I love the vibe and service over there!! The bread is very cheap and really affordable! Everything is vegan or vegetarian I believe so it's really vegan vegetarian Come and enjoy Cheers

Located in the Dynasty Plaza, I Bun Bakery specializes in vegan and vegetarian baked goods and food. They had fresh baked goods in the middle table, dried and packaged goods along the walls, and cooked food on the shelves. This place is also pretty popular for their Asian cakes and had samples at the front counter to view. Prices are decent and there were quite a few options to choose from.

BBQ pork bun - the sesame seeds on top were a nice touch.

We stopped by here today on a whim; after eating at a place nearby, we took a short walk inside the old Dynasty Plaza mall, since my husband has childhood memories of the dojo that used to be there. IBUN is in the small part of the mall space that still has stores, and it's small but inviting - a chalk sign outside says everything is Vegetarian or Vegan. We only picked up a baked vegan pork bun this time - to split, since my husband's watching his carb intake - but not only was the quality great, it was an absolute steal at just $1.50. The bread is incredibly soft and light, and vegetarian "pork" filling is extremely convincing in both taste and texture - it's tender and not too chewy, and just a little oily, like real pork would be. And they don't skimp on it, either - the filling goes all the way to the edge. Next time we're in the area we'll definitely come back and try more things, but if first impressions are important, IBUN left an excellent one. We'll be sure to keep this in mind, especially if our family members with allergies to eggs and milk are in town.

This is my favorite bakery ever! Every time I'm in Bellaire, I make sure to go here. When you arrive to the mall, you'll have to go nearby the escalators on the first floor to reach IBUN. There's some seating if you'd like to eat there. The differences between vegetarian and vegan dishes are the V. Everything here is vegetarian, and everything marked with V is vegan. I always get my birthday parties catered by IBUN because their savory and sweet food is wonderful! It's loved by my vegetarian, vegan, and non-veggie family and friends alike. Be sure to take a look at the bakery stand, shelves on the left, the two refrigerators adjacent to the register, and the freezer on the right past the seating! They have a drink menu too. Their prices are so wonderful, and I've been a customer here for years. It's such a wonderful family owned bakery. The customer service is always kind!

I went on a hunt for vegan desserts near me and iBun popped up. I noticed all the 5 star reviews and decided to give it a chance. Generally, I am a fan of Asian bakeries (red bean anything); however, I was concerned that I would not be able to decipher any of the offerings there because it is located in China Town and I noticed in the pictures much of the wording is in Chinese/Mandarin. Good news though, most of the items have been translated into English. If not, the wonderful staff will take their time to explain to you what it is. I was informed that everything with a "V" on it is actually vegan, woo-hoo! I bought the taro mochi, blueberry jam pastry, and vegan strawberry cake. All of which are marked as vegan. Taro mochi - this was made on the spot for me. It was pretty good. I preferred the filling the most. However, I do not think the mochi had enough time to rest and chill since it was made to order. B Vegan strawberry cake - it was frozen when I bought it. The staff recommended I let it thaw for an hour, but that some guests like it frozen because it tastes like ice cream. I tried to consume it frozen but it was inedible. The strawberries were just too hard. After thawing an hour, it was still unpleasant to eat. After several hours, it was now edible. I enjoyed the cream filling, but wished the strawberries were cut smaller. They were just halved. The cake itself is like a shortbread. It really needed more filling or some type of sauce. C+ Blueberry jam pastry - I was informed that the blueberry jam is made in-house and this is a popular item. I understand why this item is popular. By far the best item I had that day. It was fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness. I would definitely buy this again. A The sweet staff also explained to me their lunch boxes and that it is best to call in and order in advance because they are made to order and take about 20 minutes to prepare. The parking lot gets full, so plan accordingly but a great place to get vegan desserts and savory bites as well.

The food here is really good and everything that's vegan is labelled with a "v" on the tag. Every item I've tried has been delicious! I really enjoyed the turtle mochi with the red bean filling and the bbq "pork" buns. So good! It's a blessing and a curse it's far from me because I'd eat there everyday whivh would probably be too much.

