Located a little off the beaten path there is dedicated parking that makes access pretty easy to this wonderful little restaurant. The former location of a a Japanese Yakiniku restaurant Zaika has made this space their very own. Having never been here before I was excited to give their lunch buffet a try. Buffet is offered on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 to 2. Menu is available for lunch hours as well as dinner hours. Check their website for details. We were pleasantly greeted by the pleasant restaurant owner who directed us to a wonderful buffet. Not on the buffet, but offered was any type of freshly made naan we preferred. We enjoyed the garlic naan and some soft drinks as this restaurant does not offer alcohol unless the bartender is on duty in the evening. The buffet started with vegetarian options that included fresh fruit, salad items, and condiments. Wonderful vegetarian dishes that offered several types of lentil dishes, zucchini, eggplant, and rice, which were absolutely delicious. The meat area is completely Halal and today's dishes included butter and tandoori chicken options, a goat vindaloo stew that reminded me of beef short rib and was absolutely fabulous, Their meat dumplings were exceptionally delicate what's, and super yummy. We will definitely be back!

Been awhile since I've been to Zaika. Last few times I've tried they were closed. Now I'm not sure if it's new owners or what but they no longer have a liquor license. At lunch today it was somewhat odd. Good but but odd. Waiter is part owner I think. Dressed like he just got out of bed lol... He was nice but I never got my water refilled once. My Palek paneer was very good. Toms of flavor. My mulligatawny soup was unfortunately not good. Was thin and not what you think of when it comes to that soup. It used to be amazing here. Great ambience and the owners/ waiters were extremely friendly.

My recent visit to Zaika left me utterly dismayed and disgusted by the appalling lack of cleanliness and hygiene standards at this establishment. From the moment I entered, it was evident that this was not a place where one could enjoy a meal with peace of mind. The first red flag was the state of the bathroom facilities. Not only were they unkempt and unhygienic, but to my shock and horror, there was fecal matter on the bathroom floor, a sight that no patron should ever have to encounter. This blatant disregard for basic sanitation is not only unacceptable but also poses a serious health hazard to customers and staff alike. Food was mid.

Zaika is excellent, and not just because they're serving up some of the best Indian food in Omaha. It's the way they treat their customers that puts this place over the top. We hit the lunch buffet on a Friday (not a fan of buffets, generally, but that's where Indian food is at its best), and before we could sit down the owner was giving us a pregame walkthrough and a brief synopsis of each dish. Really nice guy, and really, really good food. The "Chicken 65" was the standout among standouts, brimming with flavor and a nice kick. The biryani was almost perfect, as was the tandoori, and the butter chicken was steady. They bring fresh naan to your table, a nice touch, and have several chutneys, spicy relishes and vegetarian options, too. All that for $13? Yeah, we'll keep coming back.

The Garlic Naan and the others are all great!

Place was casual and relaxed. Food was hot and delicious too. We'd go back for sure.

This is our go-to Indian restaurant, starting with take-out during Covid. Got the chance to go inhouse finally and the service was fabulous. The Lahsuhi Gobi apps is a wonderful, nice vegetarian app to get things started. My husband loves the Mixed Biryani, a huge portion that has a full meals worth in the leftovers. I like the chicken tikka masala, the butter chicken, and my new favorite is the Shahi Chicken Korma.

I was seriously craving Indian food while visiting Omaha during Memorial Day weekend, and luckily,…read moreKarnali was the only Indian restaurant open nearby that day. We reached the restaurant around 3:30 - 4 PM for a late lunch, and there were a few people dining inside. The restaurant was very clean, the tables were well arranged, and the Indian music playing in the background gave the place a nice cozy vibe. We started with the tandoori chicken and then ordered garlic naan, butter chicken, and two chais for the main meal. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, but it was different from the typical restaurant-style tandoori chicken. It tasted more homemade with regular spices, without the bright red color or smoky restaurant flavor. Still, it was really good. The best part of the meal was actually the sauce served with the chicken. It tasted like a spicy tomato-onion gravy, almost similar to butter chicken sauce, and honestly, I wish the butter chicken we took later had been cooked in that same sauce because it was delicious. The butter chicken was tasty overall - rich and creamy, though the garlic naan could have been better. The naan felt a little too dry and could have used more butter. The chai at the end was ok because it had a bit too much spice and tasted more milky than tea. The service was decent as well. The server was friendly, but while taking our order he wasn't writing anything down and had to ask us to repeat a few things, so that was a little awkward. The food arrived in about 10 minutes, which was pretty quick. One thing to note is that we had to place the chai order along with the food because the server mentioned it takes around 15 minutes or more to prepare. I did feel that the pricing was slightly higher compared to the quality and portion sizes. The tandoori chicken was around $17 ,the butter chicken was about $19 and the Naans $4 each and chais were around $4 each, so the total came close to $55 + w tax or more. Personally, I don't think the food completely matched the pricing and was mediocre. Overall, I had a decent experience and really appreciate that they were open on Memorial Day because they definitely satisfied my Indian food craving. I would definitely recommend trying the tandoori chicken appetizer, especially with the sauce they serve alongside it. I would give the restaurant a solid 3 out of 5 stars.

It was a Thursday evening and not very busy. Only two other tables when we were there which really surprised me after tasting the food. They started out with the complimentary papadam with two different sauces a mint chutney and a brown sauce not sure what it is but both great. We started off with the naan bread basket and an another garlic cheese naan definitely didn't need more than the bread basket was a very large portion to split. All were very tasty the garlic was my favorite. I had the Karnali combo biryani which was awesome had the right heat I asked for spice wise and good amount of all the different meats. My wife got the mango masala which she really enjoyed and isn't always the biggest Indian food fan but she ate hers and ate the leftovers the next day as well. My aunt had chicken korma which she raved about as well. My mother tried the malai kofta she had only tried Indian food once many years ago and this experience confirmed she's not a fan and has a bad taste palette haha. I really enjoyed this dish as well and was happy to have the leftovers the next couple days. We ordered her some chicken tenders from the kids menu but those also had some seasonings more cumin I'd say and others that she didn't enjoy but our 14 month old really enjoyed. So if you have a very picky eater maybe go with one of the other kids options. The white creamy sauce that came with my biryani was also bursting with flavor and had a great cooling sensation. The man who served our table was very friendly and even played peek a boo with our baby from the register area. Place had a nice vibe and was very clean bathrooms included. Definitely will be back and you should go check out this spot!

The Chicken Pulav arrived in a generous portion with beautifully cooked long grain basmati rice. The rice was fluffy, aromatic, and infused with warm spices without being overly heavy. The portion was easily large enough to share or enjoy as leftovers the next day. The Chicken Hariyali was the standout dish of the meal. The chicken pieces were coated in a vibrant green herb-based sauce packed with flavors of cilantro, mint, and spices. The chicken remained juicy and tender, while the sauce delivered a fresh, savory flavor profile that was both unique and satisfying.
