I love Indian food. That being said, I hate spicy food. I specifically make sure I order the least spicy level when ordering from anywhere. Bawarchi didn't give me an option to do that for delivery, so I made special instructions notes on everything "not spicy" - I did what I could to prevent it from being too spicy for me. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened. Butter chicken is as safe as an Indian food you can get to avoid spice, it's usually not spicy at all and just creamy. I took one bite of this and knew it was inedible for me. Way too spicy. I was very bummed. I got chicken tikka momos which are a weekend special, I'm very confused if they gave me normal ones or what because inside it was completely normal looking chicken, not seasoned, no sauce.. and they also were a little spicy, tolerable at least but still didn't taste at all like chicken tikka. I also had the samosas and I did think they were good and honestly the only reason I gave it any stars. It's still a little spicy but again tolerable enough that I was able to eat them. A little expensive at over $7 for two. Lastly I got the egg dosa. It's advertised as "fluffy eggs inside crepe" but I literally couldn't tell if they even gave me an egg dosa or a regular one. There was no fluffy eggs, no flavor, no anything. Extremely disappointing. Overall, I probably would not try again. If I'm explicitly writing not spicy and it's still so spicy I can't even eat it, there's something wrong. I've eaten plenty of Indian food where the spice level is fine and there is no reason for me to worry it'll be inedible but sadly this is not one of those places Threw my money and this food in the trash. Overall pretty good Indian fare, but I wanted a bit more seasoning in the chicken curries. We ordered two of our standby dishes: chicken tikka masala and butter chicken. Both renditions were good and we liked their flavor but wanted more. A bit too tomato-forward for my taste. The naan was nicely baked but they put both the butter and garlic naans together in the same foil packet. Not an issue for us but some may want to be aware. We also liked the gulab jamun. I've been to a number of Indian restaurants in the Omaha area, but my wife and I found this place when they first opened and it has become one of my favorite restaurants in town. I Normally judge an Indian restaurant by their butter chicken and their chicken tikki, which are both quite delicious at this establishment, but they have so many other things I want to try. I've really enjoyed their selection of Biryanis, dishes that are cooked in a clay pot over rice, so the rice gets the same flavors as the spices used for seasoning the dish itself. The portions are larger than what I can typically handle, which is saying a lot. Great value for your money. I have been pleasantly surprised each visit, being asked what spice level I would like, mild, medium, or spicy... I have choosen medium for the dishes I have ordered, but it may be a bit on the hotter side, and i have thought each time after eating, that I probably should order my dish mild next time.... i haven't remembered yet, eventhough i keep thinking it. I would probably die if I ordered it spicy, instead of medium. Lol The service is top notch. Everyone is friendly and eager to make sure your experience is superior to any other. They truly want you to enjoy your meal and your time in their establishment. The ambience is not romantic, but it's certainly clean, and tastefully arranged. They have booths and tables, to accommodate small or larger groups. If you like Indian cuisine, i would highly recommend trying this place out.... I was pretty sad about Sea Thai closing, but was less disappointed to learn that an Indian place was taking over. I learned from my neighbors that Bawarchi is a chain and a very tasty, consistent one at that. It had taken me forever to get here, but finally had the chance this past Monday. 1. Service is friendly and timed pretty well. We had a mix of two servers and they both had great recommendations for appetizers, entrees, and dessert. 2. The prices were fair. 3. The food was phenomenal. The female waitress recommended Chicken Biryani 65 and it might just be my new favorite dish. My friend got the Chicken Korma and while good, I liked mine a bit better. Get the garlic naan, yes please. Some areas of improvement: 1. You definitely don't come for the bathroom. Somehow it smelled of a hotel pool area (could be worse) and was part bathroom, part storage room. Maybe they forgot to do anything with this when they took over the location? 2. Waters were full but no plates were cleared even after it was clear we were done. The dirty dishes stayed at the table until the bitter end. Overall, so good! I enjoy eating here! They will tailor your spice level, even more than usual like if you have been in the hospital. We got 5 dishes this time and each one was different, tasty and hot (temp). We also got garlic naan. Ordering drinks has a catch- each glass is $4, so if you order iced tea each refill counts as a new glass. Another great thing about the restaurant is a majority of the patrons are Indian, which is an awesome sign of good food! We ordered paneer butter masala, hyderabad curry chicken, chicken korma, fried rice, Chicken malai kabab, garlic naan and an apricot cream dessert. Enjoy! read more

