Tip: don't use the online order form if ordering take out. It said it would be 45-50 min for my food to be ready. I was close by so instead of ordering online I just stopped in. The food was pretty good. I ordered the drunken noodles with level 7 spicy. As an Asian person, level 7 spicy is not too spice but still got a little kick. Noodles itself cooked in a good level of chewiness which I enjoy very much. I would suggest to have the option to have some fried grounded garlic on the top as garnishing. Regarding the chicken, it could marinated and add a little batter before stir fry it. Loved the basil fried rice ! We just discovered this place and it's a gem. You order at the counter and it's a very casual space but they also surprisingly checked on us frequently as we ate in. I am used to the Thai House back home, and they have always been impossible to beat until TODAY! I love I can order online and tell them on there no eggs without it being an issue! WOW this place is delicious! I was kind of shocked because I wasn't having great luck with finding asian restaurants in this area. The inside is decorative with elephants everywhere. It was super authentic. The waiter was also very kind and helpful. The Siam sweet and sour was great if you wanted the chicken with veggies. It filled me up quick! I never had anything like this dish before. Their sushi rolls unfortunately aren't buy one get one free or half off. I got the spider roll and that was pretty impressive as well. It looked nice and big. It was also crunchy and had a lot of great flavor. I'm usually not a fan of sushi but this one was really good. There is a variety of dishes here and they all have their own spice level ranging from 0-10. If you get a medium that would be about a 3. Those who like spicy would probably taste nothing from that. Some of my friends got 6s and 8s and were sweating like crazy! For those who don't like spicy I'd recommend to stick with a 1 or a 2. read more

I don't remember who recommended this place to me but THANK YOU!! This place is a hidden gem in Monkey Junction. I decided to stop in for lunch and it was pretty empty. It was right before they closed but the waitress insisted that I could still eat which I appreciated. I ordered the spring rolls (vegetarian) and drunken noodles with chicken. The waitress told me that during lunch there is a complimentary soup and today it was egg drop so I definitely asked for some :). The service was quick. She brought the soup out first, followed by the spring rolls and drunken noodles. The soup was very flavorful and included fresh cilantro. It was light and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The spring rolls were amazing!! The wrapper was very light and crunchy. Honestly, the best spring rolls I've had. And the drunken noodles were sooo good. You can get it spicy on a range from 0-10 and I opted for 3, which is a mild spice. You can also get the spice on the side. It was topped with onions, peppers, and tomatoes. I would definitely order again. I also liked that their prices were affordable. The average lunch price was $8 which is a steal since it also includes soup. One of the better, hidden gem style of restaurants in Wilmington. Food is well made and always seems fresh. It's good for people that like any kind of Thai food and food from other Asian demographics as well. These places aren't easy to find in Wilmington. I like to try different noodle dishes and they have a good selection of them as well as a good selection of all sorts of food. Take their heat warnings seriously though haha...I love spicy food, but when they say it's spicy they are not joking!! If you're no confident about how much heat u can take, play it safe the first time, then gradually work your way up. Great restaurant though!! read more

It was my first visit to Chow Thai since they changed the name and interior of the restaurant (not sure about the ownership)... While I appreciated that there are many To Go Orders, dining inside was not as 'an experience' as it once was previously. The restaurant is very clean and the customer service is top notch, I just missed the experience of a 'typical dining experience.' I ordered the Spring Rolls (vegetable) and the Tom Yum Soup with the addition of Chicken. They ask if you would like the soup spicy or not...I chose a little ('middle of the road') spice....I love spicy, it just doesn't always 'like me' back! :/ The Spring Rolls were very tasty and just the right amount of crunch and not too oily...my only complaint is that I would've liked to have a couple more! :) I would rate them 4.6 stars ! The Tom Yum soup was very different than what I was used to having (mostly at the Southern Thai Restaurant); but it was very good. The broth was very flavorful with just enough (but not too much) spice. The main difference, though, was the broth. I am used to a lemongrass/Chicken broth, with Thai Basil, and a -removable- Thai chili (I learned the hard way to ask for the chili on the side!! :/)!! This 'sort of' spicy soup; however, has a tomato inspired broth and has the addition of tomatoes and mushrooms. It is very tasty, just VERY different from what I am used to/was expecting. Rating: 4.2 stars That said, I ate a good amount of it, but had to pack up the rest, as I guess I ate too many spring rolls :). They did have amazing take out containers for those who choose to order take out...no spillage from THAT container!! I would like to say that their customer service, and, service in general, is very good- 4.6 stars So, I suppose the overall rating was 4.4 stars as I was just disappointed about the dining experience in general (being waited on, instead of a 'to go' scenario) and the difference in soup, which neither is really a 'fault'- perhaps if I had known what to expect it would have been closer to a perfect review. I do highly recommend this establishment and look forward to trying some of the other items on the menu. I will return to try more items on the menu, and to try the Sushi!! Thanks CT!! read more

Their fish is always fresh, the sushi and sashimi slices always thick, and their lunch specials are amazing-- the $9.99 Chef's Sashimi Special is six large slices of three kinds of sashimi with a tuna roll and soup, so bring a large appetite. By the way, their Thai Food is just as good as their Sushi, I'm just particular about my Sushi, and they do it WELL. There was a complimentary soup that was something I would never have ordered but was so good. I have this place book marked so I don't forget to go back. Def worth a try. UPDATE: I've been here now about 3 times. I think this place is super underrated. They give you a ton of food and everything we have ever tried has been really delicious. The only exception Is the crab rangoons--they are a little onion-y. But honestly, aside from that everything is delicious. You are missing out of if you don't go to this place based on location in a little strip mall. UPDATE-10/7/18: Here again. The seaweed salad remains a thing of beauty and salty crunchiness. Thai Spice was once my favorite Thai restaurant in Wilmington. It was one of those places that I would be willing to drive an hour and a half for. It is understood that restaurants would once in a while have a bad day and the cooking/food was off. Well... Thai Spice had 2 consistent bad days. What was once a 4 Stars Yelp review restaurant have been reduced to a 2 Stars Yelp review restaurant. Today was the day that I decide that it was my last time. The food quality has gone down drastically. I ordered a fried rice and it was burnt. You can see black marks on every piece of rice. All of our plates lacked color, NOTHING like the pictures on their menu. We ordered a pad see ew (a dish that is usually dark because of the soy sauce used to make it) was pale. The service quality have also gone down. There were only 2 people working the dining area during prime lunch hour. I had to ask for more water on more than once occasion.
