I have lived in SF, LA, and NY and this is by far the BEST ice cream I have ever had in my life! There are no banana splits like the one at ice cream company. All other pumpkin ice creams don't even come close! I am so so so so so sad I am not in Modesto to say goodbye to it! :( read more

This is another place that's been around since I was young.I take my kids now for a quick lunch on visits.Good prices.The food isn't exciting, per say, but not bad! Grilled cheese,French Dip, basic sandwiches basically, a little salad (or soup) bag of chips, a pickle & ice cream sample.Always eat the ice cream sample first.I don't know,I think it might be a rule.... I had a craving for a real ice cream sundae last night and looked up ice cream parlors and was pleasantly surprised to see we had one right here in Modesto! It's located off Oakdale rd and Orangeburg in the shopping center....the sign is not lit up so its a little hard to find. We were surprised to find it empty but lucky for us because there was no wait. The staff was very friendly and the guy made my sundae perfect! They don't have a ton of flavors but plenty to give you a good amount to choose from. I picked peanut butter cup and coconut with all the fixings and my hubby had cookies and cream and said it was the best he ever had. They apparently serve food too, we didn't eat there this time but we will definitely be back to try it out. A nice little hidden gem right here in Modesto, super happy I found them. I got the butter brickle ice cream and it was fabulous! The guy in the shop says it's the only place in Modesto now that has butter brickle--because he said it's an old-fashioned ice cream place. They make their own, and he said the burgers and sandwiches were always fresh, the milkshakes use real ice cream and are hand made, plus the malteds use real malt. He suggested caramel sauce on top of the butter brickle--no extra charge--and it was a great suggestion! My friend had a chocolate scoop on a sugar cone and said 5 stars! This place has been around since the year before I was born. I have so many childhood memories of eating amazing ice cream and sandwiches here. It has probably been 15+ years since I've been here. This week I decided to bring my nephew and niece for lunch and dessert. I was pleased to see not much has changed over the years. The same amazing wood circus train still fills the wall above the booths. The charm and feel of the place is much the same. We ordered sandwiches which were amazing. Our shakes were over the top delicious. All the good feelings of eating here as a kid came flooding back. This place is one of a kind. I hope they are around for another 36 years. P.s. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because prices are steep. We ordered 3 sandwiches and 4 shakes and it came to just under $60. I had a small heart attack when I saw the price! Eek! read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Modesto! I've been going here for years, they have amazing ice cream. But my favorite part there is the the food! Their sandwiches are amazing, especially their BLT and Club Sandwich. I always get those whether I'm eating to go or dining in. Went To ICC ( Ice cream Company) on 7/1/2012 and had their chocolate chocolate chip Belgian waffle sundae. one of the best sundae i have ever had. The chocolate waffle was cooked just right to have a slight crunch so that doesn't get all soggy, but still soft on the inside,and ice cream of your choice on top. I had the large a little big for one person so I ended up sharing it with the wife. Also the ice cream is made their i believe so the ice cream is much more flavorful, than other Ice cream locations. So for a top noch sundae experience go to ICC. They also have a regular menu of sandwiches and soup that are pretty good, but i go for the ice cream. The reason they don't get a five yet is they still seem to be working out kinks in service and presentation of food. it still seems to change quite a bit depending on who is working that day. read more

I was very unhappy with the customer service that I received from the waitress I had. She was not attentive to her customers. After I told her that my sundae order was wrong, she rudely pulled my plate and inspected it and tried to correct me. I had to rush to leave so I went up to pay and told her to cancel my sundae and she responded with an attitude saying it was ready already, it was not even ready nor prepared. I insisted that I didn't want the order and she gave me an attitude again. She never apologized nor thanked us for coming in. We have been supporting this restaurant for many years and because of this experience, we won't be returning. read more

