I just moved to San Antonio. And I am over due for my dental checkups because of my move. I Called my insurance, and Ideal Dental was one of the locations that accepted my insurance, and was close to home. I called to make an appointment because my wisdom tooth has been bothering me and giving me headaches for about 2 months. They made an appointment for me 2 days from the day I called to have it looked at. The staff is amazing! Everybody is so sweet, friendly and professional. They made me feel at home the moment I walked in. They also have a beautiful office. I needed panoramic x-rays done, and was asked to remove my jewelry. But I informed the lady I had just gotten fresh piercings earlier in the week. They lady was very sweet and worked with my piercings, and luckily, my x-rays weren't distorted. I had my consult for a possible my wisdom tooth extraction. After viewing the x-rays... They recommended I remove it because you could see that my tooth was pushing against my jaw, which was what was causing my pain. They were amazing and handled my situation like pros!!! My personal situation at home was really demanding and tricky as far as time frame and my availability, and my ability to have someone drive me to/from my surgery and help me with my kids... but they were able to schedule me for surgery the next day at a different location, and at a time that was perfect for me and my situation. They really did go above and beyond to help me. My cleaning and filling I got done that day was also quick, thorough and painless The doc was sweet and amazing. I can't wait to bring my kids here! So apparently they're closed on Wednesday so they can be open Saturdays? but still allow patients to make appointments and do not tell patients that they are closed so I had to find out on my own by calling another locations. There's no updated sign on the door or even updated business hours. With someone who works full time and had to adjust their work schedule just to be here is a big inconvenience because now who knows when I'll be able to go in since they're closed on the weekends. Dr Nicholson is always sweet and kind. She is very attentive and always makes sure that I am comfortable. My nickname for her is "Magic Hands" because she is so light handed.... She's never ruff! I had an infection that no one else wanted to touch (I've been told I have a small mouth" she was able to help me and talked me through the entire procedure. The front desk staff is very nice and will work with you. Debra is also amazing!. My hubby and I have been going to this location for over a year now and they've been the best. read more

It pains me to have to write this review, as I had wonderful experiences in the past at this location. Booked an appointment for my daughter for a check up and cleaning for 12:30pm on a Saturday. The office called at 11:30am asking if we could come in at 12pm instead, which we did. Checked in 10 minutes early, and waited another 30 minutes before she was taken back for x-rays. They finally came back at 12:45 to have me join her in the back. We sat in the cubicle for another 15 minutes with no contact from any of the staff. I left my 17 yr old to go grab something to eat from a nearby restaurant while we waited. We got back to the office at 1:30pm and she still hadn't been seen by the dentist. I rejoined my daughter in the back and waited another 30 minutes for the dentist to come in and do her cleaning. It is very clear that this office is understaffed and overbooked. My daughter had the suction hanging out of her mouth during the cleaning because there was no available assistant at that time. We finally left the office at 2:40pm, over 2 1/2 hours after her scheduled appointment time, and all she received was a cleaning. The biggest takeaway here, Ideal Dental, is to stop overbooking. It's incredibly frustrating as a consumer to feel as though all we are seen as are dollar signs instead of patients. read more

This was my first visit to the Ideal office and everyone was really nice however when I left my visit I came out with this burn from rubbing of one of their tools taking off my skin. I went back the next day to show them what had happened and there was no response to rectify the situation. I was pretty upset that it didn't seem like it was a deal to them. DO NOT GET YOUR WISDOM TEETH OUT HERE! Firstly, my appointment was for 4pm and I got a call to move the time up to 3. I took the new open slot but then they called again saying the doctor wanted to see me at 1. My designated driver wasn't able to make that time so I told them I could arrive at 2. When I arrived they insisted that they were busy and didn't come get me from my car until 3 (yes I sat anxiously in the parking lot for an entire hour). They finally brought me inside to my chair for the surgery. The surgery took place in a cubical like room among other dentists practicing. I did not feel like I had a lot of privacy to begin with. The heart rate monitor was hooked up across the room and sat on A STOOL. The cords were all over the floor and easily in the way to be tripped over. When the doctor finally came (after about 45 minutes of waiting) and they weren't friendly and definitely didn't communicate well. They stuck a thing is my mouth to keep my mouth open but didn't tell me what it was for. I thought they were gonna forget about the anesthesia (again no communication) they finally gave me the drug BUT DIDN'T WALK ME THROUGH WHAT I WAS ABOUT TO EXPERIENCE. They didn't ask me to count down and didn't tell me they were starting. I ended up waking up halfway through the surgery with a drill in my mouth and hearing a loud crack of a tooth breaking in half. This sent me into a full on panic attack (mind you that they didn't tell me I was going to start drifting away so I thought I had only blinked and they started). I couldn't control my breathing and had a light in my face and people surrounding me and I was extremely overwhelmed. It took the nurses a good while to calm me down and when I'm was finally calm the surgeon came back into the cubicle and stated that he wasn't going to finish and that he was going to just leave 2/4 of my wisdom teeth in (yes I had already paid for all 4 to be taken out) he said "I'm done". I was shocked and looked him in the eyes and told him to keep going and finish. I somehow convinced him (again drugged) and he was confused on what to do. He didn't know how much more anesthesia to give me. His words "can I even give her more?" The nurse reassured him that he could (how does the doctor not know how much to give me but the nurse did?!) and so they put me back to sleep and finished the job. This whole experience was unfriendly, unwelcoming, unprofessional, and horrifying. I don't know why I woke up but let me tell you...I will never forget it. DON'T GO HERE FOR WISDOM TEETH REMOVAL! read more

