Great food and great service. We really enjoy the food and atmosphere. A pleasant surprise in Waxahachie.

Our experience at Ohana Sushi in Waxahachie left a lot to be desired. We ordered two old fashioneds, which should have been straightforward. Instead, one came sickeningly sweet with an unlisted cinnamon syrup, and the other still had a strong cinnamon taste. When we questioned this, the server casually mentioned the cinnamon syrup--something not disclosed on the menu. I had to specifically ask her to take one back rather than her responding promptly. Next, they brought our sushi rolls, but no plates, no soy sauce, and not even dishes for dipping. We had to ask for all those basics. I specifically chose two rolls without cream cheese--because I don't want cream cheese in my sushi--and yet one still had it. The server's response was to chat with a manager but not to offer any solution, compensation, or correction. Overall, if a menu lists certain ingredients, that's what should arrive. Adding things like cinnamon in a drink or cream cheese in a roll--especially when people might have dietary needs--is careless. They need to be more attentive to both the menu and the customer's feedback. read more

Had a sushi craving and decided to stop in. Everyone was very nice, just kind of slow in service. Cute little poke bowl and sushi restaurant. Clean and kept. The sushi is pretty decent. We had the eel-matic-roll, fusion roll, California, and Mike Miyagi roll. For starters we had the spicy edamame. The edamame didn't really taste as great as we wanted it to, not really spicy, and kinda greasy. We'd come back to try other dishes. read more

Good food, nice people. It is worth a visit. I was a little unsure when we walked in, but was quickly impressed with the food and service.

It's a good place if you want to eat some healthy food without all the added sauces. We enjoy the steak and vegetables along with the entertainment, especially if there are young kids sitting with you. The cooks are usually pretty good. Some have big personalities and are fun to play around with. Every server we've had has been good The bar upgrade was a nice change but it could use a facelift all over. We were seated really quickly and our waitress was very attentive to filling our waters and checking in. Food was also made very quickly. All the components of the poke bowl were very fresh and flavorful. The booths are well spaced and the green tea we ordered came in a beautiful tea pot. Friday night, September 5th, 9pm ish: Sushi and Ramen was excellent as usual. My favorite place to get sushi in the waxahachie area, and their Tan Tan Ramen is excellent. Never have any problems here--usually. Friday night I took my wife out on the first date night we've been able to have without the kids in months. During our dinner I noticed that there was a second source of music competing with the overhead music. It was pretty loud and it was super annoying to have both in competition because it wasn't music at that point just very loud noise. Also, we were sitting on the very periphery of the dining room next to the outside wall. I asked our waitress if there was music or something coming from the kitchen. She said, "yeah. It's pretty loud huh?" And then told us don't worry she'll take care of it, which she did. A+ for her customer service. I tipped her very well for that. She had turned the music in the kitchen off. But this is the problem, the ignorant and obstinate staff, in the kitchen turned it back on after about 10 minutes. I was very disappointed in their indifference to the customers dining experience. I could go on and on about how this wouldn't be in their own best interests, but i have a feeling that any rational and intelligent person out there would be able to come to those conclusions in their own, unlike the kitchen staff whom thought it was appropriate to be defiant to customer satisfaction. We usually come here at least once every 1-2 months. Usually service isn't too bad. Today was questionable. Sunday 12:00 pm Mother's Day. It was slightly busy but we still didn't have to wait long for service. We sat down and they didn't even give us a menu. We ordered their steamed dumplings since my kids love them. They came out kinda cold. My husband ordered combination fried rice, cherry blossom rolls, and another roll he couldn't remember. I ordered the miso ramen soup. Today the miso soup didn't even have corn in it, which it should, but I just didn't feel like bothering to ask for it because our waitress wouldn't check up on us. My husband said his rolls and rice were ok, weren't too bad. Today was kinda busy but it seemed the staff struggled to keep up with their tables. Our waitress only checked on us once and when we asked to pay our bill she brought us our check and took soo long to come get it so we could leave . When my husband asked another server if they could help they all ignored him. I've noticed that this restaurant staff don't bother to help each other out. This place hit the spot! We were craving ramen and sushi and could not have been more satisfied leaving this place. I wanted to come back a few hours later and eat it all again. We started with appetizers (house salad, pan seared gyoza, and a Umami Roll). The umami roll was topped with crispy garlic flakes and added the most unique flare to the roll. My fiancé and I both talked about how good the flavor was. As for the ramen, we both got spicy level 2 which would be equivalent to a mild Jalapeño so it complimented the dish perfectly. Took the WHOLE family here. One of the owners came to our table to check on us personally. Our waiter was the greatest. (Sorry I forgot his name) but was very amazing. No problems at all. We are new to the area so we are having fun trying new restaurants. Ohana has sushi, poke bowls and ramen. Our server was friendly, helpful and attentive. Hubby had the Ragin Cajun Roll, ginger cream, scallions, masago, shrimp tempura, topped with avocado & crawfish, spicy mayo, house chili, honey wasabi cream, and cajun butter sauce. He said it was very good, just the right amount of spice. I got the Aloha Tuna Bowl, Tuna cubes, cucumber, avocado, mixed greens, red onions, seaweed salad, crab mix, over rice, topped with spicy mayo, kombu soy sauce. The tuna wasn't fishy tasting and the portion was just right. Next time I would like to try the ramen, there were several to choose from. They also have stir fried noodles, rice dishes, teriyaki dishes and more. A good place for lunch or dinner. read more

