On 10/25/19 I took my car to get serviced. Chris from the Servicing "helped" me. He ordered the parts and let me know it would be delivered on "Tuesday 10/29 or maybe Wednesday 10/30" Well it's not Sunday 11/3 and my car still hasn't gotten serviced! Since when do the customers have to call for updates? He has my contact number and should have called me on Tues or Wednesday to give me an update instead I had to call him (Thursday) for updates. I left him a voicemail asking for updates. He said he'll let me know when he receives the parts "in his hot little hands". Well it's now Sunday and my car still has issues. Never have I felt more disgusted leaving a dealership. I called the dealer and specifically asked if the sticker was what I would pay. The person that I spoke to said there would be no add on's and that the sticker was what I could pay. We went in to discussed numbers and there was no paper with a breakdown of payment cost, just verbal negotiation. Once we got the breakdown after being suspicious of the price, we realized it was a bait and switch after I got there and there was a $2000 alarm non refundable added the price as well as other add ons but was never revealed until I asked for a itemized review of the payment. My overall experience is one of frustration. I booked a fairly modest warranty repair over a month in advance but when I brought it in it took two days to even get it started. I could have had the use of my car for that time. Five hours or so worth of work cost me three days, with no loaner available. Felt very pressured to make a decision the whole time. They did not seem to care what I wanted and instead just wanted to make a sale. I made it clear multiple times I didn't want a base model but that didn't seem to matter. Actual sales person was friendly and willing to show me the car and test drive but the manager was micromanaging him the whole time and it was very uncomfortable to watch. LET THE BUYER BEWARE!!! I have to admit, I fell into the same trap other reviewers have described. DON'T FALL TRAPS IN FINANCE! CRAMMED "OPTIONS":I found hybrid that I liked, said, "let's write it up". We did the paperwork in finance, and I thought the final total was a little high. The finance guy said, "No it all adds up. It's more expensive because it's a hybrids". I signed, paid, and went home happy. The next day I scrutinized the paperwork. There were "options" added including an augmented alarm system for $1,395 and a $3,500 extended warranty...and my signature :( ! So I overpaid almost $6,000 for items listed as "options". #!@%&$. TIME AS A WEAPON I went back next day, Friday, and as you might expect my finance guy was "out". I waited 1 1/2 hr for another who listened to my complaint and request for money back on the options. He said he'd call me after speaking with the manager on Monday. No call. On Tuesday I called back and he seemed annoyed, said he was with a customer, and he'd call back.....no call. Wednesday I went in and he was "busy", another finance guy talked with me and said he'd check with the manager, but didn't come back. After an hour I insisted on speaking with the sales manager. Now, 5:30, the sales manager was polite, listened, and said he could get the warranty refunded, but I was absolutely stuck with the security device. I pointed out that the device was not listed on the sticker or on a supplementary sticker. He said the salesman was "trained" to tell me about it. If he did tell me, I don't remember, and I he certainly did not tell me it cost extra! I am grateful that I did receive a check for $3,500 from the dealership as a refund for the warranty. I'm still sore about the enhanced security add on, but at least the $3,500 is a compromise and I consider the $1,300 as an expensive lesson. What I learned: Use the dealership to test drive the car. Consider using Costco or similar to buy the car. Be willing to wait for the vehicle. DON'T GET GUTTED IN FINANCE: If you do buy at the dealership don't get gutted in finance. Read everything and be on the lookout for items that are crammed on the bill. Don't buy "optional" items unless you want them. If the dealer says, "they're already installed, you have to buy them"...DON'T. They can always remove the item or reduce the price of the car to make up for it if they want to sell the vehicle to you. Or you can go elsewhere. Finally, even if you've bought a few cars in the past, remember the finance department is their lair. This is their game. They have the experience and the home field advantage. They use time as a weapon to wear you down. Some advice: bring a friend or relative to double check everything and have rules agreed in advance as to when to pull you out! Read, read, read...and then sign. All said, the Santa Fe hybrid is a great car, the sales manager was a gentleman, but the dealership/finance office policy is extremely sneaky. When you show-up for your complimentary maintenance, they will tell you that you either don't have enough miles to qualify for the scheduled maintenance or that you have gone over by too many miles for the complimentary service. I had the worst experience with buying a car from Hyundai of Escondido. My husband and I have bought many cars in the past 35 years and this was by far the most dishonest, sneaky, and underhanded dealership ever. I started working with Serje and he, along with the his sales manager, Steve Engel, came