His skillset and chairside manner are beyond compare with any other dentist (or doctor for that matter) I have used. My family travel from Oceanside for our appointments with Dr. Rodd because he and his staff are THE VERY best, professional and excellent skills all performed with integrity. Dr. Rodd is the epitome of a caring, nice man. He always makes us feel at home and takes the time to catch up on our lives. We have had fillings, inlays, crowns, a bridge, cleanings and deep cleanings, all successful with no pain or side effects. We actually look forward to going to the dentist! As a person with needle phobia, I can be a nervous patient. Dr. Rodd is understanding, gentle and has a special technique for helping distract me from injections. There is even a TV with soothing music and imagery in view of the patient's chair. My husband has a habit of tolerating pain, he's a rugby player, and Dr. Rodd takes the time to make sure my husband is actually comfortable and not just taking the pain "like a man." Dr. Rodd noticed that my niece's front 3 teeth were rotting from the gum line and fixed them after a MediCal 'pro' in Vista improperly capped them, and for that we will be forever thankful to Dr. Rodd. The level of clean in the office is superior. And the waiting room decor and views are gorgeous. Although there is hardly ever a wait, there are up to date, clean magazines to keep you entertained. I went from despising going to the dentist (my mom just told me a story about how I bit a dentist when I was little ) to loving my dentist. I've been going to dr. Rodd since the late 90s and I don't see myself ever switching. He's super nice and patient. I've had multiple fillings and none of them hurt. Yes, the sound still gives me goosebumps, but no pain! Plus he really only performs a procedure if necessary. I've been grinding my teeth and got worried. I went in and asked if I need a mouth guard. He checks every time and says that my grinding isn't severe enough but he keeps his eyes on it every time I visit. Bedside manner and customer service is what sets him apart from anyone else. Best Dentist in Orange County: I've been to many dentists in the OC. I also come from a family of dentistry (daughter dental asst, ex wife has a dental school). Dr. Rodd is just a great dentist. First of all, and honestly, he is old school, low tech. This is the GOOD NEWS. The office isn't the latest state of the art; he doesn't pass along high prices to pay for a hi tech office with lots of expensive crap. He has an amazing touch, awareness, and NO PAIN. He does most of the work himself with no assistant, and is constantly making sure you're comfortable. He's also very reasonably priced. Cleanings, crowns, fillings... I've had all with him. He doesn't talk you into anything you don't need. His patients are loyal, like many years and drive miles to see him. I'm going to him for the rest of my life no matter where I live. read more

I had a first time cavity and he was very concious of pain level, etc. His office is very nice and overlooks the ocean, so you definitely cannot beat that!
