Such a cute little ice cream spot in the Niles neighborhood! I'm honestly not a huge sweets person, so it took me forever to finally try this place -- but I'm glad I did. I got the mint chip and it was delicious, and I also grabbed some fresh oatmeal cookies to have with my coffee the next morning. So yummy. Upon parking we saw this ice cream place that reminded us both of the Creamery in Fremont where we both grew up. There was a line but it moved fast, we were able to taste and I went for the Marble Black Raspberry with a waffle cone. Very cute and delicious little ice cream shop! The setting is cute because it's in the historic part of town and it has nice outdoor seating. The decorations inside are nice but I didn't like the smell of the place, could be whatever cleaning supplies they use. Today is Sunday and I decided to have ice cream at Niles down in Fremont. When I walked in, it was small and the seating area is kind of mediocre. I think that's why people prefer not to dine indoors based on what I saw. Ice cream comes in many flavors. When I wanted vanilla ice cream, I don't see it from the display section. So I had to ask and it seemed that some of the ice cream that are available are at the other end of the counter when she scooped it. Vanilla is a very popular ice cream and I think that it's better to be displayed and ones that are underrated should be at the other side. The ice cream is very good though! It's slightly expensive though. They also sell other desserts like cookies and cupcakes, but all I'm here is the ice cream. I'll be trying other flavors when I return especially Ube haha read more

Been visiting this ice cream shop for many years. Let's be clear, it's a little local owned business serving ice cream and a small selection of baked goods. Are the scoops a little overpriced? Duh. But I would be sad if they were gone so I'll pay up! I love to bring my kids here to get a little scoop of ice cream and then go play by the train depot and run off some of the sugar. It's on the regular rotation as a reward for a good week at school/good behavior. They always have delicious flavors and the people working behind the counter have always been patient while dealing with the little customers. As an adult, the ice cream is actually pretty good quality. I'm very partial to the marbled black raspberry. It's a vanilla ice cream base with a thick ribbon of a black raspberry...jam maybe? Either way, it's so good. The vanilla is actually really good. I've tried a few other flavors and enjoyed all of them. So if you're ever in or around Nile's and a beautiful day, definitely worth the stop to come get a scoop and feel a little Americana nostalgia! read more

Excellent quality ice cream, always have damn near a couple dozen flavors. They've got some EPIC splits & usually have a "special" split or float. They do a great deal of charity too, for example each year they'll contribute a generous amount of what you purchase to the Niles Elementary school for the little kids. Not much better than bringing the kids here, around sun down on a summer or spring evening & having ice cream on the outdoor tables... Most people usually take it to go and walk around the nice little town. Not the friendliest staff but the ice cream is good and they have the best cookies! Took a long time for this review. I have been going here for a couple years now, at least once a month when I want to walk around Niles and catch Pokémons lol Staff are friendly, they offer free samples, and they have plenty of flavors with some seasonal flavors available. The shop is small with only a couple of tables in the store but we are usually enjoying our ice-cream while walking. The ice-cream is Loards ice-cream which is one of the best imo. I usually rotate on the flavors I get. Their scoops are generous so I can usually only order 1 scoop on a sugar cone. Definitely try it out if you are in the area! read more

During a weekday late morning, I visited with three international guests. The shop was not busy, and we purchased a bucket of ice cream. When we came in, the place was small and quaint, and we were greeted by someone, he was very friendly the whole time. My grandpa had the andes mint chocolate ice cream turned into a milkshake, he mentioned it was good although the andes mint pieces did get stuck in the straw (but what do you expect, it was still good otherwise) and my mom and I each had a locomotive sundae, it wasn't big but it was still a good size, and it was so decadent you didn't need anymore than what was given. i heard the small town of niles is famous for their ice cream, so when i saw a line out the door for this shop, i had to try! it's a quaint, simply decorated shop that offers a decent selection of ice cream flavors (and sells pints too)! the cost is average with bay area prices (about $4-5 for a small scoop in a cup). they have several unique flavors, and i sampled a few: the bubblegum is crazy. i'm honestly not a fan of bubblegum itself anyway, but i've got to applaud their formula for mimicking the taste so closely. but, one small sample bite left my mouth with the (very) strong bubblegum aftertaste. so beware. i ended up getting a small cookies and cream in a cup, which is my go to. i usually judge an ice cream place by how they've mastered their classics (in my opinion, to be a credible dessert place, this is non-negotiable! you've got to nail down the classics). and i was pleasantly surprised. there was a decent oreo to vanilla ice cream ratio (with a decent ratio favoring oreo chunks, woohoo!), and the scoop left me feeling satisfied. cookies and cream craving satisfied! i will say the flavors are on the sweeter end. be sure to stop and sample their unique flavors, and get a taste of nile's special ice cream!! read more

I asked for a double bc I didn't know what to expect but a double gets you a 6 oz cup filled with ice cream. If I were to recommend a flavor it would have to be black raspberry marble. How about next time, ask the fully party what they want before you turn around and start?
