Not only is the staff the most adorable group of people ever the service is always incredible and timely but the food is awesome. I've tried almost ever slice of pizza and never had a bad piece. The stuff is fun and upbeat, at any time of the day, they're open late so if you're hungry or drunk from the bars you can go have some food, they even have desserts! Puppy chow for days! Best pizza in Wisconsin -- Seriously. I am a pizza snob and I absolutely love Ian's! They are most known for their Mac n' Cheese pizza, which is good, but I prefer the Chicken, Bacon, Ranch slice (Smokey the Bandit). There is just the right amount of sweet BBQ sauce on it, so it doesn't make the crust soggy but gives the slice a wonderful flavor. I could literally eat this pizza everyday. They also have salads though, with a wide variety of topping/dressing options if pizza isn't your thing. This place is centrally located right around Water Street and is opened late, so it is literally the perfect late night spot to grab a slice before Ubering home. If you get the Chicken, Bacon, Ranch slice (as I recommend) be sure to ask for a side of ranch for extra dipping :). Enjoy! read more

Love the food BUT ... and this is key: it's gross that your workers are touching the pizza after it is cooked. I've sat and watched them take the cooked slices and put them on the tray. There is a younger cashier, I think recently started. Works Friday nights, wears a hat (maybe 18-20 white male) He literally brought my slice and pulled them a part with bare hands, after handling cash etc. I've had this experience with him more than once. Please have your cashier wear gloves when he is handling food. His fingers were all over the crust. You have to be really careful when dealing with food because this will affect business. If you want to waste your time, try to order pizza here... you waste a lot of time creating your order. Then, you think that because you will put your order 1.30 before you want it, they will have it ready... The first bite into this slice of pizza ended up with me flossing my front two teeth with the chef's pubic hair. When I confronted the staff about this they responded with "Please step to the front of the line to pay!". I tried to express my concerns again and the staff tried to convince me that I had shoved my genitalia over my own slice of pizza and was responsible for the pubic hair. Whether it's the famous mac and cheese pizza, the delicious barbecue chicken, or the weekly mashup (such as Thanksgiving Dinner), you're sure to find a winner. They also have pepperoni, and other such boring choices, if you're into that sort of thing, but go wild (relatively) and try one of the fun flavors. Definitely on par with Pizza Man and Classic Slice as far as quality... I used to live in Madison and remembered many late nights on State Street getting a slice or two while bar hopping (back during my college daze). My recent experiences/interactions while ordering delivery or take out have gone above and beyond exceptional as far as friendly and accommodating service. Couldn't decide between a vegetarian and a vegan pizza (awesome!). I spent about 20 minutes on the phone with the guy taking my order and his words were, "We'd be happy to do half and half of two very different specialty pizzas and then you could know for next time if you like the vegan cheese". Most places are willing to substitute one or two items but these guys are here to make you happy. Pizza Man was difficult with me the last time I ordered (only one substitution) and I have encountered bitchy service with Classic Slice (men included). The good. It was inexpensive and a good variety of both regular pizzas, specialty pizzas, vegan and vegetarian options. The entire area around this pizza place is actually great for a family with mixed meat and non-meat eaters which coming from the Chicago suburbs to have such a good selection on menus at places was amazing. So we tried... 1 specialty slice. Good but might have been sitting there a bit. 2 pizzas 12" with 1 topping each (black olives on 1 and pepper jack cheese for the 2nd) both good. And a vegan Maccadilla Killa (maybe spelled wrong this is 1 of their pizza off the menu). The vegan version didn't have tortilla topping because the tortillas they were currently using aren't vegan but I just got it with those off, I'm not picky and having a pizza place using vegan cheese and a vegan cream sauce and a vegan chicken and a vegan bar-b-que sauce... well I'm already impressed. I could NEVER get this at home. So the food came out and was hot and yummy. Meat eaters tried my vegan version and liked it too. The bad. We were here with another family and ordered separately. Their kids got slices and they got 1 pizza. They ordered 1st. Their kids got their slices. We waited. Our families order came out but their whole pizza did not. Turned out it wasn't cooked, the slip was forgotten. Ian's refunded them the money and quickly made them a pizza (less than 10 minutes) rushing their pizza there dough was a little less cooked which made the pizza not as good I guess (it wasn't vegan so I didn't try it myself but all who ate it agreed it wasn't as good). They ordered 1st and then I bugged the cashier with a ton of questions about vegan options so maybe it's partially my fault she got side tracked about their pizza but when she carried my pizza order back to be cooked I didn't make her leave their ticket on the counter. The pizza was good. The options are great. It is inexpensive. Maybe charge 50 cents more on everything so you can invest in a better system of getting orders to the cooks. Or spend the money up front and consider money you refund the investment since they wouldn't need to be refunding people for this type of thing anymore. Unless you sell by the slice in NYC, the pizza that gets reheated doesn't taste as good. I do realize I'm not in NYC while at Ian's but I wasn't impressed with their pizza. The crust had a great texture but the rest of my pizza crust was soggy and the sauce was bland (I was told it was a Margherita but it was made with spinach and feta - not a Margh pizza) I noticed a lot of reviewers said the pizza is great after bar hopping and I'm sure it does hit the spot at 2am but for dinner, I wasn't impressed. There were also a lot of negative reviews posted about the staff. The girl who took our order and brought out our slices was very nice and courteous. read more

