Yay shaved snow has arrived to San Diego! Iceskimo is an adorable setting to treat yourself to something cold and sweet. Prior to Icekimo my shaved ice experiences have taken place in the Orange County Area (Snow Monster, Snow Station, and Guppy's to name a few). Compared to those shaved ice servers, Icekimo is okay. The shaved ice is not as soft as I am used to, but it is still a treat. I had the matcha shaved ice with condensed milk and mochi. The matcha flavor was lacking. Tips: -Ask for extra condensed milk! -Seating inside is limited. -Stamp cards: You receive a stamp for every 5 oz. of shaved ice you purchase Pros: -Friendly and sweet service! The workers are so easy to converse with and do their best to ensure you get exactly what you want. -Variety of toppings. -Very clean area. -Parking was plentiful for a Friday night. -As of right now, it is the SD destination for shaved ice! Cons: -Flavor of matcha shaved ice was bland. -In my opinion there should be a smaller size offered than the regular. The staff here is really friendly. I enjoyed their wide range of toppings including more Taiwanese toppings such as hand rolled mochi (rice balls), grass jelly, fig jelly, almond jelly, and much more. The only thing I didn't like was that they charge by weight yet they don't let you have a say in how much snow they put in the cup. You can either choose to create your own and add your own toppings or to choose a combination of snow and toppings that are preselected. Either way they still charge by weight. Also you're only allowed to get two flavors if you get the large size. Green tea snow is good especially with the condensed milk and the original flavor is a light milk flavor. The hand rolled mochi does harden if it's on the snow for too long so if you get it make sure to eat it quickly! Seating is limited but they do have some outdoor seating. Don't forget to get a stamp card! Overall, workers are nice and the snow is a refreshing treat especially on a hot day. read more

I absolutely love this place! I loved how there was a great variety of Asian-influenced flavors to choose from. I got the matcha green tea ice and the Thai tea ice. I was even more impressed with the high quality ingredients I was able to top my ices with. This was my first time visiting this establishment and I'd have to say that the staff was more than helpful. They are located inside Pangea bakery- be careful where you park because there is an older Asian man that works across from here at the massage place that likes to tow your car away!! I first saw this place from a friend's Instagram picture before the whole "snow ice" thing became big. I went here with some friends when this place was still a pop up shop inside of Pangea bakery. They have really interesting flavors like sesame snow ice. The colors they use on the outside and inside of the building are really eye catching. The parking lot this is located in is very small. It's near Dumpling Inn and Kula. Perfect place for dessert after eating at any of these places. I would say it's worth a try. I think now you get whatever flavor of snow ice you want and you can add whatever toppings you want then they weigh it out. Kind of like Yogurtland or any frozen yogurt shop but pricier. My favorite part about it was how delicate the taste is without being overly sweet. Presentation -Seriously, this is something I never review on, but my bowl was downright beautiful. I love all kinds of frozen desserts. You name it, and I probably love it. With that in mind, what could go wrong about this place? Came here for the first time, and since I've heard good things about this place, my expectations were kinda high. If you've read my previous reviews, I'm a fan of minimalist decor and stand by the whole "less is more" saying, so you could imagine my reaction when I walked in. I got a huge "interior design boner" when I stepped inside the place. Loved the minimal seating, and the flashy blue colored paint that covered wall, with the adorable little logo of the place. It's was a little busy when I came in, but it cleared up when I finished paying. Being that it was my first time there, my friend told how it worked. If you've been to a froyo place, that's essentially how it works. You pick the flavor, but you don't get the shaved ice, the employee get it for you. You can choose from three sizes (Small, Medium, Large), and you pick flavor after that. I got the Matcha Green Tea. From there, you put whatever you toppings you want. I recommend you try the homemade mochi ball things that they have; They're really good. In addition to that, I added boba and almond jelly. The pricing is $0.48 per ounce, so your toppings really add up. I paid a total of $9 for two smalls, but each of our cups were 10oz, hahaha! The employee who rang me up offered me a stamp card, and I reluctantly said yes. She was so nice about it and was extremely friendly. I got double stamps because on Mondays they give double stamps (you get one stamp for every 5oz you pay). After paying, I was really excited to start eating my shaved ice. Now, I'm really peculiar about how I liked my shaved ice, and I've honestly never been more impressed with the texture of it at this place. Everything was so good, and I really liked how chill, no pun intended, this was place. Absolutely love this place! So much that I've just gone three times in one week. I was never a big fan of frozen yogurt fad with the toppings and stuff, but this, the frozen flavored ice, I love it. My personal favorite is the passion fruit flavor with lychee, mango, and the mango poppers (which are addicting in itself). Add a bit of condensed mill and it's the perfect dessert. They also have pre-made combos which have been amazing. The green tea one is also amazing, but my favorite will be the passion fruit one. My only complaint would be that some of the fruits aren't always the ripest. I find their pineapple and kiwi to be a little to sour for my personal tastes, but the lychee and mango has always been good. Can't comment too much on price. It does cost more than an average ice cream and depending on how many ounces, I suppose it can get pretty expensive, but I'm definitely willing to pay for it. read more