Recommend? Yes!!! This place had the Vietnamese pastry I've been missing a lot. It's a bun that has a hint of sweetness, "pork" floss on top, and the creamy green onion oil (?) It truly was a treat as a vegan. I also got the sweet cream pastry. I found the cream was very sweet and the pastry a bit on the dry side for this particular one.

My o my! Phenomenal Taiwanese baked goods, tons of delicious vegan options! I am beyond grateful that my wife found this joint! This is definitely one to put in the books for routine visits! We took home frozen vegan wontons, put them in pho, along with steamed & pan-fried! The baked goods were fresh, and the prices are excellent! Can't wait to go back! COVID Notes -Social distance & masks required. -Customer service was delightful, safe, and helpful -Ordering was effortless & smooth -No issues at all. Thank you, IBun Bakery, for all of the Vegan Options!

    IBUN is inside the mall!

Oh my goodness. Vegetarians and vegans REJOICE! We have IBUN and all will be well again. I have been wanting to check IBUN bakery out for a while after reading other Yelpers' reviews. I finally got myself to brave the traffic and crazy parking lots and it was so worth it. IBUN is located inside the mall, so if you're using Google Maps...map to Ding Tea and walk inside the mall once you park. Holy moly, let's talk about their LUNCH SPECIALS. Hello?! Who gets $6 lunch boxes anymore? No one. Except those of us who have discovered the beauty that is IBUN. I got some breads and was excited to try their oyster pancake. However, the kind cashier man said that it'd take around 15 minutes. I didn't have the time to wait, so I went with their faux minced pork over rice dish. It was SO GOOD. It tasted honestly just like rou zhao fan. I was shook. It really was authentic Taiwanese bento food. I can't wait to come back and try their other vegetarian dishes like smoked duck and BBQ pork. I love that everything was so affordable, and you can get everything that might remind you of Taiwan...from their milk teas to little mooncakes and breads to lunch items. Score! Pro Tip: There were two popo cars parked in the lot. It's nice to know that there are patrol cars in the parking lot, just in case you decide to go in for a meal or if you're shopping for a while.

$1.00 for sponge cake. Not overly sweet and very fluffy!

Since discovering IBUN Bakery, I've already been back 5+ times (lost count). I have my favorites and not-so favorites. Here's a review of the items tried: FAVORITES: Sponge cupcake: Soft, fluffy, and not overly sweet, this is a MUST MUST MUST. I find myself dreaming about this sponge cupcake and this is the reason I keep going back. Taro Pineapple bun: Taro filling is moist and not overly sweet which goes perfectly well with the sweet, soft pineapple bun. Another MUST. The only problem is that it isn't always available Red bean pineapple bun: Another delicious bun. I would have liked it better if the red bean paste was a bit less sweet, but still very good and would definitely get it again. My not-so favorites: Peanut bun: SUPER DRY. I needed water to wash it down otherwise could barely swallow it. Other reviews have raved about this one, but that was not my experience. I want to say that I got an old batch from their unsold stock from previous day(s). Curry bun: Bleh. I've had my share of faux meat, but there is nothing faux about the "meat" in this one, it tastes exactly like soy. Not a fan. The curry flavor was just ok. Ended up tossing. Matcha swiss roll with red bean + cream filling: Matcha flavor tasted artificial. Nothing spectacular. Didn't finish. While IBUN does has some delicious items, I've had my share of failures here too. My advice is to get the sponge cake and stick to the pineapple bun series, other items are try-at-your-own-risk. But good thing items are all around $1-$3, so not a huge gamble to try new items, as you may find your next favorite bun!

This place is seriously a hidden gem! I personally love Asian bakeries. And visit Chinatown all of the time. And now that I'm vegan I thought I wouldn't be able to enjoy their baked goods. Then I find out about this place in Dynasty Plaza. Right next to H Mart. Like seriously, H Mart is just over the road which I found shocking because I'm always in H Mart! Anyway the prices are very reasonable and match non vegan bakeries in the area. A nice small place with a lot of options. I bought the curry and custard bun. And oh my gosh. I left the vicinity, ate the curry bun and had to go back! Like it was the best bun I've ever had! It made me question is this really vegan the entire time. Because I was in utter disbelief. I wanted to go back right after finishing it to buy another. I didn't go. But I will be back next week for sure. For the curry bun and something new.

