The girl at the tablet kiosk is SUPER friendly, they'll let you try any flavor you want, she explained what everything is, and to be honest, I'm shocked by how affordable it is. Everything is so expensive lately that when I can leave a place with 2 items for less than $15, it's a party. As others have mentioned, it's easy to miss this spot as it's located in a fairly benign looking strip mall, but definitely stop here! We both ordered ice cream in fish cones. I went with the strawberry and Cookie Monster swirl flavor. The fish cone was also lined with your choice of a spread. I went with Nutella. It was super tasty and, surprisingly, not too sweet. The fish cone had a great flavor--it was my first time trying one. The cashiers were also very eager to offer samples and answer any questions that we had about the menu. They should add iced Out on the logo it's such a cute name! We opened the door and it was spotless inside as if it had just opened! The girl behind the counter immediately asked if we had been there before I'm guessing because it may not be everyone's thing. You can build your own ice cream including the tayaki with a filling and they have toppings. I tried the monster flavor which is like cookies and cream but it's blue. Not sure why but it was good! It's super easy to take out too because they have those sealed tops after they make it. I got the monster tayaki with Nutella filling and Oreo toppings It was sooo good!! I was really excited when I heard about this place, so I am sad to leave the review. The star of the show, the taiyaki. Made to order, so yes it does take a little extra time, fluffy, flavorful. It was the best part, for sure. I would go back just for those and those alone. The ice cream, was nice because it's 110 today, otherwise I can't say much else about it. We did the vanilla matcha and Cookie Monster. The Cookie Monster, didn't taste like anything. The vanilla matcha had a hint of matcha and no vanilla and aside from leaving my tongue blue, Cookie Monster was anything but. We also were excited to try the place but the girl working the register was not excited about life. I smiled when we walked in and she just stared. When I asked what she'd recommend as a filling for Cookie Monster she just blankly said "Nutella is the most popular". A costumer came in after us and, excitedly said it was their first time, and she just stared at them. No smile. No "welcome in!" No suggestion of something for them to try. And everyone's entitled to a bad day, and maybe she was having one. All this to say, it's worth trying, for sure get the taiyaki cone or even the minis. They bake the fish after you order so it can take a few minutes to cook. (That's a nice change from premade everything.) I think the idea is to have a break and take your time. Only 2 people working on a Friday night so everyone in the restaurant waited over 20 minutes for their orders. The two ladies were definitely working hard though and kept a smile on. The blue cookies and cream was so dark and stained the cone and our fingers. The vanilla wasn't mixed all the way and was not good. Somebody from the taco restaurant next door had to come and help crank out orders. It's a small place and a lot of people standing around. Place has a lot of potential but they need to revisit their strategy and work on the flavors. You can tell this place is new. There are some really good spots and our fav is in chandler. We ordered two upside taiyaki. A vanilla matcha with Nutella filling A vanilla with custard filling Waited in line for about 10-15 minutes. But the guy at the register was communicating and asked for a few minutes to assist those preparing. No problem at all. We waited 35+ minutes for our order which mind you when we went up to check they told us they were out of the flavors we chose and if we wanted another flavor. No problem. I ended up getting matcha on its own, but they ran out of matcha halfway through my cup so I opted for strawberry for the rest of the swirl. For the other cup we ended up choosing the Cookie Monster flavor. Matcha was very gritty/ kind of watered down flavor. I didn't like it. Strawberry was really good. And the taiyaki with Nutella was good. Cookie Monster didn't taste like anything, seriously it was just water down flavorless ice cream. So that was disappointing. The custard filling on this taiyaki didn't taste like anything neither. Definitely was a little unorganized in regard to getting customers orders out. Maybe it was a busy night. Place was clean.
