The AYCE dinner is my go to. I've gone several times with friends and had some great food! The super California roll has been our favorite in addition to the fresh sashimi. Dinner is about 10$ more than lunch and the main difference is the addition of the sashimi, fish kamas, and teriyaki options. There are a few more rolls and nigiri options such as hamachi nigiri, tobiko, ikura. The business is always quite busy but the servers still give great service. The food is brought out at a decent pace and the servers are responsive to any needs such as coming to check on if you want to order more food, need more water, and helping take away finished dishes. Other favorites: Hamachi Kama, Sesame Balls (has red bean inside), Wakame Salad Decent amount of vegetarian options from AYCE. The options are roughly the same for lunch and dinner AYCE. Recommendations: Yam Roll and Inari Rolls The ambiance could be better as there's usually quiet music playing that gets blocked out by the amount of people coming in to pick up to-go orders. But overall if you're there with friends, the background noise isn't too distracting. My partner kept telling me to try this place out the next time I visited her, and so I did. Not going to lie, this place was pretty good. The service could be a little better, but they serve thick sashimi cuts for their dinner menu. It tasted pretty solid to me (not too fishy). Usually, other ayce sushi shops will serve thinly cut sashimis with overwhelming sauces. I Love Sushi recently opened up for AYCE after years of shutting down due to the pandemic. Their sushi is really tasty and the fish is fresh. One of my favorite sushi spots, however, this place gets a 1 star due to my last visit. The waitress was rude because she would slam our plates on the table, check in with my table every 30 minutes, and when my friend and I requested extra napkins, she didn't end up giving them! Also, we ordered miso soup, but that was the last order to come out (the picture I posted shows that there's no miso soup yet). Also, for a party of 2, a 15% gratuity is automatically added to your bill, and they will still have the option to add additional tips on your receipt. We were craving sushi today and the place nearest us had a 40 minute wait! So we drove and found this place. Lots and lots of open parking! In observance of covid rules, only one customer can go in at a time since the entrance is narrow. Very impressive menu, everything looked good. So even though we were focused on ordering sushi, we were easily distracted with Fried Chicken! Someone needs to add this place to the Davis Fried Chicken Collection on Yelp because seriously, it was only $5.50 for delicious and generous portion of wings. The crunch effect was bomb! They got it right :) But back to the sushi for which they are named...we ordered the salmon roll. It is totally worth the wait for fresh, buttery salmon with just ripe avo. So delicious! ok, I had to come back here on yelp and write another review based on my experience tonight, Anna/Ana (im not sure how to spell it) was amazing honestly beyond amazing. She greeted us with 2 mins of walking through the door and walked us to our table. immediately she asked us what we would like to drink and dropped off our drinks and gave us time to look at the menu. she comes back about 3-4 mins later asking if we were all ready to order and we had gotten 2 salmon avocado and chirashi donburi and OH MY GOSH!!! When I tell you the chirashi don was TOO GOOD! the tilapia (Izumidai) & salmon (Sake) was my favv. Then our server came to check on us about two times during our meal and she was super sweet and even apologized for our first dine in experience here which wasn't even her fault. we will definitely be coming back Tuesday nights just because of our amazing server & delicious sushi!!! I have only ever gotten take out from I Love Sushi, even before the shelter in place. My two most recent visits have been during the COVID shutdown where I discovered their 4 rolls for $30 deal. I like that they give you a good amount of sashimi and don't skimp on it like some places do. The second time we ordered the 4 rolls for $30 deal we actually wanted to order the same exact order as the first time, but we accidentally ordered something else and it was still good. My personal favorite was the domo arigato with the seared fish on top. I know this place isn't super authentic sushi, but I wasn't expecting it from a place called "I Love Sushi"... I know I will be coming here again the next time I crave sushi. I even read that there is AYCE sushi, so I might come back when their restaurant is open for seating again! :) read more