up with a deal for me after 2 1/2 hours of negotiations. Then the next day, they sent me the deal. I told Serje that I was coming in to buy the car and then the "bait and switch" happened. I was told that I needed to pay another 3500.00 and that the original deal was never approved. The next sales manager came in and told me that I had to buy the "optional" platinum protection plan or the car wasn't mine. I told them I didn't want the optional plan, and they wouldn't sell me the car. Both Serje and Steve E., along with everyone else I talked to, didn't care that they had sent me the deal, they weren't going to honor it. They don't care at all about customer service or their clients. According to the next sales manager I talked to, Steve made the mistake by sending me the deal without getting it approved. Again, they didn't care about their customer. I should have looked at the BBB reviews first because they are a D-. No company can get lower than that. Saw a car online and came in to test drive it, I was helped by José on the lot. When it came down to actually purchasing the car they were doing every scummy used car dealership trick in the book. He was giving me the "sale" price about $1200 above what it was advertised online, luckily I had it saved to my phone so they were forced to honor it. From there though they tried to screw me with these dealer added options- they try and sell you this $1300 pre installed security system that they absolutely will NOT remove from the car or the invoice. Just bought a brand new sonata hybrid limited from Michael Lopez. He was such a joy to work with very genuine and enjoys helping people! However my experience after a month of owning my vehicle has been far from great! In my contract we agreed including the GM that I would have 16 business days to put my down payment as I was selling my car to carvana and waiting for the title. I was very transparent about this and they still pushed the deal to happen. My lesson for not having my down payment that same day I have always brought money up front for purchase and this is why. Why would you send me a letter when I have been calling to run the payment since 5/24 I even had to go back to the dealer which I live 30 minutes away to resign a contract you all messed up on and then it turned out being the same thing because they sent a paper contract to the lender instead of digital when I signed a digital copy originally!! See when you are so concerned about numbers and quotas you forget about the customer service, when the customers you get make your JOB! They will be the ones getting you returning business. On 6/22/24 I had issues with my car not picking up speed and shaking while driving a major freeway. The same day I had an issues starting the car. When it finally started the engine light came on with a notice on my screen. Dealership replaced fuel injector. Stating that was the problem. Again, on 7/27/24 the same issues happened. Another fuel injector replaced by dealship. The car is 2 and half years old, under 30,000 miles. 2 of my fuel injector have been replaced. I do not feel safe for other drivers and myself driving the freeway with the hyundai santa cruz. Due to the fuel injectors that randomly keeps giving out. They replace 1 at a time. I feel like hyundai is waiting for a big accident before they replaced all of them. There are multiple complaints that I have seen regarding this problem. They need to be investigated thoroughly, people's lives are in danger. I don't know much about vehicles, but if a car continues to stall, vibrate and stop at anytime it will cause an accident. On top of that, they are not working in good faith. KODI SPICER does not know the meaning of customer service. He told me that he can probably squeeze me in at the end of the day because I do not have an appointment. First of all, Brandon was great. He listened, seemed sincere in wanting to help, and legitimately cared about my problem. Unfortunately, he was not given the tools or authority to do his job well. Management at Hyundai of Escondido, and especially the corporate Hyundai office, were woefully unhelpful. Hyundai of Escondido held my car for 10 days while not completing any work to fix my engine. They refused to provide a loaner or rental car, despite holding my car for 10 days. 10 days my wife was without a car. I brought my car in with a problem obviously having to do with the engine. Bad noise, low power, and burning all the oil in only 1000 miles - a known, but unacknowledged problem with many of Hyundai's cars. Hyundai Corporate refused to cover the 10k replacement of their defective engine (because they're ignoring that it's their fault for a bad design). I was quoted 2k to "inspect" the engine for the root cause before Corporate would even consider covering the expense. A reasonable ask. But Hyundai of Escondido refused to cover (or write off as they should have done) the inspection. I would be on the hook for 2k, with no guarantee of a root cause, a fix, or covered expenses. I was refused a refund of 167 I paid to diagnose the problem. No diagnosis was provided. I was told the problem was "somewhere inside the engine" and somehow that counted as a "diagnosis" Manager was on leave for at least 3 days (Fri-Sun) without a DOA or assistant manager to make decisions Service reps given zero authority to make the situation "right" I cannot recommend this location.