I gave them 3 chances to redeem themselves but unfortunately they couldn't. Don't get me wrong their ice cream are great, compared to big name ice cream stores in the area. Though I can't compare it to the old ICC because I moved in the area a month after they closed. The problem I see is with the service. Anyways, I have been there 3 times since they reopened. All three times they have messed up my order. The first two was with the same server and the last visit yesterday was with a different server. So let's start with the first visit. I was with my little girls and they both ordered the clown sundae. And I ordered the Jr fudge sundae. It took a while for us to get our orders. There was nothing wrong with the kids sundae but on mine there was a piece of thread (or lint) on top of my sundae. They replaced it immediately, gave me the regular size and didn't charge me for it. I was happy with how they dealt with it. So I came back a second time with all three of my kids. Again the kids' orders had no problem. I ordered a banana split without the almond on top. And what did I get? A banana split with almonds. And when they gave my order back guess what I noticed. My banana split is missing the banana!!! How can they miss that? So again I get a freebie. So now we get to my last visit. My order was simple...the waffle sundae with 3 different scoops of ice cream and a hot caramel topping. Can anybody guess what went wrong? They did get all the ice cream favors right but instead of the caramel that I asked for it had hot fudge. Everybody in my table are enjoying their ice cream and I has to wait, again, for my order to be remade. It took a few minutes since they had to make a new waffle and everything. By the time I got my order my family is almost done with their food. oh and to top it all off my card was charged with the order of the table next to us. This time there was no compensation for the delay and/or mistake. The way I see it there are at least two occasions to catch a mistake in an order. First is with the person who prep the order. He/She can check the item he's handing out with the order receipt before putting it on the counter for the server. The second point is the server herself. Make sure everything's right before you bring it to the table. read more

I've been twice now, once for sundaes with my mom and sister, and yesterday for lunch with my mom. Both times we got great service, but yesterday was exemplary. The Reuben burger was juicy, with TONS of pastrami, and really good sauerkraut on it. Messy is a good thing when it comes to this type of food, so the need for extra napkins was great. My mom got the chicken caesar wrap and loved it. When it came time to leave, we decided we wanted to bring my stepdad a shake back with us. The only problem was that we live a good half hour away. Our waitress, Katie, had a great idea and had the shake made, then put the cup inside the next size up and filled that one with ice. Even though we hit traffic and it took nearly 45 minutes to make it back home, the spoon still stuck straight up when we handed over the shake! On a purely aesthetics basis - the decor is gorgeous. The wooden train scene up against the far wall - complete with 3D clouds and other embellishments is matched by the color of the wood all around the rest of the room. The chairs outside are your basic metal chairs - but as a big girl, the fact that my butt fit completely in them was a wonder. And if you like peanut butter, the Peanut Butter Passion sundae is TO DIE FOR. Though I added marshmallow sauce and gummi bears because if you're gonna raise your blood sugar for the last time before surgery, you might as well go all out! read more

I ordered my ice cream just before my food order came out so that it would be ready when I finished eating my sandwich. That was around 3:30. I ate and was brought the bill then the server said she forgot to put the order in for the ice cream. Finally by 4:25 I got my order only after asking for it again. Food was good and the ice cream was good, service was terrible. They said it took a long time because the waffle was made fresh on the waffle iron and takes 15 minutes to cook. That's crazy. I have a waffle maker at home that will make one in a minute and a half. I used to love this place and now the service is terrible. So sad. read more

The sandwiches and ice cream are delicious! My complaint...the service! We have been there 3 times now and each time it's the same! They must have a high turnover of staff, because 2 of the 3 times I was there they were new servers. Also, my friend ordered her ice cream in a waffle cone (fresh made cone) BEFORE her food and she had to ask for it 2 times and they still didn't have it done approx. 30 minutes AFTER she ate! And his response was...it takes a while to make a fresh waffle cone. Really, it takes 2 hours? Because we were at least there that long! read more

This place really has gone downhill. Used to have fond memories of coming here. The little waitress was rude, the "large" 6 scoop banana split was half the size it used to be with less toppings as well as served half melted. The strawberry ice cream looked grey and the ice cream tasted old. All you could hear is the employees loud mind numbing talking and laughing the whole time. My 11 year old daughter said to me as we left "Those kids in their talk more than they work." I have to agree with her. Sadly I will not return here again they've lost our business, don't know if their are newer owners the last couple years but I can see The I've Cream Company going out of business in the near future from what I saw....sad but true read more

After our experience tonight, we will not go back. It took a long time for our order to be taken, after 30 minutes two of the four items came out. After another 15-20 minutes when two of us were now finished eating, I went up to ask about the other two items ......chocolate malts. The worker had no idea where our ticket was and had no idea what to do about it. We waited another 5-10 minutes and then flagged down what appeared to be the manager. She found one of the malts that had been sitting on the counter in a to-go cup the whole time. It had melted and was more the consistency of milk. It contained no malt and was made with the wrong ice cream flavor. She did not offer to correct it. We again asked for the 4th item. It took another 10-15 minutes for it to come out. It was a malt but that was the only ingredient that was correct. We didn't complain as they were very busy. We were never given a bill so tried to pay at the register. The boy working it had no idea where our bill was or what to do about it and went back to preparing food. My husband had to get a menu, add up our items himself and ending up just leaving money on the table. Bottom line: You cannot run a restaurant without enough workers. On a warm Friday night you have to have enough servers and food preparers to get people in and out in a timely fashion and get the orders correct. As we left I noticed a family that had come in after us still sitting at their table without any food. I hope they just left. Poor customer service and no apologies. Won't return. read more

