I've been coming to Dumpling World for a while. It's a very small dumplings shop in Sugar Land near First Colony Mall. Everything is reasonably priced and super delicious. Because the store is small, it does get very busy during lunch and dinner hours. I usually order to-go, which also takes a while, but it's definitely worth the wait. You won't be disappointed with whatever you choose. Every dish is super flavor-packed and perfectly prepared. My favorites are the Braised Beef Noodle Soup, Pork & Scallion Spicy & Sour Dumplings, and Shrimp & Pork & Chive Pan-Fried Thumb Buns. The dumplings here are fantastic, good variety and bold flavor. I also tried the braised beef noodle, it was reminiscent of a Viet beef stew with more spice. The broth was very flavorful with a nice and fragrant amount of spice. The thumb buns were among my favorite of the dumplings too, crispy, slightly chewy texture with a tasty and balanced filling. I would prefer if the portions were a bit bigger and if they were more generous with the beef toppings. As other reviewers mentioned, the service also has room for improvement. Grabbed lunch here with a friend on a Monday and had a great experience! It wasn't busy when we arrived, so we were seated right away. Our server was very kind, attentive and was happy to walk us through the menu. The restaurant itself has a clean, chill vibe, which made it a perfect place for a casual catch-up lunch. We ordered the pork xiao long bao, green beans, and beef noodle soup. The xiao long bao were definitely the highlight! It was incredibly juicy, with very tender pork, and the wrapper was thin and had a great texture. The beef noodle soup was also delicious, with a generous amount of meat, bok choy, and the broth was rich and full of flavor. Small note, the green beans were a bit on the tougher side, but still packed with a delicious garlicky flavor that made them enjoyable overall. I first discovered Dumpling World through their Clear Lake location, and I liked it so much that I had to try the Sugar Land location as well. Even on weekdays, this place is consistently busy. The staff are always very friendly, the food tastes fresh and made to order, and I have never had an unpleasant dining experience here. Whenever I come here, I usually order the Cheese Crab Puffs. While this is a fairly standard appetizer at many restaurants, I genuinely think Dumpling World does them better than most places I have tried. The wrapper is lighter and airier while still staying crispy, and the filling leans slightly sweet, which I personally really enjoy. Of course, I also have to order the Pork Xiao Long Bao. The wrappers are impressively thin, and each dumpling is packed with soup. Another must order is the Pan Fried Pork and Scallion Thumb Buns. They are addictively crispy on the outside and filled with juicy, flavorful pork. On this visit, I also tried the Eggplant and Minced Pork Noodles for the first time, and I would definitely order them again. The pork and eggplant were very flavorful, and the hand pulled noodles were thin and satisfying, though slightly overcooked. The sauce was also a bit oily, but that is fairly common with dishes like this, so it did not bother me much. It is just something to keep in mind. Overall, Dumpling World continues to be one of my favorite casual Chinese spots. Came here on a weekday afternoon and was quickly seated! The waitress was so kind to us and kept warning us that all of the food was hot and to be careful. The pork xiao long bao was DELICIOUS; possibly one of my favorites I've ever had! There is a generous amount of soup in there with amazing flavor and unlike many other XLB, it doesn't taste mushy and the broth is very clear. I would come back and just order a bunch of this! We also ordered the beef noodle soup which was just ok to me, the beef had a lot of fatty pieces and less meat and the soul could've haf more flavor. We also ordered the stir-fried green beans with minced pork which was also just ok; the beans were a little on the hard side and we felt that it needed to be cooked longer. For dessert, we saw their specials menu at the counter had chocolate hazelnut dumplings, so we ordered them at the end so it was fresh and hot. It came with 6 dumplings with nutella filling. They were delicious but the amount of nutella definitely starts to hit you after awhile and you have a big mouthful of nutella (not complaining though). Went in for a solo lunch and ordered way too much. The interior is very clean and organized with booths on the edge and tables in the middle. There was a steady in and out of customers and lots of pick up orders. Ordered: braised pork pot stickers, Szechuan Tan Tan noodles, shrimp and pork spicy wontons, pork xiao long bao, and to go - pork and scallion pot stickers, shrimp chow mein. No regrets. Dumpling World has been a family favorite since they opened! We love their xiao long bao, green beans, and their pai gu has the potential to be really good! Last time I had their pai gu it was very average, but this time it was sooo good, I was stunned. It was sweet and super tender. The XLB is super solid, though I feel like they changed the skin recently, and I prefer the previous dumpling skin. What I love about this place is its accessibility - all the staff can speak chinese (it's usually their default