Abraham Baljian is a true representation of a straightforward, no-bs sales manager. I was interested in a car, sight unseen, and let me tell you that there was not a hint of sketchy salesman sentiment I felt from him. I purchased a Hyundai for my wife not too long ago and it was difficult to try and find a salesperson who did not try to finagle with the numbers in some way. I am a finance guy so it's cringy, embarrassing, and downright disrespectful. Abraham did not do this. In fact, this is probably the most efficient I've ever dealt with a salesperson, so thank you. I so wanted to give this dealership 5 stars for reasons I will explain shortly, however, let's start from the beginning. Came down to the lot and there was a lot of shaking and moving. Real good energy was in the atmosphere with customers filled with excitement driving off in their sleek looking vehicles and the sales team really working as a team. I was interested in a new Veloster and one of the prerequisites were that it had to have a manual transmission. Luckily enough they did have a manual one sitting sporty on the showroom floor. I was greeted by Moises with a hearty handshake and a genuine disposition. I told Moises that I was very interested in the Veloster line up and we talked about my particular interests and went on an awesome test drive with the sole Veloster they had on the lot. I was quite impressed with the pep that the car had and how much practicality it possessed toward my current lifestyle. Upon returning to the lot I found out that I was only test driving the Base model! Wow, I thought to myself if the base model was that impressive then the mid-level and/or the top of the line model would definitely leave an impression. We sat down to talk numbers and further options. I was very interested in seeing the numbers for a Turbo and the new N tuned edition and was willing to wait, for I was in no immediate need to buy a car but would not hesitate to pull the trigger if the budget and accomodations of securing a particular model were meet. Long story short, I was visited by two of the Sales Managers. The first of the two became disgruntled and borderline disrespectful by acting like a child storming off as if he were doing me a favor when he was completely lying to my face by being condescending and highly unprofessional. The second listened to my terms but looked like he had a long memorial day and looked ready to call it an evening. I could relate. It was encroaching closing time, but at least he shook my hand and bid me a pleasant evening. Moises was professional the whole time and not overstepping his floor managers but really saw how that left me with a bad taste in my mouth and immediately apologized. He quickly recalled all the important parts of our conversation and asked me if it would be ok if he could check back with me if and when the vehicle package in came onto the lot. This was greatly appreciated and highly professional. Needless to mention, not once did he glare at the time and afforded me his undivided attention even though it was well past 9pm. In closing, I gave Moises my contact information. We are still in contact today because of the poise and professional acumen showed, that, at least he showed that he wanted to earn my business. If Hyundai Escondido is the regional Hyundai Dealership to you or if you want to work with a true Sales Professional ask for Moises Almeda! I highly endorse his work ethic and professionalism. Excellent Recall Experience. Thank you, Gwen Olivares and the Escondido Hyundai Service Team. I had three recalls due on my 2017 Tuscon Limited. I bought this car from Escondido Hyundai, and it's near my home, so I figured what have I got to lose. No Hyundai dealership has great reviews on service. I called and made an appointment. When I did, Gwen answered,. She quickly found all my relevant information on her computer and knew what I needed. She also told me I should have to leave the car for the day because it could be a 6-hour process, so I was prepared. When I arrived at 08:30 on 3 March 2022, an attendant directed me where to park and Gwen got me all signed up. I was in and out in 5 minutes. She said that she would call me when the work was done. She called me about 5 hours later and told me the car would be ready in 30 minutes - right on time. When I got a ride to Escondido Hyundai, Gwen recognized me, and I had the car within 5 minutes. On Saturday 7/25/20 I took my vehicle to get serviced. This was the first time getting serviced at this location since I got this vehicle. I came to this location because The Carlsbad service was closed on Saturdays. Because of the COVID 19 I no longer work on the weekends... I usually take my vehicle to get serviced at Laguna Niguel it's more convenient for me because I work in San Clemente (Mon-Fri). So I decided to take my vehicle to get serviced In Escondido on a Saturday. This way it doesn't interfere during my work hours. If I would have known I was going to be over charged I would have never taken my vehicle. YES it was explained to me what was recommended at my mileage, it was very visible on the screen as well. I declined everything and just wanted the Oil Changed. I even expressed verbally "I just want the Oil Chang today" that's it. When I was walking to the designated area .. I felt secured.. Comfort. So to my surprise when it was time to pay it came out to $100 and something