Finally today we decided to skip SomiSomj and go across the street and what a wonderful experience . I had the flavor of the month lychee rose and it was perfectly refreshing and not too sweet . My little one had cookies and cream and she loved it . The fruit toppings were fresh and the place is very clean. We will be coming back soon. Delicious! The closest thing you can get to snow in San Diego without having to drive to OC! The people who work are always welcoming and let you sample a flavor if you're unsure of what you want. Some of the flavors are bland, but some are actually very good in flavor! I always get the coconut or green tea but like to switch it around. Today was their grand opening, and it was free! I loved their original shaved ice. I got it with strawberry, moshi and fig jelly. So delicious! It wasn't too sweet either. It was super light and fluffy. My sister in-law got the black sesame. I wasn't too big of a fan of the black sesame, but I don't like that flavor usually anyway. If you like black sesame, I think you would like that shaved ice flavor. Overall, I would return to this place. I loved it! read more

This place was pretty cool. The idea is really awesome. It's literally shaved ice. It melts in your mouth and looks really interesting. It was a little pricier than I was expecting. That being said, I still prefer getting frozen yogurt. But I definitely recommend this place as something you should try out at least once! Get it with condensed milk as it's a nice addition. If the establishment is going to suggest a specific combo of ingredients -- there should be a flat fee for the creation. (Kind of like coldstones). I know this place would be great for summer, i never tried anything with condensed milk other than the chocolate rice porridge we have in the Philippines but when i had them add that milk, everything tasted great. It's like a flavored shaved ice, when you look at it, it looks like ice cream but less creamy and less thick which is good since we had these while waiting for our names to be called at the rotating sushi on the other side, and after eating this, we were not full at all and still have space for sushi LoL. I went during a Saturday early afternoon, when it wasn't as busy. My friend and I just came back from eating Korean food nearby, and we were looking for a great dessert place. We decided to try out this new (new to use) shaved snow place because of its high ratings on Yelp! I ordered the Cookie Monster, which consisted of black sesame shaved snow, strawberries, crushed Oreo cookies, and condensed milk (optional and they ask you if you'd like some on top). I thought having strawberries would taste weird, since I don't normally eat strawberries with Oreos or black sesame-flavored dessert. I'm glad I tried something out of my comfort zone because it turned out to taste really good! The sweetness of the strawberries complemented the taste of the shaved snow and crushed Oreos. The condensed milk made the overall dessert a little sweeter, and just enough to get me wanting more, so if they ever ask if you want some condensed milk on top, say "yes"! My friend ordered the Matcha Comin'atcha, which consisted of Matcha shaved snow, red beans, lychee, mochi, and condensed milk as well. I was able to try some of it, and it was very well-made! The shaved snow actually tasted like matcha, unlike other dessert places that claimed to serve matcha too. While competitors' matcha have tasted "fake", this one tastes real and straight from Japan. Red beans and mochi are two of the regular pairings one would get when ordering something matcha-flavored. Lychee added to the texture and taste, which I greatly approved of. I also tried their Café con Panna which consisted of coffee shaved snow, Oreos, Panna cotta, and caramel drizzle. The ingredients were very well combined and complemented each other through taste and texture! The Oreos were really great in this different dessert. Even though they weren't the main ingredient, I thoroughly enjoyed the Oreos with the delicious panna cotta! Overall, I would definitely come back here at the end of a busy and tiring week and/or during the hot sunny San Diego days, when I just want to refresh and cool down.
