Came in here for the first time last Saturday and I gotta say, the place was clean, well laid out, with a high visual appeal to it. It's one of the nicest, modern looking optometry places I have been to. The staff are all what you would expect - first class. Thanks to all previous reviewers for Iconic Eyes as I ended up scheduling an appointment which was really easy to do online. Experience: I scheduled an appointment online and a confirmation email on scheduling was sent fairly soon after making the appointment and within 24 hours I received a confirmation that the appointment was all set. The day before my appointment, I got a call from Sean who reminded me of the appointment. When I went in, the place was nice and clean. Filled out some paperwork on medical records and was set. They provided a quote given that I gave them my insurance details when scheduling online and the quote matched what I expected given my insurance plan. Afterward, I met with Dr. Christine Ngo and she was super helpful and nice. I was looking to update my prescription and explore possibly getting contacts. She explained to me the process of contact fitting and answered the questions that I had. She helped me with putting in the contacts and was really patient and gave me guidance when I tried them on myself. The whole process was smooth and afterward Sean helped me with finding a pair of glasses. I had few questions which he helped with and I was able to find the perfect frame! I will update the review once I get the frames! Finally, when ringing up the bill, Sean was very patient and provided me with the details on how much the frames would cost, the lenses with the extra features and provided a quote before I made my decision officially. Then provided an itemized bill afterward. He helped me schedule my next appointment and I was all set to go! Overall: The experience could not have gone any better! The Dr. Ngo and Sean were kind and helpful and friendly too! Also they had a good Spotify playlist going on! The selection of glasses is good but no the best. It's definitely a lot smaller than say LensCrafter but the selection was decent enough that I found a frame that I felt was perfect! Would recommend to others and really liked the location. I've been coming to Iconic Eyes for a few years now, and I always receive great service. Dr. Ngo has always been very kind and patient, and makes sure I understand my eye health even though I probably ask similar questions every year (haha). The team is always very helpful when I need help choosing my frames and lens options. I always feel taken care of when I leave, and it's always a quick process when I come back to pick up my frames. I had my first appointment with Dr. Ngo today and she was incredible! I scheduled myself for a 10 AM eye exam because I wanted to be one of the first people in for the day and have everything sanitized. The front office person + Dr. Ngo were great with sterilizing everything and reminding me to sanitize my hands or wash them when necessary. I felt extremely comfortable with the level of cleanliness that was implemented. After I used any equipment, it was quickly sterilized and ready to use for the next client. After my eye exam, Dr. Ngo updated my prescription for both my contact lenses + glasses. She gave me a new sample of contact lenses to try out and the prescription for that + my glasses in case I wanted to get them filled anywhere else. Her office did have some glasses that you could try on as well but there was no pressure to by from them. The level of service + care that they provided here was incredible. I made the mistake of going to another optometrist last year to check my eyes in both contacts and glasses from beginning to end I regretted that decision and missed this office. Dr. Ngo is very personable and warm but what really keeps my business is that she offered suggestions on how I could protect my eye health now and in the future without pushing costly products on me which makes me trust her information. I saw Dr. Christine. The whole staff was very inviting and friendly. It was easy to set an appointment online and verify insurance (VSP accepted and discount on frames). I came here to get a pair of eye glasses. Having read the false good reviews below, i was ready to purchase the pair on the spot. Everything was fine at first, staff seemed nice and selection didnt look too bad although there werent too many. Nothing went terribly wrong until i sat down to discuss the price with a sales rep. He flat out lied about the pricing and wanted to charge me super extra above the market price. For super index lens, digital coding, non glare coding, and the frame of my choice ($50 after insurance) came out total $400+ after insurance. I never paid that much for eye glasses. I told him i didnt have to get the digital, but he insisted that i had to get them and i didnt have a choice. I went to other stores and found out digital was completely optional. Maybe it's just these guys who make all options mandatory and charge $400+. I could not see myself paying that much money for a pair of glasses, so i had to walk out of there and, boy, im glad i did. After checking the benefits details with my insurance, I went to another store close to my house and found a deal for a little over $200. Great place! The store was cleaned and organized. I dropped and lost my sunglasses not long ago and wanted to have a new one. I stopped by and was trying to look for a new pair. Sean was the guy who helped me select the right sunglasses for me. At first I was just wanted to buy the same sunglasses that I lost but Sean did not have that one available. Eventhough he did not have the one I wanted, but he can helped