It offers dine-in and carry-out options. We chose to dine in, and I was excited to try the biryani. There are tons of options to customize your biryani or even dosa. There are North Indian options as well. My wife had the uthapam, which she found to be tasty. The ambiance is simple, with each table having water bottles ready. There is the quintessential tv that seems to be playing Bollywood music videos and film dance scenes on repeat. All in all, 9.5/10. Tasty and nicely spiced food. This is one of my new favorite Indian spots. The chicken tikka masala was spicy, creamy, and chicken was tender and juicy. The garlic naan was amazing as well. Service was very polite and fast. People seem happy to work there. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice. No loud music, and even though it was busy for dinner it wasn't too loud. In Indian and Thai restaurants in Indiana, they have the following scale of spiciness: not spicy, little spicy, spicy, extra spicy, Indian/Thai spicy. The reason is simple: Hoosiers in Hoosierland cannot take spicy. Even the ones who ask for "extra spicy" have no idea what spicy is, so Indian/Thai restaurant owners think they are joking and treat their order accordingly. Unless you use the code words: "Indian spicy" or "Thai spicy". That's how the owners know that you are not messing around and are serious as a mofo. I used the code words "Indian spicy". The Indian dude behind the counter gave a mischievous smile when I uttered the code words. I thought he took it as a challenge and my GI would hate me tomorrow (but my taste buds would thank me today). Instead, the dish arrived "white boy spicy", at best. They did not honor the sacred code words "Indian spicy". They thought this yellow boy had the palate of a cornfed white boy and gave me white boy spicy instead of Indian spicy. Shame. read more

Normally order from the Castleton location and absolutely love it, but I was passing through the Michigan Road area and decided to try here for the first time. Atmosphere: My partner and I always order carry out since biryani takes 45 minutes, but if you're looking for a dine-in experience, the Castleton location has better ambiance. Vijayawada (Boneless Chicken) Biryani: flavorful, but my "medium spicy" was incredibly mild. Probably should have ordered "extra spicy" to achieve the same effect as the Castleton location's "medium spicy." I did appreciate the garnish of red onion and the lime slice that I've not seen from Castleton. As always, the yoghurt and peanut sauces that come with the biryani is delicious. Garlic naan: my partner and I agreed Michigan Road has better garlic naan--perhaps some of the best naan I've had in the city! Light and fluffy. Samosas: seem standard across both locations and are always delicious! Crispy outside with a mouthful of flavor in every bite. I could put the dipping sauce on everything. Staff were very kind when picking up my order and even threw in a few free gulab jamun! Overall will continue to order from this location when it's more convenient, but will have to find the right spice level to match Castleton. read more

BEST. BIRYANI. EVER. I'm not exaggerating when I say this but they have the most flavorful and worth the price biryanis here. My sister went ahead and picked up the Vijayawada Special Chicken Biryani for me and the Spicy Paneer Biryani for herself. They also provide a Saalan and Raita along with every Biryani. If you get their family pack, you get an appetizer and dessert with it! Really go try it, you won't be disappointed. First time visiting. Stopped in for the lunch buffet. The restaurant is bright and has plenty of seating. The buffet has a good amount of choices to pick from and the food is fresh and hot. Changing my previous 3 star to 5 stars after my second visit. I'll rank the dishes I had today: 1. Lamb Korma (spicy) 2. Lamb Korma (medium) 3. Butter Chicken 4. Cashew Chicken 5. Lollipop Chicken 6. Chicken Saag I also had a sweet mango lassi and naan. But these to items are pretty standard and in my experience taste pretty much the same wherever you go. I thought the lollipop chicken and chicken saag were a little bland. The Michigan Rd Hyderabad House location's benchmark for what is "spicy" is much lower than the spice level at Castleton Corner. Michigan Rd's spice level is more in line with what the average person expects, while Castleton Corner's default medium is like Michigan Rd's "spicy". Michigan Rd doesn't offer much of a dining experience. It's more like a strip mall experience a few booths/tables. I'd rather get carry out there. Castleton Corner is a place you'd take the family for a special occasion. Castleton also has way more seating, is always super busy with long wait times, and they always have way more cakes available. I believe the prices are the same at both locations. I feel like it is justified at Castleton Corner given the full on dining experience. On the other hand, Michigan Rd has my favorite item on the menu while Castleton doesn't: lamb korma. Overall, it's not 5 stars because of the cost. This order was $110. But the carry out containers do a fantastic job of keeping it fresh in the fridge (the lids snap tightly and they don't use cardboard boxes for the rice like many Indian places do). You're kidding right? If this isn't some of the most flavorful, freshest, best prepared Indian food you've put in your mouth south of Chicago, then I don't know what to tell you. This place passes the first test, which is that it appears to be very popular with the local Indian community. We were some of the very few non-Indian customers, and that's a great thing! Next might be environment. It's a little strip mall box store, so aesthetics aren't great. But cleanliness is. Everything was clean and organized and presented as best they could manage. Finally is the taste. And the taste was lightyears past any other Indian around the area. Every single dish had a good mix of flavors and spices and character. The chili baby corns were a personal favorite. But everything I tried was great. I'd highly recommend giving this place a try. read more

