I am hesitant to share this review because I don't want this restaurant to get so busy. My husband and I lived in Hong Kong for a bunch of years and during that time we were able to enjoy incredible Indian food. Hyderabad House Is, perhaps, the best Indian food I've had in the states. They have several specialist chefs in the kitchen. The pastry and bread chef created flaky Samosa dough that was fried to perfection. The potato and pea filling inside had layered spice flavors with it that made it incredible to eat all on its own. The 2 sauces with it, however, added other layers of flavor and a little bit of zip. The green chutney had a brightness and a yogurt cooling to it, and then finished with a little bit of a zip, while the tamarind, a well used item in Hyderabad, Offered a sweet sour foil to the samosas' savoriness. Bill and I ordered a roti and a chapati - Both wheat based breads fired in the tandoor. Both breads were soft, chewy, and with little bits of crisp from the sides of the oven where they touched. I ordered lamb Rogan Josh, probably my favorite dish in Hong Kong. This dish was on par with that and I took a nostalgic trip back home. First, the portion size is substantial. I ate half of it and still have another meal waiting for me for tomorrow. The price of $18 for the entrée pairs down to 9.50. Succulent, tender chunks of lamb sat in a deep tomatoy, vinegary, spiced sauce. The richness and depth of the sauce made the accompanying bread perfect to the pallet. My mouth was a little a buzz, but not so much that I couldn't taste every nuanced flavor. It was served with the longest grain rice. I think I have ever seen - A high grade basmati. Bill ordered a house special biryani, and ordered it spicy. The Biryanis are made by a dedicated chef. Again, the portion size allowed him to bring home half of it to enjoy tomorrow.. Rice combined with fragrant spices and spicy coated chunks of chicken filled his plate. The accompanying slices of red onion, and the lime to squeeze on it, added flavor and brightness to the dish. The dish arrived also with a small cup of the house, raita. A word about the raita and the desserts. The specialist chef in the kitchen who works with all of the dairy products, makes his yogurt daily and makes his own milk desserts daily as well. I have not had a perfect Indian kheer (rice pudding with v cardamom and cashews) Since I've moved from Hong Kong. The secret is starting with high-quality milk and slow cooking it for a long time until it condenses down and then the rice creates a pudding feel. Cardamom And a touch of sugar create the perfect balance of a dessert. It takes away all the heat in your mouth and leaves you feeling like you just have the richest milk of your life. Of course many People would go straight for the mango kulfi, And I'm sure it's a great frozen treat. However, the kesar malai kulfi (pistachio, rose water, cardamom, ice cream) to me, is superior. It comes on a stick like a popsicle, but it is also that cooked down, condensed, naturally sweet creamy milk that is infused with all of those flavors and again it is so rich, tasting and pallet cleansing that you don't wanna share it. I was intrigued by several of the milkshake offerings they have for the summer as again the dairy chef has created all of them with his own dairy products and some interesting and innovative fruits that most people don't associate with milkshakes. There is no doubt that this will become a favorite frequent place for both my husband and I. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic about their food, which they have every right to be. When we left the restaurant, there were several other tables filled with Indian people, Providing a silent stamp of approval for the authenticity of this place. We also caught a whiff of a tandoori dish as we left And I've already made up my mind. That's what I'm going to have when we return. A small, hidden gem. We finally got to check this place out and we were thrilled! The atmosphere was great and the service was top notch. They were always there when we needed them. My family and I frequent this spot for some of the best Indian food in Omaha! And being homebodies, we typically order takeout. That being said, their to go service is phenomenal. The order is typically ready before the estimated time, so be sure to head there quickly to make sure you can pick up your food fresh. Being vegetarian, I've tried a few different dishes here, and I've always been impressed with the amount of flavor and variety that they offer. Paneer Kadai has been a top favorite of mine due to just how rich it is in spices. Frankly, I don't even have the vocabulary to explain and the menu simply says exotic spices, so I'm not sure what it is in here that makes it so memorable ... but I crave it regularly. Recently, I decided to try another dish - the paneer tikka masala. Of course, this is tomato-based, and while it did not have the same level of 'Exotic spices' oh, it warmed me from the inside our and had no shortage of paneer! I'd recommend a tikka masala to someone that isn't as familiar with Indian spices and wants to get started with something simple. Oh, my family, and I always order the garlic naan, and absolutely love it! If you are going all out, be sure to order a dessert for the experience. The textures are unique in each one that I've tried, and the flavors are usually mild. I personally enjoyed the rasmalai, but take a look at the options and see which one peaks your interest! This was seriously the best reasonably priced Indian food I've ever had. The atmosphere was modern and pleasant and appeared to be very clean. The service was excellent. Everything was delivered on modern looking china and the servings were very generous. We had the mulligatawani soup and naan bread buttered and garlic. They were both delicious. The soup seriously could have been shared between 2 people. We chose a vegetarian dish and a meat dish. One was Gutti Vankaya curry (small eggplant) and the non vegetarian was chicken tikka masala. You could just taste the depth of flavors and spices and the chicken was very tender tandoori. So delicious. It was served with a very generous portion of rice that we each got a bowl of. No need to ask for more rice. We brought enough home for each of us to have 1-2 meals for leftovers. We will go there again and again. This is probably some of the best Indian food I've had in Omaha. Every person I dined with thought the food was incredible. The service, however, was somewhat lacking. All of the entrees came out at different times, which meant some people in the party felt awkward staring to eat before others. Solid four star Great food! Excellent cooking, creamy rich sauces with tender yet not mushy meats and paneer. Naan was cooked perfectly with crispy bubbles and had that slightly chewy bite to it. Haaka noodles were amazing