My fiancé and I just received this nice delivery from one of his friends who is overseas. We have never tried or had Indian food before so this was a first and let me just say so far it is delicious. Of course we still have to take a few more bites since this amazing cuisine was delivered at 9pm way past our dinner time, so this review will get an update soon. Update! 10/10!!!! If anyone ever tries this I recommend dipping the garlic naan into the chicken masala. It may not be the right way to do it, but boy was it tasty!!

Could not recommend this place more! Very authentic ambiance and the food was soo good! I'm not a huge spicy person but they adjust the spice level to your liking on a 1-10 scale! The waitstaff was very helpful in picking a menu item and even brought us a complimentary desert! Try the mango lassi (you'll be in heaven)

I got takeout from here after many people recommended it. I feel like the curries overall had good flavor, but did not have enough spice. I typically don't eat too much spice either, but I felt like I could mainly just taste the creaminess, rather than the other spices/kick that typically Indian food has (I am Indian). There was a good amount of meat in the curries, which was appreciated.

We wanted to try another Indian cuisine spot in Omaha. This place is highly rated - and rightfully so! It smells amazing right when you walk in. The ambiance is great. Cool bubble tank and light fixtures. We got sat immediately. We got convinced to order some samosas (not pictured). They were delicious. The sauces were awesome, too! Our dishes of chicken korma and chicken tikka masala were some of the best we've had in Omaha. We got them relatively spicy, and the kick was good! 100% our new go-to spot for Indian food!

    Oil dipped veggie noodles!!

We ordered veg noodles and chicken noodles. The food was not good at all. The chicken noodles was too salty may be they put the salt twice. Just had to trash that. And the veggie noodles were dipped in oil. Just a few carrots and spring onions and may be a tiny green bell pepper- thats it!! While placing the order I mentioned them that my kid will eat the chicken noodle, so please be extra careful! But they just put too much salt randomly!!! We have tried their food before they were good. I have attached the photos of today's order of veggie noodles. The chicken noodle - we had to put it in the trash!! Just see how people can serve this type of food when we paid exact amount they asked for. Terrible experience.

Star is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha. Each time I have ever gone, the service is some of the best I have ever had. The food is absolutely incredible! From the fluffy, buttery, garlic naan to my flavorful and rich butter chicken. You can't really go wrong here! There are pretty lights through the dining area and bar. There are lots of comfy booths and there's quite a bit of seating options! I really love Star and cannot recommend it enough. It is amazing!

May be my new favorite spot for Indian food in Omaha. Service was outstanding, price point excellent and the food was delicious. I opted for a vegetarian option and we ordered a side of garlic naan. I will be back! It was great to see how busy they were on a recent Sunday night

The food was amazing. They have a ton of vegan and vegetarian options. Complimentary appetizer of papadum with sauces. We got the vegetable madras and kafta and both dishes were amazing. They even gave us a complimentary dessert. :-) The staff was very friendly and the inside is very homey and cozy. Definitely will be going back, best Indian food I've had in Omaha.

The family wanted Indian food and they said Star Indian is the place to go. Large shared parking lot with other businesses in the strip mall. Our order was Samoas, Garlic Naan, Chicken Korma, and Chicken Tikka Marsala. Rajkeesh (sp?) took my take out order, was so friendly, offered me water while I waited. Great hospitality. The order also came with complimentary rice pudding and a fried doughball that was soaked in a honey mixture. The restaurant has a great dining room, bar and semi private large party area. I would love to return here. Ok, bye.

