By far, one of our favorite Indian spots in Omaha. Star's garlic naan is amazing. It's so buttery, it's fluffy, and not too thin. I have several dishes that are my go tos here. My husband and I were celebrating Diwali at home this year and seeing family later... but neither of us really wanted to cook. Star came to the rescue! We ordered ahead for take out and got the Gobi 65 biryani and malai kofta. We got to the restaurant around the time given for our food to be ready. There was a little bit of a wait once we got there, but the place was pretty busy and it was a holiday - all of the staff was clearly working very hard. As we were leaving with our food, they asked us to wait to make sure we got some complimentary desserts due to it being Diwali! They gave us a box of some Jalebi. Thank you, Star! The food was so good! Neither of us had had the gobi 65 biryani before and it was delicious. I loved the huge chunks of cooked cauliflower 65! The malai kofta was tasty as well - the kofta were nice and soft and the gravy was creamy and rich. The Jalebi were thick and juicy! For Diwali, we picked up some takeout dinner from Star India. Growing up in an Indian household where homemade Indian food was the norm, I was very impressed with the quality of Star. My fiancé and I just received this nice delivery from one of his friends who is overseas. We have never tried or had Indian food before so this was a first and let me just say so far it is delicious. Of course we still have to take a few more bites since this amazing cuisine was delivered at 9pm way past our dinner time, so this review will get an update soon. Update! 10/10!!!! We ordered veg noodles and chicken noodles. The food was not good at all. The chicken noodles was too salty may be they put the salt twice. Just had to trash that. While placing the order I mentioned them that my kid will eat the chicken noodle, so please be extra careful! But they just put too much salt randomly!!! Star is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha. Each time I have ever gone, the service is some of the best I have ever had. The food is absolutely incredible! Sadly, it was not a buffet day, as I heard their buffet is outstanding. But, we were really impressed with the food and service in the restaurant. Prices: Good, moderately priced restaurant (prices at Omaha restaurants are going up a lot, but Star Indian has held steady) Appetizers: We started with veggie samosas and an aloo patika (spelling?). Both were great, and their chutney and raita complemented both perfectly. (A) Food: Plenty of it. My wife and I both got our favorite - chicken tikka masala. I know, it's not incredibly adventurous, but it is our favorite. Plenty of chicken and the sauce is just so-good! (A+) Service: Unlike most places, they border on being excessive in visits to the table. Our glasses and chutney bowls were never more than half empty. Ambiance: It is a nicely decorated location. A Bollywood movie was on the one TV over the bar area. Their decor is very tasteful and just a room to serve their food. The restaurant was full, but it was not loud. Naan - I almost forgot! Our order was Samoas, Garlic Naan, Chicken Korma, and Chicken Tikka Marsala. Rajkeesh (sp?) took my take out order, was so friendly, offered me water while I waited. Great hospitality. We had this as take out and they included some dessert on the house! I'm not sure what it was but it tasted like rice pudding and some of the best I've ever had! I used to have Star as my go-to Indian place and then I moved and started going to Saffron (which I still love) and that kind of became my 'favorite.' Well, I had a compulsion to get food from somewhere else so I got DoorDash to bring Star Indian. I got the Paneer Butter Masala, garlic naan, and chicken 55? biryani. Can't remember the exact name. The naan is so much more fluffy and soft than I've been getting at Saffron so huge win there and the biryani was super tasty and a cheaper price. The paneer butter chicken is delicious, and definitely what I wanted tonight. If you also love Saffron and/or Kinaara, Star is right on par. Super happy with my order. read more

What can I say... this place is truly a gem. A definite MUST TRY kind of restaurant. I saw other's reviews and how much they raved about how good the food is, but even their reviews do not do the place justice. Right as you walk in you can tell this restaurant is different. You are greeted with a friendly face, and a kind word. It was busy with both dine in and take out orders. The staff was beyond amazing. They made sure our dining experience was up to their standards. We wanted for nothing. When we sat down we were given a bowl of Papadum and two dipping sauces. All very tasty. Then our waitress surprised us with another bowl of special noodles. This was for us to try for free. It was also very good. ( if it was in the menu, I would order it ) We were given all the time we needed to look over the menu, then once we were ready, or waitress took our large order, ( without having to write it down ) and was able to recite it back to us verbatim. We ordered the following Chicken 55 Chicken noodles Samosas Hariyali Chicken Tikka Saag Navarantna Korma Cheese Naan Garlic Naan This is a great deal of food for just us two and neither of us are very big people, but we knew we could take home the left overs. The smells, the tastes, the flavors, were all so amazing. It was our first time visiting this restaurant and we will be going back to try new stuff over and over. We tried samosa, chicken tikka, garlic naan, and lamb vindaloo. Overall, the food was pretty good. I was particularly impressed with the naan and lamb vindaloo. The lamb was full of flavor and spices- delicious! I was disappointed by the chicken tikka. The dish did not come out hot (temperature) and I thought it lacked in flavor. I asked for it spicy and did not feel it was very spicy either. I probably would not order this dish again from here. The service was good. Food came out very fast and people checking on us often.
