I had never ventured to the "new" PGA development so decided it was time to give it a try. It was a nice day so t was fairly busy. Parking was all full so they are a bit short on parking. The area was very open for a nice outdoor adventure. The is a stage there and a band was player after we ate ad we're leaving. The Ice House is smaller inside and a bit tight to walk around but the outdoor seating area is spacious. The inside bar isn't large so wouldn't take much to get packed as well. I tried the Dirtie Birdie to start. It tastes like a Pina Colada on the rocks. I really like it. Next we order the Chili Frito Pie with Corn Bread. The chili was fantastic with large chunks of brisket on a bed of Fritos. The corn bread was very sweet. We also ordered the Pit Master Burger. It was huge!! A regular burger plus a layer of brisket. It was real great and a lot of food. I'd order both again. I tried the Banana Ice Box Cake. It had a great presentation but wasn't as great as i hoped. The layer of banana in the base was overly ripe and detracted from the taste. It wasn't bad and worth a try but i would not order it again. This restaurant is at the PGA which is a beautiful area of Frisco. It has plenty of outside seating, just be mindful of the mosquitoes this time of the year. It seemed they were understaffed when I went there. There was just one server for the whole outside area. He was doing his best, but everything was very slow. Food wise, it was a lot of food. I was hangry, so I ordered the bunless brisket burger which was good, but I was expecting a brisket burger not a burger AND a piece of brisket which for me, it was an overkill. We have been to the ice house a number of times. Usually, it has been good. This visit was very disappointing. The food was way too salty, we had the brisket burger and pulled pork sando. Service definitely needs improvement too. We weren't able to find our waiter to let him know about the food being overly salty and then we had to track him down by going inside to pay our bill. Fantastic hangout spot with spectacular views! They have a great outdoor patio to sip on some margarita while you watch all the things happening around you. Food and service were good, however, there were several other families with kids there, so I thought it would be more of a "family friendly" establishment. We brought our baby in her stroller and the music was blaring. So loud that we were screaming at each other to have conversation. While there, we noticed a staff member turn it up even louder. My son got "lean" and it was sliced like normal brisket. My wife and I both ordered moist and it came out as a hunk of uncut meat, like a steak. That was odd. 4. The meat was room temp at best, the cornbread was cold and the "moist" brisket was so dried out, you can see the dry in a photo (looks like beef jerky on top). WORST BBQ I'VE EVER HAD! 5. Sweet tea wasn't sweet. If you're serving sweet tea in a BBQ joint in Texas... put some sugar in it. 6. $5 for 2 small slices of watermelon. Come on!