I was seriously craving Indian food while visiting Omaha during Memorial Day weekend, and luckily,…read moreKarnali was the only Indian restaurant open nearby that day. We reached the restaurant around 3:30 - 4 PM for a late lunch, and there were a few people dining inside. The restaurant was very clean, the tables were well arranged, and the Indian music playing in the background gave the place a nice cozy vibe. We started with the tandoori chicken and then ordered garlic naan, butter chicken, and two chais for the main meal. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, but it was different from the typical restaurant-style tandoori chicken. It tasted more homemade with regular spices, without the bright red color or smoky restaurant flavor. Still, it was really good. The best part of the meal was actually the sauce served with the chicken. It tasted like a spicy tomato-onion gravy, almost similar to butter chicken sauce, and honestly, I wish the butter chicken we took later had been cooked in that same sauce because it was delicious. The butter chicken was tasty overall - rich and creamy, though the garlic naan could have been better. The naan felt a little too dry and could have used more butter. The chai at the end was ok because it had a bit too much spice and tasted more milky than tea. The service was decent as well. The server was friendly, but while taking our order he wasn't writing anything down and had to ask us to repeat a few things, so that was a little awkward. The food arrived in about 10 minutes, which was pretty quick. One thing to note is that we had to place the chai order along with the food because the server mentioned it takes around 15 minutes or more to prepare. I did feel that the pricing was slightly higher compared to the quality and portion sizes. The tandoori chicken was around $17 ,the butter chicken was about $19 and the Naans $4 each and chais were around $4 each, so the total came close to $55 + w tax or more. Personally, I don't think the food completely matched the pricing and was mediocre. Overall, I had a decent experience and really appreciate that they were open on Memorial Day because they definitely satisfied my Indian food craving. I would definitely recommend trying the tandoori chicken appetizer, especially with the sauce they serve alongside it. I would give the restaurant a solid 3 out of 5 stars.

It was a Thursday evening and not very busy. Only two other tables when we were there which really surprised me after tasting the food. They started out with the complimentary papadam with two different sauces a mint chutney and a brown sauce not sure what it is but both great. We started off with the naan bread basket and an another garlic cheese naan definitely didn't need more than the bread basket was a very large portion to split. All were very tasty the garlic was my favorite. I had the Karnali combo biryani which was awesome had the right heat I asked for spice wise and good amount of all the different meats. My wife got the mango masala which she really enjoyed and isn't always the biggest Indian food fan but she ate hers and ate the leftovers the next day as well. My aunt had chicken korma which she raved about as well. My mother tried the malai kofta she had only tried Indian food once many years ago and this experience confirmed she's not a fan and has a bad taste palette haha. I really enjoyed this dish as well and was happy to have the leftovers the next couple days. We ordered her some chicken tenders from the kids menu but those also had some seasonings more cumin I'd say and others that she didn't enjoy but our 14 month old really enjoyed. So if you have a very picky eater maybe go with one of the other kids options. The white creamy sauce that came with my biryani was also bursting with flavor and had a great cooling sensation. The man who served our table was very friendly and even played peek a boo with our baby from the register area. Place had a nice vibe and was very clean bathrooms included. Definitely will be back and you should go check out this spot!

The Chicken Pulav arrived in a generous portion with beautifully cooked long grain basmati rice. The rice was fluffy, aromatic, and infused with warm spices without being overly heavy. The chicken was tender and well seasoned, blending nicely with the fragrant rice. A squeeze of lime added a bright freshness that helped balance the richness of the dish. The portion was easily large enough to share or enjoy as leftovers the next day. The Chicken Hariyali was the standout dish of the meal. The chicken pieces were coated in a vibrant green herb-based sauce packed with flavors of cilantro, mint, and spices. The chicken remained juicy and tender, while the sauce delivered a fresh, savory flavor profile that was both unique and satisfying. The dish paired exceptionally well with the biryani, creating a great balance between aromatic rice and rich, herbaceous chicken. The presentation of both dishes was appealing, with fresh garnishes and thoughtful plating. Portions were generous, making the meal feel like a good value. The combination of fragrant spices, tender chicken, and fresh herbs showcased the kitchen's attention to flavor and authenticity. Overall, Astoria delivered a delicious meal with standout flavors and generous portions. If you're visiting, I highly recommend ordering the Chicken Hariyali alongside the Chicken Pulav the two complement each other perfectly.