with a very rich flavor and firm noodles. Service could be a little more warm and it could be a little cleaner as our wall had visible bugs or food on it. The food here is way better than it was when this place was Tanduri Fusion! And the atmosphere isn't so dark anymore. Much less bar-like. My friend and I tried a few items, all good. The ghee roast dosa was huge and very tasty. The chutneys that came with it were both good, but the (temperature) hot one is also very spicy. The dosa itself was a tad thinner than I prefer but had good lentil flavor. The vada were very hot when they came out but had way too many onions IMO. Especially noticeable because the onions were basically raw inside the dough. But the batter itself tasted flavorful and wasn't too oily. The butter chicken was delish! The mild heat level had a kick to it still, but wasn't overwhelming. The chicken chunks were tender and the gravy was equal parts bright and earthy...hard to achieve this balance. Plenty of basmati rice came with the dish too. I had leftovers. The service wasn't great, hence the 4 stars. There was only one guy working as a server and the takeout person so he was very busy. It wasn't all his fault, they should have scheduled another worker. But even so, he moved slowly and had no sense of urgency. Ordered Safed Maas - "Pieces of lamb capped in an almond yogurt ginger and cardamom." Got home, container was labeled "Safed Madras Lamb." It looked like a spicy masala, tasted like a spicy masala, certainly had no hint of yogurt, almond, or ginger - and instead had multiple pieces of spicy red hot chilies. I can't handle spicy Indian anymore, so my wife called about it. The person on the phone insisted the order was correct, because he "looked at it," and the chef supposedly just "wrote the wrong thing." I've had Safed Maas many times (but never here). It's not spicy, and definitely almond flavored, with a rich white-colored yogurt sauce. This was NOT that (pictures attached). Furthermore, I don't appreciate my wife being lied to, as if we were ignorant about Indian food. The right thing to do would have been to offer to make it right on our next visit. Been here twice for dinner and twice for lunch buffet. Compared to the other Indian places in town, I think this place has the best tasting vegetable dishes. They are really well spiced and well fried, especially the various dishes with cauliflower. Definitely recommend trying those out. As for the lunch buffet on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it's a lot more options than any other place and there's a lot of good stuff. The vegetables are good, rice dishes are good, as are various curries which change each day. Unfortunately, the naan during the buffet isn't the best unless you are lucky enough to be able to catch it once it is cooked and placed in the warmer. Otherwise it gets dry. The chicken dishes are comparable to other places and don't stand out too much. There are lots of desserts, but they typically aren't for me. For about $15, it's a good lunch. Let me preface this review with a statement of ignorance. I am not an expert on Indian food. I don't know how authentic an Indian restaurant is. I like Indian food and I know what tastes good to me. With that said, Hyderabad Biryani House has the best biryani I have ever had. I love biryani and if I go to a restaurant that has it, I am going to try it. So, though I'm no expert, I've tried quite a few and this is easily the best in town for my money. I've only gotten the chicken fry biryani, which has bone in chicken. The chicken is delightful and the biryani is perfectly prepared. Word of warning though, it's spicy. I get it medium spicy and it will warm you up, but in the best way. I look forward to trying other things on the menu but with biryani this good, I may never stray. I've also had the vegetable samosa and the naan, both were very good. The mango lassi was a nice, sweet treat to cool down after a spicy entree. The last time I went in, they forgot to include an item in my order. When I called and went back to pick it up, they were so nice and kind. Hey, mistakes happen but they certainly made up for it. My boyfriend just told me about this place. He said he and his coworkers used to go here for lunch before Covid. I have no idea why he kept this place a secret for so long! The food was as truly amazing and had good portions. The butter chicken was sweeter than other places, but was still the highlight of the meal for me. This is my new favorite Indian restaurant in the Metro. Hands down. Not all Indian food is made equal. Hyderabadi seems like no hold barred Indian food. I have not been to India or anything, but compared to other places in Omaha, this restaurant does not hold back on spiciness and flavor, and I love it. I don't even really like their mint flavored Samosa sauce, but the fact that they pack it with strong flavors, I can appreciate that. Having said that, my wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed everything we've had. Chicken 65 is my go to and it is delicious here. Be aware, it is extremely spicy, but, wow, it was good. We have also had their Aloo Gobi, Karaikudi Goat Curry, Gutti Vankaya Curry. All of it has been good and we are encouraged to try more things. We haven't tried their namesake dish, Biryani, yet, but I have no doubt it will be delicious. PS - It is currently only take out and you have to order online, so keep that in mind. read more

Food: ordered Masala Dosa, chicken tikka masala, and ullavachara biryani. The stuffing inside the dosa (baked potato & nuts) was pretty bland. Wish I had gotten a different type. But the dosa itself and the sauces that come with it are delicious. Chicken Tikka Masala was tasty! Although the gravy was not as red & tomato based like I expected. Tikka masala comes with a side of rice. Biryani was gigantic and enough to fill 2, which I loved. Can never go wrong with good portion for the value I'm paying. Hyderabad Biryani House is a nice Indian restaurant in west Omaha that is next to Lakeside hospital. Went on a Sunday for brunch at 11 and found that it was quiet with a nice spread of Indian food. The good: free chai, more selection of indian food, the chicken tikka masala was the highlight, and fresh fruit available. Just okay: the free chai was just okay, definitely not as spiced or well done as other Indian restaurants. The top curdled after 5 minutes and was able to be removed. Overall, the food was good but I wish that more of it was described with the food labels. A lot of iit was unclear and to be honest a little too spicy. Both chicken biryanis were good but I only could eat one serving of each due to the heat. I had a large variety but overall would rate the quality lower of other Indian restaurants. I give it 4 stars due to it being my first experience and I know lots of people favor the lamb biryani. read more
