Updating my earlier review - I really enjoy the food here. The robot servers are gone, which is fine with me. The prices have gone up since my last report which is expected. The offered food is better than any other sushi in the area. Anytime I visit Newport you can find me in this place getting my sushi crave filled. I visit the package store and grab a can of Sapporo beer then I stride in and fill up on beautifully created food. The staff are super helpful and attend to me swiftly, like they can read my mind before I'm thinking. Great spot every time. read more

We were seated right away and ordered the sushi & sashimi deluxe, shrimp tempura roll, and the Best Friends roll. Overall, the sushi was good. The salmon roll was definitely the freshest and yummiest one. Some of the nigiri and sashimi didn't taste fresh, so order those at your own risk. The food was affordable and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, the service really brought the experience down. Our server felt unprofessional and disinterested. He never refilled our waters and didn't seem like he wanted to be there. Is not clear to me how many days a week they do all you can eat, but it am sure it is well advertised as many ppl were just doing a la carte. They are byob. The sushi itself was good, some pieces better than others. The fried stuff like the potstickers were OK, but better off to save room for sushi itself. Very reasonably priced sushi. Good service. Owners seemed very sweet and friendly. My friend and I went for a light snack and we split 3 rolls. Hubby & I were spending a romantic weekend in Newport & wanted to chow down on some sushi. Not that many options on the island but we love a good AYCE sushi restaurant so we decided to check out I M Sushi. We went at lunchtime but opted to spend a little more money & try the dinner AYCE menu, mostly so we could have some sashimi. Lots of choices, tons of fun & unique rolls, loved all the tobiko options - the wasabi tobiko was killer! The restaurant is nothing fancy but the staff was super attentive. BYOB with a liquor store in the shopping center - they will warm up sake for you which was a nice touch. Also, tons of parking which is a plus in Newport. My only slight criticism is that some of the specialty rolls are really big so it is a HUGE mouthful. That being said, we will definitely go back when we are in Newport! read more

If you want tuna doused with Sriracha and wrapped in poorly prepared sushi rice, then this is the place for you. Quite possibly the worst spicy tuna roll I've ever had. One poorly prepared item can ruin an entire meal. I'm so disappointed because I'm trying to support local businesses during the pandemic. This is one of the few all you can eat sushi spots I've found in Newport. If your new to sushi and want to try a bunch of different things this is your spot. Appetizers are included in you AYCE pricing. The low point was the "special cooked" rolls. While they are plated nicely they are bland. They tasted the same, tooooo much tempura batter which gave the other flavors in the roll no chance. The raw dishes are definitely their thing. All very fresh tasting, all presented nicely, not too much rice, Flavors were excellent. I find it odd that they don't present the menu to describe what's in the rolls, you have to ask for that. Once you go to Japan and eat fresh sushi from the sushi experts, it's hard to level back and adjust expectations elsewhere. Nevertheless we met some friends here for lunch and as soon as I heard "all you can eat" I knew we would be in for an experience. To start, all four of us ate for a total of about $60 which tells you about the quality and care they put into their product. We placed our orders on paper sheets and were greeted by nobody and not addressed by anyone on staff which was curious. Among the items we had were some very heavy, soggy and oil soaked tempura, some very flat soup, and perhaps the most unimpressive tamago I've ever had. This last item in particular made me the most sad, as tamago making is quite the art and some train for years to perfect this skill. Overall, I was unimpressed with the service, the quality of the food, and the presentation. I do however give it an extra star due to the quantity of food for one price, which for some is the entire reason they come here. In which case, I would say this is a good deal for them...just not for me. A sad claim on sushi indeed, but as long as you're coming for quantity and not quality, you should be ok. read more

Brief Line Up Front: All You Can Eat Sushi joint with BYOB for alcohol. Seriously, not expensive and the salmon tastes fresh. Tuna in the U.S.A. is always suspect, but better than a lot of places I have had that cost more... Wish I could give 3.5. Wife and I come here when I want to eat sushi because (a) I am too used to Japan and American sushi is bland in comparison (mayo does not go on sushi), (b) I don't feel ripped off paying $10 for nigiri that tastes worse than $1 nigiri in Japan, and (c) want a place where I can eat my fill of sushi that I don't think is a waste of money. This is not "amazing" sushi. This is great budget sushi and I would stick to the salmon and the rolls. You can order from the cooked menu items but they are mostly pre-packaged fair. People who complain about this place obviously don't understand there is very little difference on how this tastes vs other U.S.A. sushi joints. All U.S.A. joints use CO2 in the cases which prolongs the color and life of the fish (I hate this), use pre-packaged sushi rice seasoning (I hate this), and use frozen fish (don't mind this). During meal hours the wait is a little long so I recommend grabbing a late lunch or early dinner here, which makes it quicker on the orders. Wife and I have a 1 year old, so going at 4:30-5:00 is perfect to be able to put the little guy to bed on time. I will go back to scratch my sushi itch. Best sushi and prices! I come here all the time and it's never a disappointment. They're fast, efficient and the sushi is always so fresh! Good size and tasty rolls. All you can eat for $35 per person is AMAZING and you may as well just get that since they have a good variety of options on there.