Pizza was ok, no big deal. They did have unique combinations and good bread sticks. We called a head inquiring about room for a group of 12 and was told that they had plenty of room upstairs and that we did not need to make reservations. another party showed up not long after we arrived and then an hour and a half later another party came in that actually had reservations. It appears that since it was so many people there they were having a hard time keeping track of the orders and we actually had to go down acquiring about two pizzas and a large order of breadsticks at we never received. After being there an hour and a half and just receiving our last pizza and breadsticks we were asked if we could leave since we've been there long enough and the other group needed the room. The management seemed unorganized so I suggested to management, i think he was management ,that going forward whenever they have a large group they should be required to make reservations so that this overlap does not happen again.. I love this place. They have the most creatively delicious pizza concoctions! Not to mention the old school arcade upstairs. Win-win.

We actually found the traditional pizzas to be notably tastier than the creative pizzas, however we did appreciate finding a place in town that could offer both styles, along with excellent service. My son is a vegetarian - so he ordered a pizza with vegan spicy chicken. We got a call from Ian's making sure that he wanted regular mozzarella as ordered vs. vegan mozzarella. If you want pizza with a million different variations, especially at late night, Ian's is your place to go. The crust was not too soft, but not too hard --it just right, and the portions were gi-normous (not surprising considering they offer 20" sizes in pizza; drinks are by the can - oh, and YES, it was delicious! Price-wise, it was pretty reasonable; $9.50 for 2 large slices and 2 cans soda. The only negative thing I have to say is the music playing for the restaurant; was a bit loud for my taste, and a little vulgar since I'm not into Rap; but if I could say to them: Just turn down the music late night as there are not many people eating in and it's hard to talk when the music is blaring. When I went for a precollege program for MIAD this pizza place was the cheap amazing pizza godsend I needed. As a chicagoan I love a good pizza and this was delicious and my roommate and I ate there 3 times within the 2 week program we were there for. We went in to the actual restaurant over the weekend but then ordered the two other times and we had no complaints whatsoever. It was very affordable and we ate every bite of it. Delicious vegan pizza options! I visited Milwaukee for five days and went to Ian's twice. The staff was super friendly and gave great recommendations. The first I tried was a vegan chorizo sweet potato pizza maxed out with veggies and daiya cheese. Need I say more? The second visit I had a penne pasta pizza with spinach and vegan mozzarella. I added pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes. It tasted perfect. I've been dying for my pizza fix since taking on a complete vegan diet. This is a mostly hipster joint that offers large slices of pizza. Your best bet is to stop in for a large slice to go. When I've ordered delivery, it was well over and hour for 2-3 large pizzas. When I got there I gave my name and the register person had to be told how to handle it if I paid online. Then I waited another ten minutes beyond the listed expected time. At one point one of the staff asked another what "he" (head nod to me) was waiting for. The other person WHO HAD TAKEN MY NAME said she didn't know. A minute later someone asked and I gave my name again. Suddenly people jumped when they realized it was there all along. I like the food and the place, but the staff sucks.
