Hon has been on my list of places to try for the longest time and I finally got to try it out this past weekend. My friends were in town so I brought them along as well since they also love sushi. We went for an early dinner around 5 and there was barely any one there. The restaurant is pretty spacious and cute on the inside. We ordered the garlic edamame and miso soup to start off. The garlic edamame was really good, however the miso soup was very salty. For the sushi we got two rolls and we also each ordered a sushi and shashimi combo. The two rolls we ordered were pretty good! The combo shushi wasn't too bad either however we've had better sushi at other places. The roles were a little pricey in our opinion. They were both close to $20/role, however the sushi combo is a good deal. Lastly the service was really good here! The server was very nice. The service here is amazing! The food is delicious and always fresh. The place has soft lighting and either they had music or it was my internal jukebox but I was so happy while I was eating there. Came here for the lunch specials only to learn that prices have increased. $20 for two specialty rolls which includes a miso soup. Husband got the spicy Korean ramen with shrimp. The rolls and ramen portions are huge. One person could easily share a roll & bowl of ramen. Wow... this quaint and friendly sushi spot has the others beat. I came in for a late lunch, ordered the Poke Bowel cause it's a good blend of food to sample. It was great, fresh fish perfect rice and just enough sauce to blend it all very nicely. Green tea and perfect miso soup filled out the meal. So the staff... reminded me of a pensione in Italy. Seemed more like family (the ones you like) and friends than workers. Actually they all sat and had lunch together next to me while I finished my meal. Business is closed between 2:30 and 5 to give the staff time together I assume. Completely reminded me of the original Macaroni Grill (Leon Springs) when Phil used to run it. Hon sushi is a gem hidden in plain sight! We took my parents earlier today because we were hungry (duh) and wanted a spot closeby. If you look at the shopping center, this one is a huge standout. Next to Him sushi are random places: Little Caesars, Wingstop, just random . This is why I say a hidden gem in plain sight. Surprisingly, for a Friday night it was pretty empty which is shocking because you should not sleep on this place. We had monkey brains and chicken karagge for an appetizer. My parents were obsessed with the monkey brains. They are planning on coming back for that alone haha. The chicken karagge was ok. I think the sauce was lacking from other places we've tried this at. My husband had the combination fried rice, my mom had the vegetable fried rice, my dad had two rolls (tuna roll & California roll) and I had a butterfly kiss roll which is my absolute favorite roll ever. For the two appetizers, the meal options I mentioned above and a sprite for my dad we paid $95+ tip. A l s o we got free miso soup which was nice and unexpected :-) My husband and I love coming here and grabbing a sushi roll or two and a friend rice- it's filling and quick if you call ahead! Thanks to the yelp reviews, we decided to try this place... it did not disappoint. We had a good experience. Food was good and service was also good. We ordered the Love Boat combo. Enough to be shared by two people. The combi also came with miso soup. It came with 5 kinds of sashimi, 2 of each kind. It was fresh ,as it should be, and the slices where thicker than most. We're so glad we found this restaurant! We got seated right away. The menus had pictures for every roll and they said what was in the roll as well as what was on top instead of just telling you the general ingredients. They also had color identifiers for spice and fried. I haven't seen a menu this clearly layer out and was very impressed. After we ordered, they brought us miso soup and it was probably the best I'd ever had. Then they brought out our four rolls on a boat. It was hard to pick a favorite. I think the Viking ended up being our favorite after the rock star. The customer service was even good. The employees were kind and seemed like they wanted to be there. I went here for the first based off of the reviews on yelp and this place did not disappoint in the slightest. When you walk in, the decor and environment is very welcoming and looks fantastic. I went with a date and we split the BFF, Hamahama, and Vikings roll. We honestly couldn't choose our favorite. Usually blind tasting sushi for the first time you may have one you don't like but all 3 were absolutely out of the world. With those 3 special rolls and 2 beers it came out to about 72 bucks, for some of the best sushi I've had in the Dallas area I'll be back absolutely. I only ordered from the special rolls menu and didn't even get to touch the main menu. Hon Sashimi they are cut very thick and large All of it was so good and it was not fishy at all All the rolls that I posted a picture of below were very good. I don't like cream cheese in my sushi so these didn't have any. the Ahi Tower portion was a litttle small compared to other sushi restaurants i've been too. The Udon was good but it's a huge bowl so I think sharing with someoen will be best if you are eating rolls too on the side. read more

This is my favorite restaurant to go to for sushi. My husband took me here in 2016 and we go back as often as possible. So sad this is the first time I've thought to check-in and right a review. The people working there are very nice and friendly and more than willing to make a recommendation if you ask for one. We always order the garlic edamame which is so yummy we often get full on that and have a hard time finishing our sushi...lol. This place has the biggest rolls of any place I've ever been to. We've never ordered it, but they have a boat full of sushi which always looks amazing when we see it being delivered to customers. My husband, who does not consider sushi a meal, never finishes his entire sushi roll and, trust me, this man can put it down. When I ask him if he wants to split the pork chop at Perry's with me he looks at my like I'm crazy (and he always cleans his plate), but he has yet to be successful of finishing a sushi roll at Hon's. What a surprise when I walked in. I didn't see a crowd. The yelp rating for this place is very high. So I was expecting a line during lunch hour. Okay, I shouldn't be complaining about not seeing a line :) The menu is pretty elaborate for a first time visitor. There is a variety of sushi rolls and sashimi. If you like ramen, you'll be happy too. I was interested in the lunch menu. I ordered a lunch combo that included the Hon Ramen and 3 pieces of takoyaki. I think if they do their signature dish right, everything should be right also. The broth looked whiteish yellow and creamy. It was mild in a sense that it was not overpowering, but it was still very delicious. The fried pork was good also. It was not too fatty. The takoyaki was nicely browned. It was toasty outside and chewy inside. Of course, I liked the tiny piece of squid inside. As far as a Japanese restaurant, this place is not overly decorated with all the Japanese cultural items. But you can still tell the ethnicity from the open kitchen. What is interesting is if you look up the ceiling you see some "clouds in the blue skies". Our service was okay, we went in on a Monday and it was not too busy so we were quickly seated which was nice. Our waiter was great! I did not find their fish fresh at all, and it was extremely slimy and fishy. Softshell crab overly breaded like ebi style. Agedashi tofu, this was not agedashi tofu at all.
