Blown out pizza, little more than crust
Alek Z.

Took over an hour and two of the slices were completely blown out with big ol' dough bubbles. In other words I ordered 8 slices and basically got 6. The pizza was okay, but for arriving late and incomplete I gotta give it 2 stars.

Spicy bbq and ravioli pizzas

Stopped by after a movie and it was great! The staff was really nice and gave some recommendations cause I was indecisive. The pizza comes out quickly and tastes pretty fresh. I think the spicy bbq had a nice kick and usually I'm not into pasta on pizza but I really liked the ravioli pizza! The cheese on the inside was really creamy and the vodka sauce on the pizza was great! Id definitely come back!

Excellent. Ordered takeout. Got half Mac and cheese, half florentine or pesto, I can't remember. All I remember is that it was tasty. We ordered the 18inch for two people. If you can't tell, we aren't good at understanding how big a pizza that is. But! It was so good we finished it in two meals and it still tasted good reheated. Would order from here again. With prices going up, Ian's has become less expensive than some other pizza places around Milwaukee downtown area

I rarely post reviews let alone negative but I felt this was necessary because if I owned this place I'd want to know. We were traveling for a volleyball tournament and wanted to try pizza and this place had great reviews. Maybe it would have been good had they done what I asked

The best! Always a slam dunk, homerun, and delicious every time!!! Unquestionably the best pizza in Milwaukee, with incredible flavors, mixes of robust melty cheese varieties, and veggies & bacon & chicken out the wazoo! Go now. Enjoy! Peace and pizza and love.

Quick and friendly service! We ordered four different slices to go. We had a special Nashville pickle cauliflower, buffalo chicken, penne Alfredo, and of course, Maui Wowie.

Online it says open. Payed $25 to uber there and they are closed by 11:20. Had to pay another $20 to get to the next nearest location. They do this often what a joke.

(From September 2021) Stumbled in here after bar hopping it on MLK BLVD and found this spot to be packed with people looking for pizza. I found some good slices including the Mac & cheese pizza which is a favorite and a satisfying bite for the drink munchies. It must've been fresh out of the oven since it tasted like an actual pizza and not some room-temp slice sitting out in the box overnight like some premade pizzas can taste. The line moves fairly quickly especially on a Friday night. Not to mention that it's easy to access as it's just across the street.

I generally love Ian's, as it's the perfect place to go as you're wrapping up a late night. That being said, I just had a very uncomfortable experience there. There was another customer who was a non-verbal individual who clearly needed some assistance in ordering. I tried to communicate with him to help him, but it was pretty difficult. Instead of being patient and understanding, the woman at the register rudely yelled at him "you're not getting anymore pizza!" When he had zero slices. Everyone was treating this man like he was some random drunk person causing a problem, which he was not. They were treating a lot of customers pretty poorly. I think it's important to note when you have a restaurant on water street open past midnight, you will have some intoxicated customers. That is not an excuse to be rude to people unless they are causing a legitimate problem. And even then you should still be polite and there are plenty of authorities outside should a problem arise.

I love this place. They have the most creatively delicious pizza concoctions! Not to mention the old school arcade upstairs. Win-win.

Met friends at Zaffiro's for dinner, a place they consider one of their favorites. They have always…read moreraved about how incredible the pizza is, and I have to agree. This old school, family owned restaurant is very much a neighborhood classic that has stood the test of time. The thin crust is the perfect base for the amazingly tangy Italian sauce. The toppings are generously portioned, and the pizza (available in 12" & 14") is cut into squares, which make it all too easy to eat more! We started with the fried mushrooms and eggplant, which were very generously sized. Our table of four barely made a dent. The breading on both was great, trapping in the heat, flavors and firmness of the veggies. The eggplant especially, which in my experience can be mushy, was excellent. I loved how it was served with lemon wedges. The tartness of the lemon mixed with the zest of the marinara sauce made the eggplant something I could have eaten just by itself. The restaurant has a bar area first, then a dining room adjacent. The tables here are packed in pretty tight. We ended up at a corner table, and could bump elbows with the people sitting next to us. Still, everyone was respectful of each other's space and no issues were had. Our servers maneuvered through effortlessly and quickly.

