    Fig latte and cloud matcha
    Keely N.

A minimalist cafe with delicious beverages. I ordered the fig latte with oat milk and was very impressed by its creaminess. My friend ordered the cloud matcha, but couldn't finish it because it was a bit too sweet for her preference. I would definitely come back and try different beverages!

Hypnos is a cute little coffee shop on N. Williams. The outside is as nice as the inside. The customer service is top notch. I was greeted warmly and not rushed to place my order. I ordered an Americano and it was delicious. I didn't have any of the pastries. Inside of the coffee shop are seats and tables and a clean, warm vibe is given off. My only complaint is I wish there was more seating! Other than that, I think I'm in love!

Hypnos Coffee is a modern speciality coffee shop definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. To get here, street parking will be your best option. Seating wise, they have about 5-6 tables for seating inside and some additional seating outside as well. For their menu, they have a nice selection of coffee and matcha drinks to choose from. I opted to try the Spiced Pear Matcha and it was solid with smooth flavor profile. All of the staff are very friendly and welcoming. This is a great spot to come get some work done, meet up with a friend/date, or just to grab a drink and go.

Iced Carrot Cake Latte + Iced Bouquet Latte with cold foam

We stumbled upon this place by accident, and it was a delight. The flavor of the carrot cake latte was incredible highly recommend drinking it without a straw to really get the flavor in your sips. The bouquet latte was refreshing with lavender, and the combination with the vanilla was a creamy spring delight. The interior aesthetic was minimalist but still cohesive. The employees were great.

Very open, minimalistic, simple, clean atmosphere. We tried cortado and dry cap with pastry. The barista was very welcoming and friendly. Great service and customer service with care. She also served our pastry warmed up. Our coffee was pretty richand delicious. Hypnos definitely made to one of our favorite coffee shop list.

My barista was an absolute sweetheart. By the way people were coming in and greeted so warmly by those behind the counter, you can tell this is a beloved neighborhood spot. Surprising for such a trendy looking place too! I was recommended the Marron Latte & it was delicious! We need to add more chestnut into our coffee as a society because it's so good.

I visited Hypnos Coffee recently. The inside was nice and there was plenty of drinks and pastries to choose from. The service was great. I got the pumpkin crème hojicha latte which was one of the special fall drinks. I liked the sweetness level which was wasn't too high and the spices. It was a very cozy drink. I also got a pumpkin streusel muffin which was super tasty. In a city that has a lot of great cafes. Hypnos definitely shines bright.

This place is so so cute! I love all the natural lighting and ambience. The staff here is so sweet and friendly always get my order right. I have been here a few times now and will continue to come back for my dirty chai! The chai has the perfect spice to it and always looks so beautiful. If you haven't stopped in yet please do!

Hojicha latte and matcha latte with delicious milks! The name of Hypnos coffee definitely has the chill vibe of the Greek god of sleep a punny name indeed :) The service was friendly and patient as we were navigating the menu, we stayed for a good time and it was a wonderful relaxation spot as we were exploring the neighborhood. It's dog friendly & plays chill cafe lo fi music!

Hypnos catches your eye with a yellow awning, lures you in with a clean minimal design, and gets you to stay with Coava roasted beans and Bakeshop made pastries. With decor this trendy, I was pleasantly surprised by exceptionally friendly service! The cafe was abuzz on a Tuesday morning/midday so seating may be limited. I'd love to come back for their specialty lattes.

Very clean and aesthetic spot that will lure you in! I got a latte that was chestnut flavored I think. It tasted homemade. I don't think I'd get it again. I'm sure the other flavors are fantastic. Service was good. Staff was nice. Lots of seating inside.

    Bonbon Mocha
    Ploy N.

Absolutely in love with this spot! The asethetic can't be beat with clean looks and a warm color tone. Their menu is also very fun and creative. We tried the Bonbon Mocha and the Chestnut Latte with Cold Foam. Both were amazingly delicious! Subtle flavors that paired very well with the coffee. The people are also very nice, making the whole place super welcoming. Can't wait to already be back!

