    Dynamite Roll
    Cathal B.

This is a small family run restaurant, very authentic, excellent food and quick service. All of the sushi was delicious - salmon and avocado, snow crab, and spicy yellowtail. We saw someone else order the Dynamite Roll, and went ahead to order it too - it was just perfect. Just one of our rolls was a little less presentable than the others, but taste was still fantastic, so I loved everything here, and we'll definitely visit there again in the future. We also ordered a Bento Box Pork Tonkatsu and a Chicken Tontaksu plate. Everything highly recommended, and I especially encourage everyone to support this small family-run restaurant, such excellent, authentic Japanese food.

*Covid review* We were looking for a sushi restaurant that is open for dine in as many are currently doing carry-out or delivery only. After sticking to the normal/more popular spots (Japaneiros, Keepers, Azuma), I am so glad we came across this spot. For apps we had spicy edamame (I'm a big fan of spicy and can handle heat but these were pretty hot), gyoza and fried jalapeño. All were great and good portions - plenty to split between 3 people. They also came out quick. For rolls we had the Magic Roll, Chef Signature Roll and the Spider Roll. All of them them were very good and fresh and the presentations were great. Our server Kayla was so sweet and did a great job. She recommended the banana tempura for dessert and she was right - it's delicious and another generous portion. They could do something with the ambiance (maybe rearrange tables or brighten up the place) and they should definitely have some music on - it's kind of awkwardly quiet when everyone is silently eating! Additionally, they do not serve alcohol so maybe they'll allow BYOB? Def worth asking.. sushi and wine/sake just go together! There were 2 or 3 other tables dining in (Friday around 6:30 pm) and several people came in for to go orders. Overall, this seems to be a hidden gem and we will definitely be back!

This is our GoTo for Sushi ToGo. Great Rolls, Tempura, good prices and Great Service. After ordering for a while and requesting 3 set of chopsticks once, they remembered and include them on our orders now. Had the misfortune of our runner leaving a credit card used for payment there and before he could get home they had already called and advised us of it. Thank you!

Ichiban never disappoints. I ordered the seaweed salad and kyushu ramen. My food was very fresh and delicious. The soup was piping hot and very flavorful. Ichiban is always a great go-to restaurant and service is always phenomenal. I highly recommend this restaurant.

In my opinion, a beautiful hidden gem here in Sugar Land in terms of sushi. I have been coming to Ichiban for the last 5-6 years (if not longer) and I am not sure why I haven't reviewed this place. Tucked away in a shopping complex, it is not hard to fine but not always visible to the eye. They have recently expanded their menu and added an AMAZING appetizer which is kale tempura. Now, i know a lot of placed do kale tempura but this is one of the only places I can think of that have nailed the art of it. The kale is flash fried with the right proportion of tempura so that when you bite into it, it isn't all tempura or all kale. Drizzled with mayo and eel sauce, it adds just a tinge of sweetness that is perfect. You can get the eel sauce on the side and it is just as good. Prior to the kale tempura, my go to appetizer was their stuffed jalepenos. Each other comes with 4 jalepenos and they are pretty filling. Their sushi list is amazing. They have traditional, non-traditional rolls, sashimi and hand rolls. My go to is usually the shaggy dog (my favorite if you love shrimp tempura and just tempura in general), pink dragon (salmon based) and their vegetable tempura hand rolls. The chef is super good at also making things vegetarian if that is an option and he will always go out of his way for my husband to do that. From their other hot items, their Chicken Yakisoba noodles is my favorite. This used to be my comfort food after long residency hours and the quality and taste has not been changed or compromised this many years later. Their lunch bento boxes are also a great way to taste a little bit of everything. The Chef also has started bottling his own chili sauce which is a must. It is a beautiful blend of spices that is a bit spicy for me but a true love among spicy eaters. The restaurant is always moderately busy but it is never hard to find a table. Sitting by the kitchen is always fun because you get to see the Chef's skill at making sushi. They are very accommodating to large parties and have great servers who make the entire experience a fun time!

He's been telling me about this place for a while, so I came in already expecting great sushi, and it definitely delivered. First off, they have all-day happy hour, which is always a win. We started with the yellowtail sashimi, and it was incredibly fresh and flavorful such a great way to kick things off. For drinks, he ordered a Legend Old Fashioned, and I went with the lychee martini... and yes, I had two because it was that good light, slightly sweet, and super refreshing. For our rolls, I got the Hot Momma roll and he had the Julie Crunch roll. Everything came out perfectly fresh, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. You can really tell they put care into both the quality and the experience. Also, shoutout to Emilio he was so sweet and attentive throughout the night and really made the experience even better. Between the food, drinks, and the overall vibe, this place checked all the boxes. I can 100% see this becoming one of our regular date night spots going forward. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for great sushi and a relaxed atmosphere!