Every time I go, I always think, "They come to take orders or simply check on us the perfect amount"--I know they want to ensure I've got everything I need but they don't feel overbearing (this is regarding servers or the bartender). Finally, I order the same thing each time: garden salad with house Italian dressing and the special pizza (sausage, mushroom, onion). Salad is crisp and the pizza is consistent--the best.

I love the location of this restaurant, a cozy little nook set apart from the business of downtown but still so accessible! With events happening at the fiserv and new music venue in the deer district, it was a welcome reprieve from the action. The restaurant itself is lively but chill - is there a word for that!? lol very laid back, friendly and informed staff. We were able to snag a seat at the bar which was great - it's probably got 12-15 seats. Full dinner service too! My husband got a mezcal old fashioned (not on the menu) and I got a spicy margarita. Both were great! As for food, the menu is eclectic, but everything looks and tasted great! We got 2 appetizers, the bruschetta and stuff pepper - both were delish!! And then we shared the braised beef risotto topped off the night with a spirit free strawberry Fresca & churros (SO GOOD). Great experience for deciding last minute and getting a walk in spot.

First time coming here…read more Food: The menu has a lot of excellent choices. The drink menu features plenty of specialty cocktails, and I took our server's recommendation and ordered the Whisky Paloma, which was an excellent choice. I loved the chili dust along the rim. If you like pizza, they have an interesting selection featuring ingredients such as peaches, figs, and bacon. It was hard to decide, but I ended up ordering the Burrata pizza with grilled peaches, arugula, and honey. It was very good and would have been even better with a few more grilled peaches. I also ordered the grilled octopus because, if it's on the menu, I just have to try it. It was very good, along with the accompanying roasted potatoes. I prefer my octopus well grilled and firm, and this preparation was a bit softer than I would have liked. We finished with the tiramisu, which was a little disappointing. It was both very cold, as though it had just been thawed, and a bit soggy. Service: The service was very good throughout the evening. We were seated right away, and our server did a nice job of getting us settled in. The drinks and food arrived surprisingly quickly, and we felt well attended to throughout the meal. Thanks, Robert! Atmosphere: The building is a gem, with old brick on the outside and a modern, relaxing design on the inside. There is a foyer where guests are greeted and can wait for their tables. The wood wall treatments and lighting are inventive and upbeat. The many hard surfaces make the acoustics a bit loud, but we were still able to have a conversation comfortably. Overall, it was a very good experience. With a bit more attention to some of the final touches on the food, this could have been an even better experience. We would enjoy coming back again.

Don't get me wrong, I love Milwaukee style pizza, but sometimes it's good to mix it up. We have ordered garlic knots, cheese pizza and the margherita pizza multiples times- summer of 2025 however, now we can clearly conclude that they have downgraded their service and food. Previously we had fluffy garlic knots, smothered in sauce and parmesan however now they are serving burnt pizza crust with a sprinkle of parmesan in place of what they are advertising on their website. The pizza dough was still raw and not edible. Perhaps management has changed, as their phone number and location within the building also have and the previous menu is no longer offered which supports this theory. We did order close to closing time and inquired whether it was too late to place an order however they proceeded to take our order regardless. We would have been more satisfied if they had let us know it was too late and they would not be able to provide the quality service we had been given before. Upset to say that we will no longer be ordering from brute, they have officially lost their game.

The open kitchen lets you see the craftsmanship that goes into every order, and the team is friendly, welcoming, and happy to interact with guests. Their passion for what they do really stands out. I definitely ordered more than I could finish, but it was worth it! I recommend enjoying the pizza at the restaurant since it's best fresh from the oven. Since this is an authentic Italian restaurant, they don't serve ranch with their pizza, which I completely understand. I personally love a good ranch with my pizza, but that's just my preference. The Caprese salad was fresh and flavorful, and the pasta ball appetizer was delicious. Between the quality of the food, the welcoming atmosphere, and getting to watch everything come together, this was one of my favorite dining experiences in Milwaukee. I will definitely be back.