The space feels cozy, welcoming, and full of personality. I especially loved the little post-it wall where customers can leave behind anything they want a small detail that makes the café feel even more personal and community-driven. What I ordered: Soft Cream Matcha One of the creamiest matchas I've ever had! The soft cream was incredibly fluffy and smooth, while the matcha itself was bold enough to come through with every sip and also had a coconuty essence to it. It had just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the matcha. If you love a rich, creamy matcha, this is definitely one to try. Es-Yen A classic Thai-style iced coffee made with condensed milk. This was strong, sweet, and definitely had that much-needed wake-me-up effect! The condensed milk gave it a creamy sweetness while still allowing the bold coffee flavor to shine through. It was the perfect balance of sweet and strong exactly what I needed. Buttered & Sweetened Condensed Milk Toast I originally had my eye on the pandan toast, but it's clearly a popular choice because it was already sold out earlier in the day! So I went with the buttered and sweetened condensed milk toast instead, and I'm so glad I did. The toast was crispy on the outside, buttery, warm, and finished with that sweet condensed milk flavor. Every bite practically melted in my mouth. The pandan toast is definitely on my list for next time! My Portland experience was made even better by my stop at Kaleido Coffee. The owners were so sweet and welcoming, taking the time to give me recommendations and making sure everyone was taken care of even during a busy rush. Until next time, Portland!

I would come back for the space, but I would order something different next time. ------ This Prince Coffee location is really cute. The ambiance and seating area are aesthetically pleasing, with a bright, airy, and light-colored atmosphere. Ordering was quick and easy, and the drinks came out fairly fast. I visited on a weekend, and because it was raining outside, indoor seating was pretty limited. I was excited to try the drinks, but unfortunately, there was something a little off with the flavor profiles of the ones I ordered. 1. Coconut Jasmine Lemonade: This tasted pretty good overall, but I could barely taste the jasmine since the lemonade dominated most of the drink. The drink also seemed to coagulate a bit, which left behind an unusual texture. 2. Guava Coconut Matcha: This drink was okay, but I was not entirely sure that the matcha and guava complemented each other well. The flavors did not feel as balanced as I was hoping. Overall, I would come back because the cafe has a great ambiance and location. However, I would probably steer away from the drinks I ordered and try something else next time.

The shop is situated in an iconic part of NW 21st; it exudes sophisticated and timeless charm. The Loss of a True Neighborhood Anchor…read more For years, this coffee house was the primary reason I loved living in this neighborhood. Under its original stewardship, it provided a rare "third place"--a vital social anchor where writers, neighbors, and local faces created a true sense of home. It was a space where you could spend two hours writing in the morning, knowing the flow would be punctuated by the pleasant interruptions of catching up with familiar locals. When the new ownership took over, I eagerly supported them, hoping that inclusive community spirit would endure. Unfortunately, the culture has shifted toward a rigid, punitive customer service framework that completely lacks the ability to navigate human communication differences or de-escalate sensitive situations. A simple, polite morning request to lower the early morning music unexpectedly scaled into an antagonistic confrontation with young staff. Then, in a subsequent incident, instead of a calm intervention, during a conversation, I was publicly yelled at across a crowded room by another young employee. Their continued rude behavior pushed me past a breaking point out of sheer anxiety, and I uncharacteristically lost my temper, resorted to profanity, and walked out. While I take full ownership of my part--reacting defensively under that immense stress--the owners' ultimate solution was to permanently ban a long-term, 5-plus years loyal patron rather than engage in a mutual conversation about what caused the friction in the first place. For an establishment that projects an image of neighborhood inclusivity, the reality is a stark lack of grace. By prioritizing a punitive model over community care, the new management has hollowed out the very environment that made this place a longtime, beloved local fixture. It is deeply saddening and has been a great upset to lose such a meaningful part of my daily neighborhood routine, but those who value a truly inclusive, understanding neighborhood environment should be aware of how the culture here has fundamentally changed.