What's nudged this place up to 5 stars for me is they have really improved their coffee game, specifically their quality of cappuccino's. Previously it seemed more of latte, but now to me its a legit Capp. Their choice of pastries hasn't changed, which gives you a good assortment of choices and they have added an additional barista or server which also is a nice touch for service. Inside you will also find French pastries, coffees and teas, gelato, milkshakes, sandwiches and macaroons. I felt the most interesting items were the French pastries as they are cute and tasty as well. Also, they plate the pastries nicely when you dine in as an added bonus. I tried the Chocolate Royale and the Ruby. Chocolate Royale - a petit chocolate mouse slice with flat chocolate panels along the sides. It is delicate and tasty. If you're a chocolate lover, this is definitely up your alley. Ruby - visually this looks like a strawberry Hershey kiss, with red powder on the exterior and a top piece of foil to resemble foil on the wrapper of a hershey kiss. Inside, it's filled with a strawberry cream and has a chocolate base. I just wish there was more chocolate in this one. They have plenty of seating inside as well as along the sidewalk. Inside you have the more fancy tables, whereas outside, they're more weather resistant and not as upscale in appearance. The soft drinks to drink along with your sweets are in a cold case along the hotel side of the space and you just take them to the register as you order. One of the most surprising things when you come here are the relatively affordable prices as you might expect them to be more for being a coffee shop attached to a 5-star hotel with a helipad.

We finally came around to checking it out and OMG YES. It absolutely is worth the hype. As a lover of egg tarts and someone who is also very particular about it - these have won my heart! I also heard great things about the mango mochi so we couldn't leave without those. Thankfully they still had some in stock. I heard they sell out quickly especially on weekends. Those also lived up to its hype. SO YUMMY! Tastes so fresh including the mangoes. My kiddo who LOVES mango anything loved them so much! My husband also got 2 savory pastries (I forgot what they were called and I forgot to take a picture) and those were yummy too. Perfectly flakey crust just like the egg tarts. We wanted to get sesame balls but they were sold out. Customer service was great. The guy that took our order was very nice. It was pretty busy but he moved through the line quickly. There's some seating inside if you want to eat there. Prices are very reasonable at $2 each for the mochi and egg tarts. The savory pastries were $3. It's located in a shared lot/area. Also note that if you pay with card it's a 2.5% charge so cash is better if you have it. We didn't but we know now for future. We had a great experience here and will definitely be back. It might not look great inside but that's when you know they focus on how the food taste, not wasting their energy on what the store looks like. Egg tarts 5/5 - must get especially when fresh and warm out of the oven, the eggy filling is sweet and soft but dangerously hot when too fresh so be careful, the flakey tart shell is soft but crispy at the edges helping to balance the jiggly egg filling. Pork puff pasty (cha siu sow) 5/5 - another must get, if sweets aren't your thing or you are craving something savory then this is for you, again the puff pastry so flakey and delicious, the pork filling wasn't very much but just enough to help accompany the soft yet crispy shell, the pork was soft and and just juicy enough to not be too overwhelmed with sauce but not dry either. Wife cookie (1/5) - skip this and don't waste your calories, the puff pastry again was lovely and flakey but I think they dropped the ball on the filling, it was a bit too goopy and thick for my liking, traditional wife cookies have candied wintermelon or some other firmer additives to give it more of a textual change but this one didn't have any of that and even the puff pastry couldn't balance it out, stick to the other 2 items instead. The chestnut puree, Chantilly cream, and crust were all *chef's kiss* And the best part of it all is that the pastries were not too sweet (for those of you who are new to Asian pastries, they are meant to be lighter and not overly sweet)! While my friend and I were enjoying the pastries, I was able to have a brief conversation with the owner and she was incredibly welcoming and kind. Overall, I was thrilled to be able to finally try Chez Kobayashi Pastries and I can't wait to come back and try their savory dishes! ごちそうさまでした‍