dollars. Seriously felt like I was being punched in the stomach.. as he gathered my paperwork he explained what was done to the vehicle. I was shocked. When I left my vehicle there was NO TALK of Rotating Tires what so ever.. Like I said I declined everything on the screen and verbally said "I just want the Oil Change". I have rotated my tires and done an oil change before...I have also declined in the past having my tires rotated BECAUSE it was ALWAYS mentioned. This visit just seemed like the gentleman sneaked in the ROATING TIRES charge. I simply do not understand what was so difficult .. me making the appointment with ONLY OIL CHANGE selected ....getting to the service office and ONLY advising OLI CHANGE. Honestly it feels like I'm being taken advantage because im a woman. I wanted to wait for the Customer Survey for me to share the experience but I have yet to receive the survey. I got my vehicle at Hyundai of Escondido because of an unfortunate experience. It was resolved and now THIS? I wish I could make this up. Very Disappointed. read more

Thank you to all who shared their comments before me. Those reflecting their troubled new car buying experience were spot on. My experience was one of coordinated neglect sprinkled with untruth. They tried to sell me a $995 mandatory Dealer alarm when the car already had an alarm. All but one salesperson gave me the runaround and was unprofessional and avoided my calls and meetings. The manager Steve and a salesman Jose both lied to me about the function, cost and presence of a "dealer alarm". The manger of the store Dave was given the opportunity to address the problem and was just as helpless. Here's the detail: I was quoted a price in writing by a helpful sales person at the dealer named Sayiri. She was prompt and professional and easy to work with. When I came back in to buy the car an extra $995 was added for a dealer alarm. The Sales manager Steve slipped this charge into a 40 second rehearsed summary of extra charges "$9 tire fee, $80 Registration, $995 alarm, $20 paper fee ...etc." I had cash, was ready to buy and in a good mood so I stopped him and asked for a quick explanation of the $995 system so we could wrap it up. I figured he's explain it, I'd pay the $ and close. Instead he delivered a rehearsed line suggesting that the car didn't have an alarm without this extra $995 feature. The car in fact came with an alarm from the factory. I tried to help him explain the benefit to me so he could save face and he struggled. His facts were wrong about the function of the alarm. I was also holding the dealer's quote via the Costco buyer's group which stated "no other options were required on the car". Pretty awkward to have a guy straight out lie about the function of an alarm and lie about the mandatory $995 fee when you have the evidence from his sales person in your hand. The alarm issue became a trust issue. So we left with a bad taste and 2 hours later we received a call from pleasant Siyiri asking if we'd consider buying if they removed the alarm. By this time I had read these reviews about potential troubles with the warranty because of cut wires when a dealer alarm is installed. Plus I read stories about this classic where a dealer alarm convenience feature is parlayed into a $995 mandatory charge. The original installation of the alarm involved cutting wires so whether it stayed or went it would be a possible future warranty liability problem. I called Hyundi Warranty in advance and confirmed that it would be prudent to get some documentation about the alarm so that if the cut wiring ever had a problem the warranty people wouldn't think that I or an outside company added my own alarm which would void that part of the warranty. I tried to reach Sayiri to get a start on the documentation paperwork and instead got Jose who was clueless about the entire situation and unprofessional but wanted me to rehash my whole story over again. In the process he tried to tell me about how great the dealer alarm was. He was indeed clueless and saying exactly what he shouldn't to keep me as a customer, at which point I had to coach him to not dig into this sensitive issue and instead try to get me to Sayiri so that I could just buy the car. He said he's check into it. I called back in a few hours and he told me the alarm had already been removed from the car. At this point I was concerned with the run-around I was getting and called the manager Dave and left a message saying. "Please help me buy a car by allowing me to work directly with Siyiri to get the paperwork taken care of and collect my payment" and I left my phone #" So I came back to the dealer when Sayiri was scheduled to work and learned that she had to leave on an emergency. I asked to speak with Dave the manager to end the run-around and instead was given "Steve" the same guy who lied to me the day earlier. My jaw dropped. Really? So I opted for a rookie sales agent instead to show me the car again. My goal was to confirm that the alarm was gone and then buy the car. When we got to the car the dealer alarm WAS STILL THERE. Jose had lied to me. (Another big trust issue) I asked the rookie agent if I could talk to the person who installs the alarms to figure out how the equipment would be taken out. The rookie agent told me the alarm guy only spoke Spanish. I told him I speak it too. He left to find the alarm person and instead came back with