Service is amazing, the food is not good though, fried foods are overly fried, too much rice in the Nigiri, and they serve 8 pieces per roll which means you can try less of their rolls. The sushi rice is warm which always a bad sign, sushi rice is supposed to be cold and vinegary, both of which these rolls were not. The green salad I got may have been bought from Walmart meaning really low quality. We had the all you can eat dinner on a Wednesday evening for $35.99. It includes appetizers and a select menu you can pick from. Service was quick and efficient. The food was just okay. I had a salmon and avocado hand roll that came out quickly and was decent. Miso soup was a little bland and watery, not a very strong miso flavor. Tempura shrimp did not use tempura batter, more like bread crumbs so was disappointing. Gyoza was fried and okay, nothing special. The hamachi Kama was pretty good and probably the star of the dinner we ate. We tried 4 different sashimi and a rainbow roll. The sashimi was decent and the roll was good. The portions for both were generous and we could not finish. They asked us to pay $10 for a to go box of our leftovers which seemed absurd given we did not over-order and the sashimi order came with 2 pieces per person per order so was too much food for us to finish. The waitress was nice enough to make an exception after speaking to her manager and didn't charge us extra to take the leftovers to go. I would understand the additional charge if we ordered the sushi and roll after ordering and eating lots of other food as an abuse of the AYCE system but that wasn't our case. We love this place because of their vegetarian roll options! They have creative, interesting vegetarian options other than the standard "veggie roll" or "avocado roll". We have never tried the "all you can eat" option because it does not appear economical for vegetarians. The wakame roll and the inari roll are our favorite! We chose this place because it seemed like the only AYCE place in Davis that offers sashimi, and we didn't want to go wait until we were in the Bay Area for sushi. We got seated immediately on a Sunday night, and service was prompt and the servers were really nice. I feel like at a lot of AYCE places, the servings are really big, but here you can specify how much you want in each serving so you can try a lot of different options (For example, I could ask for how many pieces of tempura I wanted. Not sure if this applies to the rolls though). I tried a lot of the appetizers. The miso soup, combination tempura and the agedashi tofu. The fried options were piping hot and super fresh, but the shrimp tempura doesn't have a tempura coating, it's more like breadcrumbs. The batter on the tofu was really light and perfect, we ended up getting another order. The soup was good too, great on a cold night and refreshing in between other bites. I also got the Super California roll, tuna nigiri, salmon skin temaki and the salmon collar (sake kama). The star of the show was definitely the salmon collar; it was also really hot, cooked perfectly and had nice fatty bits. The Super California roll and tuna nigiri were great as well, not too filling but it satisfied a sushi craving, and the tuna wasn't fishy at all. Salmon skin temaki was good too, but it got oushined by everything else. My partner ended trying more raw options. He ordered 12 pieces of the salmon sashimi and 6 of the hamachi. Again, everything was really fresh, and the slices were really thick and generous. The hamachi was pink too, which is always a good sign. The price was about what you'd expect for sushi, and the waitress kindly gave us some edamame on the house. For those of you planning on attending the all you can eat, the lunch price is a much better deal, and they do charge you if you do not finish a plate. Their rolls looking around were fairly large, so when ordering, be specific as to how much you want if you think you can't finish it. I called in advance to ensure they were open and so I quickly made a reservation. The AYCE price is $21.99 on a weekday, and $22.99 for the weekend or holidays. We made a reservation and showed up for dinner on 7/4. We were seated immediately and the waitress gave us menus and asked what we wanted to drink. The waitresses there were so friendly and came in to check on us every few minutes. They have a self-serve salad bar area with seaweed salad, mussel, wasabi, ginger, dessert etc. They have such a wide range of food you can order for AYCE - including fried assortment like curly fries, tempera, fried oyster, stuffed mushrooms, etc. They also have plenty of sashimi included in the menu along with hand rolls, udon, bento, etc. Absolutely love the assortment and portions for the price. Their rolls are pretty similar across the board with a few different toppings on the sushi or sauce. Overall, loved the food, service, price, and value. I would definitely come back here. Why are all the good AYCE places in Davis?! (seriously doe) I came here with Huryoung and Allen on a Sunday brunch. Luckily we came around 11:30 am, because the line was starting to form once we sat down! (We actually had to get on the waitlist for about 10 min when we arrived.) Pro tip 1: come on Saturday! They have some really cheap deal ($16/person for AYCE). However, Sunday was around $22/person (still worth it). Pro tip 2: the salad bar is in the back corner! Check it out to get your standard seaweed salad, edamame, oranges, kimchi, desserts, etcetera. Pro tip 3: unheard of, but order the cooked rolls first! Those take a while to come out. We ended up getting a lot of SASHIMI (WOWWW) and NIGIRI, and a couple other types of rolls. So much better than the Sushi Unlimited that used to be here. This place is buzzing with activity - we stopped in on a Saturday evening and had no idea this was an AYCE. The menu is super in depth (all the appetizers - we had cream cheese wontons, crispy gyoza, tempura, calamari - all the nigiri sushi, handrolls, they even have chicken teriyaki, udon noodle soup, specialty rolls... it's incredible!) They also have a side buffet with desserts (cream puffs, chocolate cake, peaches), edamame, oysters, ginger, wasabi, kim chee). They don't like waste though so they ask you how many pieces of each thing that you want - and that's actually great because sometimes I just want 2 handrolls and that's all. The signs say they will charge you $5 for food that is wasted. I'm not sure how that works because we ate it all (mwah hahahahahah) and it was delicious. We will be back. read more

