The service was great, and the staff was very friendly. The shop is a little hidden, but it's definitely worth seeking out. Rolled ice cream is so cute and very good quality ice cream. I was surprised about the quality of ingredients and ice creams were large for the $14 pie ice tag a pop. We love rolled ice cream, but this place was ok. There was one staff member. He was phenomenal. He never looked irritated when all the customers came in. He served each person with respect. The reason I wouldn't recommend it is the taste. We got boba and I was ok. It was more sugar and the flavor was decent. We alsongot a rolled ice cream and that too was ok. Icicles has been a pretty solid spot here in Newark. The ice cream is always on point for the most part. I have had some issues in the past but they fix it right away. You have to order on a kiosk as soon you walk in. There is staff there but they are busy working. Last week i did try and greet a staff member and he just looked at me and didn't say anything. Maybe he was busy, but greet the people when they walk in. Make recommendations do something. The ambiance was ok, they have a rope partition in the middle of the store for people not to get close to the glass. All in all, the ice cream always hits here. read more

This is an amazing ice cream shop to go to! The way they make ice cream is different. So basically, they handcraft ice cream by making individual twists. You can also add toppings and drizzles as well. Some toppings cost additional 75¢ and all drizzles are 50¢. It's expensive here due to how they make the ice cream and possibly the size of it. You can see workers make ice cream in front of you. It's not like any normal ice cream shop you go to. I haven't been here since the lockdown, so it's nice to know that it still tastes delicious. You order from the kiosk and they'll call you when ready. I got the bravocado. Tastes delicious, but...it already melted by the time I got to the car and we didn't even park that far away. My husband said they probably didn't roll it long enough on the metal pan. There's a small kiosk right when you walk in so you can order at your convenience, there's music and a small machine game in the corner to keep you occupied. (The machine was out of order when we went but it looked fun). They have a leafy panel wall with neons in the back which is a perfect spot to take a photo of your order, or even a fun selfie. I ordered the s'mores ice cream option which came with a toasted marshmallow on a pretzel Stick. It was light and delicious but a bit difficult to eat with the plastic spoon they provide. Like some other ice creamerys the ice-cream is made "fresh" on a stone slab allowing for fresh ingredients and combos to be mixed in a la carte and you get that distinct super soft aerated ice cream like at Coldstone. I was wondering why ice cream tastes so much better when prepped like this and I think its because the add-ons aren't frozen and their taste and texture isn't deadened if it was all pre-made, frozen, and scooped out. The curled shape also makes it very easy to eat with a spoon cutting easily through the ice cream. Strawberry fantasy: strawberry icecream with condensed milk and crumbled graham cracker. The crumbs give it a nice crunchy texture and the condensed milk makes it more creamy and rich than just normal strawberry ice cream. Well we tried the product of the Icicles' approach to ice cream making for the first time and while the method was novel, the outcome was not spectacularly different. We went here as a group on a hot sunny afternoon hoping to come out refreshed. Unfortunately they were not allowing indoor seating so that was a bummer for the kids. We ordered different flavors and since the process making each order is slow and tedious, the time to be served seemed very long. The flavors were there but with the toppings, this became a high calorific event. And then the price! $12 for each order of ice cream! A few of us chose to forgo our favored flavor and compromised to share an order by splitting the ice cream. Though I can attest portions were huge. I remember when this place was all the buzz when it first opened. They had a cool new concept, great flavors (RIP berry squad), and a decent price (around $6 a cup with unlimited toppings). The only thing that hasn't changed is their great flavor, but it's no longer worth it. The price is now (January 2024) $12 a cup, they charge an extra $0.50 for drizzle, and another $4.50 if I wanted to split the cup in two to share. The cup of ice cream that once cost $6 is now $17. I order something safe and familiar, vanilla custard and strawberries. Every order is poured out onto the frozen pan and rolled into beautiful swirls. Placed into a paper bowl and you add toppings. We like it so much we decided that this might be a good place to bring a group of kids for a birthday party. We asked and kudos to Alvin and the staff for being so accommodating with our requests. AHHHH Icicles! I was introduced to this place by my cousins. I've heard of it and never found time to go but I'm so glad I finally did. If you know me you know I love Nutella and Ferrero Rocher and so when I was reading the menu and saw the Ferrari I knew I had to get it! The ordering process is pretty easy you order which ever icicle you want and then you wait for your name to be called. Once it's your turn they prepare your icicles for you and at the end ask if you want any toppings. Toppings are endless and you can everything your heart and tummy desires! The custards are kinda pre-set but you could add some toppings to mix into them as well. We had a late lunch and was wanting to have dessert for dinner. We found this place nearby since we were in the area. My daughter and I split the Cereal Killer and my husband got the Time for Reece's. The cereal, Fruity Pebbles was our mix in. We added rainbow jelly, whipped cream and more cereal. My husband's mix had Reece's, peanut butter, he added cheesecake bites and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. Each serving of rolled ice cream cup was $9.25 plus tax with unlimited toppings. You can split one flavor ice cream into two cups (what my daughter and I did) I'm not sure when they last mopped the floor but it felt a little sticky and it looked dirty. Customer service was dry. They just stood there waiting for us to order. They didn't greet us or give any friendly suggestions. We asked for recommendations and the guy said whatever our taste buds are telling us. We asked what was pretty popular. He said all of them are popular. The ice creams were good and it was a good serving size but a bit pricey compared to the the rolled ice creams I normally get elsewhere. I was expecting ours to be fancied up for the price we paid but it was just plain and added with whatever we wanted on top. So the presentation was definitely not there. What upset me the most was the explicit music they were playing. I had my daughter with me and the music they had playing was ridiculous! The repeated chorus was "F*** this S***"about 4 times then there was rap and then the repeated "F*** this S***" again. Because of that, I won't come back here. Iciles has been on my list for forever and so glad I finally got to try it out. For $10, you get a flavored rolled ice cream and unlimited toppings which, I think, is a pretty great deal. I got the Teas Me which is the matcha and Thai tea flavors rolled into one with mochi, sliced almonds, strawberry, condensed milk, and lychee jelly. The ice cream itself had a pretty good flavor. The one thing I didn't expect is that it loses its roll consistency when it melts, so it just became regular ice cream at the end. Sliced almonds and strawberry, or any type of fruit for that matter, is a good choice because it counteracts the sweetness of the ice cream. Would avoid the other toppings. Overall, a pretty solid experience. Not sure if it exactly lived up to its hype, I mean watching them make it is pretty good, but not bad for $10 - definitely will fill you up. Side note, preparing your order takes more time compared to other ice cream places, but I mean they are making it in front of you after all. read more