me order it. Anyway, I wanted something new instead and asked Sean, he was helpful and friendly. Fantastic Service! Sean is always polite and greets you by name when you walk in. I just had cataract surgery in my left eye so I just needed one contact lens. My health insurance didn't cover vision and I would have had to pay some crazy deductible to get an eye exam, so I searched for a optometrist outside of my insurance system. I called Iconic Eyes and they immediately gave me an appointment for the same day to get my eyes checked. The staff was super friendly, and I can't get over how knowledgeable and helpful Dr. Ngo was. It almost makes me feel bad for going to other optometrists through Kaiser, because she pointed out issues with my eyes that no other doctor has bothered to tell me about. She prescribed me some drops to fix my dry and itchy eye issues since I stare at the computer screen a lot for work. The whole exam was very quick and painless, and Dr. Ngo and her staff is just so friendly, that I will definitely be back for my contact lense fitting and to buy new frames. This was a loooong overdue review. I went here simply because they accepted my insurance. They were doing great until it came down to my decision on what I wanted to purchase. So I have terrible eyesight and I needed a pair of glasses to wear to give my eyes a break from my contacts. I have a -8.5 prescription so I knew that my glasses were going to be thick. I was sitting there with one of the girls and she was trying to sell me on the different types of lenses. My boyfriend was with me and is an expert salesmen and came to assist. She was attempting to sell me on a different lens that cost way more and wasn't that much thinner than the one I wanted. My boyfriend and I were asking questions to understand the different lenses better and the doctor (who was sitting behind us and helping another customer) butts in and begins raising her voice at why we should get the more expensive lens over the cheaper one. My boyfriend and I both just put our foot down and kept the lower priced one and left. I left completely frustrated and angry over the fact that this optometry only wanted to sell and make more money than actually help their patients. read more

My eyesight has been getting worse enough for it to bother me. I knew it was time for new glasses, but I was not prepared to drop more than $150 total on a pair of glasses WITH anti-reflective coating. My past experiences eyeglass shopping have been fraught with anxiety and frustration due to unreasonable pricing and flagrant misinformation for the purposes of upselling. (Note to sellers of eyeglasses: sometimes your customers have degrees in physics and have worked in optics labs.) I did some research and found that I can buy glasses online for AN ORDER OF MAGNITUDE less than I have paid in the past. Since I have a simple single vision RX, I have little to worry about ordering online. My research also uncovered the fact that many optometrists will withhold your RX (which is illegal) or refuse to measure your pupillary distance (PD) to keep you from ordering online. So I found Iconic on-line - it was the only optical care store that I could find that actually posts their price for an eye exam, $88. I always favor any business that makes their pricing transparent. I could have been examined at walmart for $58 (I had to call for the price), but prefer to avoid doing business there. I called Iconic and told them straight-up that I need an eye exam, I intend to buy glasses online, and I will need my RX and PD. They were totally cool with that and gave me no hassles whatsoever. They even said they would adjust the glasses I buy on-line for free. In all honesty, I think that's too generous; they should charge a nominal fee. Dr. Ngo has a lovely bedside manner, was thorough in her exam and addressed all my concerns. If you prefer to purchase designer glasses, they definitely have a varied and very attractive selection. I didn't see any frames (just frames) for less than $200. I am of the opinion that there's no way glasses frames are worth the price of an iPad, but you know what they say about opinions. Of course, buying in-store is the easiest, most convenient and foolproof way to get glasses - so if that's the route you want to take - and you should if you are paying for some kickass vision insurance coverage, I believe you would be well served to come here. Minor criticisms: 1) The website says Dr. Ngo has "a doctorate at UC Berkeley School of Optometry". They meant doctor of optometry, OD not PhD. 2) I was told that they can't verify prescriptions on glasses that were not made by them because their machine can't do it. I knew that was nonsense especially in light of the fact that the doctor checked the RX on the glasses I walked in with to see how much my vision had worsened. I understand and support their decision not to check glasses that people have bought elsewhere; I just don't like being lied to in such a way that insults my intelligence. On the other hand, I understand that people in retail always have to walk a fine line and try not to piss off the entitled jerks out there who think they should be getting services for free and will come on yelp to b**ch. 3) Dr. Ngo seems convinced that sunglasses especially polarized- even if they are made of the same material and have the same UV coating as regular lenses - block more UV. I'm pretty darn certain that's not true. Or perhaps I misunderstood. 4) I wish they had some options for budget minded types (cheapos) who want attractive glasses - like me. read more

Her suggestion to switch to toric contact lenses for my astigmatic eye have helped reduce headaches caused by computer work.
