Such a cute place to have dinner! We split a bottle of wine and a few pastas and it was so great!!

My husband and I were walking the streets of Florence on our first night and decided to try this spot just blocks from our hotel. Great environment right on the main strip. My husband's pesto was delicious but my seafood risotto was more reminiscent of rice with bits of seafood. I've had delicious risotto in the states and all over Italy but this dish is more rice for sure and lacks flavor. Service was lovely and attentive and wine and dessert were great! Would recommend but opt for carbonara or something else next time. read more

We stumbled around Florence after being across the river at a museum. We were looking for a place to eat on our way to another museum. This place was great. Comfortable inside, comfortable outside, very friendly service. Prices were great and the staff was very attentive. I enjoyed a nice, intimate dinner here on a cold night on the patio. It was, of course, my choice to sit outside. It was part of my whole "experiencing Italy" alone crusade. I Tre Merli was located literally one street parallel to my apartment, so I gave it a chance. I met a very nice waiter (from Portugal) who chatted with me and made sure I had everything I needed. I enjoyed gnocchi with fresh ground mozzarella. Although I don't typically smoke, I enjoyed being alone in the fresh cold air and having a nice cigarette after my meal. It was nice to be able to be alone and not feel like a sad weirdo. I wish more places like this existed, except, of course, where I live in Seattle. read more

After the debacle that ensued at the first restaurant from which we attempted to gain sustenance, this place could have served us tiny plates of gruel and we'd have been impressed. All of the restaurants were closing for the afternoon but we stumbled toward Tre Merli with fingers crossed. The young, energetic waiter was more than happy to seat us and offer us menus. Romeo noted that other tables were served water after aggressively calling out for some. So he adopted the same tactic and loudly (but nicely) asked the young man for some Chianti and lemon soda. He smiled and brought some straight away. He also offered us water. Therefore, we dubbed him a saint and the best waiter in Florence. Again, this was immediately after and in direct comparison to our torture session at La Grotta di Leo. We ordered three small pizzas and awaited our food. Meanwhile, I used the wash room which was tidy (good sign) and noted that several others were filing inside the restaurant. Our happy waiter served three pizzas that were well baked albeit misshapen. The crust was crispy but not too charred. The ingredients were basic but fresh. The mushrooms were plain white mushrooms. The ham was deli-style processed ham. But really, it could have been a threesome of frozen pizzas imported from a warehouse in South Jersey and we'd have greedily eaten it and thanked the man profusely. But in seriousness, it was good. Not 'this is the best pizza in the world good'. But good enough to satisfy our hunger and not fill us full of regret. So why three stars? Well, it's been 24 hours since our meal. We've had time to sleep soundly and recover our wits in addition to having a chance to sample other foods around town. In hindsight, the wonderful server was the highlight of the meal. He was attentive and friendly. The food was average; not bad and not amazing. So here's the deal. If you find yourself in Florence during the middle of the afternoon when every other restaurant is closed to prepare for dinner service, then go to Tre Merli. You'll have a good meal in a tidy restaurant and be served well. But if you are looking for an excellent place to dine during the traditional local lunch window, you'll frankly find more exquisite food elsewhere. read more

The familia and I just came back here from lunch (they were the few that was open today due to Italy's national holiday [Feast of the Assumption] and we got lucky with this option! For all you American tourists, yes they speak English (at least our lady server did) and they were so friendly! Second, their prices were reasonable especially for their oh so good pizza! I kept it simple with their marinara pizza and they sure didn't disappoint! It was crispy, well seasoned and I was savoring each bite, no really I did! It melted in my mouth and yes, I finished it! I forgot what the rest of my family got but I had a few bites of their entrees and they were delicious as well! I don't know why the reviews are bad but I guess that's another "hit or miss" type of deal with people and their taste buds. Just remember this girl (me) love thin crust pizzas and for you Bay Area folks, think Little Star goodness but thinner and lighter and of course the legit way to make a marinara pizza ;) read more

Popped in while waiting for our hotel room to be ready, ordered Bruschetta and a 1/2 bottle of the white house wine. Sadly, the bruschetta was disappointing. All the bruschetta i've has in Italy so far has been extremely fresh, bright with flavor and this one just didn't hit the bar. As far as the house wine goes, DELICIOUS. Refreshing, chilled, and balanced. The service was - soso, she didn't seem to excited to be here. We didn't order anything from the rest of the menu so I don't have much else to go on so i'll leave it 3 stars. read more

