Delicious for kids and adults. Fun to watch them being made and lots of topping choices that aren't extra cost. It is a bit expensive, but you do get a good portion. My only suggestion would be to have a dedicated freeze table for the non dairy items. read more

This is hands down not only the best tasting ice cream in town but also a really fun experience. I came in at 12 pm yesterday and ordered the bravocado. I never heard of avocado ice cream before but this place got it down, it was really creamy and delicious. The process was fast and easy there was no line since the store had just opened. The ice cream is made right in front of you and they used fresh ingredients. They pour some kind of ice cream milk onto a cold plate, mix in the ingredients, spread it into a rectangle, and then roll it. The workers were all really energetic and helpful. The guy who made my ice cream recommended me to get a roasted marshmallow and whipped cream for my toppings and it tasted like heaven. One of my favorite place for dessert. Ice cream has unique flavors and not too sweet. Downside is the price but you can easily share a large with another person and both be satisfied. Since we ate ice cream from here 3 days in a row, it's obvious that we LOVE this place! You pick your ingredients and watch them make your ice cream. I like the concept and the ice cream was good mashed in with fresh berries. I got the berry one with strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. These were mixed into the ice cream so they could make the icicles. Then I got toasted coconut, white chocolate and caramel drizzles on top. And toasted coconut chips. It was quite good, perfect for sort of a lazy (for me anyway). Monday afternoon. :-). I did find the price a bit high but livable I suppose. Came to this location during the first week of being open with my family. My sister and brother in law are dairy free, and there was a handful of dairy free options for them to pick from. Lots of different menu items or mix in options to create your own flavors. The customer service was fantastic! Very friendly and fun environment. I absolutely adore Icicles. I've always received great service and the rolls have always been top notch. However, I wasn't too happy about my recent visit last week during their boba tea special. I had ordered a tea and waited over 20 minutes to receive it. I am usually very understanding (considering this day was pretty hectic for them as well) but I noticed they took priority doing a customer's order who had ordered after me. I'm not sure if it was because they had ordered ice cream rolls along with teas (thus longer process???) but as someone who was running on a schedule, this was a very unfortunate experience. I still love Icicles and I will continue to support them but this experience just took me aback. Now regarding the actual tea itself, it was a gift sent directly by the gods. Worst boba tea I ever have in my life. Long waiting time then the boba tea was too sweet even though I chose the standard sweet level. Then it has weird flavor as too bitter. The boba is not included and you have to pay extra for it, it so chewy and tough. I'm so disappointed! read more

Just went for our first time tonight! I always wanted to try it since the Juan Tabo store opened but it was so packed I never got in! I got the strawberry fantasy (I think) with fruity pebbles, boba and whipped cream and it was amazing!! The staff are super friendly and I love the decor in this store! Had never seen this particular means of selling ice cream. I had the very berry flavor. Four types of fresh fruit crushed with cream on a cold plate and scraped flat with spatulas. You can add any or all of the toppings if you choose. I chose fresh BlackBerries. The only downside to this concept is that it takes a few minutes to scrape and roll the ice cream into seven or eight separate pieces before putting it in a cup. This method keeps the ice cream cold for quite a long time. The ice cream is excellent and there are many choices of flavors. Some flavors seemed a bit odd so we went for the familiar ones. Great experiment in serving ice cream and we really enjoyed it. Highly recommend. read more

I have always been a big fan of Icicles, but this location has to be my favorite because of the vibe and energy when you first walk in. It is so homey and welcoming. It is across the street from UNM so people are nice and fun. They even let you play board games in there, while you eat icecream and spend time with friends. read more

My family and I were planning to try Icicles for awhile now, and a few days ago everything aligned (or so we thought) and we showed up on a hot afternoon. We were greeted by a closed curtain and a board with the menu and a hefty price list. They do not let customers in anymore, and have a curtain covering the door. You are supposed to stay outside and order. The problem was, that there was no one to take our order. We waited there for awhile, and no one showed up. After about 10 Minutes of waiting politely, I checked in and saw a frazzled busy person clearly working in the back. She was on her own and mumbled something when I said hello. After awhile, all this time waiting in the hot New Mexico heat wave I tried again, and she answered irritably "I told you I would be right there." I am sure she did, but since she stood at the other end of a large store, with a mask on, I thought she might have said that they were closed. Given the lack of service this seemed reasonable. A few minutes later we decided that all the signs were not promising, and left to have frozen yogurt elsewhere in Nob Hill. We were appreciative of the warm welcome at the other place, the air conditioner, the samples, and all these little things that we normally take for granted. Thank you Icicles for allowing us to appreciate our day to day privileges. I hope you get that lonely person help, rather than leave her on her own again. read more

I live on the Westside and noticed a sign on a store in Cottonwood Corners saying Icicles was coming soon. Having never heard of it, I looked it up and discovered two other locations existed in Albuquerque. The concept of rolled ice cream sounded neat. Today was a hot one, over 100 degrees (I think it hit 105), and cold ice cream sounded really good. My husband and I were in the area having dinner, so we decided to stop by and try it out. At first we were confused because the banner on the front of the store says "coming soon" and there was no "open" sign visible, yet there were business hours on the door and their Facebook page says this location is open. Sure enough, they are indeed open (though they might want to take down the "coming soon" banner to avoid confusion). Luckily there was absolutely no line when we went in (maybe because no one knows it's open yet because of the "coming soon" banner, LOL). The cashier was very helpful in explaining the different options and what they use to make the ice cream, but unfortunately when he said they used custard it grossed my husband out and he refused to try any (that's not the cashier's fault, my husband likes very select few sweets and the thought of custard for some reason bothers him even though the man eats select few flavors of ice cream - he won't touch gelato either, though). They have some dairy free options but he didn't want any of those since they didn't have the one flavor of sorbet (lemon) that he eats. Again this is not a poor reflection on Icicles, just on my picky husband (ha ha, kidding). Anyway, I got the berry ice cream (strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries), topped it with more strawberries and blueberries and a raspberry drizzle and it was very, very good (give me fruit flavored ice cream over chocolate almost any day -yum!). You can get unlimited toppings but I tend to like to limit mine to just a few. The only reasons I gave four stars was because 1) there is no inside seating. There are a couple of small benches/tables outside, where I didn't want to sit in 100+ degree heat, so I ate it in my car with the AC on, and 2) the price tag. It's $8.00 per serving! I get that it's a labor intensive process but yikes! Especially when you're eating it by yourself and don't have anyone to share with (because of picky husbands). When the Westside location opens near me I can definitely see me stopping in for a once in a while treat, though. I hope they have indoor seating! read more