He was quick and easy to talk to. He explained that all you can eat special is everything on the menu except for whatever's out of ingredients and drinks. The menu has a picture of every dish except for the drinks. I really appreciate this a lot because I'm a visual person. All the food was as expected. My favorite was the baked scallop. Their sushi tacos were nice and crispy, it was interesting but it was big and kind of hard to eat in one bite. I kind of nibbled it around. They also had fried rice nigiri, as in the piece of rice was deep fried and topped with salmon or tuna. This was also interesting to eat. They also had udon as a part of their ayce but I'll save that for next time. Along with lots of baked scallops. Decorwise, the lights were nicely dimmed and I liked the scales lamps above us. Furniture was stable. And there's free parking out front.

Our server came to check on us quite a few times in the beginning to check if we wanted to order more but we didn't even receive our first order of food yet. Then we ordered desert which was the oreo tempura and a few scoops of ice cream. The ice cream came right away but then we waited another 20 mins when our waitress came back again and we had to ask her about the oreo. After that.. She had us wait for another 20 minutes for the check and I had to call the server from the next section to get our check. I've watched another section served by a different server who was very attentive and brought their dishes out right away when they would order things after us. It was disappointing.. Food is good and I like their many options. I wouldn't say it is the best but the fish does taste fresh. Many of their rolls contained the wasabi sauce which my partner wasn't a big fan of. Many of the rolls tasted like it was drowned in this sauce. I didn't get to take a picture of every order. The lo mein was not good, I'm not use to having lo mein with the noodles they make it with. Overall, I can see why this place is very popular but it won't be my go-to for AYCE sushi compared to another place that I like more that's nearby. I don't think I'll be coming back though as I was very displeased with the service.

The service, even when ordering take out like I did during my most recent visit, is great. The servers are friendly and even encourage you to take a seat and offer a drink if the food isn't quite ready when you arrive. We ordered over the phone and received our food 15-20 minutes after making the phone call on a Monday evening. The fish is consistently fresh and the portions are generous. I always order the Sushi Combo B because it has a bit of everything I like--generous, fresh, well formed nigiri, spider roll (my favorite), california roll, and miso soup. The chef's choice nigiri always seems to have salmon, tuna, and yellowtail but the other four pieces rotate and vary slightly. When we arrived it wasn't busy, but then again it was 6pm on a Monday. The restaurant itself is kept quite clean and it's a tad quiet with no music playing. I'm a regular here and I don't plan on frequenting any other sushi restaurant until I find something that can offer the same quality and quantity at a similar or better price.

The service was quick and friendly. The place was very clean. They played a video on a screen that we were facing that had a first person view of walking through Japan...probably Tokyo. That brought back memories. It was a nice touch. We ordered green tea, which came with its own warmer. Not as hot as I like, but the tea stayed warm through the entire meal. This looked like legit matcha rather than just tea bags in hot water. For the meal, we had tonkatsu ramen and the spicy duck ramen. We loved them both. The tonkatsu wasn't fried in a batter. It was thinly sliced with nice carmelized edges--very good. The duck was amazing! Next time, we'll try some sushi.

It was good, flavorful, and had a nice spice level but it wasn't wowing. My boyfriend and I shared the General Tso's chicken, and that was a 10 out of 10. Perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside. It came with white rice and everything paired really well together. This is the second place I've gone to that has great General Tso's chicken, and that is definitely a compliment. I would absolutely order it again. We also tried the "Honey moon" appetizer which is a stuffed jalapeño. It had crab and cream cheese with eel sauce. The jalapeño was too crunchy for me, my preference is to have it softer but I feel like the flavor wasn't really there. One of the standout appetizers was the beef tongue from the appetizer menu. That was a 10 out of 10. It came with a sauce on top that was really good and brought everything together perfectly. We had the coconut shrimp appetizer as well. The shrimp itself was decent, but the fried coating tasted like the oil wasn't very fresh. It was crunchy, but the flavor of the oil came through, so I'd rate that about a 5 out of 10. We also ordered fried calamari . I'd rate that around a 6 out of 10. It was okay, but when you bit into it, the octopus would slide out and leave you mostly with the fried outer crust, and the crust itself wasn't that flavorful. The ambiance was beautiful, very clean, modern, and nicely designed. It felt comfortable and well put together. Service was fine, nothing that stands out.