I thought the service was solid. Our very cute waiter recommended a house wine I much enjoyed. The ambiance is more or less inviting - dark, warm, rich red. Still, now knowing of the other wonderful restaurants in the area, my friend and I are sorry we came. How do you get bread wrong? It was virtually taste-free. I'm hardly a foodie - I'll eat a Celeste pizza for lunch and consider it a treat for a dollar - but when in Italy I never expected to encounter any pizza that reminded me of such mediocrity, and theirs did. The vegetables on it were good and fresh, and I finished the whole thing - the sauce was sharp and sweet - but it's not good when your pizza reminds you of the frozen discount variety. My friend was disappointed in his steak and roasted potatoes. I tasted the potatoes and agreed - pretty unexciting, no real flavor. He is never one to complain, and I felt bad seeing him not enjoy his meal. Not an altogether terrible place, and we liked our waiter, but we would not recommend or return. Garbage. I ordered the "fish soup" which had mussels, clams and whole shrimps. The clams were all broken and half of the mussels weren't open. The waiter told me it was because it was "fresh". Right... And the risotto they use clearly wasn't arborio rice. They get two stars because they took my entree off the bill and because the wine was good. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! Horrible service!! The waiter would just go stand outside and never even look at us when we wanted to order. We asked for a coke and they brought it in a glass (rather than can). Tasted weird. Then he cavorted us €4 for it and said, I gave you a big size because you would ask for more later!! When we complained at the end, he said, "this is not my restaurant and I only work here!!". what a horrible worker who is always standing by the door like a owner and never does actual work!! Lasagna was smaller than palm of my hand. The service charge was fix €2 per person which depending on what you eat is way more than standard percentage charge! Rudest customer service we've had during our entire trip in Italy. We stopped in here for coffee. Our friend got a cappuccino and we ordered a croissant for my daughter. While my husband payed, I went went to the bathroom. When I returned the lady working there proceeded to give me a lecture/yell at me for not asking to use the restroom. Stunned, I stammered that I was with my husband and that we bought food. She continued to scold me and said that this was not a public restroom. I've never seen someone get so pissed about a trip to the bathroom. It want like I walked into her house and used it. We were paying customers! If you want friendly service and good coffee go somewhere else. She never gave our friend a stir stick or spoon for his coffee.. I think I know where the stick was... avoid this place and it's rude, grouchy barista. read more

Just a really awful place. Uncaring service. Uninspired food. Cheeky decor. So ticked that I wasted a dinner here. First the greeter/server told me it was too hot to be seated outside. Why have the tables there? Branzino was frozen, not fresh. Tasteless. Shredded carrots and zucs smothered in oil underneath. Cold tomato chunks thrown on the plate. Gross. Menu said fresh spinach with garlic and chili. We all know what that looks like. What I got was a plate full of frozen spinach with raw garlic and no chili. We also know what that looks like. There are some things you can't fake. Fresh spinach is one. So many great places around the corner. Stay away from Tre Merli. read more

We went here on a Tuesday night at 23.00 to order take away. We ordered a calzone with cheese and ham. Therfore my experience is very limited. The calzone was really good! The staff seemed nice but can't give any real feedback on the service. read more

Do not eat here. Worst pizza in Italy. Despite the terrible Yelp reviews, we ate here on a Friday night and we should have listened to the reviews. Overall, worst meal in Italy. My daughter took one bite of her pasta and would not eat it. It just sat there on the table and no one in our party of 9 ate it (gnocchi with pesto sauce). This place appears innocuous enough - but do not be fooled! While their aperitivo was satisfactory (although, notably, no nibblies...) our request for an entrée was ignored, forgotten, and when it finally arrived, unimpressive. But this was a mere trifle compared to the horror that awaited us: nestled in a seemingly harmless porcini, none other than a real, very much alive WORM - and this in a pasta dish that cost more than 11 euros! We thought this must be the worst, but alas, 'twas just the beginning. We were subsequently lectured by an adequately dismissive waiter that we should be grateful for our wormy main, on account of the fact that it indicated just how ~fresh~ our meal was. Pardonez moi, signor, but I prefer my food to be stationary when I consume it. We presumed that at the very least we would be entitled to a complimentary bottle of wine or a free meal - but no. Instead, I found myself engaged in a degrading argument with a waiter who insisted this situation was to be expected, if not approved of!