even) and so lots of chinese people feel comfortable here. They're able to talk in chinese the entire time and it gives the place an authentic feel; however, the staff can also speak english, so non-chinese speakers don't feel completely lost. I think it's what contributes to Dumpling World's success - they're able to cater to multiple people and language isn't a limiting factor. Service is friendly! Been here several times, and the food is always consistent, hot, and fresh! Most notably are the xiao long bao (soup dumplings) and pan fried thumb dumplings, our favorites. I recently discovered their braised beef and hot chili oil/garlic noodles, and OMG. Hands down one of the best dishes there. Melt in your mouth braised beef with hot chili oil and minced garlic over a bed of hand-cut, thick rice noodles. It's umami in a bowl. Dumpling World has been on my radar for awhile. There's one east and west of me about the same distance. I was in the Sugar Land area and made it a point to check it out. This location is located in an older strip center with plenty of parking. The restaurant is pretty small inside and the tables are super close to each other. When I arrived around 2pm on a Sunday, the place was pretty packed. I came here to take food to a friend's house nearby and was going to order when I got to the restaurant. The staff was friendly and helpful and had no problem with us sitting at a table while we waited for our food. The one thing I was looking forward to some soup dumplings because of the cold weather but you can only get these dining in. It was a major let down but understandable as they want to serve that product at it's best. It essentially falls apart if you wait to long to eat it. I ended up ordering a little variety of dumplings to really get a feel of the place. Off the appetizer menu, I ordered a couple of orders of fried chicken wings. It only comes in an order of 4 which I thought was a bit small for the price. That being said, the wings were really good. It would have been nice with some sort of sauce but ate well without it. For dumplings we tried a few different categories. Under the boiled dumpling category, I ordered the shrimp, pork and chive dumpling. The filling was really nice and was full of flavor. I typically like pan fried dumplings more, but their dough is has a nice bite to it without being too chewy or soggy. Under the pan fried category, I ordered the pan fried thumb bun with pork and scallion. These were better than the boiled and very flavorful. My favorite dish was of the pot sticker variety. I got the beef and onion pot stickers. These were so good. The beef seemed to be braised beef and was packed with flavor. With all their dumplings, they did not skimp on the fillings either. This was a very solid place and closer than heading to Chinatown. I will definitely be returning here to get my dumpling fix. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while and glad I finally did. Service and food were mediocre. I also got charged for a soda that I did not order.. The braised beef noodle soup was lukewarm. It was semi chilly in Houston, so a hot bowl would have been ideal. The skin on the dumplings were thick and dried/hard to chew. The minced pork eggplant noodles were delicious though. I've been here twice in two weeks and I love it so much. Imagine Hai di lao at a much more reasonable price, better portions, and prompt service. The restaurant seems less high end but lots of seating, service is always quick, and they always have one kid show playing. I love the green beans, sesame noodles, chicken fried rice, and the knife cut braised beef noodles. The colored dumplings and xiao long bao were solid. One of our favorite spots for great soup dumplings on a cold day. Came right before week day rush hour around noon. We got sat immediately, but shortly afterwards there was a long line of people waiting at the door. Smaller restaurant so not good for large parties. But they do take out orders as well. Simple inner decor but efficient. The water pitcher is delivered to the table and has sliced lemons inside which is a great touch. We got 4 dishes that we have tried before and knew we liked. Pork xao long bao 4.5/5 the soup inside could be a bit hotter in temperature. And the soup ladles could be a little bigger to slurp the soup but the flavor and size were great. Pork and scallion dumpling in spicy sour sauce 5/5 amazing flavor with the right amount of spice. The sauce would go great over a bed of rice. The dumplings are a great size. Stir fried string green beans with minced pork 4.5/5 scant amount of minced pork compared to the same dish at other restaurants. Not too heavy on the garlic and no ginger. But plenty of green beans and tastes great. Szechuan tan tan noodles 5/5 so much noodles! We have before and after mixing pictures. Oh, so this used to be my old favorite spot called Singapore cafe and I was super sad when that Business closed down! Now we have a dumpling place and I walked in at 12:45 PM on a Saturday and to my surprise it was packed! We were actually seated fairly quickly and given water yet I had to wave the waiter down... a lot of people did actually because there were only two waiters. The reason I took off one star is because I saw sweet and sour pork ribs as the special and was told they ran out! Booo.
