I am amazed at the negative ratings here. I was a patient there today and throughout the entire process it was a great experience. From the pre-admission process, to the prep and procedure, every aspect was perfectly handled. All the staff I interacted with were beyond professional and very friendly and warm. Every question I had was patiently answered, and there was nothing that was too much effort. If I only come back to Hyde Park Surgery Center in the future for things like this, I will be a happy camper. Big (HUGE) kudos to Zoe, Marina, Jenny who did the intake/aftercare, procedure nurse and nurse anesthetist respectively. They are amazing women who kept an old gal comfortable and smiling throughout. Very clean and they are extremely organized. I have had a few surgeries there and everything runs on time. They send out detailed instructions a few days before surgery and do a second email day before and call you too. Very easy process and great care. read more

Went in for surgery and the prep made me uncomfortable. The nurse next to me was asking the patient on the other side of the curtain a series of routine questions that my nurse either failed to ask me or heard the other nurse ask and then said "oh yeah" and would ask me the question. Surgically, everything went fine, luckily, however it's been 6 months and Hyde Park is still billing me for an outrageous amount that my insurance company covered. I've had two conference phone calls with Hyde Park and BCBS to try and resolve this - BCBS explaining that I have no financial responsibility in the matter. Fingers crossed this second call worked and I don't get another bill in the mail next month. read more

Communication is KEY to a patient and caregiver/driver! We were supposed to have been contacted by the facility to give us pertinent info regarding price, money required, location, arrival time, and instructions for day of procedure. We were not contacted by the facility at all. We had to initiate phone calls and communication regarding all info. Also the info below was NEVER communicated to us. We found out on the day of procedure. Useful info for patient and driver 1. This info needs to be given to the patient before arrival. 2. Only the patient is allowed in the facility 3. There's no place for driver to wait except in the car. Since we live 50 miles away, going home to wait was not an option. 4. There's no restroom facility the driver can use within several miles of the facility. 5. Parking is VERY LIMITED, especially if you leave (to use the restroom, or whatever) and come back. read more

Don't go here if you can avoid it. The nurses and on-site staff when you are processed for surgery are great. The admin staff, however, are complete buffoons. They lie, obfuscate, foul up billing, and screw up just about everything they touch. They'll overcharge you, try to cover it up, and it takes up to a year to get your money back. They'll demand information from you and then it goes into a black hole and they start sending "get it to us ASAP or we'll cancel your surgery" texts and emails. They made such a demand of me, claiming they never received my data when in fact they had passed it onto the surgeon's office 72 hrs previously as confirmed by the surgeon's office. Plain and simple: stay away or otherwise you'll regret it. Incompetent and false narratives are their world. read more

My mom was scheduled for surgery here after unfortunately breaking her wrist and Patrice Stamatis was her assigned pre op nurse. My mom's veins are smaller and require a different type of needle than what is normally used. She informed Patrice what would be needed to be able to insert the iv, and unfortunately Patrice ignored and continued to force the regular needle while squeezing her hand causing blood to spray out from the vein causing my mom major pain. My mom was sitting in the room crying from the mistreatment. This place should NEVER have someone working with patients that doesn't want to listen or care for the people in their care. She also didn't notify the designated driver which was my mom's fiancé that she was out of surgery and being discharged so he could be able to pick her up. I recently paid off the outstanding balance for my husband's account. The payment was made on Jan 28, 2021 and came out of my checking account immediately. I did not receive any receipt. I subsequently called and was informed that the payment had not yet posted. I followed up on Feb 1 and unbelievably, they are still showing no credit for the payment that I made to his account. I have made many medical payments with other vendors online and the receipts are sent immediately after payment. I don't know what this facility's issue is, but this is inconvenient and unacceptable. read more

I had surgery here in January....here is why I would not use this surgery center again, nor recommend it to anyone: 1- The nurses don't listen to you at all, they have a procedure, and don't care about your input (even if you've had multiple surgeries before, like me, and know what your talking about). They would rather sick to the procedure rigidly and treat every patient exactly the same. Their procedure is to start an IV in your hand, even if you have very small veins in your hand and request that they start it elsewhere. After missing, they still push fluid, this means you have a blown blood vessel and an even bigger and more bruised hand. (This was great since I was having surgery on my other hand, so both were out of commission for about a week) 2- Their nurses need ALOT more IV training, they missed twice, gave up, and had the anesthesia MD put my third IV in. Also, they tried my second IV without wearing gloves, a BIG NO NO. They also left the needle and all the gauze etc on the bed when they left to get the doctor, I nearly stabbed myself with in since I didn't see it there in the sheets. 3- The administrator of the facility is just as bad if not worse than anyone else there, she definitely will NOT listen to your concerns and does not care about patient's rights. 4- The doctors associated with this facility (and who make money off it) say they know there is a problem with the nurses, and yet, they obviously haven't done anything about it. So.....until they TRAIN their nurses and treat patients like INDIVIDUALS...I won't be seen there again. Healthcare has really gone down the drain, and this facility is just another example of that. read more