Dave, the manager. I figured "finally, Dave is going to set things straight" I started with a really simple request. I said "Dave I'd like to have some type of a note that says that the alarm was added by a certified tech at your shop". I figured we'd get the basics nailed down and then figure out how to take out the alarm. Dave refused to have anything documented at all. Not even a scribble on a napkin saying "Dealer installed alarm". Why was he hiding something so basic, was the tech really certified? Dave couldn't get out of his own way to close a $50,000 sale. First time yelping, but hopefully people see this. I have been looking for a car for the past month. I put in my request with a gentleman I'll let remain anonymous to wait for the 2023 elantra hev limited which is about 30k. He talked me into the electric shadow color which I actually did like after he showed it to me. Fast forward to the day the car gets into the lot, and we need to negotiate the price... This happened during a time when dealerships were marking up cars like crazy, so it wasn't just Escondido. However, I still hate markups as a principle, so I did my best to stay away from them. Escondido marked up the car 5k and didn't include any of the addons with it. I told them that was ridiculous and tried coming down to a markup of 2k AND I'LL BUY THE $1500 SECURITY SYSTEM which I thought was more than generous on my part, especially at a time when I started to see markups come down amongst a lot of dealerships. They insulted me even further by barely coming down 500 if I remember right. So I left, and even then, another car salesman was howling after me trying to get me to still buy the car, which was even more insulting because the price he offered was more than the first guy's offer! I thought nothing of it because I had other dealerships I was communicating with that offered far less of a markup or some kind of addon so at least my money wasn't just going away for nothing. Besides, in this car market, I expected them to sell the car the next day full markup easily, so everybody wins (except the unfortunate person paying a 5k markup I suppose). Fast forward to a few days later... I have a deal I'm willing to go through in 2 weeks because it's only a 3k addon and no markup. But I'm bored so I browse other dealerships inventory. I notice that a different dealer who I hadn't had contact with in a while actually had a 2022 hev limited on site and ready to sell (I honestly prefer 2022 to 2023 because there is no difference aside from the number of the year). So I call him up and he offers only a 2200 addon that comes with a security system and paint protection. I'm not necessarily happy about the addons but at least its not a markup, and it's not a terrible addon. So I tell him deal, I'll come in after work! This is where my fun began. Escondido called back saying they got in a new car out of nowhere like they had no idea they were getting another car in that was the exact same as the one I originally negotiated for. (This is where I call their B.S. by the way because I'm 99% sure it IS the same car I originally negotiated for. And I think they are actually desperate because they did not in fact sell the car the very next day). He tells me that they have a different manager willing to give me a better price than before, and so I tell him the truth because I like being transparent. I tell him I have an offer with another dealer to which I am buying their car after work. I tell him the exact offer and say if you can beat it, by all means go for it. I won't stop you, but I'm buying a car somewhere today. A couple hours later, he calls back giving me a price with no markup, the same addons as the other place, but a little extra to offset the change in year. Except the addons are about 200 more than the other place. I understand the difference in price of car because of the year difference, but the addons should cost the same in my eyes. I ask him why I would go with Escondido when I can get it 200 cheaper at the other place. So he says he'll ask his manager again and call me back. He does call back and says he'll go down 200 if it'll make or break the deal. I really did prefer the color of Escondido to the other one, and its a newer year, so I said deal! I'm on my way! Fast forward to 20 mins of driving to Escondido... I call him up. I tell him I'm about 5 minutes away, and I'm really excited for the car. He responds with, "Ooh, I'm really sorry, but we just sold that car." I ask if he's kidding or for real with this. After so much agony of going back with different dealers, he tells me this? He has the ability to tell me that the car we have been negotiating on all day was just sold? After he came to me days later begging to buy the car he couldn't sell the day they got it? He didn't tell me at all about this other customer the entire day (if there even was one). I go through the motions as I'm listening to him say he's sorry over and over, and then I say ok and bye. I immediately call up the other dealer and tell him I'm on my way right now. Don't do me dirty like Escondido. Escondido Hyundai isn't getting my service or any of my friends' service for a very, very long time. read more