My go-to Sushi restaurant in Davis before COVID hit!! I LOVED their All You Can Eat Sushi AND SASHIMI for ~$30. I would fill myself up on so much raw fish, and the quality was actually amazing for the price and the deal!! I miss it quite dearly. During COVID, we instead opt for the 4 rolls for $35 to split between two people. We always get the King Kong roll, because it tastes amazing!!! Not sure what they did to it, but you can feel and taste the sweet sear of the sushi before it makes contact with your mouth. I still have yet to experience anything quite like it. However, careful not to eat too much or you will feel sick from the sweetness haha. It is definitely quite heavy. Their other rolls are also pretty good, such as the Honey Walnut Shrimp. But gosh I miss their sashimi deal. They certainly had a lot of non-sushi dishes on the menu for one restaurant, but everything is done pretty well somehow. Nearly every roll is covered in a weird thick sauce and yet the flavors just don't mesh or enhance the roll. I'm not sure if it's too much rice, too long of rolls, or the amount of plain "crab" they stuff in or on the roll that fills you up so much that you can't try different things. Even the wings had no flavor, although pleasantly crispy. We tried the spicy salmon, volcano, "something" hills (I forget), and the hamachi Kama. Waitstaff is still getting used to the ordering system, but that's to be expected. Everything tasted really fresh and we were definitely impressed. Our server was very nice and attentive, but the other one who helped us once a while wasn't. 2) SO MANY CHOICES! I am surprised their lunch includes udon and so many other things, I think that's very nice of them! 3) Sushi is good! I wasn't going to leave a review as I felt bad, but seeing as its had a few 5-star ratings I feel okay balancing that out with my experience. So, we had fantastic service, mostly. Our waitress was nice and attentive. She had a very tough time with my onion allergy though, so that was tough. She was great to correct it though each time. Mostly, I just didn't like the food...at all. For example, my chicken wing still had a feather on it. It was marinated in yellow mustard (wasn't great), and the sashimi tasted old and now my stomach hurts. The beef didn't have much flavor and everything was very underwhelming. The fruit was also all from a can. But, others seamed to enjoy it so I implore you to give it a try. I hate giving 2-star reviews and hope I'm wrong. P.s. I got a free walk scroll. That was cool. Great spot for AYCE sushi! Fresh Sashimi is also included on the menu. Everything is made to order except for the salad bar. The small salad bar provides a variety of side dishes like Seaweed, Jellyfish, Kim-Chi, Squid, Lemon and more. While the place serves mainly Japanese items, you will find a few Korean items on the menu like Bi Bim Bap. lol I think it's an additional plus. Some favorite items on the menu included Shrimp Tempura, fresh sashimi and the Taoyaki (Octopus Balls). The taoyaki was legit gooey and not at all filled with dense dough. It was soo good, I had two orders of this by myself. My hubby and I share two rolls and honestly we wish we had a larger party to try out more rolls. Staff is friendly and service was great! I went here recently by myself on a weekday for the ayce dinner. There weren't too many people so I was seated promptly. The server was nice and attentive. The food came out in a timely manner. I like that when you place an order you can specify the quantity of the items that you order (e.g. the amount of sashimi pieces that you want). All the food was decent. The offerings here are slightly different from Fujis so it was a nice change. Oddly when I got my check they automatically added the 15% tip, which I was going to give then anyways. prior to the pandemic, i love sushi offered an all you can eat buffet style. the selection of rolls were pretty good and diverse, but the overall flavor was mediocre. they stopped the AYCE once the pandemic hit and just recently brought it back while introducing a redesigned menu! the rolls and nigiris taste even better, fresher, and flavorful than they did before which is what would make this spot a solid 4/5. however, the reason why this place gets a 1 star is because of their poor quality in service. although the sushi chefs are extremely polite, the servers are a huge hit or miss. one day you may get a server who isn't too bad and another visit you can get a server who is just plain unwelcoming and rude. to me... the service, environment, and ambiance of a place all contributes greatly to the experience, taste, and quality of food. unfortunately, i love sushi lacks in one area more than the other. as much as i am a sucker for AYCE sushi, i will not be coming back. read more