A great experience for an unfortunate experience. My first surgery and they were so patient, helpful, informative and genuinely nice. The nurses were great, upbeat, positive ladies who seemed to really want to make me feel comfortable physically and psychologically. The place is spotless and gives the image of professionalism, you will feel so much more at ease than in a hospital. This might be the worst quote and worst customer service we have ever received. My husband was scheduled for an upcoming surgery and we are currently self pay. After receiving quotes from the Doctor and the Anesthesiologist, we were set for a final number. For a two hour surgery, Hyde Park wanted over $9000 for the surgery, and $4500 to secure the spot. I simply cannot believe it. Thinking I wrote it down wrong, I called...only to be told that number was correct and it was because we are self pay. This is clearly discrimination. I get a different price that someone else? Why? I could send my child to one year of college for what they wanted for two hours. Very bad business, horrible ethics...or should I say NO ethics. read more

I felt as though I was in a hotel and was treated like a VIP. The staff, everyone from the administrators, to the nurses, to the surgeon and so forth, was kind, concerned, personable, knowledgeable and efficient. Waiting for my turn I was seated in the most comfortable chair ever, it seemed like it was designed for people with my type of pain. I loved the cozy socks matched the hospital gowns (a silly thing, but it made it kind of special). I have had 9 of these type of procedures done this year, so the little things that make you comfortable or show that you are a person not a number, really and truly helped me feel better. I was delighted with the service I received at Hyde Park. Check in was fast and efficient. All of the nurses I dealt with were kind, thoughtful, and had an excellent bedside manner. Once you are prepped, they bring you a blanket from the blanket warmer and offer you another if needed. Everyone was very sensitive post-op in regard to my pain and desire to change before inviting my ride back to the room. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. read more

The nurses, staff, and facility was great but the accounting office was very disappointing. I left them my credit card information twice and it was never processed. Next thing I know, I am getting phone calls from collection agencies. I finally paid on their web site but didn't receive a confirmation email. Not sure how to resolve it. read more

The center is fine for outpatient surgery. My complaint as someone accompanying a patient is that they offer wifi (plus) but then block most of the sites you'd want to be on the pass the time while you wait. What's the point? They're obviously doing this to keep their employees off Facebook (as if they just access it on their smart phones), but do they realize it annoys the patients/guests? It does. read more

Hyde Park staff was polite and friendly however, on my surgery day the nurses (yes over 4 nurses) stuck me over 5 times digging in my veins trying to find an IV spot. They had to put me under screaming with gas and stuck me another 10 times. The next time I had to get an IV at another place I almost had an anxiety attack, but that ER nurse easily found a vein and said it was ridiculous that this staff could not. Not only did the staff mess up my IV, the accounting staff sent me a bill for nearly 6 times the quote I was provided originally and they refused to work with me!!! On top of all of this, while I was contesting the bill and in negotiations with their office, they sent my account to collections without any notification. I urge you to think twice before using this surgery center. read more

Do not go here for anything! They ask for money before they provide Service. then over charge you and refuse to give you a refund. I've been trying for months to get them to refund the $200 they over charged and they will not even return my phone call. As a retired surgical nurse with decades of experience, this primarily orthopedic ambulatory surgery center is one of THE best in Austin and the surrounding burbs. I can vouch for filthy surgical suites in other centers. You could eat off the floor in any area of HPSC - pre-op, OR, and PACU. Please disregard one of the earlier posts. Some patients have hard to hit veins. It is not as if the RN is trying to stick you more than once. Veins happen! The staff is exceptional from the minute you enter the center. It is so apparent the staff are more like family. They care about you not only as their patient but treat you like you are one of their own. Concern, privacy, explanations, follow up phone calls are all in order at this surgery center. The OR crew is exceptional - ALL of them! Why would you go anywhere else, if you had to have surgery, other than Hyde Park Surgery Center? read more

I had bunion surgery and it went well. Everyone was nice and the facility was clean. The billing on the other hand leaves something to be desired. I know healthcare can have large outstanding AR, but they make you pay up front, in full, with insurance. Then they don't submit your claim that you have already paid for in full until close to 3 weeks after your service and then it takes 60 days for them to receive payment from insurance. So if you overpay or meet your deductible in those almost 90 days you have to wait for reimbursement. I wonder if it's illegal to over collect on healthcare and hold funds for so long. read more

I had ankle surgery here four months ago, and the experience was great. All the nurses were wonderful. The place was nice and super clean. I was pretty doped up for most of the time I was there, but my mom was there with me, and she really liked the place:) I highly recommend it. read more