The paneer dosa (a crepe stuffed with cheese) was delicious, and it came with a coconut chutney condiment (coconut is very anti-virus and great for gut health). I wanted to buy some bottled water, but the manager basically said don't worry about paying for it. So, I left a generous tip. read more

We were visiting out of state and went to eat here two nights in a row - it is that good. Between the two nights, we had goat biryani, fish fry, gongura mutton curry, chicken 65 and garlic naans. We went to eat on Easter and when we ordered our food, we waited for literally 1 HR and a half and they never even gave us our exact orders. My dad also ordered some Naan's that they'd completely forgot about. They also never gave us our receipts to know exactly how much food we ordered and if it was exactly what we ordered. This is an excellent Indian restaurant with dishes from regions in India that you don't see elsewhere. But you need to know post covid that it is now what they are calling self-service. They no longer have servers or even china plates. Most of the tables are gone. You can eat there but your food comes out packed for carryout. They will give you a paper plate and plastic utensils, but the food is in containers in a bag. There's not a thing wrong with this as long as you know what to expect. So, after 3 tries of this place I decided to review it. Chicken tikka masala is my comfort food, and I've dined in here once and carried out twice. It's super close to my house so I want to love it, but I just don't. My order is always medium hot tikka masala and an order of garlic naan. The naan is always great, but the tikka just leaves something to be desired. Spice level is inconsistent , last time it tasted like they hadn't used any salt at all. I probably won't be back after calling for carry out and being told it would be 30 minutes (at 5 o clock? Strange but ok) and then my food wasn't ready until 45 minutes later. I have been eating here often for about 2 years now. The food is very authentic & pretty consistent. This restaurant serves food from southern part of India. The Indian southern cuisine is ruled by aromatic spices, rich flavors & quite a bit of the spicy heat. Coconut & rice dominate the dishes - as these are extensively cultivated in southern India. Be adventurous & try more than the usual Samosa & Chicken Tikka Masala! They serve awesome Dosas - A fermented rice & lentil crepe dish, with a side of sambhar curry as dip & mildly spiced potatoes & chutney. The trick is to eat it the right way & the staff are very friendly & are more than happy to help with suggestions. If you are new to cuisine from southern India - I would strongly recommend their Sunday Buffet Lunch - where you can sample a bit of everything they have to offer! Do not miss out on the Biryani - Dum(steam cooked) basmati rice, fragrant with delicious spices & meat or even vegetables! And remember to hit the buffet around 12ish noon, as it can get pretty packed. All in all a solid 5 just for the authentic food. The only positive from my experience was that I was told my meal would be complimentary and the chicken tikka masala was decent. The wait time, customer service, and 2 changes on my card for different amounts (with corresponding refunds) is unacceptable. I placed my order by phone at 6:20pm (because online ordering kept giving me errors), arrived at 6:40, finally left with my order at 8pm. The man behind the counter kept telling people 20, 15, 10, and 2 mins, but it was never that. He told me 2 mins, then it took about another 30. After I had waited over an hr, the employee asked if I'd rather butter chicken, I told him I ordered tikka masala. He rudely told me "I know what you ordered" then asked again if I wanted butter chicken. I asked if they have tikka masala, he said yes but it would be longer. I told him to cancel the order. He told me I couldn't cancel it. I asked how long it would be, he smiled, nodded, then answered his cell phone. When another man called the employee out for saying "2 mins" for his order then admitting that it would really be 15 mins, then admitting that he couldn't actually say how long it would be for his order, the response from the employee was to drag me into it by saying I'd been waiting just as long. My response was that I wasn't happy, I was furious. The other man asked to cancel his order and was told he'd have to cancel online since he placed it online. However there was no place to cancel online so he had to continue waiting, because he had already paid online. An Uber eats driver came during that time and was told that either the order was cancelled because it had been 20 mins or that it would be another 20 mins until it was ready, then the employee walked into the kitchen without clarification or explaination. The Uber driver had to call his customer to say he wasn't sure what was going on with the order. The previous man ended up calling the owner to inform him about what was happening, I left before that conversation ended. My background is public relations and human resources. I don't leave bad reviews, because I understand the impact that they can have on a business and sometimes people just have a bad day. I have never had such an overwhelming bad customer service experience. I will never eat here again. And you cannot blame the wait and customer service on covid.