There was a grocery store in town, where they put a broom next to the cash register. Whenever someone checked out the owner would put the broom on their bill. If they noticed, he would say, Oh, I'm sorry, I thought that was your broom. But most people didn't notice. At Hyundai of Escondido they put a car alarm on every car. it's not listed on the sticker, and they don't mention it at all. It's an extra $1300. When you call them and ask, they say, You signed the documents, it was on there. But, in fact, you don't sign documents, you sign an electronic pad that doesn't disclose anything. One of the worst new car buying experiences I've had. Beware of the garbage overpriced Karr Alarm System mark-up they will add to the contract and tell you it's "required" because it's pre-installed on all of their vehicles and because "they need to make some money on the deal". They added $1500 to the contact price for this alarm I didn't want, they lowered it to $995 which is still a major ripoff. One month after the purchasing of our 2020 Tucson we started having major mechanical issues. Our local Hyundai dealership service dept indicated that per Hyundai technical assistance the aftermarket alarm needed to be removed. Escondido Hyundai arranged to have an alarm tech disconnect it. We are now trying to get a refund for the alarm that is disconnected and that we didn't want in the first place but can't seem to get a call back from Escondido Hyundai... terrible customer service.. read more

Well I broke down and bought a brand new 2020 Hyundai Sonata last night and put myself in debt but this morning, I really regretting it. My fancy new alarm has gone off every 2 minutes for the last 4 hours. It took numerous calls to the dealership to finally get someone to do something while I'm at work. I'm getting in trouble because my alarm is making so much noise. And this is only day one! What else can I expect?? Should have kept my old looking 2014 car. Didn't look pretty but never had any issues. Beware if you're looking for a new car. Update to last post. Manager there dodged my calls all day and I had to find my own way home from work with no car and they still don't know why my new car isn't working! Stay away from this horrible dealership. BUYERS PLEASE READ THIS! I'm extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with this dealership. They sold me a used car that was over price not certified and on top of it was damage. They charged me over $3000 on a guarantee that didn't cover the damages. I've been paying monthly plus repairs of a car that I got from this dealership about 3 months ago. THIS DEALERSHIP HYUNDAI OF ESCONDIDO do not care about the costumer. They didn't have provide me with a tow truck or helped me with absolutely anything. If you're looking to get insulted by the salesperson, then this place is the perfect place for you. I started walking the new inventory lot looking for a bigger SUV than the one I had. Didn't really have a budget & was very upfront with the salesman about that. I wanted to look at a Hyundai Palisade they had on the lot, only to be told by the salesman "no, you can't afford that". Excuse me? I ignored it & went through with looking at the Palisade, it seemed like a decent car, so we sat down & I asked for them to look at my current car to see what they could offer me. The salesman then said "Gross, your car smells like cigarette smoke" News to me, because cigarettes give me migraines & I've never smoked those day in my life, especially in my car. I mentioned that my parents used to smoke when I was a child & the smell had always made me sick. He claimed "well you must be noseblind to it. I have a really good sense of smell". The final straw was when he started threatening to put my child in time out as my husband was trying to speak to our child. This wasn't said in a joking way & he wasn't laughing. Either way, it was not appropriate... As we are walking out, I smell cigarette smoke & asked another salesman if he smelled it too. He had & said that there was a salesperson standing near my car smoking a cigarette prior to getting that estimate for my current car. What bullshit. I told the salesman that had been helping us & he stormed away, didn't apologize for being rude or anything. At the end of the day, I'm really glad we didn't buy it because a few days later, I saw an add Hyundai had posted on Facebook. The comments were flooded with reviews of people having issues with their Palisade's transmission & that the car is known to catch on fire randomly? And when Hyundai has been told of the issues, they refuse to acknowledge the problems and continue to sell shitty Palisade's. I strongly suggest that you do not take your car to this dealership for repair. our 4 year old car with 46000 miles is there for warranty work. it has been there since June 15- 3 months ago. we have heard every excuse- not enough employees, waiting for parts, ordered wrong parts, need more parts, the part we need is not available in the entire Hyundai network- excuse after excuse. Don't expect any up dates, you are always the one to call. to make matters even worse although we have reached out to Hyundai corporate and they have not offered any help. they assigned a case manager who is impossible to reach. stay away from this brand. read more