This place is such a meme, there were no asians in here and they were playing the most country of country playlist despite the beautiful asian style interior. However the food was not bad! I think if you are looking for high quality sushi this is not the place. They use a lot of cream cheese and ground tuna in their rolls. We got a roll (mike miyagi something), salmon poke bowl and the squid karaage. The squid was surprisingly very good! Poke salmon was solid and the mangos were good but threw me off. Seems like they've hired new staff and the new team is appalling. They're all a bunch of kids who need adult supervision, including the manager Nhan. I came in and the female waitress was incredibly rude and snappy with me. I called out the incident because I am not going to be treated like that, nobody does. I understand we get overwhelmed when things get busy, but this was uncalled for. She continued to talk back and told me they didn't have a manager. Wow. The kids said their manager was out and wouldn't be back until later, there was no supervision within the store. Finally got ahold of a manager, he immediately took his employees side, despite not being there to witness the situation. He let me know that they're overwhelmed because they are short staffed, I get that but still not ok. I work in customer service too. He told me I could contact him, and come back on another day and the meal would be on him. Contacted him, never heard a response back. This place went downhill, never coming back. read more

This is an awesome restaurant! We came here for a bridal shower about an hour drive for us. They had a whole section for us that made the event more intimate. Our waitress, the other staff, and owner did an amazing job tending to our party of about 20 ladies. We felt like they really cared about us and making sure the night was special for the bride to be. They had plenty of drink options alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I don't drink alcohol so I went for the mango tango with lychee jelly. It was so good I finished it and ordered another one, this time with popping boba! Still good. The party started off with some appetizers such as tuna tataki, salmon ceviche, etc. Everything I tried was delicious! I liked the hamachi ? Which is this fish that has a dipping sauce. Since I'm not sure about the name just see the picture below. I didn't think I would like it, but it turned out to be really delicious and I would definitely get it again. I also liked all of the sushi rolls I tried and I tried too many to know the names of it. I did bring some home for my boyfriend who ate some the next morning and said it was good! I also got a ramen bowl called tonkotsu black garlic which lives up to the name. The black garlic flavor was strong. I liked the broth, noodles were more soft in texture but still delicious nonetheless. The chashu pieces had a mix of different cuts which included some fatty parts, lean, and even some sweet flavor I really liked. I liked the egg that came with it too. Sorry but nothing special to say about this place. To be fare I did order online and had deliver so I could be better in person. But the fried rice was average, chicken average and almost no flavor. Had to order check fried rice and add shrimp to get shrimp fried rice, it was $4 for 2 shrimp. Teriyaki chicken below average. Just not impressed read more

Ohana is located right off of Highway 287, next door to a small church and a storage facility. I decided to make an order over the phone for lunch on a Monday afternoon. I ended up ordering: Sushi Bento (Lunch special), $11.99 prior to tax- Lunch specials are available Monday- Friday, 11 am- 2 pm. I made my order for to go around 1:40 pm. This meal came with a cut tuna roll (came out to 6 pieces), 4 sushi and 2 chef's daily salads. The cut tuna roll was not tightly rolled and so it fell apart when picked up with chopsticks. Not prettiest presentation, but tasted fine. The sushi didn't taste that fresh and reminded me of grocery market sushi (although I will say that getting sushi at a few local Japanese markets back in Los Angeles, some are very good but this sushi isn't). The two salads were good. One was a poke salad and the other was an assorted vegetable salad with a tomato based dressing. Sashimi Bento (Lunch Special), $11.99 prior to tax- This meal came with 1/2 cut California roll (came out to 4 pieces), 5 pieces of sashimi and 2 chef's daily salads. My husband's California roll pieces were not tightly rolled either (possibly the same person who rolled my tuna roll). My husband thought they tasted okay. He also felt that the sashimi was not as fresh as other Japanese places that we have dined at. My husband also liked the salads. His meal came with shredded radish but not mine. This is a garnish I usually do like to eat. -------------------------- (Total= $25.96 after tax) Being that we missed the lunch hour rush time, it was empty on a Monday, around 2 pm when we came to pick up our order. The employee who took care of us was friendly. She provided us with chopsticks, soy sauce packets and napkins. I thought this lunch meal was fine for me but I think may be on the small side for others. I am typically a smaller eater. I think Ohana is just okay. I don't know if I would go back if I was in the area. Please note that it seems that the lunch special prices have gone up by $2 since my visit to this restaurant back in January. read more

We had the ahi tuna tower, lobster roll, Waxahachie roll and 2 others. Each roll was different and delicious. When in Rome, I had to order the Waxahachie roll which had fried chicken and honey mustard and the combo was really good. Absolutely wonderful visit. Service was quick. Our server came to the table right away. Was helpful in ordering. Very pleasant young man. The staff kept the table clear of any unused/dirty dishes. Our drinks were full thru our entire meal. The ramen was amazing. It's a lot so you will either be seriously full or have plenty of leftovers for a late snack/lunch the next day! Stopped in for a business lunch and was glad to find this place was easy to access from from the service road. It's nice inside and plenty of space to spread out. The menu is massive. There is a solid three pages of food and 2 to 3 pages of drinks. I was here for a business lunch so I didn't get to enjoy but best believe that I noticed that there were some great looking cocktails on that menu ;) Note to self for next time. We ordered some spring rolls and garlic edamame. I got the spider roll which was so different than most places, in the best way, with asparagus and spring mix lettuce. My coworker got a bento box. The facility looks like an older building with nice interior decor. The staff was friendly. We were greeted by our waiter right away. The food came out in less than 10 minutes after we ordered. Prices & portions were reasonable. We liked the salmon & shellfish poke bowls so much, that we got 1 of each to go! The combo stir fried noodles were tasty with chunks of tender flavorful chicken & beef & big juicy shrimps! The chicken katsu curry was ok, good portion, but not as flavorful as the other items.
