For a typical Chinese buffet (but with a Japanese name?), it has a slightly more impressive selection with the same, average buffet quality - they have oysters on the half shell, crawfish, lots of crabs, a hibachi grill, a pretty solid sushi selection, and a chocolate fountain. Obviously quality is sacrificed at a buffet, but this place is so cheap, who's complaining, right? I was stuffed here with pretty good tasting food. Lowlights - fat free ice cream was terrible and obviously filled with artificial sweeteners (my siblings got the fat free while I opted for the regular fatty ice cream, which was extremely creamy), and the service. Service was terrible - we had to wait quite a while for our used/dirty plates to be cleared so our table was constantly cluttered with dirty plates as we progressed throughout our meal. Unlike other buffets around the area charging 2$ lower but no where same selection or quality and taste as this place.i took 1 star off because of the service. I took my grandson and goddaughter and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the service. I have driven pass this spot fo years because I don't do buffets however the food was monitored and te service was excellent. The food was good a nicely seasoned. I always enjoyed this buffet but I was so disrespected today my granddaughter gave the crab cracker to the family sitting next to us and when we started to leave the waitress ran after us in a full capacity restaurant shouting we stole the crab cracker blocked the door until I took her back to table with me and the family told her they had it I didn't get no apology or anything never again read more

This place is NOT your typical Chinese buffet. They did an amazing job serving all kinds of food from sushi rolls to barbeque fresh and delicious, totally beyond my expectation. Who would imagine a buffet would have one of the best BBQ ribs in town? Yes this place does... I didn't get to try every single item because they have too many varieties. But everything I tried was on point, literally, even the chocolate fountain was tasty (they use dark chocolate to balance the sweetness of the marshmallow). Cut-yourself roast beef that was mangled to no end. The ham was your typical cheap chewy cut. The clientele, for the most part, act as if it is their last meal with salads and crabs piled so high on the plate it takes a second hand for them to hold on top as they transport their plate back to the table... First time visiting Ichiban Buffet for lunch. It was shortly after the weekday lunch crowd. Great value for the price. Staff friendly was friendly. Dining area was clean. Staff removed dirty plates promptly. Buffet area was clean, food nicely arranged and refilled quickly. Food seemed freshly made. Sushi rolls were great. The lunch buffet has everything. Ribs, ham, turkey, steamed shrimp, fried blue crabs, vegetables, potatoes, several popular chinese dishes, sushi rolls, made to order stir fry, many soups, salads, desserts and so much more. I don't understand the low reviews on here. For the price this is an excellent buffet with options for all. The crab kept on filling and the sushi was pretty fresh. What I loved was the variety of soups available as well as a good mix of both Eastern and Western cuisine. Pretty much ate so much, the one meal lasted me the whole day. One of my favorite buffets in the greater Philadelphia area. This former Old Country Buffet location is perfect for a buffet and while the crowds can get pretty large, that only means that they're doing something right. The fact that they have galbi here take the cake for me. While not the most authentic take on the dish, its all you can eat so you really cant beat it. The hibachi station is pretty solid with a plethora of choices of protein, veggies and sauces. The buffet was a great experience! the seating arrangement was comfortable and the food was very well prepared and they offered a wide variety of foods. They brought out fresh seafood often and the meats were very fresh. Sushi bar was ok, and the dessert bar was full! Cake, ice cream, and sweets of all kinds! Oh, and did I mention a very satisfying chocolate fountain? I was able to coat strawberries in chocolate, which was superb. All in all, it was a great experience with great food. read more

Thing is, the cuts of meat are usually poor quality, sides are blandish and basic cafeteria fare. But there are a couple of passable dishes that make up for the poor choices too. I use to come here often then of course like any other place quality has seriously gone down. Went yesterday 4/29/2019 with my boyfriend and had one plate and left. Food was horrible seriously. I got food poisoning today from one plate. That is all I ate yesterday. This is not the place to be. The rice tasted like it's been sitting all day. And even had a funk to it. If you're considering this place be careful. To me it's not worth it. Update review: I had one plate with rice and chicken with broccoli on it. That's it. If you knew the food wasn't fresh which I'm sure it should have all been on timers. You shouldn't have served it to your guest. I'm well aware it wasn't busy Monday that was the point of us going. Visit was 2/22/20 around 8pm. Party of four. I don't plan on returning to this place ever. Staff was inattentive from the moment we walked through the door. If it wasn't for the other people I came with I would have walked back out. We waited 15-20 mins while a family was up front arguing about being double billed and numerous people who were doing takeout just walked up and got rung up in front of the patrons standing in line. There should be a separate line or something as it wasn't fair. The salad bar was basically nonexistent as was fresh fruit. Which I never experienced before in my life. If anything that should have been fresh and plentiful.The crawfish were disgusting and the shrimp were sticky. The food wasn't even hot just lukewarm. Staff was extremely rude and got an attitude when I asked to switch my child's drink from a fruit punch to a lemonade. Another staff member rudely snatched napkins out of my hand when the dispenser at our table was broken. Desserts were a joke everything looked picked over and sloppy. I wouldn't recommend going there. Instead go to one of a host of other establishments in the area (Longhorn, Olive Garden, Outback even one of the Diners). You'll have a better experience. Also for those that use there credit or debit card beware!! Check, double check then check again over several days. Make sure those charges match the receipt. You get what you paid. If you are looking for a good Asian fusion, don't come here. If you are looking for good Japanese food, don't come here. If you are looking for good seafood, don't come here. However, if you are looking for somewhere cheap to eat at, this place is a good choice. Their food quality isn't the best, but if you don't mind tasty food cooked with a lot of skill and concentration, this place is good. Let's start with seafood. Some of the pictures showed snow crab legs. There were none when I visited. They had raw oysters as well, but they weren't fresh and didn't taste right. The only good thing was the steamed clams. But only if you ate the fat juicy ones. There were several that were dried up. I'm not much of a sushi fan, but even I knew that sushi wasn't supposed to be like that. The rice was hard and cold. The crab meat was hard and nothing like the others I've eaten. As for Chinese food, I was disappointed. The lomein was cold and generally hard to eat. The hibachi was mediocre. The chef didn't really try to make it look appetizing. The raw beef and chicken didn't look so good; most looked bruised. The cooked beef was chewy. The soup was like stereotypical Chinese egg drop and wonton Soup: thick and soup based. I didn't eat much of the American food. However, the mac and cheese was bad. It was probably from Craft mac and cheese, but they added watery cheese sauce and I think some melted cheese. They also had mashed sweet potato. I've never seen it made with a whole bunch of sweet potato and a sprinkling of marshmallows, unmelted. But personally, I liked it because the sweetness and cinnamon was just right. Finally, dessert was okay. The cheese cake was okay. It didn't have much of a cheese taste, but the cake was soft enough. The macaroons are okay. But the cream puffs have to go. They lacked cream and weren't soft and puffy. I know this review sounds bad, but like I said before, I came in with high expectations.