My husband and I went here on a weekday because we were interested in purchasing a new vehicle. I have had a hyundai for the past 10 years and I have never had any issues. We pulled up to the dealership and it was obviously empty since it was a weekday. There were 4 guys standing out front just chit chatting and on their cell phones. We parked our car, got the baby stroller and baby out of the car and were looking around for someone to help us, and continued to look inside some cars with no help from anyone! The service was so horrible we left. Had time to put the stroller and baby back in the car and still no one. Only when we were literally backing out to leave did someone try to come up to our car. My husband ignored it and the guy looked pissed and just walked away. Mind you we had visited 3 other dealerships that day and they were also empty but the service was great at each one. A salesman approached us at each one and was eager to answer any questions we had. If i decide to get another Hyundai, I'll take my business back to Carlsbad. read more

It was my first visit to this store. I had communicated with John leading up to the visit and he was very helpful without being pushy. Since I was a bit late for my appointment and John was busy with customers by then, he handed me over to the competent hands of Alma. What a great woman to be helped by! Knowledgeable, helpful and kind, she took me on an enjoyable test drive. Then I got Carfax reports for both cars I was interested in and after that was presented with the first offer. Knowing my situation and budget from the get go, everyone was very accommodating and eventually we had a deal! While we were waiting for them to complete the paperwork we commented to each other that we thought it strange that they never said anything about an extended warranty or alarm system during negotiations. We thought "OK, apparently they're honoring that no-haggle TrueCar price that we agreed to." Imagine my surprise but when we got down to the contract signing and found that someone in sales (they tried to blame the saleman Gabe, but I suspect Steve, the sales manager) had tried to stick those on (at full price) even though we had never agreed to anything. I was livid and nearly walked out at that point. I'm a reasonable guy and I'm willing to consider upgrades if they make sense. But to quote one price and then bury the expensive add-ons in the mountain of papers during signing is just dishonest. The car is great - the sales force, not so much. read more

Purchased a car in 2020, and the sales person snuck in small print an alarm system for $2500. When I returned the next day to question the extra charge, the sales person gave me a prepaid maintenance agreement, which they signed for a 5 year and 72K mileage, without charge, in lieu of the $2500. Now, they refuse to honor the contract that they signed and have given me the run around when I took my car in for service. The general manager of this dealership that has yet to return my numerous phone calls to him. Called Hyundai of America, they told me to contact Hyundai of Escondido. Terrible service from the Corporate Hyundai office, down to the dealership. Will be contacting my lawyer to contact them for breach of contract. read more

THIS DEALERSHIP IS DISHONEST! MINUS 10 STARS My daughter took her car in for a service code inspection because the hydraulic system seemed to be having issues. They said she had bad airbags, needed new brakes, and a new headlight. They quoted her around $4000.00. for parts and labor. They listed all the inspections they did such as: adding soapy water to the airbags to see if they were leaking ( which they said they were) as well as a "supposed" brake inspection and a headlight inspection. I disagreed with the price and took the car to a trusted mechanic I've used for years. Upon inspection, he told me that the airbags could not have been tested as they said because they are hidden and they were covered in grease. Additionally, the brakes were fine- no need to replace them, as well as the headlight. It had been disconnected it seems. HMMM? THIS IS A CRIME in my view, and I intend to report them to the Better Business Bereau, and to the State of California for fraud. Seems they take advantage of Single women with ZERO guilt. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIPS SERVICE DEPARTMENT!!!! read more

I purchased a Palisade Limited AWD two weeks ago. My salesperson, Franky, was great. The entire transaction took too long (I was there for a total of 6 hours), but what I really want to warn people about is the attempted scam the Finance person, Juan, tried to pull on me. I was a cash buyer. On 3 separate occasions, I was told how much I would be writing my check out for, and all 3 times I told them, "that's fine, but I'll need to see the breakdown of all the costs." Finally, Juan prints out the purchase contract and puts it in front of me, and he says nothing. I start examining the contract line by line and come across a $995 Saxx Security System. I point that out to Juan and tell him that I never agreed to any additional security system and know nothing about it, and that I will be refusing to buy the car with this added-on item. Juan tells me that Franky told him that he and I had discussed this security system and that I had agreed to it. When I again told him I knew nothing about it and that I won't be buying the car with their security system, he excused himself from the office. 