The ice cream is good, not great, but good. But the service, oh my gosh. We went with friends for just ice cream and the waitress got every single order wrong. One friend ordered a scoop of ice cream in a "waffle cone" and got a scoop of ice cream on top of a waffle. An actual waffle (which is on the menu, but not what she ordered). Another friend got a cookie sundae that is supposed to come with chocolate chip cookies and there were no cookies. We had to ask for them. When I ordered she had to ask me 3 times which sundae I was ordering. She had no knowledge of the menu at all, and I don't even think she was new to the establishment. The only thing she seemed familiar with was the La-Palooza (their giant sundae meant for a bunch of people to share) which was the only recommendation she would make when we asked for suggestions. Come on, there's 4 of us. Do you really think we need a $60 boat load of ice cream? Can you come up with any other recommendations? Anything at all? I can't see myself going back here. If I do, I'm definitely asking for a different server! read more

Very nice ice cream parlor not influenced by most of the new hype like some of the other mainstreams. Great for b-day parties! We did one there one year and had their special for $50 and had a tower (yes tower) of ice cream. Ok, so on a whim took my 5yr old son there for light meal and (of course) an ice cream sundae this past Friday night. The young gal took our order and walked away. A while later, she comes to the table with... My sons hot fudge Sundae. Mind you, I ordered him a sandwich AND a sundae. I was startled and reminded her I ordered him a sandwich AND dessert. She looked at me and flat out said "umm, yea. I put the order all in at the same time and they made this first so I brought it out." What?!! I clarified, stating "usually when I go anywhere and order a meal and dessert for a child, the meal is brought out first bc who wants to eat their meal when you bring out a big old sundae first?" She replied "well, you should have requested that when you ordered... I can go stick this in the freezer for you if you want." Ok, a hot fudge sundae with whipped cream in the freezer (ugh) after being ripped away from a 5yr olds grasp after setting it down right in his face in order to wait for a sandwich and forced to eat that first? All kinds of wrong! And the flippant attitude! So, of course my son enjoyed the sundae first, then barely ate any of his sandwich! Freaking moron! They may have yummy ice cream, but that did not settle well. Oh, and then she forgot my to go box and just handed it to me at the register AFTER I asked her about it! Smh!!!!! Would have asked to speak w a manager, but I was so shocked I just wanted the hell out of there after that experience! Won't be going back here for a while! I've been coming to this place sporadically for over 25yrs & NEVER have I ever had customer service as bad as tonight. From anywhere. Went with the fam for dessert & first the red head waitress [Kaitlyn] spills water on us. Then 3 min after she takes our order she has someone else [the Asian dude] bring our tab and drops it off with "Here you go" as it slapped on the table. We hadn't even had our ice cream brought to our table yet! 5 min later we do get our sundaes, the same employee comes by [2bites in] and says, "Can I have the black book back now?" Referring to the bill. Like Really? They were no where close to closing time, however they did have 2 parties of 8 coming in. I said no bc I wasn't ready. Then 3-5 min later he returns to ask AGAIN! I was so irritated I snapped & asked "Where's the Fire? Can I enjoy my ice cream? Are you closing? I will pay when we finish if that's all right". We have never felt so unwanted in an establishment. He literally was kicking us out. It probably wouldn't have been that bad if he was kind or friendly when he spoke. However he was neither. Upon leaving [and paying] I shared our crappy experience with the Manager. I went as far as asking him "Whats your problem? Were you trying to rush us out? Did you think I wasn't going to pay?" Manager blonde lady tried to return our money, in an attempt to make me happy. But obviously not caring about the fact her employee was a total Douche. I left saying "I'll tell you what, since he was so eager to come collect it from us YOU can keep it." With a tip. And I walked out. Maybe that little prick can go buy some manners. They almost went out of business a couple years back, maybe it was their lack of customer service that kept people away. [refer to other Yelp Reviews] Ps: the ice cream isn't bad.
