Ate here years ago when they first opened and came back to try their Thursday evening buffet. Service was great, and everyone was very nice. Lots of options, but wish the food was warmer. The food was okay, not the best Indian buffet I've had. It was good for $20, but probably would not crave it. Lots of seating inside, and they make fresh dosa. There's a free parking lot right in front of the restaurant.

I've been to Bawarchi in Indianapolis a few times now and have tried a good mix of their dishes. The place has plenty of seating and the service has always been fast. The Vijayawada Chicken 65 Biryani was really good. It has great flavor, though the chicken quantity felt a bit less compared to the rice. Their salt & sweet lime soda was also nice and refreshing. On another visit, we tried both the veg and non-veg thalis. They were decent, not amazing, but good enough. The portions were huge. Honestly, they could reduce the biryani rice in the thalis and just offer refills to avoid food waste. My absolute favorite here is the juicy chicken mandi. I've tried mandi at a few places in the US, and this is one of the best I've had. The chicken is flavorful, the portion is great, and the rice is super aromatic. It comes with yogurt sauce, curry sauce, mayo, and veggies. It's only available on weekends, but it's definitely worth it. Overall, solid service and some standout dishes. I'd definitely come back for the Mandi.

We absolutely love this place! My fiance and I loveeee Indian food. We have tried 7 restaurants in Indiana and this is our new favorite spot! Everything is absolutely delicious and they have a nice spice level to their food. Dosa is one of our favorites. Along with spinach saag and byriani. Highly recommend. Service is great and the restaurant is cute.

Must try!! Service is good! Food is delicious. We dined in on a Sunday with no wait time. The restaurant does get very busy, so pick your times strategically. We ordered the famous dosa 70 and it was so amazing and a great experience for our first time there! I can't wait to bring more people here to eat and enjoy the atmosphere. The Gobi 65 is okay, I would prefer it not fried. Lamb pepper roast is good, but watch it, it's spicy like it states ! I love the navratan korma here and my husband enjoyed the goat biryani. For desert we had the Falooda (rose) and what a delight ! Watch out for a surprise through your straw! Definitely recommend! Dishes are perfect portion sizes and temperature. Tip: Don't order takeout on a Saturday night, they can not keep up with the orders. I did not get my favorite navratan and I was so sad.

Absolutely phenomenal. Food was SO good! Service was quick. The team was polite. I wish they had a lunch buffet or I'd be more often. The only thing to keep in mind is they don't ask you what spice level you want (mild, medium, hot) so you'll be subject to authentic level spices. A good problem to have, but a warning for those that don't do well with heavy spices!

From top to bottom: Paneer Tikka Masala ($15.49), Chana Palak ($13.99), Dal Makhani ($13.99).

Alright! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and portion of the dinner entrees here. The Dal Makhani ($13.99) was, Chana Palak ($13.99), and Paneer Tikka Masala ($15.49) were all medium spicy as ordered - yes, actually legitimately medium spicy. At some Indian restaurants, "medium spicy" equates to "not spicy" to the cooks, but thankfully not here. Although the Garlic Naan ($4.99) seems all-the-money, so to speak - it is spot-on fresh and well-topped. The Basmati Rice (complimentary per entree) was fine and as expected. Service was quite attentive and pleasant, and the restaurant itself and cups, plates, silverware, etc. were very clean. My *main criticism* involves the severe lack of ambiance awareness by the management. Worst of all is the set of way-too-bright ring LED light fixtures blazing away high up in the middle of the restaurant. A truly awful design decision by the management - you cannot look up at them for more than a second without feeling like you're burning your eyes out. Also, there were no less than 8 televisions playing SpongeBob Squarepants (on mute) and Shark Tank was on the main bar TV - with the sound actually on and blasting through the restaurant. Needless to say - a pretty bad place to bring a date, if you're looking to do so. As the light fixtures are set now, you actually need sunglasses if you were to choose to dine in. Also, their booths are a bit tight - and I am not a big person. I personally can't stand booths - except for the semi-circular variety you might see at a classic supper club. Those are fine. But conventional 90-degree booths are a way for restaurants to jam in as many customers regardless of comfort... and there is no standard for the pitch and depth of booths.

Had a great time with a group of friends here for Sunday lunch. Everyone working here were friendly and nice. Walking in, there is no one greeting you at the entrance, so we walked right, and there is a large hall there - I think that's just for large group reservations. So we walked left, and there is another door where the restaurant is, and there were people there to help us find seats, etc. Masala Lollipop chicken: This one wasn't quite what I was expecting as a "street food" they described. It was good, but I probably won't order it again. I thought it tasted more like gochujang based flavor than masala, and there was a LOT of sauce, so the chicken wasn't as crispy as it could have been. But this is the first time I've tried this dish and I have no point of comparison. Goat curry: I think it was the curry that we got? It might have been the tikka masala. I can't believe I don't remember what we got. It was goat. And it was good. Great! Very yummy. Thinking back, I think it was more the tikka masala than the curry. Would I go back? absolutely. It was just a great experience overall.

