the entire gas tank assembly?? After all... this is not rocket science!!! Who designed this??? Valentine was very accommodating and explained the problem and the solution to me before any work started. Or if there were major issues to expect down the road, I could look into getting a new car instead of fixing this one. Ethan V. greeted me on his lunch break but made sure to listen to why I was there and gave me an idea of how long the wait would be and what to expect. Fortunately the car had a nearly clean bill of health. That is to be expected because I kept up with regular maintenance on the car. But they did recommend a few items to address to extend the useful life of the car: (1) Control Arms and Bushings had moderate wear, (2) my second set of tires had 3mm of tread, (3) the cabin air filter was a little worse for wear. My main concern, and why I brought it to this shop, was for hybrid red flags like battery issues. As Ethan explained to me, without taking apart the hybrid battery, it would not be possible to give a comprehensive health check for it. But since there were no error codes that came up that would indicate a problem with the hybrid system, the battery was still in good condition. He mentioned an anecdote of other Niros he's seen that that had 200k with the original battery to allay my concerns. He mentioned that I should also consider replacing the spark plugs probably due the mileage of the car. After giving me an estimate on what the cost would be if I decided to have them work on the issues, he said he could apply the paid inspection cost on the work if I decided to proceed in the next 30 days. Overall I had a great first visit with Electron and would consider returning if I decide to move forward with the recommended upkeep repairs.

Cesar said they skipped the rotation because my car "didn't need it" but tires should be rotated every 5k and I was due. My car still had OEM tires with wheel locks, and the dealership had neglected to give me the key to remove the tires, which I didn't know at the time. Bad on the dealer, bad on Electron, they almost certainly noticed and could've flagged it instead of the brush-off. Months later I had a blowout and couldn't change the tire because of that missing key. Would've saved me from being stranded. Friendly staff, mystery oil change, phantom rotation.

He walked me through the difference between a refurbished and new battery and I chose the refurbished option which came with a one year warranty. Unfortunately the battery failed shortly after but never in my life have I experienced customer service like this. They offered to pick up my car and drop off a loaner. That alone is exceptional. And lied about least getting me a used turbo. A few months ago I took my 2018 for focus RS here for some electrical diagnostics. ONLY diagnostics. Background: I was having issues with the O2 sensor giving a random voltage and took it to many mechanics who have changed the sensor many times. Having taken it here, just based on their "good reviews" I wanted to see if there were l was an issue perhaps in the harness. They took my car and as I was trying to explain prior diag I had done, they brushed it off and tried to get me going. Forward to a few days later and I finally get a response saying they wanted to do further diagnostics and needed to move parts as the engine bay was fairly tight. Fast forward a free days they were unable to find anything and were rushing for me to pay and leave with the car. Immediately the car sounds funny, and they said "might be a boost leak" wasn't leaking before, so why would you all just fix it then... I ended up taking to a proper shop and that's when they had found a screw driver jammed into the turbine and destroyed my recently rebuilt turbo. I immediately go to their shop and demand they pay for the repair, because obviously. The owner comes to talk to me like some sketchy sales man and say "tell you what you remind me of my son, and I feel bad for you ... Even though it wasn't our fault I will find you a used turbo." My new turbo... And you want to give me a used one? After some back and forth and more frustration I asked to simply be paid the price for what a used one would cost which he says shouldn't be more than $300, he refuses says he'll find one. I…read moremade an appointment the evening before, and they were able to service me first thing in the morning to help get the AC in my car working again. The waiting room and what I saw of the service bay was very clean. I talked to Atrak (who I believe is the Manager based on other reviews and his name sounds like he belongs in a Fast & Furious movie, which rules,) and he showed me what they did to my car and gave me suggestions on what else I could do to improve the AC. I specifically chose the word SUGGEST because nobody tried to pressure me to do anything. I drive an old Honda that runs great despite 170k miles and I have no real interest investing a lot of money aside from basic maintenance and it was refreshing not having to explain that repeatedly just to get out of there. The price I was quoted was the price they charged me, which was also very nice. Obviously a quote can change depending on the circumstance but for this particular case it was the same. Everyone I talked to or even walked past all gave a smile and asked how I was doing. Very friendly atmosphere. Long story short: Nice place that can be easily overlooked given the area. I'll be back to ask them if they can see what other basic low cost maintenance things can be done to keep my Honda running another 50k miles.
