We stopped in a few minutes after noon today (a Saturday), and were lucky enough to find an empty booth. We had just missed breakfast service (available until noon), but they have a fine lunch menu, so all was well. I opted for the patty melt, and rate it one of the best I've ever had. The burger patty was juicy and flavorful, and it had just the right balance of Swiss cheese, thousand island dressing, grilled onions, and marble rye bread. Due to it being a grilled sandwich, the outside does get a little greasy, so be sure to have plenty of napkins ready. The fries were pretty much perfect, as far as I'm concerned. They were thick cut, and perfectly fried -- golden brown, with a crisp crust, and a soft velvety interior. My 17-yo son got a bacon cheeseburger, and it was quite impressive looking for sure -- he rates it very highly, 9 out of 10, and he's had of few of them in his day. The brioche bun, while substantial and flavorful, did not hold up the best -- he thinks toasting the insides of the buns would really help hold it together. My wife got the Philly cheese steak sandwich, and she said it was delicious. It was piled high with thin sliced beef, mushrooms, onions, and Swiss cheese. My daughter said her clubhouse sandwich was okay, but not the best she's had. She didn't pay attention to the menu, and it only came with turkey meat -- no ham. She also likes a little more toasting on her bread. My son was the only one who opted for dessert -- a personal chocolate cheesecake. He quite enjoyed it. Overall, the service was great, and our meals came out in a reasonable time -- especially considering how good our food was. Next time we're passing thru Mill City, and need some food, we'll definitely make the short drive off the main road. read more

Hair in my food, bacon cheeseburger but they left out the bacon and the cheese for some reason, no they told us no mushrooms on something that had mushrooms, the apitizers was burned, asked for root beer got Dr Pepper and the salad came with no croutons then when I asked it only came back with a small cup of 7 croutons read more

My friend and I stopped by on a cold day after kayaking on the North Santiam, and I was in the mood for a burger, but the menu was so diverse and inviting, I actually had a really delicious open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. Tom had a prime rib sandwich. The deep-fried mushroom appetizer was perfect and irresistible. I loved the inviting atmosphere, with comfy booths. We were waited on by a super friendly, nice, attractive wait person -- she made us feel perfectly welcome. She explained the roast was cooked in house and so on. I've been here a number of times. The food is so-so, but there are only a few options for dining in the area. We are in the height of the pandemic and I as encouraged to see a sign on the door saying masks required, which is state mandated. However, NO ONE was wearing once, including the staff. Genuinely one of the worst places I've ever been to. I've been there twice now and both times they have screwed up our simple orders. This time around they brought out 1 completely wrong dish. And another with everything we asked to be removed from the plate after receiving the replacement it was STILL wrong. They offered a "discount" of $1 for the inconvenience. The staff was cussing and laughing and screwing around the entire time and it was honestly a waste of time and money. Will not be going back. read more

We stopped in Mill City because they had a car charger for EVs. There were two options in town (not counting Subway) and one didn't allow children. This was a pleasant surprise. The food was great. Kids meals are very affordable. Highlights were the onion rings and biscuits. Veggie scramble and BLT were also good. Service is very friendly. read more

Last week I was disheartened and appalled by the experience I had to endure at this locally beloved restaurant. I had heard wonderful things about the food and service at The Grill and was so was excited for a nice night out. Unfortunately, I had anything but. I'm not sure if she was new or what but this poor lady's so called server was horrible and made the atmosphere of the restaurant extremely uncomfortable. She wasn't wearing a nametag but she was hispanic, had bright red hair, unsightly neck/chest area tattoos, and was very loud and belligerent. She had taken the lady's order and returned to kitchen where she preceded to refer to the customer as "Big Bertha" in an annoyed tone and the look on that poor woman's face told me she had heard as well. My heart broke for her and was disgusted with the rest of my evening there. I have never heard a server use such profanity in front and around customers. Also, the use of the n-word I heard said out of her mouth was beyond description. I remain unsure and bewildered as to why such a hostile, rude, aggressive, and frankly unqualified/unprofessional employee would be working in the front of the house or there at all but it confirmed I will not be spending my money at that restaurant again. I love to support and eat and local establishments but if that's the service that is allowed there that is something I cannot support. read more