Wow! This place has a lot on the menu and we wanted to try everything. Everything was so delicious, good portions and the service was very attentive. They didn't have any veg curries that day so I'll definitely have to go back! I recommend getting mutton biryani and the parotta was so flaky and perfect. Definitely recommend! Place is also very clean and welcoming with a lot of seating.

I ordered takeout and when I got home I saw that the "steamed" momos were burnt to a crisp and dried out. I also ordered masala noodles and it was literally just spaghetti with a sweet tomato sauce. Absolutely no masala flavor, and the fact that they used regular spaghetti noodles was baffling and unappetizing. I called the restaurant and the person on the phone said "yeah there is a problem with the steamer, we will replace them". I asked why they would look at this burnt appetizer and still send it, because that feels super dishonest- they knew it was inedible but because it was a takeout order, they decided to serve it anyways. He couldn't answer that. They told me to bring the momos back and they'd replace them. I said no, I've just worked 13 hours and will not be driving another 20 minutes to go back to their restaurant. I'd like a refund. He said that's not possible and offered to give me a free meal next time we came in. I said there will not be a next time as their dishonesty was seriously off-putting and I'd like a refund and again he said that's not possible. I'm attaching their advertised photos of the 2 dishes I ordered and also pictures of what they served me.

Idk if the ambiance has ever been great here as its inside is not pretty & the bathroom is very gross & never clean. The 2 orders of Chicken Makhani I received today tasted so strongly of WAY too much ghee to where I couldn't even taste anything else. It was lacking proper flavor & the chicken was very, very dry and tasted old. Super disappointing. I send people to this place allllll the time, but not anymore. The raita was the absolute worst part of my meal. I paid $5 extra for 2 things of raita & had to throw both away because they were SO bad! I don't know why, but it was so excessively full of black pepper that I honestly almost puked. Not only that, it tasted very, VERY strongly of green pepper. Raita is NEVER supposed to have green pepper & I honestly couldn't tell if that was the issue or if it was actually expired/rotten. I was super excited for this food & it was so incredibly disappointing especially because it wasn't cheap...huge decline in food quality & definitely not worth the price.

Yes there is water from a water cooler, BUT with teeny tiny cups that are maybe 3 inches tall. You can get some other drinks such as specialty drinks or canned/bottled things from the fridge. On the other hand, despite being a carnivore, I thoroughly enjoyed the food here. For starters I had the hot and sour soup... yeah I know, not exactly Indian, but Indo-chino. It was different than expected, but very good. Actually a bit spicy and seemed to have ginger pieces in it along with a lot of unindentifible things and absolutely delicious. I tried the Bhaji Pav, which is ... well I really have no idea, but it comes with a large dish of goodness, seems to maybe have lentils or chickpeas in it. It's pureed and has a wonderful spice combination, maybe a hint of curry, but not spicy at all. Comes with finely chopped onions, a lime wedge and 2 soft buttered buns. I would definitely order this again. The most impressive looking dish was the Thali, basically a sampler dish, which has naan, a savory yoghurt based drink, several cups of various dishes and even a little dessert. I might get that next time to explore more of the options here. And as I already mentioned, the staff is very sweet and patiently explained the different dishes to my group. With 8 of us not having any clue, I have to say, this lady had the patience of a a saint.

Gift Certificates Refused Despite Clear Written Terms…read more I purchased gift certificates from Honest Indian Restaurant that were valid through December 26. The written terms specifically listed December 24 and December 25, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as holiday exclusions. December 23 was not listed as one of the excluded holidays, and the terms did not state that the entire surrounding week would be excluded. On December 23, my family and I attempted to use the certificates and were informed they would not be accepted because the restaurant considered the entire week to be a holiday period. The matter was escalated to the manager, who upheld the decision not to accept the certificates. After driving over an hour with my entire family, we were unable to use gift certificates that had already been purchased under the written terms provided at the time of sale. As a result, I lost the value of the certificates despite attempting to use them on a date that was not listed as an excluded holiday. Based on this experience, I will not return and cannot recommend this business.

Both takeout orders took around 40 minutes for just two items, while dine-in customers who ordered after me were served first. I also found it odd that some menu items only include fries if you dine in. If a meal is advertised at a certain price with fries included, I think takeout customers should receive the same meal they're paying for. Overall, I'd recommend this spot if you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere and aren't in a hurry. If you're stopping in just to grab food to go, be prepared for a wait.