15 minutes later he returns and tells me there was a miscommunication between Franky and him and that Franky made him believe that I had agreed to this security system. BS. Now Juan is trying to put the blame on Franky. I was not born yesterday. Juan's job as a Finance Manager is to make money for the dealership (and himself). I've purchased many new cars and know the game. Here is why I give Juan, and Escondido Hyundai, 1 star. Juan presented me with the contract and said nothing about the added-in security system. He was hoping I would sign the contract and cost myself $995 for a worthless security system. Then he goes and tries to blame the salesperson for this "misunderstanding." What Juan was hoping for was that I was an excited or unsuspecting buyer. He wanted me to blindly sign the contract. Proof of this is the fact that on multiple separate occasions he presented me with a written number that I would write my check for, and this written figure had the BS $995 charge built into it. Sorry for the long rant, but I want to warn buyers of the Finance Manager named Juan and his shady, nee fraudulent, attempt to scam money out of a buyer. Franky the sales person was great, as I had placed a deposit on the incoming Palisade in January before it finally arrived in March. All I can say is, buyer beware and watch your own back if you choose to come here. You're better off going to another location and/or buying a different make of vehicle. The finance department at this location is 100% shady... specifically Juan Martinez. We purchased our vehicle from here, signed all papers, never once was told we could hear from them about more outstanding papers or to expect additional paper work, and drove away with our car. While at the hospital for a family emergency, 10 days after we bought the vehicle, I received a voicemail about an outstanding paper that needed a signature and then a text from the sales person who helped us with the sale... I texted back and said I couldn't make their emergency my emergency. Got an email from the bank with the paper that needed signature... 12 days after we bought the vehicle and the first time we were ever presented with the actual form. I responded right away to let them know I could get to a computer in a couple of days to sign and they said it was fine. Then within two hours of that email, was told "nevermind". And the dealership proceeded to run our credit three more times without our permission or our understanding of what was going on. After calling the finance manager, we were extremely upset, and said there was no way we could have signed while at the hospital, nor known that there was even more paperwork to expect he told us we needed to "see it from his side." Not sure what "side" that is, besides being unethical. They moved forward with the original loan/bank and promised a resolution to removing the additional credit pings, but the finance manager went dark. Tried to get in contact with the GM and first message was ignored. Sent an email and heard from Todd, the "Director of Operations". Was very angry about the situation with him and he said he was "not going to help us," though he did admit that Juan "should have had the form signed the day we purchased the vehicle." Our salesperson, Courtland, was the only positive aspect of our experience. He is courteous and advised us in a knowledgeable manner. However once we began meeting with the upper level salespeople including Sam and Jose, the experience quickly devolved. I will avoid assuming their condescending tone was due to me being a female purchasing a vehicle alone, but regardless this was inappropriate and off putting to say the least. I nearly left the dealership numerous times during the FIVE hours it took to get this deal done. I was continually told things which were untrue (including the fact a hitch was unavailable for this vehicle) and it took my husband intervening to straighten out the "misunderstanding". I have three girl friends searching for Hyundai vehicles this summer and I unfortunately cannot recommend this dealership after my experience here due to Sam and Jose's lack of courtesy and knowledge. read more

I had a bad experience with this location and will NEVER go back. They basically held my car hostage for 3 months and put 200 miles on it but then did nothing to fix it. They saw the transmission issue the day after I brought it in, gave me a loaner and then proceeded to to do nothing. They told me it wasn't doing it enough to get a reading and they needed a "video". I never talked to a manager as they didn't seem to care. After a couple months of nothing, I called Hyundai of America and reported this. They got me my car back after 3 months. I was told when I picked it up it drove fine the whole time they had it and nothing is wrong. The day after I got home, I went out and immediately, the transmission acted up and has ever since. Hyundai of America told me to take it to another dealer which I did. I went to Bob Baker Hyundai in Carlsbad. The Service Manager talked to me and drove it herself. Felt the transmission and immediately put in a request under the warranty for a new one. I got a really nice loaner car and am just waiting for the transmission to come in. Don't buy a car here. My husband and I went today to look at a used car. I would like to say that the sales lady was super sweet and very personable and really seemed to genuinely want to get to know us. Of course, this is a common tactic, that's fine. She's a sweet lady and definitely pulls off the 'good guy' scheme, while her managers are definitely 'bad guy' technique. Finance guy and Manager both came in, both completely ignored me and went straight for my husband. They both came at him rather aggressively and pretty much attempted to put pressure and bullying tactics to get my husband to purchase the car. They gave us the runaround to even give us the Car fax, despite us asking 3 times. They also had refused to negotiate pricing, or payments without running credit checks - despite another dealership not having to. They even attempted to slyly run a credit check, to which we had to flat out tell them no. They are very aggressive, and very bullying if you don't buy on their terms, including their so called mandatory nonnegotiable warranty. They even listed the price of the car online cheaper, but at the dealership there, the price is suddenly raised by 6K. Guess they weren't desperate to sell the car. read more

