Best grilled cheese ever! There was a secret I wasn't expecting that made it so nice. I appreciate the hospitality.

This was a trip to the Sweet Home, Oregon area to hike McDowell Creek Falls. (Highly recommend the falls hike). On our way, we stopped at The Point, just outside of Sweet Home. Not much to look at from the outside and kind of a diner atmosphere inside. Somewhere, I read you had a "view" to the water. As you can see from the picture, it's a view (sort of) to Foster Reservoir. OK. However, the food and service were surprisingly good! I ordered the special of the day, a Chipotle Burger. Cooked perfectly with 1/3 lb local beef patty, bacon, chipotle sauce, lettuce, red onion and accompanied by some very good fries. My wife had the grilled cheese and it was awesome as well. Her only complaint was it had too much bacon. Yes, you heard that right, too much bacon. I also have been trying NA beers and the only brand I have found I like is Deschutes out of Bend. They had a Golden that I hadn't heard of and it was, in true Deschutes fashion, very good. Our server was Becky and she was amazing. She greets the regulars by name, was very helpful and informative, but not too chatty. If we were in this area again, we would definitely go back. Without hesitation. Great find!

The small pieces were the only drawback. Sweet potato fries rounded out our meal. Melted marshmallows with some cinnamon or pumpkin spice would have been a great accompaniment with the sweet potato fries. Dessert was their luscious coconut cream pie. The crust was crunchy, pie itself was smooth and just slid down your throat into belly heaven. A must try for sure! Atmosphere was calm with a few other diner. Flies swirled about overhead in the main dining room and saw cobwebs hanging on a lamp by the window.

So again this is only our experience at the time of our dinner…read more I'll start with walking in through the door. Looks clean and inviting. It was a little busy for a Friday crowd. Didn't have to wait long at the door and the booth seat was pretty comfortable. Sat next to a window and it is a very lit up place. Service well wasn't like the first time we ate there. We sat down around 4 or 5pm. Now are waitresses could have been new but again this is at the time we sat down to when we left and I will say this. She was the only server besides the owners. She very seldom smiled, didn't come to the table at all and it was hard to get noticed from anyone for a drink refill. I did hear someone yell out for service but I'm not that way. Even the owners didn't look are way. So I'd say no service at all but noticed people at other tables got pretty good service that I was seeing by the owners. But again maybe just an off day in the area we sat in. Now the first time we were there, the food was delicious and the service was good. This time not so. Maybe a new cook as well don't know. But the food pictured was very bland meaning absolutely no flavor at all. For a taco salad and really tacos as well to have no flavor is not too good sad to say. We will go back one more time cause now the score is one to one. I'm a person in this day and age want my money's worth why? I work hard for my money! Prices are going up! These places that you go and sit should be way better than fast food. So I'll add the price and plates in the photos. Thank you

I like the food, is is certainly more "new age" or "americanized" hispanic food. In all my twenty some years the nachos have always tasted the same. Yes, I will revise. Im certainly biased because I've been raised on this restaurants cuisine. By far my favorite mexican restaurant. The renovation makes the place look more modern than before and it feels less cramped than before. A part of me misses the old look just because it is nostalgic though. If you're passing through I recommend you give it a shot! The owners are lovely people and the food is far better in taste and price than the other restaurants in this area!

Update review. We keep getting a male server who is stressed out and impatient. Makes us feel…read morerushed. Acts like he's a great waiter and like we're unworthy customers. He sweats and pushes us to order and eat fast, doing that waiter thing when they pretend they are not rushing you. "Just checking if you need that plate taken away." Not fooling anyone. Brusque to my brother who is into fine wines and requested tastes of some by-the-glass wines before committing to a glass or a bottle. My wife stated she is uncomfortable around the server. We don't go to the Open Door much now. Old review. A real romantic spot. Great drinks. My wife loves it. Sitting outside is best but the bar is good too. Some nights they put tables in the art gallery out front and you sit around the paintings and jewelry, kind of fun. There used to be a waitress named Kristen or Kirsten, a lady with long hair and clogs, the best server I've ever had and I don't just mean in Central Oregon. The Open Door is the probably the best dining experience in Sisters. Living in Tumalo and working throughout Oregon, I go to Sisters often. Unfortunately Sisters isn't a great town for food. The Open Door has some very-good food, and some pretty-good food. You never know which it's going to be. The halibut, meatballs, and lasagnas are solid. Berries and cream dessert is great. The menu doesn't change much over the years. If my wife didn't love it I wouldn't go back so often. Get bored eating the same dishes over and over. When my brother and his grown kids visit they like the atmosphere, especially those small houses outside with the plants. However they have trouble finding a selection that works for their way of eating, allergies, one is vegan and one is lactose intolerant.

The vibe was peaceful and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind. Service was attentive, though a bit on the slower side, we waited almost an hour for the main course. They do have a kitchen break between 3:30-4:30 PM, and I'd recommend making a reservation if you're planning to visit during peak hours. The food was fresh, flavorful, and creatively presented--it's clear the chef enjoys experimenting with unique flavor combinations. My husband tried the seafood lasagna, which was a tasty and satisfying treat. The scallops dish was also delicious, though slightly too salty for my taste and quite light--it came with a small amount of polenta and a vegetable purée, so I found myself a bit hungry afterward. Many people around us were ordering pasta, and it looked fantastic--definitely something I'd love to try next time. Overall, a beautiful place with great food and a memorable atmosphere. Highly recommend!
