A friend of mine purchased a Mercedes SUV from this dealership and was charged for a warranty and a $1,500 theft-deterrent/theft-protection product. The contract listed the theft protection as "OPTIONAL," but he says he was told it was mandatory. I later purchased a Mercedes from High Class Motors and had the same experience. I specifically questioned the $1,500 theft-deterrent charge because the contract clearly stated that it was optional. I told the salesman, Hash, that I did not want or need the theft-deterrent product. I was told that it was mandatory and that everyone who purchases a vehicle from them is required to have it. My friend eventually took High Class Motors to court over his dispute. The owner, Dave, appeared at an earlier court hearing and indicated that he wanted two weeks to try to resolve the matter. When the parties returned to court approximately two weeks later, no one from High Class Motors appeared. The court entered a judgment in my friend's favor for approximately $7,800, plus court costs. During the earlier court appearance, I also heard Dave make a statement indicating that they charge customers the $1,500 amount and that it represents profit for the dealership. Based on what I personally experienced and heard, I now have serious concerns about how this fee is being represented to customers. I am currently preparing my own paperwork regarding the $1,500 theft-deterrent charge because I specifically questioned the charge before purchasing my vehicle and was told it was mandatory despite the contract identifying it as optional. I also intend to provide information regarding my experience to the California DMV Investigations Division so the appropriate agency can determine whether the dealership's practices comply with California law. If you purchased a vehicle from High Class Motors and were also charged approximately $1,500 for theft protection or a theft-deterrent product, I recommend reviewing your sales contract carefully--especially any section identifying the product as "optional." I needed a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) on a vehicle. Joel was familiar with the dealership where I was purchasing the vehicle. Joel told me that the dealership would deliver the vehicle to his shop. I appreciated this since my other option would have been to have a mobile PPI done at the dealership's lot. Mobile PPIs are not as thorough as PPI's done at a shop, where the vehicle can be put on a lift The dealership sent the wrong vehicle to Carcanix! Joel was not at the shop when the vehicle was delivered. The mechanic that took delivery of the vehicle only knew that a vehicle from the dealership was on its way and needed a PPI. The mechanic presumed that the vehicle delivered was the right vehicle. The mechanic performed the PPI. When Joel returned, Joel noticed that the vehicle received was not the one Joel expected. Joel called me and told me what happened. In short, Joel did the right thing and returned what I paid him for the PPI service. This of course is good business; others would have tried to find an excuse or come up with some reason not to return the funds or maybe only a portion. We had a good conversation about autos, auto industry and dealerships. It became obvious that Joel is a knowledgeable automobile enthusiast. Joel takes care of his customers' vehicles as if they were his own. I live in San Diego; if I lived within a reasonable driving distance of Carcanix, I know who would be taking care of my vehicles - Carcanix. I ended up buying the car, and Ata recommended a shipping option he's used that even cost less than what I could get through one of the national car transport companies. Ata took care of a small dent in the bumper before shipping the car, he included the 30-day drivetrain warranty noted on the Craigslist ad, handled all of the paperwork, and I ended up with a great car I'm thrilled to own! These Gentlemen were a God send!…read more So prior to contacting MPB for emergency work needed on my vehicle, I previously attempted to work with another repair shop regarding some emergency work that needed due to what I thought, was major damage to my car. Thinking what was provided at my initial diagnosis and what I was quoted, scared, stressed and worried is putting how I was feeling about my predicament, lightly. So, strapped for what I thought was going to be close to 5 grand (Yes, that's what the other shop quoted me) and a LONG list of work that was advised "Needed" to ensure my vehicle ran properly, I became worried that I wouldn't be able to drive my car. So, I searched for somewhere who could work with me in what I actually needed and came across MPB Auto Repair. I called and spoke with Tony (I'm sorry if I misspelled it!) and gave him the rundown. Tony was able to quote me and advised I bring my car in for diagnostics. Tony quoted me and said we could find ways to work together without over charging me and get me back on the road. So, I brought my car in and was able to quickly get a better diagnosis than what I was initially provided - My alignment was off and just needed to be fixed - and man, when some of these people say they worked quick? They're Quick! No BS. Transparent. Straight to the point and affordable work? I went from being stressed and panicked to happy and so relieved. I absolutely will be coming back for work in the future. They were also pretty easy to find and very very customer friendly.