Short version: They charge everyone $1,200+ for a completely unnecessary alarm that you can't have them take off. I was mislead into thinking that my car didn't come with any warranty so I was bought the extended warranty. After I found out my car already came with a warranty I canceled (less than 3 days after buying). It took 8 MONTHS to get a refund after calling repeatedly the entire time and my refund was still over $160 short. The finance manager Robert is horrible and only cares about his commission. He will do anything to rip you off. Full Version: I went in to buy a 2017 Hyundai Elantra GT last May. Alma the sales woman was very nice and helpful. The problems started when I met with Robert the finance manager to fill out the paperwork. The first problem was the added alarm that they charge over $1200 for. I told Robert I didn't need that but he said it was mandatory. I should've walked out then but I just wanted to buy a car because my old car was dying fast. So you add over $1200 to any price you see listed. Then we came to the warranty. Normally I would never get the extended warranty but I asked Robert if my car came with a factory warranty or any other warranty and he said no. When I confronted him later about this he said that when he said no he meant a bumper to bumper warranty but he knew that's not what I was asking. I ended up getting the warranty because I saw in the paperwork that I could cancel it within 60 days and the money would get refunded to the credit union. After researching the next day I found out my car had a power train warranty from Hyundai and also the 3rd party warranty company I bought had horrible reviews. I decided to cancel the warranty. I tried calling in to cancel but every time I was transferred around or sent to voicemail. I left voicemails but never heard back. I decided to drive there in person to cancel since I also read in the paper work that I would need to sign something. I drove there after work and explained that I wanted to cancel my extended warranty. They told me Robert was helping someone and that he wouldn't be able to talk to me for at least a couple hours. I told them I would wait and I sat down. After only 15 minutes I was led to Roberts office. He tried really hard to convince me not to cancel the warranty. At one point he even offered to drop the price from $3000 to $2000 which just proved to me how worthless it was. I insisted on canceling and he said he would cancel it for me. I asked if I needed to sign for anything and he said no. He said I didn't even need to drive down there to cancel. I tried writing the rest of the story but exceeded the character limit so here's the rest shortened down. I spent the next 8 months trying to get my refund from the dealership. Robert had lied about me not needing to sign anything and eventually had me sign a form. After I did that he sat on it for several months. In the meantime the dealership made contacting him or a manager extremely difficult. So I would leave countless voicemails and messages and almost never hear back. I even got proof of my cancellation in writing to make sure Robert didn't try to say I never canceled. Eventually it got to the point where I had to threaten to contact a lawyer just to get anything done. I spoke to several managers and they all said that they would make sure it was taken care of and to wait but after waiting nothing happened. Finally after 8 months I called in and asked to speak to a manager again. The manager I got was Lee. I explained that I had canceled my warranty 8 months before and that if it wasn't fixed right away I would call a lawyer. He apologized and said the refund got lost in processing and he would have it overnighted. A few days later it finally showed in my account but it was about $160 short. These guys are serious crooks. They quoted me 35,000 dollars for a 29,000 MSRP car, and I ended up purchase the car at a dealership 50 miles away for 24,500 dollars before taxes. Some of the salesmen are honest people but the managers are serious crooks trying to commit fraud against customers. The manager tried the convince me I'm getting a deal by getting a 27,000 dollar loan, and have 8,000 dollar down. He said, "you are only paying 27,000 dollars out of the door for this car. The 8,000 dollar is just down payment so it's not part of the price". Does he really think customers are that stupid? Maybe he can scam some poor older folks but come on now. If I could rate a zero star I would, but I give it at least one because of the few sales persons. I was told and even showed one price and get there and it's $5k