Really enjoyed this new restaurant! Every bite was delicious! Favs for me were the Chicken 65, the naan, and the golab Jamun. My husband really enjoyed the spicy Gongura Chicken. Only negative was the plastic plates and silverware, a bit unexpected in a sit down restaurant, but perhaps that is because they are newly opened? Holy sh*t - as a native Californian who worked in the food industry with a ton of prominent Indian families - I think I know good Indian food and this is as good as it gets before you get to Michelin levels. A new franchise restaurant in Omaha, it has borrowed the name from famous Bawarchi from Hyderabad india but it's a completely different franchise. Food quality is great and quantity is satisfactory, you must try their Biryanis for their name, you should also give a shot to Indo Chinese that they serve here, we tried Chicken fried rice, Veg fried rice, a masala dosa and uttapam and all which was authentic in taste. Fast hot and delicious! I had lentils and a chicken dish. Ordered the chicken as medium spice and it was a bit on the hot side for me (guess I'm a wimp!) but I balanced it with the lentils that I ordered as mild and it was perfect. Naan was also very good. I'd give it sometime to workout the kinks!! I went out tonight-to the market/store next door, to pick up our favorite naan to make at home but they were closed. To my surprise, and excitement, I found this gem open next door. I went in and ordered two orders of naan to go. I figured it'd be 5ish mins (I mean it only takes mins to heat up naan) they said 10. No worries... Well 25 mins later, nothing. After 30 mins of waiting I went up to ask for a refund and leave & he appeared with the 4 pieces of naan I ordered and a simple I'm sorry. They only had 2 tables sat and they all already had food. P.S.- the naan was what I buy in the store... (So I know it only takes 3 mins to heat up) Side note: while I was waiting I asked for a to go menu (ya know excited to have Indian so close to home) And was told to just take a picture with my phone Okay... Then he pointed and asked me sit down, like I was making them uncomfortable standing. It was very strange. I'm not sure I'll go back to eat a meal or to give it another chance, bc if it takes that long to make naan... I'm not sure I have hours to wait on food. Just got home from this phenomenal place! This was by far, my favorite eating experience since moving to Omaha 3 years ago. It was exactly what I've been craving and the service was wonderful and kind and the food... oh my gosh... the food was out of this world. You can tell from the first bite that none of it was frozen and all of it was made with the freshest spices. This was confirmed by the owner who told us all about his passion for "slow food". Food cooked right and cooked right then. I can't say enough good things about this place. The decor was intentional and engaging. The mural is beautiful, ask about it's meaning! Everything we ordered was just perfect. And the portions are huge! So bring your appetite! We expected a very hefty bill, given all that we ordered, but it was beyond fair and we will be back next week. It's going to become our weekly date night. The service was wonderful and no complaints on that end. Very attentive and friendly. Our appetizer was also wonderful and piping hot. Two complaints. After our food arrived we had a 10 minute wait or so before the rice arrived. We arrived right at 11am (opening time) so my thought was they hadn't started their rice cooker soon enough so gave them some leeway. Unfortunately our main dish was also pretty cold right at the start. While we waited for the rice to actually eat, we did taste thing's immediately and we both commented that our food was definitely not hot. I also have a tendency to find a few traditional dishes to compare others to and find a few other short list items to hover on. This is my kind of place. I have had several dishes here that really are fully satisfying and are made even better with a masala chai tea. Today's stop included chicken Mughlai. I couldn't stop eating it. We were a bit hesitant to try another new Indian restaurant after previous disappointments. Fortunately, we were pleasantly surprised by Bawarchi. Part of an extensive chain with restaurants across the USA, Australia, and Canada, the food was good, ambiance nice, and service friendly. Prices were on the high side but not outrageous. The chicken saag was adequate but the tandoori chicken was very good (though smaller sized pieces would have been preferred). The onion kulcha was somewhat listless and the raita a bit watery. I also would have liked the Woodpecker beer to have been served a few degrees colder. Nonetheless, we would not hesitate returning to Bawarchi or recommending to others to give it a try. read more

An outstanding Indian restaurant in a town that already has plenty of Indian restaurants. Each dish is made fresh to-order. The heat of the entree is your choice. I prefer my Indian dishes on the lower end of the heat scale, but that didn't compromise the full flavor of the dish. For example, the Chicken Korma at Bawarchi is not the creamy, orange-colored sauce from a blender served elsewhere. Bawarchi's is a more complex and more flavorful sauce with herbs and spices visible that gently reveal themselves on the palate. Also, the dinnerware is no longer plastic as reported in a previous review. It's been replaced with heavy weight stoneware and shiny, thick gauge stainless steel flatware. I've enjoyed Indian food many places around the US. Bawarchi stands head and shoulders above anything I've tasted thus far. Go and enjoy soon! read more
