Dined at Ida Thai last evening with friends and ordered the Three Flavor Fish, which was a very lightly fried red snapper served with broccoli, carrots and another vegetable, a special in- restaurant sweet and sour in-restaurant made sauce, and rice. This selection was more than awesome and I give this dish a five-star rating without equivocation. My friends had other dishes, one the soft shell crab, and were equally pleased. The food is authentic thai with a rather large menu. The service was excellent and staff very friendly and attentive. If you like Thai food this is the best in town, in my opinion, and I would recommend giving them a try. You will not be disappointed. read more

I am from New York City and have been too many great Thai restaurants there. This one, Ida Thai, is better than anyone I have ever been. The restaurant looks recently updated with touches that make you feel like you have been to Thailand. The kitchen has an open appearance which inspires a lot of trust. The service was outstanding from the moment we walked in the door. We felt welcome. The owner and manager came out to ask us about our meal and offered great suggestions based on their signature dishes. The food was incredible. I had several appetizers. I ordered Pad Thai for pickup after seeing this place ranked as having some of the spiciest food around, and I was excited to try it. I specifically asked for the Pad Thai to be made hot. After driving 30 minutes to pick it up, I was really disappointed. The dish wasn't spicy at all, and overall it didn't have much flavor. The noodles and beef were just okay, but nothing stood out. I called afterward to see if there had been a mix-up with my order because it didn't seem like what I requested. Unfortunately, I was put on hold and then disconnected. When I called back, no one answered. That was more frustrating than the food itself. I ended up spending about $25 including the tip, and it felt like a waste considering the experience. Maybe Mondays aren't the best day to visit, but based on my experience, I left disappointed. read more

The inside is roomy and there is ample seating. Was not too busy which surprised me. The app of tofu wedges was very dry, the Thai tea was way too sweet (I drink it so for me to say too sweet it was overdone), the pad Thai was "ok" but to have to ask for a lime wedge that isn't a sliver to me was silly. The waitress was very difficult to get and there were 3 staffers trying to fix a system while we were hopping for refills in at least water. Ample parking since in a plaza. The kids meal was awkward. Chicken tenders from frozen, fries and... plain sticky rice lol. I mean not even a treat like mango sticky rice dessert? Anyway the price was insane... I don't think we will be back here. read more

Fantastic first experience at Ida Thai. It's a casual but lovely restaurant with great ambiance-- low lighting and cozy seating. We started with the Goong Hor appetizer-- delicious jumbo shrimp wrapped in crispy wonton with sweet/sour dipping sauce. I had the beef noodle soup. This broth!! Yum! Loved the spring onions stewing in the broth-- such a great bite along with the beef. My wife loved her Broccoli Lover's Stir Fry with chicken. I've been wanting to try this place, so I finally went (April 2024). The interior is warm and simply decorated. There were only two other people in the restaurant and it was pretty quiet. If I remember correctly, there was no background music. I ordered the Pad See Ew, which is a noodle dish with wide noodles, chicken, egg, and vegetables in a light brown sauce. I really liked it. The awife and I made a stop here on the way back from our trip to Kure Beach and the Aquarium, and we are so glad that we did! Now don't get me wrong, the main meals - eggplant, chicken curry and pad thai - were all delicious in their own right, but the star of the show to me was the fresh rolls and the chicken satay. Some of the best appetizers I've had in a long time. The chicken satay was so unique and had a curry taste, which I absolutely loved. The vibe here is awesome. It's a small little building with which is so cozy inside, and all the staff were attentive. Ok, I have to admit I didn't have super high hopes going into a dinner here with friends- it's a small restaurant that from the outside doesn't look like much. HOWEVER, I was blown away by how amazing the food was!!!! I went with three girlfriends, two of whom love spicy food, and two of us who do not. The two who love spicy food ordered spicy pad thai and a spicy curry and devoured both. The other two of us ordered pad thai and non-spicy massaman curry. I LOVE massaman curry and hadn't found a place in Wilmington I loved- that all changed! Excellent service & food! I've been to Ida Thai twice now for takeout. Food was ready within 15 minutes both times and tasted super fresh! The service sizes are quite large, one noodle dish could most likely feed too. The spring rolls are crispy and flavorful! A great start to the meal or to pair with the pad Thai. The Rad Na is excellent as well - leftovers on day two pictured here. The best thing about Ida Thai is that they cram every dish with vegetables! Way more than other places. What a great meal we had! The portions were generous the service was friendly and the food was out of this world delicious. We arrived late, and there were still a few people in the restaurant, and it was cozy and homey.