more then what I was told. So disappointed. Then the person that killed the entire experience was STEVE ENGLE. This piece of work, was the epitome of someone that could careless about customer service. He basically tried to make me feel like either buy the car I don't buy the car I'll just sell it to someone else anyway. The next day I had to take the car back, because there was an issue on the passenger seat, and again Steve tried basically tell me oh well leather does that just take it you bought it already. So I explain to him know if it's an issue I told you before I left, and you're going to fix it it's my money that paying for the car not yours. Almost as if he thinks that I have the word full stamp to my forehead. I do not recommend this dealership to anyone, especially military personnel. Please be aware of Steve Engle, if your company values customer service he should be reprimanded, and trained better on customer service. This place will never see my business again and would recommend others to find an alternative. We normally go to Poway Hyundai for our car services but due to them shutting down for a couple of months (something about licensing issues) we had no choice but to bring our car somewhere else. Reviews weren't great at most places, so we decided to go based on convenience. My wife and I drove to Escondido Poway in separate cars. She went to check in our Hyundai while I stayed in my car with my 2 year old. After about 15 minutes, she called me to tell me that it's going to be around $700-$800. We have prepaid maintenance, so she didn't understand and neither did I. After going into the service center, I found out that they were trying to up-sell her on a bunch of services she did not need as we already took care of them. Then on top of that, she mentioned to them that she has a high pitch rattling sound when her ac is on. (This noise starts to drive you crazy after being in the car for a while) They said it would be $165 to investigate the issue but that money would go to resolving the issue which we were okay with at the time as we really wanted it fixed. When we came back to pick up the car, they said they were unable to locate or hear the issue. $165 is a lot of money for us so when I asked what they did to investigate it, it was basically them turning on the car and driving it around for a little. I could have done that and if I had known that's all they would do, I would have kept my $165. To top it all off, the service manager did nothing to put me at ease or try to figure out how to make me, the customer, happy. Hoping this review will save other a few bucks and time by avoiding this place. If you're looking for a Hyundai dealership, we've been very happy with Poway Hyundai. If you are buying electric vehicle, make sure you ask for clean fuel reward. It was never offered to me as this reward. I got the same amount as an additional discount only if I agree to stay with their Finance. They would also sell you non negotiable dealer add on security feature which Hyundai owners manual recommends not to add other systems to the security system. Plus dealer mark up which I understand you have to pay in this market, but that is also high. If you can avoid this dealer, please do. Before Christmas 2019, my car's check engine light was blinking and the next day I felt the accelerator was malfunction, so I called blue link from the car and asked if I can go to any Hyundai dealer in LA as I was in LA but the agent that took the call said I had to go to Escondido Hyundai because that's my home dealer. She set up an appointment at 3:30pm the next day, 12/20/19. I got there at Escondido Hyundai Friday Dec 20th at 2:30pm - 1 HOUR EARLY than my appointment only to find out 30 minutes later (because I was waiting for the agent and she was inputting my information in the computer) their mechanics are ALL LEAVING in 30 minutes, they couldn't give me a loaner because they were out of the loaner cars, they couldn't give me a rental car for free because no guarantee HYUNDAI would pay them back, so I had to pay the rental car $30 per day for only God knew how many days it's going to be. Then the agent said there was NOTHING they could do, they only could change the oil, I said ok please change the oil, then few minutes later she said - ooo sorry can't even do the oil change for free because your care package has expired.... I was more concern about my safety as the car lost the power at every red light, I was so upset and then the manager came to me to supposedly help me - few minutes later after I explained my situation - he said THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO. I called my boyfriend as I was too upset to find another Hyundai dealer nearby and it's getting close to closing time for most of the dealers, bad traffic on Fridays closer to Christmas, what a mess!!!!! My boyfriend called Bob Baker Hyundai that told him to tell me to rush there, they showed a genuine empathy when they heard my check engine light was blinking and said they will give me a rental car for free because Hyundai COVERS the rental. I drove to BOB BAKER HYUNDAI and the whole process until I got my rental car was less than 30 minutes, didn't spend a single penny!!!! They apologized for the possibility to fix the car was longer than usual due to the holidays but I could use the rental car during that time. SO, THERE WAS SOMETHING THEY COULD HAVE DONE!!!!