If I could leave no stars I would..Honestly I had a horrible experience never have I been to a dentist office like this. The two ladies in front were very nice however the dental hygienist did not have any form of professionalism. The doctor was very nice but also came in very quick and left. The pricing is very strange they gave me my quotes and then I ended up paying less than what they originally quoted me which didn't make any since and they were really trying to sell a lot things that were unnecessary. Not only that but I went in for a regular check up and teeth cleaning. Which the dental hygienist only cleaned half of my teeth and told me I had to come back for the other half because of my insurance didn't cover for me to get it done all at one time which did not make any sense at all. Not sure what kind of things this place is involved in as far as pricing and insurance doesn't sound right to me. They also moved my appointment time and took 2 and a half hours to do X-rays and clean half of my teeth. read more

Dealing with this office has been a complete disaster. I want to be completely clear, the dentist, Dr. Shah, is completely professional and does excellent work. This company, Ideal Dental, is practicing deceptive billing and possibly insurance fraud. My 89 year old father had a tooth extracted and was asked to sign a proposed treatment plan that indicated the cost to him would be $100. The tooth was extracted and he paid $100. Then he got a bill for $146. The insurance did not cover the item D7311 Alveoloplasty. The dentist never did alveoloplasty (bone smoothing), he just grabbed the tooth and pulled it out. That's it! I asked why my father was being charged for something that was not done. The office manager then lied to me and told me the insurance did not cover the extraction. The explanation of benefits clearly shows the extraction was covered and Humana paid $199. This company is practicing deceptive insurance billing. Deceptive insurance billing results in higher costs for patients and less effective treatments. RUN from this company!!! read more

Came here after having trouble finding someone that takes our insurance. I called the office and Lexi is the sweetest! She explained everything to me and I truly felt like nothing was a dumb question to her. Brought 2 of my kids in for appointments and had the best experience. They were so patient and kind. Joking around with the kids, but totally professional and knowledgeable with me. They are honest and don't try to get you to dish out a bunch of money on things you don't need. Worst experience ever. Went for a root canal, I paid the full $1500. Then the dentist got the tool stuck in my tooth and it broke off. There was reimbursement of $500 to use towards the endodonist. Referred to an endodontist. Paid another $400 for x-rays only to be told there was nothing they could do and the piece of the tool is stuck permanently in my tooth and I will need to get the entire tooth removed or get it checked for infection every 3 months and pay $400 each time. Did they call to check the status? Ideal dental did not even send the referral paperwork to them until 3 months later! Horrible! Please save yourself time and a ton of money and do not utilize this company! read more

Dr M was amazing! I recently got Invisalign and not because the office was super pushy in making sure that I got it. Dr M showed how much she cared and told me clearly about the benefits. She totally left the decision up to me but was super knowledgeable in the topic and I felt well informed and comforted. Price was no big deal either as the front office manager Kelsey worked extremely diligently with me to get the price to a point that fit very comfortably within my budget. 10/10 would recommend and be going back. Dr. Meilinger and the staff were all so wonderful the whole time I was there for my cleaning and filling. The office is convenient with the option of filling out all paperwork before you even arrive. The staff are all clear with anything they are doing before they start working. Even having someone come in and explain in detail what your charges will be before you agree to any procedures.
